Chapter 4

Jasper automatically straightens up when he realizes who it is.

"Seriously Peter did you really think that was the best idea right now?"

Peter looks down at his feet ashamed. Then out of nowhere you see a hand come up and slap him hard on the back of his head.

"Oww, seriously woman that hurt."

"I told you not to scare them but noooo, you just couldn't help yourself could you. I swear the Major here dropped you on your head one too many times."

Char walks up from behind Peter smiling kindly at me.

"Oh Bella, I am sorry for this big lug he just can't help himself sometimes."

I can't help but laugh at what she has said.

"It's okay Charlotte just took me by surprise that's all." I walk up to hug her but she catches me by my arms and looks me in my eyes.

"Bella how many times do I have to tell you family calls me Char." She then pulls me into a tight hug. We hear a loud squeal behind us.

"Aunt Char!" Renesme runs and jumps in her arms.

We all just laugh at her. I look to Peter who is still pouting.

"Awe Petey don't pout." I tightly hug him.

"It's good to see you kitten, I am sorry for the scare I was just too excited to see you and lil bit here."

"It's okay Peter we are all just a bit on edge."

Jasper walks up and slaps him hard on the back.

"Yeah captain you know the shit storm we are in right now wasn't the best move, but it is good to see you my brother."

We all look to Char who still has Renesme in her arms.

"I am sorry lil bit, can you ever forget your Uncle Peter?"

Renesme nods eagerly and jumps from Char's arms to Peter's.

Peter takes her in his arms and just spins her around making her squeal in delight.

"Oh lil bit it is so good to see you." He kisses her head.

"Is there any new going on Peter?" Jasper looks at him pointedly.

"Just a couple small things but nothing that we need to really worry about."

I look between them both not knowing what's going on. They are both clearly up to something though and I am determined to find out. I hate when things are kept from me.

Chapter 4 (Jasper's POV)

After Bella and I's conversation last night I was a still bit frustrated. I knew that Edward was not her mate, he doesn't treat her as a mate should.

I also don't feel any kind of love coming from Edward towards Bella. If anything all I feel coming from him is possessiveness. Like he owns her.

I know how much Bella still loves Edward, but for her to think that no one else would ever want her other than Edward is just ridiculous. I know she has her true mate out there but with how she is feeling mentally right now is not good.

When she was human I suspected that the Cullen's were dazzling her, something we vampires only do when we are hunting our prey and want them to not fight us. I haven't had to use it for a long time since we now hunt animals but I can tell when someone is being dazzled.

Anytime Bella would stick up for herself or tell them she didn't like something they would just look at her and she would change her mind. I mean just look at the wedding. Bella clearly never wanted to get married in the first place.

But also the whole wedding just wasn't her style but anytime she would argue with Edward and Alice about wanting to wait to get married they would just warp her brain to think like them.

I think she was so dazzled by everyone as a human that some of it transferred over when she was changed. I can tell she is starting to slowly think for herself but anytime Edward is around that goes out the window.

I do hope she finds her mate soon, I think they will be the only person to finally break her out of this warped mindset all of the Cullen's have put her in. Right now though without her mate she is vulnerable to their control.

When Peter barged in her like he did I just could not control my instincts to protect my sister and niece. He can be so dense sometimes and doesn't think.

60 years ago when I ran into Alice I did not go anywhere with her but Peter told me I needed to leave with her that there will eventually be someone to come into our lives that would need my protecting. He said she would be very important to our family but would also bring the Cullen's to their demise.

Many of our kind have had some kind of interaction with the Cullen's and they are not as well liked as they like to think they are. Other vampires despise them because they like to think they are better than everyone else.

These people that they call friends aren't really their friends at all they're mine and my coven's friends and they will come as a witness because I need them to not because the Cullen's ask them.

Every vampire we have ever had an acquaintance with was warned that one day they would be needed when the Cullen's ask but to not turn them down. They would need to come for someone else's protection.

No one ever questioned Peter or his feelings. We knew that if he said something that important to warn them that we needed to listen and do as he says.

"Is there any new going on Peter?" I ask him pointedly.

"Just a couple small things but nothing that we need to really worry about."

I look at him frustrated that he hasn't said anything to me before now. He just mouths later to me and glances at Bella.

I nod knowing that whatever he has to share with me should not be overheard.

"Well come on then let us show you where you will be staying."

Bella and I head out the back door with Peter and Char on our heels. Bella has already discussed with me how she want's Pete and Char to stay in the cottage with them since she considered them apart of her family and not the Cullen's. She didn't want them to have to stay in that space where she knows the Cullen's wouldn't welcome them.
