Kanemaru runs his hands through his short hair as he lets out a long and exasperated sigh. He should have known what he was getting into before he told Sawamura he could tutor him in math.

"Sawamura," he repeats his boyfriend's name for the nth time that night, he had long since lost track of how many times he's said it.

"What is it?" the boy in question says, turning to face the blond. He then holds up the book he had been telling Kanemaru about. "Don't you want to hear about the new volume of…"

Kanemaru lets out another long sigh, and pushes the math textbook back at Sawamura. "I thought you wanted me here to help you with math," he says.

Sawamura pauses and blinks. "Oh, yeah," he smiles, nodding. "We did need to study that, didn't we?"

"Yes, we do," Kanemaru grumbles out. "You do remember we have a test in two days, right?" he asks.

Sawamura startles at that. "Wait, what? It's that soon?" he asks. "The last time our teacher talked about it they said it was next week."

"He said that last week," Kanemaru says.

Sawamura's eyes grow large as he makes the connection. "Oh no," he yells out. "This isn't good, I have to learn sooo much stuff if I want to get a good grade!"

"Right," Kanemaru nods, and again pushes the textbook across the floor towards Sawamura. "Now, let's start then."

They made progress for about five minutes, before Sawamura's stomach grumbles in hunger.

"Let's go get a snack!" he then yells out.

Kanemaru drops the pencil he was holding. "What?" he asks.

"A snack, Kanemaru, a snack," he says. "We've been studying for a while now, so we should take a break and get a snack."

"Studying for a-?" Kanemaru looks over the paper he was writing on. "We've only reviewed one problem so far."

"And it took us a long time to get that one problem done," Sawamura retorts.

"We would've done more if you didn't get so distracted," Kanemaru grumbles out again.

"Yeah, yeah," Sawamura says as he stands up from where they were sitting on the ground. "Give me five minutes to go to the snack machine. Once we have some snacks to eat we'll both be able to focus much better!"

Kanemaru sighs and leans back as Sawamura runs out of his dormroom to the vending machine. This tutoring session wasn't going to plan at all, but then again… none of the tutoring sessions he plans for the pitcher go to plan.

It was a miracle Sawamura still had the grades required to be a starter on the team. A miracle only brought on by the long hours he needed to tutor the boy before each and every test they had.

Most of the time it wasn't actually that bad… except for when it came to math. Not only did the boy seem to just not understand the subject, he used every sort of distraction possible to not study.

Kanemaru lets out another breath and nods to himself, he has his work cut out for him tonight, it seems.

Ten minutes later, an additional five minutes to the five Sawamura said he would be gone, the pitcher barges back into his room, arms full of snacks.

"I'm back," he yells out. "And I've brought Furuya with me!" he says as he pulls the other pitcher into the room behind him.

"Furuya?" Kanemaru questions.

"Yeah," Sawamura nods as he sits down and passes Kanemaru a bag of chips. "He says his test is tomorrow, so he needs to study as well!"

Kanemaru shakes his head, now resigned to needing to tutor two practically hopeless pitchers. "Fine, both of you just sit down so we can get back to where we are."

They surprisingly make a lot of progress over the next half hour, getting through another four practice problems. Kanemaru doesn't know if it is because Furuya joined them or what, but he wasn't going to question it - at least not right now.

No, he is just going to keep the small group focused and bring them through the next problem.

Or he was… until Sawamura's roommate comes into the room for the night.

"What are you three doing here?" Kuramochi asks as he walks over and drops his body onto his desk chair.

"Studying," Sawamura waves the older boy off. "Test tomorrow."

"You're actually studying?" Kuramochi asks, not believing what he is looking at.

'Yes,' Kanemaru wishes he could say. 'Now could you please leave us alone while I finally have their attention.'

Of course he wouldn't say that. If only because he knows it will only lead to an argument between him and the second year, and he knows Sawamura hates it when he gets into arguments with his roommate.

Kanemaru despairs as he falls back on the floor. Now that Kuramochi is here, his plan is doomed. There is no way he would be able to get Sawamura to study now.

He can only pray that the boy gets the minimum score to pass.
