A Wish Upon A Wishing Star
A/N: This Fan Fiction is based on the Galar region and games (Sword/Shield) featuring CanonXOC
Hop stood ready and waiting for Anani on a small battle field just out side of Magnolia's stone back stood against the setting sun, dyeing everything in sunset colors while he himself looked to be standing before a ball of fire. His arms were crossed and his grin a mile wide.
"I'm going to be the greatest Poke'mon trainer there is!" Hop declared,"And to do that, I need that endorsement to take part in the Gym Challenge!" he claimed as he thrust his arm forward and pointed at her,"So come at me with everything you have, Anani! So that we can prove to Lee that we've got what it takes!"
"Right on!" Anani grinned, digging the heel of her studded boots into the ground she stood, ready and prepared to throw her first partner.
Leon stood in the Battle reff position, soon joined by Magnolia to set up the match.
"Listen up, you two." said Leon, demanding their attention,"The reason I am unbeatable is because I learn from every battle I see and take part in!" he said,"That's how I've gotten to be where I am today...so now it's your turn!" he stated,"Now...show me something good!" he grinned and the two trainers stepped forward.
"It's time for my legend to begin!" Hop beamed.
"We're going to set this up to be a 3 on 3 battle!" said Leon," Now...BEGIN!"
"All right Rookidee, take the field!" said Hop. His throw released a ruby eyed rounded blue bird that flapped its wings, battle ready.
"Then I'll start things off with Nikit!" said Anani, as she released her mischievious little fox.
"Ahh, a Nikit, eh?" Leon blinked,"That must be the troublemaker that Anani caught all on her own." he grinned, "Bang on, then!"
"Well all right!" Hop grinned,"Let's see what you and that Nikit can do! Now, Rookidee, use peck!"
It was a direct hit upon the little fox, who let out a pained squeak from being assaulted by a sharp pointed opject.
"Quick, Swiper!" Anani called out, "Weave out into a Beat Up attack!"
"KeKe!" the fox responded, and with elegant motion he quickly pounced on the rivaling bird and started pounding him with his little black paws for what lasted three rounds, one round per Poke'mon Anani carried with her.
"Oof, that one smarted a bit..." said Hop, but he wasted no effort in sending in a fury attack, which did its own damage to the younge fox.
"Swiper! Fall back!" Anani cried, returning the fox Poke'mon into its containment before having the chance to faint. He was winded and exhausted and she didn't dare push him further.
"And round one goes to Hop!" said Leon.
"That was right, smashing!" said Hop as he called back his Rookidee,"Well faught, Anani!" he beamed.
"A job well done, Swiper." Anani said softly smiling at the ball she held in her palm.
"Round two..." said Leon," BEGIN!"
"All right, Wooloo, it's on you!" said Hop, as he sent out the fluffy sheep.
"For old times sake, yeah?" Anani grinned," Zigzagoon!"
"Gee that Poke'mon looks familiar!" Hop laughed.
"All right, Punkoon, now's your time to have at your own rival, Hop's Wooloo!" she declared,"Charge in! Headbutt!"
It was a hard hit against the crying sheep. Hop tried to counter with Tackle, but with the Zig Zagging way he moved, it was near impossible to land a perfect hit on Punkoon the Zigzagoon and the battle ended after a few hard fought rounds of sheep and raccoon dog.
"Round two goes to Anani!" said Leon.
"Good on you, mate!" said Hop as he pulled out his last Poke'ball,"Mm...this will be a close one for sure..." Hop pondered,"But that's the way I like it!" he smirked,"Scorbunny! Go!"
"Nice job, Punkoon! You've earned that rest!" Anani said as she called back her Zigzagoon. The very same Poke'mon Hop had caught for her before all of this...
"I suppose now, it's Sobble's turn!" she stated,"Go Bloo!"
And here it stood. True Rivals of fire and water.
"You think you've got me cornered, do you?" said Hop,"Well think again! Our Fire's burnin' HOT!" he smirked as he landed a direct hit upon Sobble's blue skin with Scorbunny's ember and the small blue Poke'mon began to cry.
"You can stand through this!" Anani called encouragingly,"Strike back with watergun!"
Needless to say there was steam on the battle field. It was a heated fight and neither partner went down easy, but overall, the type adavantage gave Anani an upperhand, and their first battle was won, by her.
"And that's match!" said Leon, marking the end,"It was a close fight, both teams gave there all, each one had one win and won loss...but in the end, this first match goes to Anani!"
"Pots..." Hop sighed,"I'm gutted that I lost...but I expect no less from my rival." he sniffed and gave a proud grin,"Good on you, Mate!" in a clean show of Sportsmanship, the two friends stepped forward and clasped hands in a hardy shake.
"There's the sting of defeat and the joy of victory." said Leon,"Going through both will be the key to both of you growing only stronger from here." he grinned,"After a match like the one you two displayed before me...with finesse and clean sportsman cunduct...I suppose I've little choice now, huh?" he chuckled,"I shall endorse you both, as Champion!"
"Yesssss! Thanks Lee!" Hop beamed,"I swear, I'll win my way through the Gym Challenge and aim to come at you with all I got!"
Leon chuckled and gave a firm nod.
"You both are young yet..." he said,"But I see a burning potential in both of you." he grinned,"Charizard and I were both feeling that excitement in every last cell of our bodies!" he smiled in full satisfaction,"I very much look forward to seeing some more thrilling battles between both of you!"
"All right, Anani, you heard him!" Hop grinned,"You and me...let's train up against one another to aim for that Champion's Title!"
Just as Anani was about to give her say in agreement, something in the sky caught Hop's attention, and not just his. Anani picked up on an odd burning sound of rushing wind and she turned as well in time to see a beam of falling red light streak across the sunset sky and landing with a thud to the earth just off to the side of the field they stood from. Curious, Hop approached the fallen object and let out a soft gasp.
"Anani!" he called out to her,"Come look at this, would you?"
Blinking in her own curiosity, she approached with caution and leaned in close as he held what looked to be two shining red jewl like stones in his palm.
"What is it?" she blinked curiously.
It was beautiful, whatever it was.
"They're Wishing Stars!" Hop beamed.
"Wishing Stars?" Anani blinked,"What's that?"
"A wishing Star is a stone found here in the Galar region." said Leon,"They hold a mysterious power..."
"That's right!" Hop said,"And they say if you find one, your dreams will come true!"
"...Your dreams will come true, huh?" she blinked as Hop gently placed the shining stone in Anani's hand and folded her fingers over it.
Will my dreams really come true if I place my hopes in a wishing star?
Anani thought to herself.
And even if that kind of wishful thinking really is true...do I even have any dreams of my own to come true in the first place?
She blinked and looked up into the golden orange sky.
What are my dreams, exactly?
She blinked.
What is it that I want?
A place?
A Home?
A Family?
Somewhere I belong...
She thought as her hold around the stone tightened.
A friend...
She blinked as she glanced over to an excited Hop who showed his finding to his brother and a curious Professor Magnolia.
Perhaps...if I take this journey...I will discover that for myself.
she thought to herself.
Maybe I...can become Champion.
"Anani! get this!" Hop called out, waving her over,"The Professor says that with these Wishing Stars, our Poke'mon can Dynamax!" he beamed in excitement,"They're gonna be Massive! YESSSSSS!"
"Trust you to pull something like this." Lee chuckled,"They say that Wishing Stars fall for those who have a true wish in their heart, you know?"
...A true wish in their heart...huh?
Anani blinked as she gazed upon the stone in her hand once again.
So...if that's true...what is MY wish then?
She blinked.
Well...
She chuckled.
I guess I'll find out someday!
"I will be the greatest trainer EVER!" Hop beamed as he placed his passion felt wish onto the Wishing Star he held,"There! I've placed my wish upon the Wishing Star, so surely my wish will come true then, right!?"
"Oh, don't be silly, Hop." Magnolia chuckled,"Those Wishing Stars are composed of a peculiar rock that hold a mysterious power to them." she blinked,"They are one of the most precious resources here in the Galar region." she smiled as she took each one carefully from them,"But they won't do a thing for you in this state." she said softly,"Give me a day and I'll have you sorted."
"Right, then!" Hop grinned,"Wow...first I discovered a sleeping Princess in the Slumbering Weald..." he snickered out while Anani puffed her cheeks and gave him another right pop as he chuckled,"Next thing I know We get flash new Poke'mon and battle against that mad Poke'mon within it...and now here we are with this!" he beamed,"It's really starting to feel like we are about to step into a story book adventure of a lifetime!"
"While I understand your excitement young man, you might not want to get too carried away." Magnolia chuckled,"You really ought to save your energy for tomorrow's journey."
"Right then!" Hop grinned,"I suppose we better head on back." he said,"We're gonna want lots of rest for the journey ahead!"
"Before you go, why not stay for dinner?" said Sonia as she had made her way back from the lab,"Can't rest well on an empty stomach, right?"
"Bang on!" said Hop with glee. His excitement was infectuous, and smiles and light laughter spread among the group, beneath the falling sun.
