Izuku wakes up, dreading the day ahead of him. He has school again and he knows Bakugo and his friends are going to be there. He heads down the stairs after making his bed and getting dressed.

"Good morning," his mom says.

"Good morning," Izuku replies gloomily.

"What's wrong?"

"Nothing," Izuku responds, not wanting his mom to find out about him being bullied. Izuku eats breakfast and makes his lunch.

"Bye!" Izuku calls as he opens the front door to leave.

"Bye, have a great day!" His mom shouts back.

At recess Izuku sits by himself reading a book. In the corner of his eye he sees Bakugo and his friends walking in his direction.

"Hey!" Izuku yells as Bakugo takes his book and throws it. "What was that for?"

"Remember what you did the other day, loser? Here's a hint, you pushed me into the wall," Bakugo says. "Now I can get my pay back." One of Bakugo's friends grabs Izuku from behind. He has long fingers and wears a blue hoodie.

"Let go of me!" Izuku cries. Bakugo's other friends go and distract the teachers so that they won't notice Bakugo attacking Izuku. Bakugo runs towards Izuku with explosions in his hands. Bakugo punches Izuku and hits him with explosions.

I need to conjure negative emotions, Izuku thinks to himself. As Bakugo continuously punches him Izuku's hatred starts building up.

"Stop!" Izuku commands.

Bakugo's body goes numb.

Izuku breaks from the grip of long fingers and pushes the kid away from him. As Izuku gets ready to punch Bakugo something stops him. I can't punch him. I could hurt him and it isn't the right thing to do.

Izuku turns around and starts to walk away. Before he takes his first step Bakugo comes from behind and punches him into the ground. Izuku rolls to face Bakugo and sees a cruel smile on his face.

I should yell Akino's name, Izuku ponders. But he can't come to the school, he could get arrested.

Bakugo starts charging up a big explosion but before he can hit Izuku the bell rings for lunch.

"You're lucky, Midoriya, I'll get you after school."

Izuku gets up and walks to get his book. He wipes the dirt off of it as he picks it up.

At lunch Izuku sits by himself. He doesn't have many friends because he didn't have a quirk back when everyone else developed their quirks. Izuku hears laughing and looks to the right. He sees the table where all the popular kids sit and notices Bakugo pointing at him.

"What are you looking at, loser?" A kid with wings sneers. Izuku looks away and goes back to eating his rice balls. He can hear the kids laughing at him. His last class goes by fast and it's already the end of school. Izuku leaves and starts to walk home. He hears footsteps behind him and turns around. He sees Bakugo and his friends behind him. Izuku turns the corner and starts to run.

"Get back here!" Bakugo shouts as he chases Izuku. His friends are running alongside him. Bakugo starts to catch up to Izuku and is a couple feet away from him. Izuku builds up his negative emotions and starts to use his quirk to run faster and get further away from Bakugo. Bakugo uses his quirk to catch up and his winged friend flies along with him.

"Stop chasing me, Kacchan!" Izuku yells.

"No!" Bakugo responds angrily.

As Izuku turns the corner Bakugo and his friends catch up and grab him. Multiple hands hold Izuku and cover his mouth so that he can't speak. They drag him to a dark alley so no one can see them using their quirks to beat up Izuku. While Bakugo's friends hold Izuku down Bakugo uses his quirk to cause Izuku extreme pain.

"Stop!" Izuku tries to yell but the sound is muffled due to the hands covering his mouth. I have to do something! Izuku thinks frantically. Maybe Akino can help if I can call him. Izuku breaks free from the grip of the hands holding him down and gets his mouth free.

"Akino!" He calls as he gets grabbed again.

"What did you say?" Bakugo says confused. Bakugo goes back to hitting Izuku.

I guess it didn't work, he thinks, depressed. Probably doesn't want to be bothered by kids.

A big man steps around the corner. He has no eyes and wears a metal mask that covers his mouth. The kids instantly stand up and let go of Izuku.

"Walk away old man," Bakugo commands.

"Now, that's not a respectful way to talk to your elders, " the man replies.

"Akino!" Izuku shouts excitedly.

"You know this guy?" Bakugo asks. "I'm not surprised you're friends with him. You don't have any other friends."

"That's not very kind," the man states.

"I don't care. Now walk away before you get beat up!" Bakugo shouts, irritated.

"Are you sure you want to fight me?"

"Kacchan don't, you could get hurt!" Izuku says.

Bakugo rushes at the man. Akino dodges swiftly and pushes him into the wall.

Bakugo's friends start to attack Akino but they all get beaten up. Bakugo gets back up and starts to attack Akino again. Akino seems like he is playing with him. Akino dodges all the punches and launches a flurry of counter attacks. Bakugo is able to dodge all of them and hits Akino.

"You're good at fighting," Akino comments. "And you have such a powerful quirk."

Bakugo continuously attacks Akino but gets hit hard into the wall. Akino pins him and holds him there with his hand on Bakugo's throat.

"Wh-what are you doing?" Bakugo whimpers.

"Ahh, that feels good!" Akino exclaims, as he drops Bakugo to the ground.

Bakugo's friends pick him up and start to run away.

"What did you do to him?" Izuku asks.

"Nothing," Akino replies.

"Ok. Thank you for helping."

"You're welcome."

"I got attacked earlier too."

"Why didn't you call me?"

"'Cause it was at school."

"Well then, you need to learn to fight back."

"But I could hurt them," Izuku objects.

"There's nothing wrong with self defense. They attacked you first and you're allowed to stop them from hurting you."

"O-ok."

"Do you know how to use the quirk?"

"A little. I know it requires negative emotions."

"It uses negative emotions to enhance physical abilities and allows you to numb opponents with them. Now let's practice using your quirk."

"Yay!"

Ding! Izuku's phone beeps. "Where are you?" a text from his mom says. "I'm hanging out with my friend. Be back in a couple hours," Izuku responds.

"Who was that?" Akino asks.

"It was my mom. Now let's train!"

"Ok."

After a couple hours of training Izuku is winded but he can feel that he's grown stronger.

"Thank you so much for helping me train!" Izuku says gratefully.

"You're welcome," Akino replies cheerfully.

Creak! Izuku enters his house through his loud front door.

"Hi!" Izuku's mom calls. "How was it?"

"It was fun!" Izuku shouts back.

"That's good. Dinner is ready."

"Ok." Izuku sits down to eat dinner and thinks about the day he had and what Akino said about self-defense being ok even if you hurt the other person.

"What did you do?"

"We played and talked about heroes," Izuku says, knowing full well that he is lying to his mom. He feels a drop of guilt but it soon disintegrates. "Thank you for dinner."

"You're welcome. I'm glad you had a good day and got to hang out with your friend. Tomorrow I work late so I'll make a rice bowl in the morning and put it in the fridge for you to eat."

"Ok." Izuku gets up and washes his dishes and does his homework.

"Good night!" Izuku says as he heads upstairs.

"Good night Izuku, have a good night's sleep," his mom replies.

"You too." Izuku brushes his teeth and jumps in bed. He thinks about what tomorrow will be like and before long he is drooling on his pillow with a big smile on his face.

Izuku wakes up tired. After going through intense training his body feels sore. He goes down stairs and sees his lunch already made. He sees a note next to it. "Sorry I had to leave early, Love Mom." Izuku quickly eats breakfast and heads out the door to go to school.

"Izuku!" Izuku wakes up to the sound of his teacher's voice calling his name. "Pass in your test."

"Wh-What?" Izuku asks, perplexed. He can hear giggles coming from the kids in his class. Shoot! I fell asleep in class, Izuku thinks. "What did you say?"

"Pass in your test, please."

"Ok." Izuku quickly checks his sheet. Yes! I answered all the questions before I fell asleep, Izuku thinks while he turns his sheet in.

"Thank you." The bell rings and the kids start to get up. "Ok kids, time for recess. Since you guys did a great job on your tests today you guys get extra recess."

"Yay!" the kids respond happily.

Izuku walks to the playground by himself with his notebook in hand. He starts to conjure negative emotions and writes down all the things he knows about his quirk.

"You've been really lucky," Bakugo says as he steps in front of Izuku. "But today there's no one here to help you."

Bakugo's friends have distracted the teacher and another 3 of them hold Izuku down and cover his mouth. Bakugo starts to punch Izuku in the stomach.

I can't use my quirk, Izuku thinks. I could hurt him.

But Akino said self defense is ok. Another part of Izuku's states. Maybe this once. Izuku charges up negative energy, breaks free from the grip of hands, and punches Bakugo in the stomach. Bakugo is blasted into the air and falls to the ground. Right after hitting Bakugo Izuku feels a feeling of relief wash over him.

"Ow!" Bakugo exclaims. "So now we're using quirks?" Bakugo gets up and is ready to make explosions but nothing happens. "What's happening?" Bakugo asks. "Why can't I make explosions?"

"I don't know," Izuku replies, confused.

"It was that guy yesterday! The one that protected you. It has to be him! He did something to me. What did he do to me?"

"I-I don't know," Izuku says sympathetically.

"I'm gonna kill you, Midoriya!" Bakugo and his friends start to punch and kick Izuku.

"Stop!" Izuku commands. The kids' bodies go numb and just stand there. It stops them momentarily. Izuku takes the chance to escape. Before he can get far Bakugo and his friends break free.

"Where do you think you're going?" Bakugo shouts as he chases Izuku. Eventually he catches up to Izuku and tackles him. The kids get into another brawl and Izuku fights back.

Is this the right thing to do? To hurt them? Izuku feels an ounce of guilt but that quickly disappears when the kids get back up. They continue to fight aggressively.

"Stop that!" A teacher shouts at them. The teacher walks to them angrily. "We don't attack others here! All of you are coming with me to the principal's office!"

At the principal's office all the kids get talked to individually. Izuku tells his story and the principal of Masegaki Primary School believes him and tells Izuku the consequences of his actions. All the kids get detention for a month and wait for their parents to pick them up.

"How do you have a quirk?" Izuku's mom asks in the car ride home.

"Someone gave it to me," Izuku replies.

"What is your quirk?"

"I can enhance my physical attributes and numb people with negative emotions."

"Ok, how do you have a quirk and who gave you a quirk?"

"I can't tell you."

Inko huffs. "Why?"

"Because something could happen to them."

"Ok," she agrees but Izuku could hear the dubious tone in her voice. "So why didn't you tell me you had a quirk?"

"Because I didn't want you to freak out."

"Well, today you did make me freak out when I heard you punched kids at your school from your principal!"

"But they attacked me first!"

"I know, I know, but who taught you to fight back?"

"No one."

"I know it was someone because you're not the type of person to fight back."

"Fine, my friend taught me."

"Is that friend the one who gave you a quirk?"

"Yes."

"Is that also the friend who you were hanging out with yesterday?"

"Yes."

"Why did they tell you to fight back?"

"Because I told them I was getting bullied."

"By who?"

"Bakugo."

"Ok."

"Why are you not surprised?"

"Because I already knew that he was bullying you."

"How?"

"I always wondered why you hated school so I came to the conclusion that you were being bullied. When I asked the school they wouldn't say anything so I started to go to the park unnoticed on my way to work and saw Bakugo bullying you."

"Then why didn't you do anything?"

"Because you never told me and I felt like you would be mad at me if I did something. Besides, why do you think I have lots of supplies in the medicine cabinet?

"Ok."

"Now back to your friend. I don't want you hanging out with them!"

"But…"

"I don't care. I don't want you hanging out with them. Do you understand?"

"Alright," Izuku says reluctantly.

"Also next time something comes up I want you to tell me."

"I promise I will the next time something happens."

"Good. I have to work late tomorrow to make up for me leaving to pick you up."

"Ok."

"Now, let's go home!"

They arrive at their house and eat dinner. Izuku goes upstairs and jumps in bed. She doesn't understand. Akino has helped me a lot! I'll talk to him tomorrow after school and ask his opinion on what I did at school today, Izuku thinks as his head hits the pillow. Izuku falls unconscious quickly and starts to dream.
