Dean walked into library holding a beer for himself and a cup of hot tea for Charlie. Sam looked up at him wondering what he was going to say to them. He handed Charlie her cup. "I feel like I've been called to the principal's office," she said to him as she accepted the cup from him.
He sat down and looked at them both. "I told Sam to not do this! You can't save me! I'm gone." He took a drink of his beer as he thought about what he wanted to tell them.
"Didn't you think I wouldn't at least TRY to find a cure?"
"No, Sam I knew you would but you almost got Charlie killed! The only thing that saved her was you had sense enough to leave them a loaded gun and tell her to shoot for the head first." He took another drink and looked at Charlie. "I'm sending you back to Oz...no more hunting for you, kiddo." She started to say something and he just shook his head. "It's not up for discussion. We'll open a portal in the garage like before and you walk through it. Tell Dorothy that we...that I need you safe. I can't …" he looked at her and all he could see was the tiny girl walking out of the bathroom holding a gun running into the safety of his arms. "I can't lose who I love when I know that I'll probably either have to walk away or turn into a monster you'll have to shoot in the head."
Charlie nodded as she drank her tea. She understood that Dean just didn't want her to see him become a monster and this was his surefire way to protect her one last time. "Ok, Dean, but I want to be able to come back when everything is ok, when Sam saves you and you're just Dean again." He rolled his eyes but nodded reluctantly at her making her smile.
"Once the final plan, whatever it is, is finished, one of us will call for you if you want to come back for a visit." She gave him an eye roll of her own. "A VISIT...no hunting, no anything like that. You come back, have dinner, get the latest tech, then back to Oz." She nodded with a look of disappointment on her face. He got up and gave her a kiss on the top of her head. "You know if you and Dorothy ever need anything to deal with problems over there, you can just call...Sam." With that last thought, he turned and walked out of the library to get things ready to send her back to Oz.
Charlie and Sam stood up to follow him to the garage. "Sam, I finished the translations. I emailed them to you. The emails are encrypted but…"
He put his arms around her and just held her for a moment. "Thank you, Charlie, but Dean is right. I put you in danger for what I thought was the greater good. As soon as we both know you are safe, I'll get Rowena on the getting the spell translated and the ingredients together." They started walking down the hallway. "Winchester men don't like to be wrong, ever, but I'm going to prove Dean wrong." He looked at her as they reached the garage door. "We're going to save him and you were a big part in that." She smiled as they opened the door.
