Note: Yo I am so sorry, I wasn't intending for this to be a slow burn. I've never written romance/smut before and it is kinda intimidating. Hopefully spicy stuff soon!
Din Djarin and Bo-Katan barely saw one another in the two weeks that followed the announcement of their engagement. They were kept busy by the tedious decisions they had to make but, mostly didn't care to make, such as flowers for the occasion and seating arrangements in the great hall. It was too warm and Bo-Katan felt too restless. Her armor was staring at her across the room, she wore it every day but hadn't used it for its intended purpose in a while. She put it on and seal her helmet to head to the training ground.
It felt good to fire her blaster even if the targets were just holographic. The kickback was comforting and the hits were satisfying.
"I guess you couldn't sleep much either?" A familiar voice asked.
She turned just enough to catch of view of him. Din Djarin's shiny chrome armor reflected the training stadium's lights.
"No, too restless, you as well? Or is this your normal training hour?" She inquired. 'Maybe this is a good thing to know about him. We should figure out each other's schedules.'
"This was the only time I could find to train. I got cornered for two hours to go over all the different royal utensil layouts to use at the dinner table." He groaned.
"Oh yeah, sorry about that. We will probably have to make some official appearances with other royal families in the future. If it's any consolation I also hated learning it growing up and wanted to swipe my arm across the table to shove all the dinnerware on the floor."
Din chuckled at the thought of a little red-headed Bo-Katan pouting and not getting her way. Changing the subject he asked. "How have you been? Really?"
The sincerity of his voice, even through the helmet made her heart melt. Her chest and shoulders rose as she took a deep breath.
"Honestly, overwhelmed. I felt caught off guard by the situation and now it's going by so quickly I can barely keep the details straight." She shifted her weight from one foot to the other. "We barely know each other and you're doing so much for me. Why?" She asked.
"Well, I owe you, as you have saved my life more than once. I'm hoping this will completely clear off all my debt and I can be a free man again." He teased. Bo-Katan smiled. He liked when she genuinely smiled because it was like her whole face was smiling not just her lips.
"You're my leader and I will do anything to support you. I'm honored you chose me." The answer felt so scripted.
Bo-Katan pursed her lips. "Well...Thank you for your service. What are you going to do for your training?"
She let her hands hit her legs as her arms fell to her side. Bo-Katan was too tired to hide how disappointing that answer felt.
"I'm not sure, I hadn't thought about it much. I didn't realize I wouldn't be alone. Would you indulge me with a spar?"
A fun idea! It had been so long since she sparred.
They set up their weapons of choice around haphazardly around the training mat and waited in anticipation of the buzzer signaling their start. Din Djarin lunged for a blaster to his left and as he looked back to where Bo-Katan started, he heard the sound of her jet pack roar. She soared towards him with a staff and swung at his midsection. He quickly jumped back in time and centered his feet to fire his blaster at her. She activated the small shield on her arm to reflect the blast and then dove down again to swing a dagger at his arm. He quickly switched his flame thrower on and she stumbled back away from the flames. She bent down quickly to grab a sword on the ground and charged with both the sword and staff in her hands. As Din Djarin blocked the swing of her sword and hit his side with the staff.
He felt a little winded from the hit, she clearly wasn't holding back and maybe even taking out some frustrations. He kicked her foot from under her on her injured leg making her lose her balance a bit. She swung the sword down onto his helmet. The clanging noise echoed in the training center. He grabbed her wrist and twisted it until she dropped the sword but she still had the staff in her other hand and swatted at his leg. He squatted quickly to lower himself and grabbed her waist to throw her. She didn't go very far as she turned her jet pack back on. Bo-Katan aimed a blaster at him and fired it, of course bouncing off his beskar armor. He also activated his jet pack and joined her in the air. She pinned his forearms to the ceiling with her hands but he kicked back against the solid surface of the wall to cause them both to fall. They softened their falls with the throttle of their jet packs. She ran towards him and buckled his legs by crouching and side-swiping him with her strong leg. He fell over and she climbed on top of him and held a knife to his neck between his chest plate and helmet.
"Do you yield?" She asked with a mocking tone.
The grip on her knife loosened a little when she began to focus on the stubble on his neck. It was very short and dark stubble. 'I forgot that he has dark hair' she thought. The last time she saw his hair was when they met Luke. She only saw the back of his head with no hint of what his facial hair could be like. 'I wonder how often he has to shave?' She thought.
Din Djarin noticed her wavered focus and took the opportunity to knock the knife from her hand and flip her over so that she was pinned under him. He slipped a knife out of the armor on his forearm and held it to her throat.
"Do you yield, princess?" He asked.
She was still half shocked and still half thinking about his grooming habits. Din got up and offered a hand to help her up.
"Thanks, it's been a while since I've had a decent spar." He said.
"Yeah me too." She said a little embarrassed at her loss.
"How are your injuries healing?" He asked.
"Quiet well, I think they're just about better. The back is taking the longest to heal. The balm you gave me has been wonderful."
"I'm glad, let me know if you would like more." His thoughts drifted, he was a bit jealous that he wasn't able to put the balm on her skin himself. Her skin seemed so soft and warm from the touches he was afforded.
"I should get going. There's a busy schedule already set for tomorrow that I need to be ready for." She said as she started putting the training weapons away.
"Of course, you should go and rest, I'll finish cleaning up." He took the weapons from her hands and walked them to their bins.
"Thanks." She said as she dashed out of the training center.
She ran back to her room and collapsed on the floor. Why was her mind running through such indecent thoughts when he was on top of her? She dragged her hands down her face. She wanted to see more of him, remembering his hair color made her so much more curious than she thought she would be. Bo-Katan wanted to take off all of that heavy armor and see what was hidden underneath. And feel what was underneath. Grip her fingers through his dark locks and let her hands wander down the rest of him to get familiar with his touch. She smacked the back of her head against the wall, maybe she was too tired and that's why she was thinking this way. Would it have been better to pick a stranger from the list of eligible bachelors? Perhaps not knowing anything about them would've helped to keep her thoughts clean and the relationship more professional.
Din Djarin swept his hair back in the hot shower. How was he going to sleep now? Holding a knife to his throat released the seal of his helmet a little and he breathed in a generous helping of her scent while she was on top of him. There was a burning desire to take his helmet off and bury his face into her neck and continue breathing her smell in. She smelled like the summer, so warm and clean but with the slightest hint of an earthy aroma. As more time went on in his shower the more her scent faded from his memory and he loathed not being able to reach out and physically grab her scent. She looks so beautiful, she is a fierce warrior and patient politician, what was he even contributing to this alliance? Someone she wasn't so familiar with would've been better and wouldn't have wanted to take off her clothes in the training center to check all of her wounds to make sure she was taking care of them properly. He put his hand over his forehead and squeezed his temples, this arrangement might prove to be more difficult than he thought.
