Chapter 1

"Bella what are you doing up in that tree darlin'" I look down and see Jasper staring up at me with an amused look on his face. I can't help but brighten up seeing my brother.

"Oh you know the usual. Just contemplating my life here." I haven't really been happy since I awoke from my change. Jasper is the only one of the Cullen's that even acknowledges my existence anymore. I say Cullen but I learned that he isn't even a Cullen. His name is Whitlock and he actually has his own coven with Peter and Charlotte.

He has told me so much about his life. I cried for the pain he had to endure. (Yes I know vampires aren't supposed to be able to cry but ever since I awoke I have been able to produce tears which freaked everyone out a little bit.) Mostly though he tells me about Peter and Charlotte and I can tell they all truly care for one another.

Peter and Charlotte are truly amazing. I haven't actually met them but I have talked to them over the phone thanks to Jasper and we even text all the time now. Peter always seems to know when I need a good laugh or I am having a rough time because his texts always come in at that time.

"I wish I could make things better here for you Bella."

Jasper feels bad for what I have had to endure but there isn't much he can do. I have chosen this life.

"It's alright Jasper you and Renesme give me reason to be happy here. Besides I am married to Edward and I still love him even if I hardly ever get to see him."

It was true I still loved Edward very much. Even if he ignores me these days I don't want to be with everyone else but him. I think he is just having a hard time with my change and accepting that I am no longer human.

"I'm gonnagoing to take Renesme to our open field to play in the snow. Care to join us?"

"I can't think of anything I would rather be doing right now darlin'"

Right on cue Renesme comes running out of the cottage.

"Mommy are you ready? I want to catch snowflakes." She has brought so much joy to my life. I couldn't imagine if Edward got his way and had Carlisle destroy her.

"Yes I am, uncleUncle Jasper is going to be coming with us."

She starts squealing and jumps into Jasper's arms.

"Giddy up horsey."

Jasper and I both laugh at her and take off running to our field. Jasper showed me this open field not long after my change it's our secret place that no one else knows about.

When we get there Renesme jumps off Jasper's back and starts playing in the snow. Jasper and I just sit and watch her.

"Are you going to be okay Bella?"

I sigh, "I have to be." I try to smile at him.

"I just want things to go back to how they useused to be. I used to feel so welcomed by the Cullen's now I just feel like they want nothing to do with me."

"Well I cannot speak for the Cullen's but I know Pete, Char, and I will always be there for you. You are a Whitlock through and through."

Right then a text comes through from PeterPeter.

'He's right kitten, Youyou are our family who cares what those bunny munchers think.'

This makes me smile.

"Thanks Jasper."

"Anytime."

Right then RenemseRenesmee jumps up to catch a snow flakesnowflake. I hear a scream in the distance.

"No, this can't be. It's not possible." Jasper and I look up to see Irina looking at us with so much anger on the mountain.

I look to Jasper to see if he can pick up any of her emotions but she's to far for him to get a good read and before we can say anything to her she takes off.

"What was that about Jasper?" He just shrugs.

"I honestly have no idea but maybe we should head back."

I nod agreeing with him. We run back with Renesme on his back but when we get back to the house everyone is outside waiting for us.

"Bella love, come here." Edward opens his arms to me which he hasn't done in so long.

I eagerly hughugged him missing his embrace.

"Bella where have you been?" He takes my chin in his hand forcing me to look him in the eyes.

"I just took Renesme to play in the snow." He gripped my chin tighter causing me some pain. But even though he was hurting me I couldn't pull away. I was drawn to him.

"Bella I need you to be more careful with Nessie. I would like forlike you both to stay close to the house. No more trips for a while."

Almost without any thought I automatically agree to his wishes. I want to do whatever I can to please him. Maybe if I do what he says he will pay more attention to me and Nessie.

"Good girl now go get washed up, you look a mess."

I nod and turn to run to the cottage to get freshened up.

Maybe things are taking a turn for the better finally. I knew he just had to get useused to me being one of them. Thing's can only get better from here, I think to myself.
