Tails lead Sonic to a work shop, where there was a pink hedgehog like Sonic, only she had a red dress with a white frill, and boots with a stripe down the top to the toe.

"Hey Tails!" said Amy, "I see you brought a new friend. My name's Amy Rose."

"Rose? That's the last name of my mom and one of my sisters," said Sonic.

"Oh," said Amy, "Really? Do you think we could be related?"

"Actually, they're my step family. I never really knew my real family growing up."

"Oh," said Tails, "I'm sorry. I'm orphan as well. But, I got Amy who always stood up for me, and we were like brother and sister ever since."

However, Sonic then frowned a bit, feeling a bit sad.

"What's wrong?" asked Amy.

"My family's currently kidnapped by this crazy wacko," said Sonic, "He goes by the name of Robotnik."

"Oh dear!" said Amy, "That's horrible! Can we help you?"

"If you have a means of transport, then yes. I need to get back to Vale, I know of someone who can help us."

"Well, you're in luck," said Tails, revealing his biplane, "I give you, the Tornado!"

"Wow!" said Sonic, "Not what I was expecting, but, it works."

"Well, it was powered by this," said Tails, showing them a green gem that looked like a diamond. However, Sonic instantly recognized it from a story that Summer used to read to him and his siblings when they were younger.

"Is that... a Chaos Emerald?"

"Yes," said Tails, "They're real!"

"That's incredible!" said Sonic, "With this baby, we'll be really strong!"

Just then, the ground broke behind them, and from the hole, came a red echidna with spiked boxing gloves.

He looked at the group, and said, "I'm in need of that Emerald."

"What's the reason?" asked Tails.

"I have no time for questions," said the echidna, "I need it."

Sonic then stepped up, and said, "Sorry, but we need that Emerald to save my family from a mad man!"

"I wish you luck to save your family, but that Emerald is coming with me."

Sonic then rammed into the echidna, flinging him across the forest.

"You dare to hit me, Knuckles, the last of the Echidna Tribe!?"

"Yeah, because nothing, is getting in the way of saving my family!"

Knuckles then pounded his fists together, and charged, only for Sonic to dodge.

Sonic then hit Knuckles multiple times, and knocking him over.

However, Knuckles managed to place a well placed punch, and slam Sonic into a tree.

"Wow!" said Sonic, "You really pack a punch!"

"As you are fast," said Knuckles.

Sonic then charged for a kick, only for Knuckles to tunnel under the ground.

As for the others, Tails and Amy were getting the Tornado ready for take off. However, there was a rumbling, and then, Knuckles came out, right from under Tails.

Knuckles then looked around, and grabbed the Emerald.

He was about to leave, when Amy slammed her hammer down on Knuckles' head, making him drop it.

She then hit him like a baseball out of the workshop, and all the way to the coast.

"TAKE THAT! NO ONE HURTS MY FRIENDS!" she yelled.

Sonic then came in, and said, "Who did that?"

"That was me," said Amy.

"Oh, that was an impressive hit. He really flew away."

Amy then blushed, "Oh, it was nothing!"

"Hey guys!" said Tails, "Let's get going! We need to get to Vale!"

"Right!" said Sonic, climbing on the wing.

"You sure you'll be okay on the wing like that?" asked Amy.

"Yeah, I road like this on a motorcycle many times before, so I'm sure a plane won't be any different."

"Okay, time for take off."

The tornado then started up, and Tails drove it out of the workshop, and into a clearing, where they took off. However, Raven was close behind them, flying in her raven form.

Meanwhile...

Knuckles was picking himself up, and dusting off the sand.

Just then, he got a call, and looked at the caller.

"Yes... I found the Emerald, but it's in the hands of a two tailed fox, along with a pair of pink and blue hedgehogs... The blue one is with the generals who refuse to help you?... Well, let us see how they will be when we bring the emeralds to them... What? Return? But the Emeralds... Fine. I will."

Knuckles hung up, and walked off in the distance.

As he did, there was a group of racists who decided to taunt him.

"Well well well," said the leader, "Look at this guy! Trying to look strong with big hands. Look at him, those muscles are a complete joke! You think you're strong, tough guy!? I'll let you have the first hit!"

He then poked Knuckles' nose, and stood ready for a weak punch. But Knuckles gave him an uppercut, that launched him 100 ft into the air, and landing in the water.

Knuckles then turned to the others saying, "Do not touch me."

They then ran off, and Knuckles continued on his way.
