She bounces to her feet and meets him in the kitchen, her arms reach up to circle his shoulders as her head rests against his left shoulder; he looks down and she's giving him 'the look', as Sakura calls it. Sasuke has been wrapped around Sarada's finger since she was born, buying her a stuffed animal when she was younger as they followed Sakura around the store aimlessly, or when he'd slip her a snack before dinner despite Sakura saying, 'No sweetie dinner's almost ready' and of course he wanted his daughter to have the best birthday parties ever so whatever Sarada wanted, Sarada got.
Some may say Sarada is a spoiled child, being an only child and all and they'd be right. But Sakura knows deep down Sasuke is trying his best to give her the childhood he never had, but often dreamt about. So, despite her quiet protests against the stuffed animals that once covered her bed and the snacks before dinner, she just shook her head at her husband and his 'little peanut'.
"Ok, what is it this time?" he asks, sighing as he imagines their bank account shrinking horrendously—it wouldn't be the first time Sakura got a surprise at the beginning of the month as she reconciled their finances.
"Ok so you know how Chocho and Sumire and I love that band?" Her eyes swell with anticipation, he nods for her to continue, "Well they're going on tour and they're coming here! To Konoha! We need to get tickets dad! This is a once in a lifetime opportunity for me to make my husband fall in love with me!" she exclaims, clasping her hands together by her face; dreaming up every scenario in her head where the lead singer falls in love with her; she will be y/n.
He shakes his head, a small smile on his face. "I won't let that happen."
"What?! Seriously dad?! I just told Chocho and Sumire I'd get us tickets! They said they'd pay me back we need GA for barricade!"
"Calm down Sarada. You can get the tickets, but there won't be any 'falling in love'." He turns the knob on the stove to low and sits at the table, picking up the newspaper to read about the happenings in Konoha.
"So I can get tickets?!" He nods and his body is forced back as her small frame slams into his, engulfing him in a side hug as he chuckles, wrapping his right arm around her.
When Sasuke agreed to let Sarada get tickets for the concert, he thought he made it clear the tickets were for them, her, Chocho and Sumire, he had no intention of attending it with them but later that night when Sakura got off from her shift at the hospital and he told her he OK'd Sarada buying these tickets he knew his wife agreed all too fast. He thought he saw something peeking through her irises, he should have believed his gut. So here he stands, dressed in light-wash denim bell bottoms, a light white shirt and a blue suit jacket with gems glued all over it randomly; it looks like stars fell from the sky and plopped right on him. The baby blue boa falls around his neck, a matching light blue cowboy hat sits on the top of his head, feathers glued around the brim of the hat and rhinestones lay scattered across the bump of the hat; the things he does for his daughter.
Sarada, Chocho and Sumire had planned their outfits weeks in advance and Sarada, being the loving daughter she is, didn't want her father to feel left out so she started scheming with her mom and secretly bought bits and bobs here and there; working on his hat while he was away running errands. Sakura thought it was cute that their daughter was not embarrassed being seen with her father still, so she happily agreed, plus she can get a great picture to send out in the Christmas cards this year—payback for the failed picture they sent out 6 years ago.
"Smile!" Sakura says, holding her phone in front of her pressing the button on the screen taking as many pictures as possible as three of the four figures in front of her pose. Sarada dramatically holds her pink boa out, Chocho whimsically taking her orange cowgirl hat off and closing her eyes while Sumire showcases her bedazzled jean pockets by pointing her foot out. Sasuke stands in the back, still as can be as the girls laugh and fantasize about the concert.
"Lighten up dear. It's your first concert." Sakura teases pushing a long stand of hair behind her ear. He shoots her a 'Please don't make me actually go dressed like this' look and she instantly widens her eyes, silently telling her husband he was the one who got himself into this mess; he sighs knowing she's right. But it's so hard to say no to their daughter. He relaxes his shoulders and closes his eyes, finally admitting defeat. Sakura's right, he should enjoy the night this could be the last time Sarada ever wants to be seen with him in public, that seems to be how teenagers are now.
He raises his arm up in the air, giving the camera a thumbs up. Sakura continues to take pictures and the girls change their poses; Sasuke attempting to follow their lead. 'Pull the boa a little bit maybe?' he thinks, 'maybe I should tip the hat a little bit?' The girls finally ask for solo pictures and he steps next to Sakura. He lets out a breath and Sakura laughs as she turns to him, putting her hand on his shoulder.
"You did good dear. Taking one for the team." She gives him a toothy grin, playing with the boa around his neck. "I like the boa and sparkly hat. Really suits you." He rolls his eyes and wraps his arm around her waist as she turns back to take pictures for the girls.
They finally set off for the concert and to Sasuke's surprise, he doesn't stick out one bit. As they walk across the floor of the arena the four get stopped by a girl asking if she can take a picture of them because she loves their outfits; they agree and Sasuke chuckles to himself, 'Sakura won't believe this.' As the girls leave to get closer to the barricade Sarada hugs Sasuke, thanking him for dressing up with them. He squeezes her extra hard, telling her to be safe and he'll be behind them in case any singer or bass player tries to marry any of them. She laughs as she pushes away from him, pink spreading across her face. She waves and he watches her weave through the mass of people; his little peanut isn't so little anymore.
As the concert starts Sasuke finds his way to the girls, he stands near them and watches the lead singer gracefully prance around the stage, a hot pink boa wrapped around his neck. "Are there any dads here tonight? Where's the dads?" The cameras throughout the arena land on dads, putting them on the two jumbo screens on either side of the stage. Sasuke watches the different dads pop up on the screen, chuckling at some of them who are caught off guard and others who are dancing with what looks to be their daughters. The lead singer makes comments as the dads appear on the screens, earning screams from the crowd. He waves as he walks up and down the stage, alternating his focus between the sea of people in front of him and the screens with dads.
Suddenly Sasuke sees himself on the screen, cowboy hat, boa, and all. He panics, getting flustered at all the sudden attention. "Oiii! You're a dad?" the guy on the stage compliments, coming over to stand in front of the girls; Sumire screams and Chocho nearly faints, fanning herself as he sends them a wave. He waves back, causing the girls to yelp. Sasuke nods and points to the girls; Sarada waving to the man on stage. "Gotta lot of good-looking dads in Konoha. I'll have to remember it." The guy tosses his towel to Sasuke, sending him a playful wink before he struts off to talk to the crowd some more.
As Sasuke and Sarada walk through the doorway of their house, Sakura is slumped over at the dinner table, her head resting peacefully on her crossed arms. Sarada hugs Sasuke goodnight, white towel in hand and skips off to her room. Sasuke gently nudges Sakura's snoozing form, her eyes flutter open. "How was the concert?"
"Good. But I think you may have some competition." She stretches her arms above her head, getting up from the table shooting him a confused look. "Apparently I'm a hot dad."
She laughs, "That you are."
a/n: here's a cute lil snippet of sasuke being the absolute *best* girl dad ever ! i may or may not have based the lead singer on someone whose name rhymes with Barry Myles hehe. lemme know what you think of this and if you'd like more like this!
