It was safe to say Effie was an experienced party girl, she loved parties and events like the one she was currently at, Seneca had managed to get them into an exclusive new club and it was amazing, Effie had been drinking heavily and Seneca had scored her some pills "Don't make this a habit Effie, your mother would kill me if she thought I was facilitating a drug addiction." He said and she just laughed "Oh loosen up Seneca, everyone's doing it and I am certainly not addicted." She smiled "Come on let's dance." He said dragging her by the arm "How are people going to know you're available when you're dancing with me." She yelled over the music "Well I couldn't not dance with my favourite girl in the Capitol." He said and she grinned, they were very old friends, and in a way she loved him, she could trust him with anything.
"Why don't you go and buy your favourite party girl a drink?" She grinned "You should be buying me a drink with all the money you're making from your modelling contract." He teased "Oh Seneca don't you know a lady never pays when invited out by a gentleman." She smiled and he shook his head "I'll take that into consideration the next time I invite you to a club opening." He said and she pouted "You know you love me Seneca darling."
"Of course I do, so I'll go and get you that drink." and she perked up at that. As the night went on she got more and more wasted and Seneca concluded it was time to go. "Effie darling, I think you've had enough." He said as he tried to walk her to the door "Oh Seneca it's still early." She reasoned "Maybe for a seasoned party girl but I'm afraid I have to go, will you be okay making your own way home?" He asked and she nodded "Of course I will." He seemed satisfied with her answer and he left.
Effie continued to drink and have fun for a while after he left, but when she ended up throwing up in the club toilets she thought it was time for her to go to, she had to forfeit her wig when she was throwing up, so now she was left with her natural blonde waves, usually that would mortify her, but right now she didn't really care. Her makeup was also messed up, leading her to have to clumsily remove half of her eye makeup.
She stumbled out of the club hair flowing in the wind and realised that it was a mistake to not leave with Seneca, she was freezing, standing in nothing but a short tight red dress and her matching stiletto heels, she had insisted before she left that she did not need a jacket, it would ruin her outfit, but now as she scanned the dead streets for a taxi she regretted it.
Once she found that there was no taxi's she decided to walk for a little, holding her arms around her to shield herself from the cold. She walked for around half an hour before realising she was lost, and not in a good area of the Capitol either, she could see a crowd of working girls and walked past them quickly before running into a group of men, "Alright sweetheart." One of them said and she wondered why they were even talking to her. "Come on love, how much?" Another said taking a step towards her "She'll be too expensive for you, look at that dress, it ain't cheap." His friend said and Effie had caught on now "So how much for a quickie sweetheart?" He asked again "I'm not a hooker." She said and she didn't know whether to be offended or not.
She was about to walk away from them when a can of peacekeepers pulled next to them, the men ran, but she couldn't in her high heels, "You're being arrested for soliciting." One said before handcuffing her and putting her in the van "I'm not a prostitute." She tried to say but they wouldn't listen, They took her to a police station where she was put in an interview room.
"Look love you've been arrested for soliciting, it's not that bad." He told her and she just sighed "I'll have you know I'm an escort." She said and he laughed "That's pretty clear." He said and she rolled her eyes "Not like that, I'm an escort for the hunger games, district 12… I was at a party, and I got lost on my way back…" she said and he can tell he didn't believe her so she thought she'd try a different strategy "I believe I'm entitled to a phone call." She said and he nodded and let her use the phone.
It rang for a few minutes and she was scared he wouldn't pick up but he did "Haymitch, I'm really wasted and this guy thinks I'm a hooker and I need you to come pick me up." She said quickly and he had just made a few comments like what the fuck but had agreed to come and get her.
He showed up an hour later and was lead to the cell Effie was being held in "That's her alright, I can assure you she ain't a prostitute, she's my escort." He said and the man believed him "Okay then, you can take her home with no further questions." Haymitch sighed with relief "Come on princess, time to go." He said and helped her into a car.
"What the hell happened Effie?" He asked "I went to a party with Seneca and he left and I didn't want to leave, so I stayed but when I left there were no taxi's so I started walking and these guys thought I was a hooker, and the peacekeepers thought I was a hooker so I was arrested." She said and just laughed "I can't believe they thought you were a whore." She rolled her eyes, clearly not amused. "It didn't help they found me drunk and high surrounded by a group of men." She said
"God Effie Trinket you are wild." He said as they finally arrived back home, it was now the early hours of the morning and people seen them come in "What the fuck happened to you Trinket?" Johanna asked jokingly as she seen Effie and she just ignored her and walked past her "Come on princess, let's get you to bed." Haymitch finally said and she nodded with a yawn.
