"So, you guys excited for your first outing into the digital world?" Davis asked the two newer digidestined. "Of course, going to another hidden world, fighting evil alongside a powerful monster. It's like a fantasy come true" Yolei rambled clearly excited. "While it's great that you're excited Yolei, you have to remember that the digital world isn't some fantasy land and that your digimon partner is your friend and partner, not some fancy pet" Tai explained. Davis and Cody nodded in agreement as they grew up with Digimon around the house, not that Tai or Yolei knew that fact. "Oh, by the way, here Yolei, while we don't know what digimon you'll be partnered with, I figured these might come in handy" Davis said pulling a few digimon trading cards from his bag and handing them to Yolei who looked confused. "Hey, aren't those modify cards? Davis are you sure giving some to her immediately without training is a good idea?" Cody asked. "Modify cards?" Yolei said confused. "I'm actually curious about them too if you don't mind explaining how they work" Tai said. "Oh well in the card game these cards can be used to boost your Digimon's power or stats, even allowing them to use another Digimon's attack. These one's are just standard modify cards, Boost Chip, Speed Plug-in, Defense Plug-in, and I threw in a few digimon move cards too" Davis explained. "Now what's going on in here" A voice said. The four digidestined turned to see a teacher standing at the entrance of the computer room. "Uuuuh... After school card game club?" Davis lied holding up his deck of cards. "Ah I see. And Tai what brings you here, I didn't take you for someone who played card games" The teacher said. "Oh well, you know Kari came home last night talking about it, so I wanted to see what all the rage was about" Tai lied as he approached the teacher "Speaking of which, I got a personal question to ask you if you don't mind lending an ear for a few minutes". The three digidestined watched as Tai lead the teacher out and away from the computer room by pretending to need dating advice. "There goes the bravest man I know" Davis commented. "He's my hero, sacrificing himself for the greater good" Cody added as all three new digidestined saluted the door. That was till it opened revealing Kari, TK, Izzy and someone else that the new digidestined didn't know. "Where did Tai go?" Kari asked. "Oh, Tai sacrificed himself to distract a teacher from sticking around by asking for dating advice" Davis joked. "That poor boy" The stranger said. "Anyways, Davis, Cody, Yolei. I'd like to introduce you to Sora. She's one of the original eight digidestined and will be joining us today" Izzy introduced. "It's nice to meet you" Cody said. "Glad you could come to help out" Davis said. "It's nice to meet you" Yolei greeted. "Nice to meet you all too. Even if I can't digivolve my partner, I'll try to help in any way I can" Sora said. "Well, if Tai's not coming then it looks like everyone is here" TK said. "Alright then! No more talk! We're all here so let's go!" Yolei said impatiently "Digiport Open!".
"So those digidestined brats have returned huh? Well let's just give them a proper welcome gift this time" The digimon emperor said "Something to stop them from coming forever. Maybe by taking out their leader? What do you think, Wormmon? Should we give their newly awarded leader a congratulations gift, along with a message to the others what happens when they cross me" The emperor asked as said digimon flinched not wanting to say yes as the idea the emperor was thinking of was far too cruel. "It was a rhetorical question anyways. Hmmm now which digimon to retrieve the guest of honor. Eenie meenie miny, you!" The emperor said pressing a button on the tablet in front of him. Wormmon whimpered lightly at the idea of something terrible happening to the poor child as the loud roar of the selected digimon roared through the monitors.
"Davish! You came back!" Veemon said. "You bet bud" Davis said. "Izzy my how you've grown" Tentomon said. "Tentomon" Izzy said. "You look so big now Sora" Biyomon said. "Biyomon" Sora said. "Now that we've all reunited. Let's find Cody and Yolei's Digi-eggs" Davis said. "Well, if it's like how we found Veemon, then Cody and Yolei's digivices should lead us right to them" TK said. "That's right! Davis was able to find a digimon partner tracker on his digivice. Yolei and Cody should have the same function on theirs" Kari said. Cody nodded as he started to fiddle with his digivice a bit till it lit up with an arrow pointed in the direction to the right of him. Yolei's also happened to be pointing in the same direction. As the digidestined started to head to the Digi-eggs until the ground under Davis started to crumble. "Watch Out!" Davis called out to the others. The ground beneath him and Veemon broke open, causing the two to fall into the newly created pit. That is till Davis quickly grabbed a ledge and Veemon, barely being able to hold on. "Davis!" The digidestined cried. As they moved to help him, they were stopped. "Find Cody and Yolei's partners!" Davis shouted, knowing that he couldn't hold on for much longer. "We'll be fine!" Veemon yelled back. Suddenly the ledge broke as Davis and Veemon resumed their plummet into the darkness. Cody stood there in shock, shaking in anger at himself for being useless. "We have to go" Izzy said. "We can't leave him" Yolei said. "We have no choice" Sora said. "But he needs help" TK replied. "Davis will be fine" Cody willed himself to say while still shaking in fear and gritting his teeth and clenching his fists. "Cody" Kari said softly noticing his distress, walking over to comfort him. "Davis has a digimon partner, a digivice and modify cards. He'll be fine. He gave us an order so let's follow it to find him later" Cody said with his voice wavering like he was trying to convince himself. "He's right. We have to find those Digi-eggs along with Cody and Yolei's partners" Gatomon said. "We can't do anything now unless we do" Patamon said.
Davis woke up a few moments later, to see that he was hanging off the side of a cliff. "What happened" Davis groaned. "Hiya Davish, how's it hanging?" Veemon asked. Davis looked across to see Veemon hanging on the cliff across from him. "Rise and Shine. Your Digi-done for" The digimon emperor said. "You must be the Digimon Emperor. Say can I call you something else, Digimon Emperor is kind of a mouthful?" Davis asked, clearly having inherited his mother's wit. "Smart Aleck huh? That's fine. You'd be wasting your breath saying the full title. You may refer to me as Kaiser" The digimon emperor said. "Alright then Kaiser. Let me ask you one thing" Davis said. "Very well then, I suppose I can humour you seeing as how you are completely powerless" Kaiser replied. "Great, so I won't bore you then. How are you controlling the Digimon" Davis asked seriously. "Oh? Isn't it obvious? The Dark rings of course, granted they are only effective from Champion level to lower, but I do have a few Ultimate level Digimon. Such a simple question thought, I'm disappointed at being asked such a simple question though" Kaiser answered. "That's not what I asked. I asked how you control the Digimon, not how you enslave them." Davis reaffirmed his question. If Davis could see through Kaiser's shades, he would have seen the glint of sadism and glee in the corrupt emperor's eyes. "Oh, Oh! I see, taking a close observation in your opponent's abilities. Very well then Digidestined, I will answer you're question seeing as how you've piqued my interest" Kaiser responded, before going onto a long dialogue about how the dark rings operated for the most part, without giving out too many important details. 'Hurry up guys' Davis thought.
"Woah look at those" TK said pointing at the Digi-eggs. "You think our digimon are under those" Yolei asked. "I'd hope so" Cody replied. Cody and Yolei walked up to the Digi-eggs. Steadying their nerves, they both pulled out the eggs with ease. Suddenly a red and yellow light appeared from each hole where the Digi-eggs were and two digimon appeared. "Greeting and Salutations Ms. Yolei. My name is Hawkmon your partner digimon" one said. "Did ya have to wake me up now. Well, Howdy Cody. The name's Armadillomon. Your very own digimon. Nice to meet you partner" The other said. "Whoa" Yolei said. "Nice to meet you too partner. I hope you and I can work together as a team well" Cody said. "Well, you're the boss" Armadillomon said. "So, what now" Sora said. "We save Davis and Veemon" Kari said. TK nodded.
"And that is how my dark rings work" Kaiser said. "Cool" Davis said. "Neato" Veemon said. "And now for a live demonstration" Kaiser said snapping his fingers and a dark ring appeared in front of Veemon. "Oh No. Veemon Armor Digivolve" Davis said in a panic. "Not without these" Kaiser said holding Davis's D-3 and D-terminal. "No…" Davis said. "I know there are jokes about giving your body to science, but this is ridiculous" Veemon said jokingly as the device slowly approached. "Stop Don't" Davis said. "Too late" Kaiser said. "Eagle Eye" A voice cried, and two lasers destroyed the dark ring. "No!" Kaiser said. "Oh, thank the sovereigns" Davis muttered under his breath. Halsemon freed Davis and caught him. "Surprise! I got a Veemon" Digmon said appeared from the cliff behind Veemon and took him. "This cannot get any worse" Kaiser said. Gatomon leaped up and landed in front of Ken. "It sure can. Hand over the digivice and d-terminal" Gatomon said. "I'll protect you master" Wormmon said. "Lightning Claw" Gatomon cried slashing at Wormmon and causing the silk worm digimon to crash into Kaiser who dropped the devices in his hand on impact. "You fool" Kaiser yelled. Davis caught the two devices. "Thanks for the drop off. Now Veemon. Digi-Armor Energize!" Davis cried. "Veemon Digi-Armor Energize To! Flamedramon The Flame of Courage!" Flamedramon cried. "No matter! Snimon! Drimogemon! Mojyamon! Destroy the Digi-Pests!" Kaiser commanded the controlled Digimon. "Cody, Yolei, let's show The Digimon Emperor the power we're packing!" Davis called out as he pulled out a Digi-Modify Card. Cody and Yolei nodded as they each pulled out their own modify cards. "Digi-Modify! Aliast!" Davis cried. Suddenly Mojyamon was surrounded by multiple copies of Flamedramon, surrounding the controlled Digimon. As it swung Flamedramon, he and his clones kept moving, till they got clone enough to the dark ring. "Fire Knuckle!" Flamedramon cried as he and his copies all fired at the dark ring shattering it completely. The Drimogemon quickly tunneled itself into the ground. "We better catch up to it before it can cause trouble" Digmon commented. "Right. Digi-Modify! Speed Plug-In!" Cody exclaimed. Suddenly Digmon glowed a faint white as he drilled into the ground at breakneck speeds, quickly catching up to Drimogemon. "Gold Rush!" Digmon cried as it fired his drills destroying the dark ring on Drimogemon. "We got the last one. Digi-Modify Boost Chip!" Yolei cried. "Tempest Twist" Halsemon cried destroying Snimon's dark ring. "You just may be my biggest challenge yet Digidestined. But no matter, it's only a matter of time before I am able to squash you all like the insects you are" Kaiser said. He turned away and disappeared with Wormmon. "Alright we are awesome!" Yolei said. "Yeah, we are" Davis agreed. "It's exciting" Cody agreed. "Well, it looks like they have this all under control here" Sora said. "That Digi-Modify ability along with Armor Digivolution, I now know the digital world is in good hands with them around." Izzy commented.
Later, just as Tai entered the computer room after successfully distracting the teacher, there was a flash of light and then a dog pile of kids collapsed onto the computer room floor. "I think you guys need to find a way to get out of the digital world that doesn't involve getting tangled up" Tai said jokingly. "Tai if you keep making jokes and don't help us. I will force feed you your mothers beef-shakes" Sora said clearly not in the mood. "You wouldn't dare" Tai gasped backing away into the door. "Try me, I'm sure she'd love to send me the recipe" Sora replied deadly serious. Davis then turned to Kari with a quizzical look. "Beef-shakes?" He asked. "Don't even get me started. Izzy drank two and was in the bathroom for 10 whole minutes" Kari replied. "They tasted great at first but then didn't sit well" Izzy commented with a shudder as he recalled the memory. Soon the dog pile was unscrambled, with some help from Tai, to reveal five Digimon. "Woah who are you guys" Yolei said. "I recognize Tokomon and Salamon but not the other three" TK said. "Salamon why did you revert back to your rookie stage" Kari said. "I don't know, but if I did then that means that the other three Digimon are" Salamon said. "Our partners in their In-Training forms, right?" Cody said. "That's right, I'm Upamon now Cody" Upamon said. "I'm Poromon now" Poromon said. "And I'm DemiVeemon now Davish" DemiVeemon said. "Huh. Well, we better head out, if we stay out too late, our parents might think we got in serious trouble" Davis said as he scooped up DemiVeemon. Cody nodded as he picked up Umpamon. Both cousins left the room with their Digimon partners. "Man, I got to go too. If I stay out any later, my parents might ground me for life" Yolei said grabbing Poromon and running home. "I guess that means we better get to the meeting huh?" Kari said picking up Salamon. The other four Digidestined nodded as they left the computer room. Soon Davis and Cody had arrived at Davis's home. "Wow it's a nice place you have here" Upamon said. Cody nodded. "Thanks. Mom finished decorating last week" Davis said. As the two opened the door, they noticed Jun standing at the entrance as if she was waiting for the two. "Oh Cody, your here too good. Aunt Suzie came over for a visit" Jun said as she then walked to her room. "Why's your mom here?" Davis asked. "Well, I did tell her that I was going to the digital world today, but I never mentioned coming here afterwards. Maybe she just had a feeling" Cody said. "Can your mom see the future!?" Umpamon asked. "No, it's most likely a coincidence" Cody replied. As they entered the house, they noticed their parents in the living room, as if waiting for them to get home. "Mom, Dad, Aunt Suzie meet DemiVeemon my partner" Davis said as he held up DemiVeemon as if the Digimon was a stray cat he just found on the way home. "Hi. Got any food?" DemiVeemon said. Rika groaned as she then covered her face in slight shame. "Why did you have to bring them at the one stage where they are bottomless pits" Rika said. Susie giggled. Henry chuckled at Rika's reaction. "It's not that bad" Henry tried to say, only to stop when he saw the glare coming from his wife. "This is Upamon" Cody said. "Hiya" Upamon greeted. "Hello Umpamon, I hope you look after Cody in the digital world, okay?" Suzie said as she gently rubbed the little Digimon's head. "Yes mam!" Umpamon said and tried to salute her with his ears
At the nearby park, the older digidestined had gathered for a meeting. "I'm glad we could all make it to this meeting today. I know we should have done this yesterday but couldn't due to schedule conflicts" Tai said. Both Matt and Joe looked at bit guilty as Joe needed to study for the test he had earlier today and Matt having band practice. "But that's fine. We now have more information to go off of" Tai reassured the two. "What is so important that you needed to cut off my beauty sleep so early" Mimi whined as she was on video call with them from Izzy's laptop. "The digital world is open again. Along with that there is a new threat" Sora explained. "And he's called the Digimon Emperor" Salamon added. Mimi, Matt and Joe were shocked. "Not only that be he's somehow managed to prevent us from digivolving into champion" Tokomon added. "This doesn't sound good. Is there any way we can fight back?" Matt asked. "There is, but it's not us" TK said. "There are three new digidestined with new digivices that I am dubbing the D-3. I haven't been able to study one yet. I was planning on borrowing one of the D-3's and D-Terminals to study overnight tomorrow" Izzy explained. "And these new digidestined? How are they going to stop this Digimon Emperor?" Mimi asked. "They've got two tricks up their sleeves. One is Armor digivolution" Kari explained. "We don't know how it works, but somehow they were able to lift the Digi-eggs that had Tai, Izzy and Sora's crests on it and use them to digivolve their Digimon" TK explained. "For the sake of simplicity, I'm going to class any digivolutions that involve the Digi-eggs are Armor Level rather than champion, so we don't get confused" Izzy noted as everyone agreed. "Along with that, they have Digi-Modify, turns out their digivices have a card slot that allows them to slide cards through it and boost their Digimon depending on the card. Davis gave me a quick explanation on how it worked" Tai explained. "I'm guessing that's one of the new digidestined?" Joe assumed. "You'd be correct. At the moment he is the leader of the new group of digidestined. Tai handed him the goggles and everything" Sora confirmed. "And here I thought you got rid of them because you noticed how childish you looked with them all the time" Matt teased. "Hey! For your information, I rocked that look" Tai retorted. "Enough bickering, so these modify cards. Where did they get them?" Mimi asked. "That's the part that gets weird" TK admitted. "Turns out that the existence of Digimon has been known for even longer than us first going to the digital world" Izzy said "I've been doing research and it seems that there have been a few incidents in the past, almost 30 years ago to be exact, where digital anomalies occurred. However, it's mostly kept hidden under wraps by some shadow organization called Hypnos. I can't get any data aside from rumors and small posts about it on blogsites". This was quite a shock, to hear that Digimon could have come into the human world long before even Myotismon did, or even Parrotmon and Agumon from even further back. "So back to the cards. From what I've learnt, there used to be and still is a franchise for Digimon, and it's not a parody where everything is similar yet not the same. Like 100% copy of all the Digimon we've seen and fought, there are even more that we've never seen or heard of before" Izzy continued "And the card game, while extremely popular when it first came out as there were tournaments all over the country even". "Izzy, topic at hand please, you're starting to ramble" Mimi interrupted. Izzy got flustered as he coughed into his fist. "Yes, anyways, the point is the existence of Digimon long surpasses just the digidestined, thus having video games and a card game, which when Davis and the others scan slid their cards through the card slots, it causes their digivices to send a signal to their Digimon altering their code to give the intended effect, but that is just my running theory on it" Izzy summarized. "So, the new kids have magic cards that make their Digimon stronger and have a way to digivolve their Digimon while we can't, correct?" Joe asked. "Got it in one Joe" Tai confirmed "And while they are strong, they are still kids and are going to need guidance. So, I'm asking that whenever one of us is available we tag along to help and give advice or extra fire power". The rest of the digidestined agreed as they refused to just sit back when they could help with the digital world too. "I can tag along the day after tomorrow if need be. Dad's going to be working late so I don't need to cook" Matt offered. "Any help is better then none" Tai accepted.
A few disclaimers, i have only fully written the scripts for Chapters 1, 2 & 3 so expect uploads after chapter 3 to be slow. I will not be putting deadlines for myself because I know that if I do the quality of the chapters will dip big time. I've just started the editing phase for chapter 3 so be patient and keep an eye out because I might also do side stories between uploads if I feel like it
