Love Can Be Deceiving – A Wizards of Waverly Place Fanfiction….

A/N – Here is my new idea; I hope you all like it. I recently re-watched WOWP and noticed the lack of fanfics being written for a while, so I thought this could hopefully help. This story is set around season four of the show but before the family competition. So, this is putting Max and my OC character around fifteen. Also, Max will be a lot smarter in this fanfic; I didn't like how dumb they made his character, so I'm hoping to bring him so justice!

Anyway, I own nothing From WOWP. I only own my OC.

Please give this a chance; thank you! Enjoy!

Chapter 1

Fifteen-year-old Mallory Walker exited the taxi and stood before her new school, Tribeca Prep. Looking at the new school, Mallory felt the typical nervous, anxious feelings of being the new kid at a new school had started sinking in. Looking at the building before her, Mallory sighed as she shifted her book bag from her right shoulder to her left. Memories of her last school flooded back into her mind, and her last home, the sweet memories. New York was nothing like Ohio, but they had to move due to her parent's profession.

Taking a deep breath, Mallory pushes the memories out of her mind as she heads into the school. Entering the building, Mallory first notices the main hallway, with lockers lined along the walls, a staircase to the second floor, and the principal's office on the far-left side. Sighing, Mallory goes to the office to get her class schedule and start her day. Upon entering, Mallory sees the receptionist sitting at the desk, busy. However, as she walked up to the desk, Mallory swallowed a little when the receptionist looked up, noticing her.

"Name?"

"Uh…Mallory Walker…I'm new…." Mallory answered as she waited anxiously.

The receptionist typed on her computer before the printer went off. Mallory watched as the receptionist got up and grabbed the paper. The receptionist gave her papers. Mallory took them with shaking hands.

"Here is your class schedule; you're in tenth grade. Along with your schedule are the Tribeca Prep handbook and a school map." The receptionist smiles. "Inside the packet is your information that we'll need to fill out and turn in when you can. If you need anything, don't hesitate to ask, and welcome to Tribeca Prep, have a wonderful day!"

With that, the receptionist started to force Mallory out of the office, clearly wanting not to be bothered and get back to her work. Looking annoyed back at the office, Mallory sighed and made a mental note to talk to the principal about that some other time. Glancing down at her schedule, Mallory frowned, not knowing where anything was.

Math – Mrs. Fowl – Room 201
English – Mr. Rosenburg – Room 305
Spanish – Mrs. Taylor – Room 310
Social Studies – Mrs. Allen – Room 208
Lunch
Science – Mr. Dundy – Room 210
Study Hall – Mr. File – Room 230
Physical Education – Mrs. Rose – Gym room

Mallory looks up and eyes the school hallway again as the bell rings. Starting to panic, she pulls her map out and tries to read it. After finding her first room, Mallory starts heading in that direction as fast as possible. But when she rounded the first corner, Mallory collided with someone, causing both to fall in surprise.

When the two figures hit the ground, Mallory groaned and tried to get up. However, as she went to move, Mallory realized the figure was on top of her. Looking up to see who she had run into, Mallory blushed when she saw it was a boy about her age. Not just any boy, an attractive boy, who she, for once in her life, wouldn't mind if they stayed how they were. But once the second bell rang, it made the two get up and get their things.

"I'm sorry – "

Mallory and the strange boy both laughed as they tried to apologize simultaneously. Mallory started to pick her things up, but the boy seeing this helped her, making it faster. After he picked up the items, the boy handed them to Malloy.

"Um…thank you – "Mallory began as she blushed while taking the items from him. "– Sorry for running into you; I'm late to class."

"Oh, no worries, it was an accident." The boy grinned, "I wasn't watching where I was walking either. I'm also late to class…"

Mallory eyes him, "I see; you don't seem concerned about being late."

The boy shrugs. "Nah, school is an option for me." The boy said, making Malloy laugh. The boy smiled at her, "Max Russo."

At this, Mallory smiled and shook his hand, "Mallory Walker."

"Nice to meet you, Mallory; are you new here? I haven't seen you around before." Max wondered as he eyed her with interest.

Nodding, Mallory smiles, "Actually, I am new, today is my first day, and I'm lost."

Max grins and says, "I can help you find your way. Can I see your schedule?"

"Are you sure? I don't want to get you into trouble for being late." Mallory explained as she frowned at the boy.

But Max just nodded, and she handed him her schedule. "Yeah, like I said earlier, school is an option for me. My teachers are used to me being late." Max explained as he grinned.

At this, Mallory couldn't help but smile. While Max looked over her schedule, Mallory took the chance to look Max over once more. Again, he was beautiful. His brown bush hair stood out, brown eyes and toned skin. Along with the features, Mallory couldn't help but notice that Max had some arm muscle and wondered if he was fit in the rest of his body, he looked like someone who worked out frequently.

Another thing that stood out to Mallory was Max's height. The boy had to be a foot taller than her, with Mallory reaching his shoulders. Blushing, Mallory smiled as the boy pulled down her schedule and eyed her.

"Your first class is Math with Mrs. Fowl. I have that, too; I'll take you there!" Max stated as he grinned.

Before Mallory could protest, Max already had his hand in hers, pulling her towards the classroom with him. Arriving at the classroom, Mallory settled in, sitting in the only open seat that happened to be right next to Max. Once she sat down, Mallory managed to get through class alright. Taking notes, asking questions if she needs to, and chatting with her fellow students to get to know others in her class. Looking over at Max, Mallory noticed that Max was also looking at her; the two smiled at one another. Soon, the bell rang, signaling the end of class.

Mallory continued to let Max show her around the school throughout the day. While doing so, Mallory got to know Max more and vice versa. Mallory learned that Max had two siblings, lived with his parents still and that his family owned the Waverly Sub Station on Waverly Place. Mallory told Max about her parents and three other siblings as well. Mallory also told Max that her family had just moved to the apartment complex down the street on Waverly Place; the two didn't live far from one another.

So, Max offered to walk Mallory home to show her around New York once school ended. Coming from Ohio, not knowing anything about New York, Max, the only person Mallory knew about, took up his offer. Together the two walked home from Tribeca Prep, and Mallory couldn't help but think that her relationship with Max was the beginning of something extraordinary. Little did she know, he was hiding a secret, just like she was…
