CHAPTER 3
Risen in battle
Episode 2 part 1
The light receded and all five of them dropped on the floor of Lee Temple with grunts. Xuan chuckled and walked off, the teleportation not affecting him as it had the others due to the fact that he was already used to it. "A little bit of warning next time?" Marcus Aurelius spoke as he lifted himself off the ground to look around him. They looked to be in a sort of common area and had landed in the middle of a cluster of chairs arranged in such a way that it formed something akin to the round table. A huge chandelier hung up on the ceiling and shone down on all five of them. The other four began to come around. "Ow, remind me never to teleport again." Olivia said rubbing her head as she sat up and then stood up on her two feet. Sid stood up and regarded the bracelet on his wrist with a raised eyebrow and muttered to himself, "Well, this should be fun." Ashley and Oliver were the last to rise from their dazed state on the ground. Ashley looked around, her excitement still very visible on her face. Marcus asked, somewhat dryly, "I take it, you are a fan of power rangers?" Ashley smirked as she commented, "A fan is an understatement. I can die for them and now I get to actually be one?" Marcus shrugged, "That remains to be seen."
The door opened and all five turned towards the door. Xuan entered with three other people. The four of them moved forward and Danbury, the lady among them spoke, "Please, do have your seat." The five teens looked at each other and sat down on various sofas making sure to keep an eye on all four. Smith stepped forward, "Welcome to Lee Temple, a Guild dedicated to stopping extra terrestrial threat from invading our world. I am Smith, this is Danbury and by the door is Lee, the guardian of the Energems." Sid turned to look at Lee and asked, "So I take it this place is named after you." Lee shook his head and walked towards them as he spoke, "It was named after my ancestors. I was just lucky to be born into the family of the guardians of the Energems. And it is connected with what you will be hearing very soon. And then, the final decision will lie with all five of you. Smith."
As Smith heard his name, he frowned slightly and sat down on a lounge chair that overlooked the chairs that all five teens were seated on. The atmosphere in the room became quite somber as Smith began, "A long time ago, a dark overlord by the name of Lord Magnus rose up. He left death, destruction and carnage in his wake. He then raised up an army such that will rule the whole world with him as that was his goal. The first guardian of the Energems, Lee Young saw to it that Magnus' attempts would be futile. Gathering a team, they tapped a power source known as the Morphing Grid and became the first power rangers. They fought back the darkness of Lord Magnus quite successfully and they thought they'd won but in a brutal twist of fate, Lord Magnus decided to have one last go at his conquest desires. Lee Young and his team were there to stop him. But the battle did not go as expected. The remaining eight warriors fell and then four Energems were lost in battle. Knowing he could not defeat Lord Magnus alone, he used his powers to seal him away so as to give the next line of defense time to prepare for that war. But he lost his abilities and out of his damaged Morpher, new Morphers were created waiting for their avatars. And you are the newest team of Power Rangers."
Silence reigned supreme in the room for about a minute after Smith's words. Oliver then spoke up, "So in essence, then, you are asking us to finish a fight that was sprung up centuries ago? A battle we know nothing about?" Danbury nodded, "In a manner of speaking." She then turned to look at the other three, "Told you they'd be reluctant." Sid then spoke up, "Hold on, no one is being reluctant here. What happened out there tonight told us that what we are going to battle is serious. We just want to know what we are getting into. I think I speak for all of us when I say that." Xuan, Smith and Lee all moved forward to stand alongside Danbury. Lee then spoke, "I will not lie to you. What you will face to protect humanity will want to break you but if you stand as a team, then I can see you victorious. And I also want you to know that death in this task is a certain but avoidable fate and it is the only way that Energem can become unbounded to you. So the choice is yours."
There was minutes of silence before Ashley finally spoke up, "I might be a die hard fans of Power Rangers but this sounds serious. If I can help in my own little way, I'd love to." Olivia sighed and responded, "Well, why not? The freaking planet needs a freaking hero." Oliver then said, "Someone's got to watch the back of these lots." Marcus and Sid looked at each other before Marcus spoke, "This better not cut into my studies." Sid rolled his eyes and stood up. He looked at all of them in the room before he said, "I thought you said there were nine Energems. How come we are only five?" Xuan replied, "We are working as hard as we can to locate the locate the remaining four." Sid nodded and sat down again. Smith then smiled, "And since the team is complete, I think your training should begin tomorrow after class."

General Belasko walked down the length of the throne room headed towards Commander Reus who was seated placing a booted leg on the other with arms placed on the armrest of the throne. Beside him walked a Herald that looked like an ogre. The Ogre carried a club resting on his shoulder and wore an outdated metal jerkins as armour. General Belasko and the Ogre bowed as they reached the throne. Commander Reus frowned and looked at the Ogre before looking at the General. He asked, "What do you have for me, general?" General Belasko grinned, "Commander, I present to you Herald Ogriel. He will crush the power rangers just as you desire." Commander Reus smirked and directed a curt glance at Herald Ogriel before saying, "And if he doesn't, it will be your hide that will be crushed, General."

By noon of the next day, all of the five rangers had gathered together in the training room of the Lee Temple. The entire room was made of steel. In the middle of the room was what looked like a boxing ring. The rangers were currently paired together whilst Sid, the red ranger was paired against Smith for training.
Olivia took a fight stance and curved her hand signaling for Ashley to attack. Ashley cracked her neck and muttered, "This should be fun." As she was about to move for an attack, an alarm sounded throughout the entire temple. Sid who had just been floored by Smith groaned, "What is going on? Someone shut off that damn sound." Smith grabbed his hand bringing him up. He then removed a remote from his pocket and pressed down two buttons simultaneously.
The alarm stopped and a television hung in the air began to roll down. Smith then spoke, "We set up a city wide sensors to detect an attack so that it can be stopped. That was the sound you heard." Oliver asked, "What seems to be going on?" Smith replied as the television stopped in mid air and turned on, "We are about to find out." The television finished loading up and showed a map on which a spot was blinking red continuously. Then, the screen divided into two with the map on one hand and Lee's face coming into view on the other side. Lee said, "Smith, I expect the rangers to be on their way by now." Smith was about to respond when Marcus said, "We are going right now. Anything we should know about?" Lee smirked on the screen and replied, "Just trust in what you are and in your teammates. Now go." The five rangers rushed out of the training room. Smith glared with disapproval at Lee, "Why didn't you tell them?" Lee spoke, "It's better to let them find out on their own, Smith. It is better that way, for them and for us." Lee then cut off the connection.

The Herald named Ogriel walked in the streets smashing his heavy club into everything. He laughed menacingly as cars skidded to a stop and it's occupants ran from his club. "That's far enough, Fugly." A voice called out as five teens ran to bare his path from further destruction. Ogriel raised an eyebrow and Marcus muttered, "Is it my imagination or do these things keep getting uglier? I mean, an ogre in armour. Seriously." Sid spoke, "Keep your focus, Marcus." He then stepped forward, "We will give you only one chance whatever you are. After that, prepare to meet the justice of our steel." Ogriel chuckled, "Mere humans dare to threaten me? Prepare to die." He raised his hand and fiery projectiles launched at the rangers.
In unity, they spoke, "Galactic Energy, Arise." A light covered them and made the projectiles to deflect and blow to each side of them. As the light receded, the five teens stepped forward now in their full armor.
"Fierce as a dragon, with the element of fire, Red Galactic Ranger."
"Sharp as the shark, with the element of water, Blue Galactic Ranger."
"Loyal as a wolf, with the element of earth, Black Galactic Ranger."
"Fast as a cheetah, with the element of lightning, Yellow Galactic Ranger."
"Strong as an eagle, with the element of air, Pink Galactic Ranger."
As they finished their roll call, an explosion sounded behind them and they spoke again as one, "Hope of the future and Defense of Mankind, Galactic Defenders." Ogriel swung his club, "Rangers or not, I will crush you." He began running towards them.
Through the intercom, Danbury said, "Okay, Rangers. Time to test your skills against this guy. You all have a standard short sword which your blaster can turn into. You also have your own personal weapon which can be summoned through your belt. Good luck, Rangers. May the power be with you." Sid turned to his teammates, "You heard the lady. Let's take this ogre to kingdom come." Ogriel descended swinging his club at all five. The five rangers jumped back just in time. Oliver having summoned his mallet swung it aiming for Ogriel's exposed neck but Ogriel blocked the blow with his meaty wrist and punched the Black Ranger backward. As Sid and Ashley rushed in for a combined blow with their katana and double daggers respectively, Ogriel raised his club and deflected both attacks. He then immediately sidestepped Olivia's Trident causing her to accidentally strike the Red and Pink Rangers who were flung back by the force of the blow. Ogriel scoffed, "Pathetic." He turned his head around just in time to escape a crushing arrow aimed at him sizzling with energy. Marcus having seen that Ogriel was distracted by all four rangers, he sped up his time and with that inhumane speed, he spin kicked Ogriel sending him reeling to the side. Ogriel groaned in pain and stood up. His eyes widened as Sid came jumping down with his sword aimed for the kill.
However, Sid's sword met empty ground as Ogriel had stood. Swinging the club, he smashed it against Sid sending him flying with sparks emerging from his armor. Sid screamed in pain as he demorphed upon landing on the ground. Ogriel tilted his head, chuckled and swinging his club, he blocked Olivia's Trident slash. Using her own momentum, he sent her reeling and flung her. As she landed on the side, Ogriel scowled as Oliver smashed his mallet against his torso. Unmoved by the assault, Ogriel raised his eyebrow as Oliver said, "No one touches my sister." Ogriel frowned and chuckled darkly as he grabbed the mallet, flung it to the side, grabbed Oliver and smashed his club against his torso making him yell in pain as he demorphed and was flung to the side like a rag doll. Ogriel then immediately turned to face Marcus and Ashley who had stood in shock having seen Ogriel best their team without breaking a sweat. He launched projectiles at the both of them and as they cartwheeled to the side, the projectiles exploded catching them both in the after math. The five rangers now laid weakened on the ground in various degrees of pain. Ogriel walked deliberately towards them and asked, "Any last words." "Yeah, just one." Ogriel turned at the surprise words and barely had time to react before a sword slashed him in the middle causing him to fly back in pain as his armor began sparking. He then stood up and looked at the new figure on the battlefield. He had the same armor as the other rangers but his was crimson. Ogriel stood up and snarled, "You haven't yet seen the end of me, rangers." A red sigil appeared under him swallowing him up. The Crimson Ranger looked at the rangers, his gaze particularly long on the yellow Ranger before walking off. None of the Rangers appear to be conscious and so none of them saw the last minute miracle that had saved their hides. He chuckled and jumped high up upon a huge building using the light of the sun as a shield.
A/N:
Whew, that was intense. Way to go, mysterious ranger. Way to go. This is foreshadowing actually as the Crimson Ranger will soon be introduced. Thanks to SonOfWhitebeard for his review. It really means a lot. Okay, rate and review. It really really really means a lot to me.
