A/N Hey guys, I know you all are wondering why I'm making a Loonatics Unleashed story and the truth is that I have created one before but I'm suffering from writer's block with that one and I'm not sure if I'm able to continue it anymore.
So, I'm hoping that this story will be even better than my previous Loonatics Unleashed story since that one had a lot of grammar mistakes and I had no idea where to take the story once I was done with the events of both seasons so this was back when I was still new at writing.
Now, I am much more experienced this time so let's hope this one goes well because there will be a few differences this time, now without further ado, enjoy.
I held a focused expression while I was working on my latest project, needing complete concentration for this one since the slightest mistake would not end well and I frowned as I checked the calibrations and didn't see any problems so far but I couldn't take any chances in the event I missed something.
I jotted down a few notes from time to time as I checked and rechecked the device, making a few adjustments now and then if I saw something I didn't like until I was satisfied with the results and stepped back so that I could observe my latest project and I started thinking about how I was going to change the course of history once I presented this to my benefactors.
To think that I was made fun of back when I was a child just for having an interest in science and for having a high IQ, though I suppose that I did scare people away because of how smart I was and my parents did have me take an IQ test so imagine how surprised they were when the results made Einstein look like a kindergartner.
People didn't like that I was smarter than them so it made me a prime target for bullying and I had trouble socializing because of my high IQ so I figured there was no point in making friends or even having a relationship, though that was fine since it gave me more time to work on many projects as I grew older and now I'm the head researcher of a biotech firm that had made a lot of advancements because of my accomplishments.
It was at that moment that one of my assistants entered my lab, a man by the name of Joseph as he was wearing a suit with a lab coat and I turned to look at him with an arched brow since I thought I told him that I didn't want to be disturbed while working on my current project.
"Joseph, I thought I specifically told you that I didn't want to be disturbed while I was working on this project," I stated stoically with a slight hint of irritation in my voice.
"Sorry sir, I know you're busy but this can't wait because the board wanted me to let you know that they are running out of patience and want to see results pretty soon," Joseph told me and I scoffed at that.
"The board doesn't know the first thing about progress or science, just that they want some product to make them money so let them know that they'll get their product as soon as it's ready," I stated with narrowed eyes and Joseph grimaced.
"About that, they also want me to tell you that if you don't show them the results by tomorrow, then they'll have the project shut down for wasting their time...their words, not mine," Joseph added and I scowled at that.
"Typical, I'm about to change the course of history and all they care about is results...Joseph, those morons have never appreciated the hard work I've put into the countless projects that had given this company so much success.
To be honest, they wouldn't be where they are now if it wasn't for me and they never even gave me so much as a thank you despite that, which is quite annoying," I admitted irritably.
"I'm sorry to hear that, sir," Joseph said sympathetically and I sighed before I gestured at my latest project, which looked like a large machine that appeared similar to the gateway in Stargate.
"Have a look at this, my latest project will solve one of man's oldest theories so can you imagine such an accomplishment? Picture this, humanity's been asking themselves for so long if the possibility of other dimensions is real but it had never been proven.
The multiverse theory has been met with a lot of skepticism among the scientific community but if I can prove it, show them that the possibility is there and that other dimensions exist, then imagine how much will be accomplished so I can't let the board just shut this project down because I'm so close to making that dream a reality," I explained as Joseph widened his eyes in shock.
"Incredible...and this will actually work?" Joseph questioned and I nodded.
"I made the last few adjustments, checked and rechecked the calibrations, and all I have to do is test it to ensure it's functioning properly so I'll need your assistance with this since it'll take more than one person to operate it," I said with a slight tone of excitement in my voice.
I had Joseph go over to one of the consoles while I took the other one, but not before I had him put goggles on and I did the same when I started activating the machine while I signaled Joseph to do his part and he made sure the power emitters were stable and all systems were functioning perfectly as the machine started turning on with a loud hum.
I kept an eye on the readings as a blue light started to appear in the middle of the empty gateway and it started growing bigger until it became a blue swirling vortex and I stopped upping the power and left it at its current levels as I removed my goggles, stepping away from the console and standing in front of the vortex as Joseph did the same with his mouth gaping open.
"My god, we actually did it..." Joseph gasped in astonishment and I looked at him while gesturing at the vortex.
"Joseph, we have officially made history," I declared with a small smile, which doesn't usually happen most of the time so the fact that I was smiling shows that we had accomplished something pretty big.
At that moment, I saw a spark coming from the machine and noticed that something was wrong as the vortex started flickering and I was greatly alarmed by the electricity coming off it as Joseph and I gasped before backing away.
"What's happening?!" Joseph exclaimed in alarm and I quickly ran over to one of the consoles before checking what the problem was until my eyes widened in horror when I saw what was wrong.
"Dear God, the energy levels are growing out of control so help me shut it down!" I exclaimed as I attempted to turn off the machine, only nothing was working and Joseph tried to help but he wasn't having any luck either.
"I-It's not shutting down!" Joseph yelled just as the vortex started moving and I felt myself starting to get pulled toward it.
'My god, what have we done?' I thought in complete horror as I realized that we created a miniature black hole that would possibly destroy the building and the surrounding area.
"Williams, we have to evacuate the building so let's hurry!" Joseph shouted as he ran to the door and I was right behind him when I was struck by a chair and sent flying to the vortex as Joseph called out to me, just before I blacked out.
I let out a groan as I was regaining consciousness, slowly opening my eyes and wearily blinking as I felt disoriented when I shook my head to clear the cobwebs and noticed that I was resting against something.
I could see that I was in an alley of some kind and that would explain why it felt like I was resting against a wall as I went to stand up, brushing myself off and frowning as I tried to figure out where I was since I was definitely being flung at the vortex before I passed out.
With that in mind, I started walking to where the exit was and took it slow since I have no idea where or quite possibly when I was sent to so I had to be cautious since I had no idea if the environment I was in was filled with hazards that could kill me or worse.
Once I stepped out of the alley, my eyes widened as I took in everything around me and saw that everything looked like something out of a science fiction movie or TV show as there were hovercars flying above, humans and anthropomorphic animals walking by me while dressed in strange clothes, and more while I was rendered speechless by what I was seeing.
After running the many calculations in my mind, there was no doubt that I was in another dimension and quite possibly in the distant future as well if what I saw told me anything so I was amazed that my project worked, if a bit unorthodox in how it worked but it worked all the same.
'Incredible, I must be the first person to achieve dimensional travel and quite possibly time travel at the same time,' I thought gleefully, though being stuck here was a minor setback that would need to be rectified soon and seeing how highly advanced everything was here, that shouldn't be a problem as long as I get the right components to build a second dimensional gateway.
Still, I need to figure out where and when I was so I started walking in a random direction and did this for a while when I found a screen on the side of a building showing the news as I saw that I was in the city known as Acmetropolis and that the year was 2770.
I was simply astonished that I was that far in the future but it was the city's name that had a sense of familiarity to me, as if I had heard it before but that should be impossible since I just arrived here but then there was another issue I had to deal with, such as finding a job to sustain myself.
The problem with finding a job is that I have a feeling that my college degrees back in my dimension won't work here since people would try and look me up but won't find anything, which would cause suspicion so I would have to apply for a college here and try to get some kind of education so that I could get a job.
With that in mind, I started looking for the nearest public library and asked around for directions when I soon found what I was looking for and headed inside the building, seeing that what counted as books were holographic devices that showed different genres, fiction, and non-fiction so I figured that I should do a little research about this dimension first before I carry out my next move.
I started looking up the history of this dimension and discovered that Acmetropolis used to be called Acme Acres many decades ago, which greatly surprised me since I recognized the name Acme Acres from that cartoon that I used to watch as a kid, Tiny Toon Adventures.
Seeing that I was possibly in the Looney Tunes universe, I wondered if I would encounter the famous toons eventually so I decided to look them up and was taken aback when there were no results, then I kept trying but I couldn't locate any information on the Looney Tunes or the Tiny Toons so the only thing I could think of that made sense is if people eventually stopped watching their shows and the famous toons grew old and passed away until they were eventually forgotten altogether.
That was sad in a way since they had spent so many decades making people laugh and the fact that they eventually faded from memory made me feel a little glum since I loved those shows while growing up and I was mostly fascinated by the way they were able to break the regular laws of physics like it was nothing.
Even so, there was nothing I can do about it now so all I can do was search for a university to put my talents to good use, so I located a holographic computer and signed in as a guest, searching up any nearby universities when I found one that was called the Acme-Tech Institute and looked it up.
From what I could see, the Acme-Tech Institute was a prestigious university where the city planet's greatest minds had gotten their educational degrees, and I saw that the reviews were pretty good as well as I kept looking up information about Acme-Tech and figured that it was perfect for me.
I checked to find a way to apply to Acme-Tech and discovered that I could do it online, which didn't surprise me since pretty much everyone with a computer can apply to a university so I got started and looked through what I needed to do to send an application.
It was pretty easy for me so I filled out the application online and sent it so I should get a response, which could take a few days but then I was surprised to see a message pop up saying that I was accepted into Acme-Tech so that was fast.
'Huh, looks like things happen faster in the future so that's good to know,' I thought as I searched up the address for Acme-Tech and discovered that it wasn't far from here.
With that done, I logged out and shut off the computer before making my way out of the library and followed the directions to the university, walking for a short time until I found the building in question and it looked the same as it did on the university's website as I made my way up the stairs and entered the building until I approached the person working at the front desk.
"Hi, I'm Alex Williams...the one who filed for an application online," I greeted and the lion anthro working at the front desk sent me a confused expression.
"I'm sorry, I wasn't informed that we were receiving student applications so I'm afraid that you'll have to leave," the lion told me with a frown and I gently rubbed my eyes.
"Look, you can check it if you want but I did fill out an application online and sent it here so my name should be on there," I said with an annoyed look as I pointed at the lion's computer and he sighed.
"Okay, I'll call the dean and see if he received any applications on his personal computer but you will leave or I will have security remove you from the building if it turns out that he didn't," the lion told me firmly before he reached over to a highly advanced phone and called the dean of this place.
I spent a short time waiting for him to finish as I was admiring the architecture of this building, seeing just how advanced everything looked and the scientist in me wanted to study the schematics of this place just as the lion was finished talking on the phone and he looked a little embarrassed.
"Mr. Williams, the dean had confirmed that you did send an application here and that you have been accepted into this university so I'm terribly sorry about the misunderstanding," the lion said and I shrugged.
"It's fine, you were just making sure so there's no need to apologize," I said as I was wishing that this conversation would end soon since I get nervous around new people.
"Anyway, one of the staff members should be here soon to take you to your dorm room but it will take a few days to assign you your student ID and all the other essentials you'll need during your stay here," the lion said and I blinked at that.
"That was...fast," I spoke with a look of uncertainty and the lion chuckled.
"Well, this university prides itself on punctuality and hard work so they're probably making sure that you're prepared, but did you come here with your own clothes or school supplies? I can see that you don't have much on you," the lion pointed out as I realized that I would have to buy my own clothes and school supplies, though I doubt the money I have on me would be useful in this dimension.
"Um...not really," I said hesitantly as I rubbed one of my arms and looked down, feeling sheepish as I wondered how I would be able to survive here if I didn't have the money to put food on the table while the lion hummed thoughtfully.
"Tell you what, I know the dean pretty well so I'll talk to him and see if I can convince him to help you out but you'll have to buy things yourself after that since we aren't running a charity here," the lion offered and I nodded.
"Thank you, I really appreciate this," I said just before I spotted a human male in a nicely dressed suit as his brown hair was neatly brushed and he was clean-shaven while he was approaching us and he looked at the lion.
"Is this Mr. Williams, Brian?" the man asked in a British accent and Brian nodded.
"Yes, this is him," Brian confirmed and the man turned to look at me.
"Mr. Williams, I'll be the one to show you to your room so follow me," the man said and we started walking to an elevator before going inside it and starting to go up to where the dorms were.
"So, anything I should know about during my stay here?" I inquired and the man looked at me.
"The room you will be staying in is already occupied by another student here, a rather brilliant one at that so I'm sure you two will get along splendidly," the man explained and I tensed up slightly since I wasn't really comfortable around other people, much less being the roommate of a fellow college student so this is definitely going to be pretty awkward as the elevator came to a stop.
We stepped out of the elevator and started walking down a hall that had doors with room numbers on them as we continued walking until we stopped in front of a door that had the number 302 on it while it also had a keypad, possibly for unlocking the door so the man typed in a code and I heard the lock make a click.
The man opened the door and we went inside the room, then I took in everything around me as the room looked a little bare and had two beds, a closet, a plasma screen TV, and there was a table with chemistry equipment and a high-tech computer while I could see someone there working on something as their back was turned and I couldn't quite tell who it is but the pointy ears and the tail that I could see while the person had brown fur showed me that they were an anthro canine of some kind.
"Tech, I have someone to introduce you to so could you put your current project on hold for a minute?" the man spoke up after clearing his throat to get the canine's attention, and I was completely puzzled by the name so I wondered who would name their kid Tech as the canine stopped what they were doing and sighed.
"Professor Daniels, you know I don't like being disturbed while I'm busy working on a project so is this going to take long?" the canine asked as they turned around and I got a good look at who my new roommate will be as he lifted his goggles that were strapped to his head.
Tech was a brown male anthro coyote with green eyes that had pale yellow scleras as he was wearing an orange turtleneck sweater, white lab coat, green pants, and black boots while he looked at me with a slight frown so I assumed he was probably wondering why I was here when Professor Daniels gestured at me.
"No, it won't take long so I would like to introduce you to your new roommate, Alex Williams. Mr. Williams, this is Tech E. Coyote so I should leave you two to get acquainted with each other since I have work to do," Professor Daniels said until he exited the room, leaving me and Tech to stare at each other while I was shocked to hear my new roommate's name, which sounded similar to Wile E. Coyote's so I wondered if Tech was his descendent or something.
It was nothing but dead silence as Tech started appearing uncomfortable and began twiddling his thumbs while I looked down and started rubbing my arm, feeling very awkward and nervous since I was used to being alone so having a roommate for the first time felt nerve-wracking so I decided to at least try and start a conversation since the silence would probably get to me if I didn't.
"So...I guess we're going to be roommates for the next few years," I said hesitantly and Tech grimaced.
"Yeah...I suppose so," Tech replied quietly and I winced.
'Crap, this is awkward,' I thought uncomfortably as I tried to stay calm unless I broke out into a panic attack and that would not help the current situation.
"Well, I might as well get settled in so I'll let you get back to work on your current project," I said uneasily and Tech nodded before pointing at one of the beds.
"That one's mine so the other one is yours," Tech informed me before he quickly turned around and put his goggles on until he went back to what he was doing previously.
Seeing that he wasn't up for a conversation and that I was too nervous to even try, I went over to what was my bed and sat down on it before running a hand through my black hair and letting out a sigh as I decided to get comfortable for the time being.
After that, it was difficult adjusting to the fact that I was roommates with someone now and that he wasn't even human, but that didn't bother me all that much since I was more concerned with my social anxiety flaring up at the knowledge that I would be roommates with someone now.
But, as bad as that was, it got even worse when we were assigned to be lab partners and I felt light-headed from that and Tech didn't look much better either but we reluctantly pushed on and found ourselves working on different projects.
As time went by, I started finding myself getting more comfortable being roommates and lab partners with someone and Tech wasn't as tense but we rarely interacted unless it was during a project so at least it wasn't as bad as before but I still felt a little socially awkward around Tech since I wasn't used to this.
Still, an entire year had gone by and I had adjusted to being trapped in this world but imagine my surprise when Tech and I were assigned to tutor a new student by the name of Mallory Casey and I was uncertain about it at first while Tech was also hesitant about it, but I grew more interested in how brilliant she was and decided to give it a try.
Turns out that it wasn't all that bad and I felt a little proud of teaching Mallory everything I knew as she learned a lot from me and Tech, but then she and Tech started dating and I was taken aback by that since I didn't think Tech was the type to be interested in having a relationship but I noticed that they started sharing a locker and found that a little odd but it wasn't my place to judge since I had no experience in the romance department.
Other than that, it was pretty uneventful as the three of us were working on a new project that Mallory had come up with and a device to heighten a person's intelligence sounded quite interesting so we worked on the schematics, exchanged ideas, began construction of the project, and checked the system's calibrations as the university's staff was informed about the project and they wanted to see the result for themselves.
As Tech and I were busy typing on the device's console, the university's staff had shown up and were waiting for us to unveil our latest project as I held a focused expression on my face while Tech held a small smile when I noticed that something was off with the system's calibrations and started frowning before I turned to look at Tech.
"Tech, are you seeing this?" I questioned and Tech went to get a closer look before his eyes widened in shock and he turned to look at me.
"Alex, look," Tech said as Mallory was getting ready for the presentation.
I took a closer look at the results and discovered that the device had been modified by Mallory to drain the intelligence of other people and transfer it into herself to amplify her intelligence, much to my horror as I realized that she was going to render the entire university staff brain dead as a form of an experiment to see if the device worked.
"With just the flip of this switch, I will show you what it means to be brilliant," Mallory said as she put on a helmet that was connected to the device, and that seriously alarmed me.
"Tech, we need to stop her right now before she does something she'll regret," I stated urgently just as Mallory turned on the device and it started powering up.
Acting quickly, Tech and I worked quickly on the console to deactivate the machine before it caused irreparable damage and we managed to deactivate the machine on our end, but I noticed that something was wrong as the device started sparking out of control and Mallory suddenly got hit by a bio-electrical neuron feedback that made her scream in pure agony when I saw that the device was going to explode.
"Everybody, take cover!" Tech shouted and that prompted us, as well as the university staff, to start running from the machine and it exploded.
I found myself getting flung to the floor from the explosion and started coughing while I sat up with soot covering me, making me brush myself off and then I fanned the smoke away to see that everyone was okay, just shaken up more than anything else when the building's alarms went off while I went to look at what happened to Mallory.
I was rendered speechless when I saw Mallory, whose head had been enlarged and veins were popping out from her newly huge cranium while she groaned dizzily when she felt her head and her eyes widened when she discovered her mutated head, causing her to let out a scream of horror from what happened to her as she looked around and saw me standing nearby with an expression of shock and disbelief.
When Mallory started glaring at me with barely restrained fury, I assumed that it didn't take long for her to figure out what happened just as I heard Tech talking to someone and I looked to see him speaking to two police officers and pointing at Mallory with narrowed eyes until the two officers started walking to Mallory, cuffing her and reading her rights before they started taking her away and she struggled as Tech walked over to stand next to me.
"You bastards, you ruined my life's work so how dare you! Tech, I will make you and Alex pay, do you hear me?! Someday, I will get you and Alex, you mangey dog!" Mallory roared in pure outrage as she was escorted out of the room.
I just stared at the open doorway for a short time before I looked at Tech, seeing him appearing hurt and betrayed by what happened but he wasn't the only one who felt that way, though I was mostly guilty that I didn't see this coming and felt like I failed Mallory and myself since she had a bright future ahead of her and I should've seen the signs so that I could've steered her down a better path.
Sadly, what's done is done and there's nothing that Tech and I can do about it so I sighed and gestured for Tech to follow me, then we checked to make sure that everyone was okay and I didn't see anything serious so we decided to go back to our room and heard that classes had been canceled for the time being until everything was cleaned up and everyone got checked out by EMTs.
Once all that was over with, Tech and I had made a vow to never become like Mallory so we had to make sure that she wouldn't escape prison to come after us and put people in danger in the process, so we had designed a specially made cell that would be able to prevent her from escaping and the warden of the prison was understanding of how dangerous Mallory was once it was discovered that she can turn anything metal into a weapon because of her ability to conjure bio-electricity.
After we had ensured that Mallory wouldn't escape, Tech and I continued working on different projects or going to class as another year went by until we began working on our senior thesis and prepared it for demonstration as we had informed a few of the university's staff and they were waiting impatiently.
"Alex, you and Tech are keeping us from lunch, now are you both going to demonstrate your senior thesis or not?" one of the professors asked irritably and I was a little annoyed by that but nodded at him all the same.
"Yes sir, we just need to make these last few adjustments and we should be good to go. Tech, start running final safety diagnostics," I said and Tech got started with the last few adjustments, then the professor threw his hands up in exasperation.
"Oh for god's sake, step aside because I'll turn it on myself!" the professor snapped irritably as he shoved me and Tech out of the way before reaching at the nearest button on the console, much to my horror and Tech's if his eyes bugging out were any indication.
"Wait, don't touch the-" Tech tried to warn him as I attempted to grab the professor so that I could get him away from the console.
Sadly, it was too late as he had pushed the button and the machine exploded before Tech and I was flung into a wall and we lay on the floor for a few seconds before slowly getting up, the lab obscured by smoke as we were covered in cuts, bruises, and soot.
"Self-destruct mechanism," I finished weakly with a pained groan while coughing and fanning the smoke away before we just stumbled out of the lab and somehow got out of the building without collapsing, staggering down the stairs and turning around to look at the building as Tech held what was left of our project in one hand.
"Our baby," Tech whimpered, looking like he was about to cry as he stared at the remains in despair when the professor came storming out of the building while his suit was slightly torn and he was covered in soot, the man glaring at us.
"I used to think you two were brilliant, now I think you both are crazy so leave and never come back," the professor groaned with a sharp edge in his voice before he stormed back into the building.
"Wait, it did work so just give us a chance!" Tech exclaimed desperately but the professor was gone.
"Tech, he's not going to listen so just forget trying to convince him," I said bitterly as I held a scowl when Tech just collapsed to the ground and started tearing up while I rested my hands on my knees.
"But it does work, if only someone can see that," Tech mumbled as he looked completely heartbroken, just before the ground started shaking and I tried to keep my balance.
"W-What the-" I tried to say as I heard a rumbling sound and Tech quickly got up, recoiling and shielding his arms just in case something else blew up in the building when I saw people running down the street as I heard them screaming in terror.
I was more than alarmed by seeing them looking so terrified when I spotted a huge bright light with a fiery tail plummeting from the sky and I was horrified as I recognized it as a large meteor when Tech turned and he saw it as well before his mouth dropped open in shock, just before the meteor went crashing into the bay many blocks from here and it caused a major shockwave that was rapidly approaching where we are at a frightening speed as buildings were getting destroyed, as well as people and vehicles getting flung around like toys.
"Oh my god, run!" I shouted in pure terror before Tech and I started running in the opposite direction of where the shockwave was coming from, only it was no use and we got sent airborne by the shockwave as the force rendered me unconscious.
A/N Well, the meteor had crashed in the bay and caused lots of destruction so I doubt most people will be okay after that but either way, the next chapter will show the aftermath of the meteor hitting the planet, Alex and the other Loonatics being gathered together by Zadavia, and the team going on their first mission after getting the tower and Tech and Alex designing the suits.
Anyway, I know you're going to point out that no one is accepted into a university that fast but the truth is that I've never gone to college or applied to one so I'm a bit clueless on that front, so I improvised a bit there and it's the distant future so maybe things work differently there.
Also, I don't care if you guys complain about Alex and Tech getting paired up since there aren't a lot of Tech x OC stories on this site and they have plenty in common so I'm pairing them together whether you like it or not.
Oh, and if some of you decide to insult me or treat me like garbage just because it's a gay pairing, let me be clear by saying that shit like that is not appropriate since I already had someone do that in the review section on one of my stories just because it had a gay pairing so I'll start blocking people if they so much as start treating me like crap because I've dealt with enough assholes in my life so I won't be taking shit from people like that anymore.
Anyway, now that I've gotten that out of my system, let me know what you think and stay tuned.
