"Come on Luz go faster!" King begged clutching her side as they flew on Stringbean to the town. Ever since this morning he'd latched on and refused to let go. It had been cute at first as she had missed his adorable little hugs. After nearly three hours though she was starting to lose some feeling in her arm.
He's just like a koala!
"King I'm new to flying with my own palisiman, besides the town isn't going anywhere." Just above them were Eda and her mother, who still looked terrified as she gripped Eda's sides as they flew. Seeing her gaze Eda flew beside her while grinning with pride.
"To think last time I saw you, you were kissing your egg and hoping it would hatch. Now you're flying around like you own the skies."
"Well, I got a lot of practice on Owlbert. He was carved by the greatest owl mom I have." Eda tried to remain calm but still let out a whimper before shooting ahead her mom giving her a thumbs up.
They landed in the already packed town and with just one Step Luz felt anxious.
Alright Luz you can do this, so what if you're half titan now? It's not like they'd freak out just because you and King are technically living gods. Wait, do they know about King? Most people were probably in hiding or puppets so probably not...
"Mija?"The look her mother was giving her was only making Luz more nervous.
"Oh, sorry mom just looking forward to getting some new clothes. Yeah! Oh, and maybe finally trying those flaming eyes that were always on sale."
Camila grimaced at hearing this. Namely because she knew Luz was forcing herself, but also at eating eyeballs. "I'm not going to get used to the weird food here am I?"
Eda simply laughed and took her hand. "Cammy trust me when I saw you haven't seen weird yet. When it starts talking and asking for a mercy kill then you've had weird." Camila groaned as Eda led her through the city that one day prior had been sparse and full of sparkles. Luz had missed the hustle and bustle of the city, the murmurs of people, the random hands reaching out to grab things. She even missed the man-eating mailbox that always lunged at her.
"Chompy so good to see you!" It gave a few excited growls as it sniffed and then tried to bite her arm as it recognized her scent. Luz pulled back like she always did. "Oh Chompy, I missed you to."
"Luuzzzz I missed you more!" King squealed hugging her tighter before giving Chompy a death glare.
"I know King." After leaving Chompy they headed to the nearest clothing store that was open. She'd just barely set foot in the store when she heard an all-to-familiar scream.
"Ten snails for these rags! I'm the former queen of Hexside and I demand a discount!"
Before Luz could stop it she let out a animalistic growl that not only surprised her but got Boscha's attention.
Boscha took one look at her and all three of her eyes went wide as she walked over to her. "Have we met before? Because if not I'm Boscha and single." she extended her hand which Luz slapped away. "Oh, feisty, are we? I like that in a partner." Luz had to strongly resist the urge to see if she could still scream and destroy something.
"Boscha! For the love of- It's me Luz!" Boscha did a double take fully looking Luz over. "What?! No... no... you?..." She kept eyeing Luz, looking up and down before smiling. "Well Luz I take back nearly everything I've ever said, about your appearance anyway. So, about that date? I'm thinking you, me and Amity tonight."
Thankfully King detached from her shoulder and onto Boscha and softly but powerfully shouted her back. "Don't you ogle my sister!"
"What? Sister!? But aren't you a baby titan or something? I mean your lordship." People were starting to notice them, and Luz was starting to freakout. She had only too many bad experiences like this, first the eyes and murmurs, then came the pointed fingers and laughter.
"King that's enough." she whispered not wanting to get into this. Thankfully he saw her expression and instead of going into tyrant mode, simply said. "Apologize and leave."
What customers that were there turned to Boscha eyeing her silently demanding her to obey. She growled and grabbed her items and rushed by but still whispered. "We're not through Luz."
After that people gave them a pretty wide berth and either excused themselves or were overly polite as they went about their business. Eda stood guard next to the door firmly giving any would be customers a "move on" sign.
Luz had just picked up an outfit when King tugged on her sleeve looking apologetic. "I'm sorry Luz."
She bent down and kissed his head. "I know you were just trying to protect me, and I appreciate that. But all this is a bit much for me so maybe just dial it back a bit."
"Sure!" she happily hugged him before stepping into the booth and removing her clothes once again seeing her new body full of fur.
You really can't see anything can you? Is it weird I don't find this weird? Giving her body another look she wondered if she'd grow anything else. I don't think I could make wings work, but I wouldn't hate a tail.
The outfit she managed to pick out was a simple one. Consisting of a white sleeveless top and long pair of slightly torn pants. She'd skipped the shoes as they were no longer needed. It was the last item that was causing her issues.
"Luz, you don't need a trench coat disguise." and yet she couldn't bring herself to put it back. Though after a minute she put it back down and took off her top wanting to try another on.
"Where is she!?" Luz's would know that voice anywhere. "Amity?" she'd barely gotten the words out when her stall was all but ripped open as Amity embraced her. "Luz what the heck is going on!? Why is Boscha saying we have a date tonight and something about you being..." stopping for a moment she saw Luz's awkward smile but more importantly her new appearance.
"You...your..."
"A bit different?" she asked.
"Beautiful..." she hugged her again fully feeling Luz's warm fur on her body. "I thought only time would make you more beautiful." Hearing these words Luz's body reacted and let out a sound similar to a purr.
"I-er-thank you." she squeaked just as she took notice of their newly acquired audience.
Edric and Emira were staring at them smiling. "Wow mittens never knew you to be such a romantic. And Luz loving the new look, the whole black eyes and horns really tie it together." Emeria teased winking at her. Edric simply gave a thumbs up before being pushed out of the way by Eda and Camila. "Alright you three ease up on my kid."
Amity pulled back enough to look Luz in the eye, of course the moment she did she became so transfixed she lost the ability to properly speak.
"Luz...pretty..."
Camila quickly but gently pulled Amity off her. In that moment she gave a pretty good impression of King even letting out a little "weh!"
"Sorry Amity but Luz isn't fully decent yet." Amity's head snapped from Luz to Camila looking confused. Eda thankfully simplified it for her.
"Luz is technically naked kid."
What happened next was a moment that Luz would never forget. Amity her awesome girlfriend had what was possibly the most anime inspired moment ever. Her face went scarlet as she stared at Luz before her eyes dilated and her nose began bleeding. Edric and Emira were quick to help her out as she fainted into their arms.
"Amity!" she cried attempted to check on her only for her mother to point toward her clothes first. She groaned but did as she was told. When she reemerged, she saw Alador talking with her mom.
"A pleasure to finally meet you Mrs. Noceda, Or is it Mrs. Clawthorne?" Eda gave a sign that Camila slapped down. "Camila is fine and a pleasure to meet you Alador, Amity told me so much about you during her time with me."
"Thank you again for that. Even while trapped I kept hoping she was safe." as she got closer, he smiled at her "And Luz... can all humans transform like this? If so that's amazing."
"It's a new thing actually."
"Oh, well it's still intriguing." he snapped his fingers and a abomination servant scooped her up. "A pleasure to meet you Camila, and Luz you're welcome at our home anytime." Amity gave a sleepy "goddess girlfriend" as she was carried out.
They'd quickly finished up there as people were starting to talk. Luz's only plans for the rest of the day were simple. Find her friends tell them what happened during the final battle, maybe not the whole dying thing but most of it.
"Gus is probably going to freak out, Willow might just simply laugh." she said to herself as they walked through town. That was her plan, but like most things the isles had other ideas.
"Hey Luz!" Looking up she saw the Collector riding one of his stars with Lilith next to him. When they were close enough, she jumped off and all but tackled Luz in a hug. "Luz my adorable niece!" King tried to escape but he wound up in the hug as well. "And King! My special little titan why didn't you tell me about this?!" The collector joined the hug looking left out. "Yeah, King we're friends after all. It's not fair you made another titan without me!"
Luz and King could barely breathe. A crowed of people had quickly formed looking at them the words "living titan" being muttered.
"Alright everyone nothing to see here!" Eda screamed transforming into her harpy form and flashing her talons. Most of them quickly left but a few took one last look at Luz before leaving. With them gone Eda pulled Lilith free from Luz's second impromptu emotional embrace.
"Lilly you have three seconds to drop my kids before I see if your head can pop off."
Lilith did let go and quickly apologized. "I'm terribly sorry Luz but after hearing the news I wanted to see if it was true or not."
"Wait, What news?" Lilith made a bit of a face and pulled out her scroll showing the video of Luz walking through town with the headline "Titanic Resurrection"
"What!?" she screamed looking at the messages quickly popping up. Camila grabbed the phone growing angrier as more and more came. "Who posted this!? When I find them I'll-" she switched to angry Spanish with only Luz hearing the words "murder" and "shallow grave" While this was happening Luz knelt next to the Collector hoping he might have some knowledge. After all he was around when they were still alive.
"So, Collector you know more about titans than anyone."
"Yeah, I know lots. They start as eggs and spend a few good centuries incubating before they hatch. After that they look like king until they get older. Oh man I can't wait to fly with you King! You're gonna look so cool when your wings come in!"
"Really!? I'm going to get wings!?"
"Of course, silly." He hugged King before floating around Luz, making her nervous. She gently pulled him down. "Okay so as you can see King accidentally transformed me into... this... so, being an expert is it temporary or is this the new Luz?" He gave her curious for a long time. "Not sure, let me try something." He attempted to turn her into a puppet for a moment but as his magic encased her Luz's body reacted on instinct and her finger scrawled a strange looking glyph that cancelled his magic. This only made the Collector ecstatic.
"Wow you can already create your own magic? Usually, it takes a thousand years! At this rate your wings and tail will sprout in no time!" All Luz could do was stare as the glyph in front of her died out.
