The same day Ned woke up excited, Peter Parker made a decision. People not knowing him was fine. He didn't actually know many people anyway. Being erased from every computer and paper record in the world was a constant problem and he'd reached his last straw.
He considered revisiting Doctor Strange to see if the spell could be altered but was reluctant. Strange kept screwing it up. He heard MJ's voice in his memory; "If you're not satisfied, talk to the manager." Who was Strange's boss? The Sorcerer Supreme! He needed to see Wong.
Peter made his way to Bleecker Street where the Sanctum Sanctorum stood. The door opened as he reached to ring the bell. Peter entered but saw no one. Unlike the last time he was here, the mansion seemed to be well taken care of.
"Hello?"
"Who are you?" Wong was suddenly behind Peter, who turned to face him.
"Mr. Wong, my name is Peter Parker."
"How do you know my name."
"We've met before, two years ago. I was here..."
"I've never seen you before."
"You have, sir, but Doctor Strange used the Runes of Kof-Kol and..."
"The Runes of Kof-Kol is a very dangerous spell. It travels the dark borders between known and unknown reality."
"Yes, sir. Anyway, I was wondering if there was any way to alter the effects. I know it's been a long time..."
"Let me guess, Strange didn't ask you to set any parameters before he started casting."
"Parameters?"
"Exceptions. People you don't want to make forget or only want to make partly forget. Things like that."
"No, sir. He started casting and then I said I wanted someone to remember..."
"Tell me everything."
Peter recounted the whole story; the interrupted casting, the visitors from other universes, the Macchinus de Kadavus, the recasting to affect everyone, and so on.
"So now you want to undo part of it?"
"Well, I was trying to renew my driver's license and they wouldn't because I wasn't in the computer. So they said I needed to get a copy of my birth certificate to prove who I was, but the hospital where I was born had no record of it. I can't get a job because my social security number isn't on file. It's really getting to be a problem."
"That's it? No people you want to remember you?"
"If it's possible I'd like my girlfriend, MJ, and my best friend, Ned, to know me again."
"It is possible. A word of caution, however. After this much time your relationships with your friend and girlfriend may not be the same. People move on with their lives."
"I understand, sir."
"I hope so."
Wong led Peter to the Undercroft and made preparations.
"You're sure these are the only exceptions?"
"Yes, sir. Michelle Jones Watson, Ned Leeds, and government records."
"You want the two people to remember you are Spider-Man."
"Yes, sir"
"Stand there and do not speak again until the spell is complete."
Wong began casting. The spell looked very similar to the one Strange cast except Wong was building the runic circle from right to left instead of left to right. After a few minutes Wong waved his arms in a flourish.
"It is done."
"MJ and Ned remember me?"
"They will remember you when they see you, not before."
"I understand. Thank you, Mr. Wong." By the time Peter finished the sentence he was once again on Bleecker Street.
Peter had been following Ned on social media so he knew his friend was living in Boston and attending M.I.T. MJ had no social media but she occasionally appeared in Ned's online pictures. Once they reconnected, Ned could tell him where to find her. Peter felt excited enough to swing all the way there but took the train instead. He was finally getting his life back.
