The following day Izuku sits by himself at lunch. He sees the kids at the popular table laughing and pointing at something. He looks where they are pointing at and sees Bakugo sitting by himself.
"Why are you sitting by yourself?" Izuku asks as he sits next to Bakugo. He can hear the burst of laughter coming from the kids at the popular table.
"I'm sitting by myself because my quirk doesn't work and my friends are making fun of me.. What do you want?" Bakugo asks angrily.
"I wanted to give you company since you were sitting by yourself."
"Well, I don't want your company!" Bakugo gets up and walks away.
The day goes by and before he knows it school is over. Mom is working late again so I can go see Akino before going home, Izuku thinks. Izuku goes through streets and alleys to find the warehouse where he trained with Akino. When he gets there he sees Akino training with another kid. He enters the warehouse and sees that it is Ren.
Whoosh! A fireball flies past Izukus's head.
"Izuku?" Ren asks, confused.
"Hi Ren," Izuku replies.
"What are you doing here?"
"I am here to see Akino. What are you doing here?"
"I'm here to train with Akino. How do you know Akino?"
"He gave me my quirk."
"Oh really?"
"Yeah. How do you know him?"
"I met him and ever since he's been training me."
"Nice. How did you throw the fireball though?"
"I can create and manipulate any type of energy including thermal energy."
"Why did you lie to me about only being able to manipulate electricity?"
"Because I have been lying all my life about my quirk. I don't want others to find out or people will be watching me cause I have such a powerful quirk."
"Ahem," Akino coughs.
"Oh sorry," Ren says.
"Can I train with you guys?" Izuku asks.
"Sure!" Ren and Akino reply.
They train for a couple hours and Izuku feels himself getting better with his quirk. He sees how Ren uses kinetic energy to make his hits more powerful and potential energy to slow opponents' attacks.
"Your quirk is really powerful!" Izuku exclaims as he and Ren walk out of the warehouse.
"Yeah, my mom has the same quirk," Ren replies. "Wanna come to my house?"
"Sure, let me text my mom." Izuku quickly texts his mom and follows Ren to his house.
"Wow! You have a nice house!"
"Yeah, we're pretty rich. My dad is a villain."
"Nice, but why would you tell me?"
"Because you know Akino and I trust you, so don't tell anyone."
"Ok."
"Welcome back, honey," Ren's mom, Chiyo, says as Ren opens the door. "You must be Izuku!" She adds, looking at Izuku expectantly.
"Hi, Ms. Hiroshina," Izuku responds as he enters the house. "Thank you for having me over."
"You're welcome. Ren, dinner is ready so you can go eat. Would you like to join us, Izuku?"
"Sure, thank you for letting me eat."
"You're welcome. Tonight our chef made Katsudon."
"Really? Katsudon is my favorite food!"
"Me too!" Ren exclaims. The two friends eat dinner and go downstairs to play.
"Why do you have a basketball court in your basement?" Izuku asks.
"Because basketball is my favorite sport. Wanna play?"
"Sure! But I've never played before."
"It's ok. I can teach you."
"Ok." The two kids play basketball for some time and eventually go upstairs to Ren's room and start brainstorming ways to use their quirks.
"Bye Izuku," Ren and his mom say as Izuku leaves Ren's house. His mom is waiting for him since it's dark.
"Bye! Thank you for having me over!" Izuku calls back.
"You're welcome! Come back any time!" Ren's mom shouts.
I found a true friend, Izuku thinks to himself, as he gets into their car. Ren is kind to me and amazing, I wanna be friends with him for the rest of my life.
"Hi mom," Izuku says.
"Hi Izuku, you stayed at Ren's house for a long time. Did you have fun?" His mom asks, as she drives down the road, heading towards their house.
"Yes, I did. Thanks for letting me go to his house."
"You're welcome. I'm just glad you found a friend."
"Yeah. Ren is very cool."
"By the way I didn't make dinner because Ren's mom texted me to say you already ate there."
"Yeah I did. They made Katsudon."
"Your favorite! Now, you have to go to bed as soon as we get home since you have school tomorrow."
"Ok," Izuku agrees. He's getting tired now.
When they get home, Izuku wishes his mom a good night and then heads upstairs and goes to bed.
The next day, Friday, Izuku wakes up ready for the day ahead of him. His mom said that he could go over to Uraraka's house and play with her.
"Hi Izuku," Ochaco's mother says as she opens the door.
"Hi Ms. Uraraka," Izuku replies, "Thanks for having me over."
"You're welcome. Uraraka is in her room right now. Her bedroom is at the end of the hall when you go up the stairs."
"Ok." Izuku goes up the stairs and heads into Uraraka's room. "Hi Uraraka!" Izuku says excitedly as he enters
"Hi Izuku!" Uraraka replies.
"How are you doing?"
"I'm doing well. What about you?"
"I'm good. I wanted to ask what your quirk is?"
"It's Zero Gravity."
"Cool! How does it work?"
"Everything I touch with five fingers can gain zero gravity."
"Cool! Can you increase gravity?"
"I don't know. I've never tried."
"Well, maybe we can try later?"
"Sure! What's your quirk?"
"I can enhance my physical abilities and numb people with negative emotions."
"Nice."
"Yeah, it's really cool. What do you wanna do?"
"How about we go to the park near here?"
"Sure." Izuku and Uraraka walk to the park and start to play there. They take turns pushing each other on the swing set and run around. Eventually they get tired and rest in the shade. They see some kids approaching the park.
"Hey, is that Izuku?" One of the kids asks as they get closer. Izuku's eyes open wide as he realizes they are from his school.
"Yeah it is," another kid says. "Looks like the loser finally got a friend." The other kids start to laugh.
"Who are they?" Uraraka asks.
"They bully me at school," Izuku responds.
"Really?"
"Yeah, they're really mean."
"That sucks. We should leave."
"Ok." The two friends get up and start to leave but they quickly get surrounded. "What do you guys want?" Izuku asks.
"We want payback. Remember when you fought back during recess?" A kid with wings asks.
"Yeah, but you guys attacked me first."
"We don't care. You're a loser and shouldn't be able to fight back." The kids rush at Izuku and Uraraka, starting to throw punches.
"Ow!" Uraraka exclaims after getting hit.
I can't let Uraraka get hurt, Izuku thinks to himself. Something snaps in Izuku and he starts to fight back viciously. "Stop!" Izuku commands. All of the kids' bodies go still.
"What did you do to them?" Uraraka asks.
"It's a part of my quirk," Izuku responds.
Izuku grabs Uraraka's hand and they start to run away. The kids quickly break free and start to chase them. Izuku and Uraraka gain a good lead but the winged kid flies ahead and trips them, which allows the other kids chasing them to catch up and surround them. They start to attack. Izuku fights back but there are too many of them and he gets held down with his mouth covered by some of them. The remaining kids hold Uraraka and start to punch her while the others punch Izuku.
"Stop!" Uraraka cries.
I'm so useless, Izuku thinks to himself, I can't do anything.
Flash, a sliver of lightning shocks all the kids and they let go of Uraraka and Izuku. A boy hops down with a red hoodie. He turns around and Izuku's eyes go wide in shock.
"Ren?" Izuku asks, perplexed.
"Hi Izuku," Ren responds.
"What are you doing here?"
"I was coming to the park to play and I saw them chasing you." The kids get up and see Ren.
"Ooh loser has another friend," one of the kids says. "Now we can beat them both up."
Izuku and Ren tag team the kids, like they learned last night in training and knock them all out.
"Who are you?" Uraraka asks.
"I'm Izuku's friend," Ren responds.
"Thank you."
"You're welcome."
"Well, what do you guys wanna do?" Izuku asks.
"We can test out quirks like you originally wanted to Izuku," Uraraka replies.
"Sure," Ren says in agreement. The trio test out their quirks and try to find new ways to use them for the rest of the day.
"Bye." They all say to each other as they head in different directions. Izuku goes home and tells his mom about the day and goes to bed happy that he has good friends.
