I come to the Sierra Madre to find the lost replicator and hologram technology, I searched the Big Empty over and over again, but no, those technologies were not there, they were in Sierra Madre, Think Tank has given me task to find their lost technologies, I knew the legend of the Sierra Madre, but finding it proved to be surprisingly difficulty, So as soon as I heard the Vera's signal, I dropped everything and found herself in abondoned Brotherhood bunker.
Finding myself enslaved by a lunatic old-man in red-clouded Villa, was not in my plans, I had... suspicions who he could be... but kept my mouth shut. Right now he owned me with that collar. I wasn't sure how he would react, and knowledge was power, so I decided to wait until a perfect opportunity. Until I could sense a weakness from him. I decided to keep my suspicions to myself. And besides, we both wanted the same thing. So I was going to cooperate... for now.
Ghost people would be easy to kill.. if I had still access to her equipment...I was never good with physical fight(at least before the implants and cybernetics) I prefered to deal with her enemies by having technological superiority. So killing them was not very easy even with my augmented flesh. I wondered if Elijah lied to me about my missing equipment was not his work. I doubted it however, I had advanced technologies such as his LAER and transportalponder and oscilattor from the Big Empty. I had no doubt in my mind that he would question me about it if he stole my equipment. So eventually I managed to ''collect'' my 'partners'.
One was a brain-damaged mutant with personality-disorder. Splendid, as if I did not meet enough of those, usually it ended badly, for the mutants that is. But thankfully it seemed this one was willing to listen me, eventually I decided to take Dog with me. His brute strength would be useful, while I would be the brains. He also confirmed my suspicions... Elijah was the one who captured me. Well then, that means I can use Veronica and other information I knew about him to manipulate him later...
Next was ghoul who looked old even by ghoul standarts. With a smug looking face and a fancy pre-war suit. Threatening to bomb be during our conversation did not helped to build any relationship, so I fed his ego and acted submissive during our conversation.
The other and perhaps who had it worst of all was the Christine, My eyes widened in surprise when I recognized her. I heard this one in the Big Empty. And she was Veronica's lover. Of course I kept my mouth shut. Elijah was listening me thanks to my collar and pip-boy after all. Thankfully convincing this one was not so hard, I also knew she was pursuing Elijah, so she was going to be useful ally for dealing with him in future. She also taught me how to create more chips. I had to admit I enjoyed my interactions with her.
So we talked with the Elijah again, I thought about revealing my knowledge to him now, but decided against it, not when my ''companions'' were right next to me, so I put them in their places for this ridicilous ''Gala Event''. I had no time or interest to appreciate the Event, I was too busy running from ghost people.
Once I got into the casino, it was a dangerous but not terribly difficult procedure to wake the Madre up and get its systems running. I Had to deal with my ''partners'' and managed to get them all to stand down or at least not try to immediately kill me. They all seemed genuinely appreciative, but I had my reasons to keep her distance. Dean had held a grudge for two centuries because he felt Frederick Sinclair, the casino's owner and chief financier, had slighted him somehow. Courier wouldn't care less that he blackmailed some woman 200 years ago, she was going to need allies to deal with Elijah. So keeping him alive was the pragmatic option. Dog was a nightkin, an FEV mutant: even if I did merge his personalities of course I don't have a solid guarantee that he won't try to kill me later.
Even that Brotherhood assassin Christine: she was undoubtedly the most personable with me and the one who gave me the least reason to distrust her, but going down into the vault, I reminded myself: she was Brotherhood, I was brotherhood too, so I knew you'd be a fool to trust the Brotherhood at their word. I learned this personally when bunch of paladins slaughtered followers when Veronica tried to leave them. When she said she wasn't angry at Dean for subjecting her to the vocal cord surgery, that she'd done worse than that for worse causes - and would again, including to me, I knew.
Found the vault itself and what I surmised to be Sinclair's remains... huh, perilously lying atop one of the pipes in the titanic subterranean vault underneath the casino. Grabbed a key to what I believe to be his personal penthouse before I went into the vault itself. There was refined gold in there: no doubt hundreds of thousands of caps' worth of precious metals. but I ignored them.. No I was here something for much more worthwhile... Sierra Madre technology... Like I was tasked by The Think Tank, and I was going to complete my mission one way or another
And so Elijah spoke through the vault terminal before I could read too much into, Well, I knew who he was from the Brotherhood and Veronica, but did not get a true opportunity to reveal my knowledge to him, and here I finally had a chance to speak to him at reasonable length. He was... appreciative, almost. He talked to me how he found the Sierra Madre, previous teams and how they killed each other and of course he talked about the Big Empty... From his tone I could tell he was suspicious to me when he talked about that place, ah of course he hacked her pip-boy so he learned what I had done to that place, but did not know I was working for the them now. So I did not told him about it. And we talked more tried to get a sense of what drove him. He sought progress, advancement, technology: no different than the Brotherhood he formerly headed, but with the strength to use it. Well I could respect that. He told me the Madre's archives had huge databanks of information that he could use to shape the world. To ''Begin Again'' I was tasked with the same thing by the Think Tank too. Given what I'd seen of the technology here that was lost in Big Mountain: matter fabricators, intelligent hard light constructs, the corrosive Cloud that preserved technology... I believed it. If he could turn the hologram technology into a weapon for himself and then not only that, modify it and improve upon it, I could see.
I knew of Operation Sunburst of course, and given his near-reverence for the holograms as weapons of light, I knew that had to be where he had been previously. and during out talk I saw... vulnerability. He was tired: his work had been long and isolating. Bit of ''humanity'' I wasn't expecting for the man who'd directed his other victims to collar me. And there I finally saw a weakness and lunged to that weakness like a hungry deathclaw
''I know who you are, You're Veronica's mentor. The Elder who lost HELIOS One.'' I finally revealed to him
''Veronica... she... survived HELIOS. She would. Resourceful'' He did not even bothered to hide surprise and sorrow in his voice, I smiled to the open weakness.
''As for "losing" HELIOS One... that was the only outcome, aside from retreat'' His tone suddenly changed to hatred ''NCR, swarming like ants over Old World relics... Hoover Dam... HELIOS...''
''I won't let those... children seize anything else. Hardin... McNamara... can't stop them... won't so I will, with the Old World as my weapons.''
I raised an eyebrow, so this was just about revenge? that's it? she was a bit dissapointed, revenge was pointless, when she killed Benny, it felt like crushing radroach.
''So you wan't to attack NCR? all of the *NCR*''? she asked curiously
''Attack? No not attack them. Wipe the slate clean, make the Mojave like it was meant to be... undisturbed my man'' He muttered, seemingly lost himself in dreamland
''I'll send the Cloud, the Holograms. Bring ruin in my hands until only I stand atop the HELIOS One tower again, l'll scour Hoover Dam with the Cloud, rain its walls with spears from the sun... with an army of Old World ghosts behind me, Holograms all!'' She could almost feel and dream his words in her head
''I'll kill them until it's only me, me alone... in a quiet world.'' He let out a sigh, seemingly in peace, and there...she saw something similiar
''In a world that's nothing like what happened at HELIOS One'' Elijah finished his words, seemingly calmed down...
Well, she was not friend of the NCR or Legion for obvious reasons, he could kill them all if he wanted, but she still had her mission, so she had do deal with him.
''If you want to kill, NCR, that is fine with me'' I admitted
"I've read your Pip-Boy, seen and know what you've done. If you wish to end them, I could use someone like you: resourceful, uncompromising. The NCR has many soldiers, many citizens..." I wasn't sure if he was talking about NCR or Big Mountain in my pip-boy, but right now I was more focused in his words.
As much as I pride myself on being driven by logic and making calculated decisions, Could I really do this? Join this madman in his quest? She had to admit... the world he wanted to create seemed interesting... She loved the Sierra Madre... there was something peaceful about it. Not to mention the almost invincible technology, and completing my mission for The Think Tank. I can't deny that the offer he seemed to be proposing to me was appealing, and so I said screw it and I accepted it.
"Then we better get to killing them."
For a moment I wasn't sure if he was going to hold up his end of the bargain, but he then said.
"Hnh, perhaps... perhaps I was too quick to put a collar on a potential ally. Very well, I'll come down and show you what the Sierra Madre has in store."
The weeks that followed this has been a blur: my 'companions' are killed by him, but they were irrelevant when compared to this... technology. He was also a genius and I've already learned an astonishing amount from him. He greatly reminded me Mr House. but... more controlling and unstable. His understanding of energy weapons and all matter of weapons science is encyclopaedic. already I've been able to better my own energy weapons. Once the collars were removed, I also told him all about the Big Mountain, and even brought his LAER back from the bunker. Greatest energy weapon I ever found. To say he way happy to find his weapon back would be understatement, and even more after I explained to him I had access to The Think Tank, and I can go there with him. But not until we cleaned this place. He accepted the offer so I explored the rest of the casino, and gods, this place is a treasure trove. Pre-war texts, more crafting machines, enormous quantities of the Cloud, more hologram emitters... why, it could take us months or even years to go through it all. But by far the most incredible of the Madre's gifts has been its archives in the vault's terminal. Elijah and I have spent almost the entire month analysing what we've downloaded from there so far:
- A full atmospheric and chemical analysis of the Cloud, revealing it to be a diabolically clever feat of chemical engineering - a gas that is not poisonous but corrosive and self-perpetuating, that decays and kills without destroying everything while preserving technologies at the same time, with this technologies would last forever without any maintenance...
- Full technical documentation on the holograms, their coding, patrol logic, routes, and even construction of their housing units: detailed enough that we will be able to build additional units for ourselves...
- In-depth schematics and ways to bypass and add to the vending machines - we can now use them to create...anything. They were already of exceptional use even with what I was able to find in the areas of the Madre outside the casino... now, now they are priceless. Scarcity of anything is no longer a concern for us...
I took a few trips back to the Villa to gather all the materials I'd had to leave behind without overburdening myself. We aren't entirely sure of the exact metallurgical content or production process for the alloys that the emitters use, but he recognised it from its origins in the Big Empty. As fortune would have it, the knives and blades I'd found in the Villa and off the corpses of the ghosts that used them were composed of that alloy. Tried to melt it down but it appears it will take better, hotter-burning fuel: not surprising for such a unique metal. Regardless, my supply is safely stashed in the suites above the casino.
He had held up his end of the bargain, he freed me, gave me access to an ocean's worth of truly priceless information and data, so I can't deny that I feel a bit of respect and 'obligation' to see his vision through. At the very least, we share the understanding that the NCR *needs* to be eliminated, down to its very last.
He showed me the superior models of holoweaponry and LAER I brought him: a way to condense the immense power of these technologies into a pistol-size frame as well as a truly devastating shotgun-style weapon. I have to admit that the man knows weapons without an equal, and I look forward to bringing the full might of these Old World gifts to bear on the Republic. Whether it is as his peer or by myself, what I have learned and will learn from both of Big Empty and Madre has given me the power I need to wipe the NCR and Legion out completely...
And finally after we sweeped the Sierra Madre clean and downloaded all my findings to my Pip-Boy I have returned to The Empty, Brains congrulated me, specifically Dala was very worried about me. After I explained my and Elijah's plans for the Mojave, Klein merely just said:
''I SEE, NEW PARAMETERS FOR OUR EXPERIMENTS. THANK YOU LOBOTOMITE.''
Elijah contracted to her through her Pip-boy and then she saw the message
Courier Six, The time has come...
(WILD WASTELAND) Execute Order 66
Mr. House let out a digital sigh, Courier Six, his current employee, disappeared... again. When he first rescued her, he was glad that he made the right choice. Because only a few hours later of her recover she involved with gunfight in goodsprings, he watched her progress through Victor, she organized the people of there and defeated the powder gangers, even tried to recruit Victor, that much he expected. And that moment he realized she would be great replacement for Benny and worthy of investment.
And then... she traveled to powder ganger camps, exterminating their camps one by one and lastly to correctional facility, where she killed everything that lived, approximately she killed forty powder gangers all by herself.
Needless to say that I did not expected
At that moment I wasn't sure if recruiting her would be a good choice, I try to avoid working with mercanaries motivated by bloodlust, but I had no better alternative, so I kept watch her progress through Victor, First she travelled to Primm, killed even more powder gangers then reprogammed that robot as sheriff. And reparing that Enclave eyebot. Then instead of contining to pursue Benny as I hoped, she instead... decided to explore... killing, looting and collecting plants... for reasons beyond my comprehension
Finally She traveled to mojave outpost, after staying there a while she traveled to Nipton... which was in fire... after she traveled there... and powder gangers were known to stay in that city... But surely she couldn't raze a town all by herself just to kill some powder gangers right? Later on he learned that it was Legion who razed the town, and he let out a sight of relief. Perhaps she wasn't a complete sociopath after all... He almost pitied Benny for what he brought on himself. And wondered just what he unleashed upon the Mojave.
He stopped thinking about the past, finally, one of his newly upgraded MK2 securitrons, detected his current favorite Courier, he was relieved that she was safe. It was the third time she disappeared from his radar, and hoped it would be the last. He had to admit, he was slowly getting attached to her, she was surprisingly smart and had understanding in technology. He would admit that he enjoyed talking with her... In fact he could say that Courier... was like a daughter he never had...despite her... unstable tendencies.
Wait, was that a proton sword? where did she found that?
Wiping out the khans was easier than she expected, their corpses were all around, as holograms still continued kill the survivors, She took aim and fired her LAER when one of the tribal tried to attack her with his primitive weapon before she reduced him to his atoms. Now that their leaders were dead, khans would be history, she finished what House and NCR started.
(WILD WASTELAND) She killed them all. Not just men, but women and children too, they lived like animals so she slaughtered them like animals.
Sneaking in Boomers terrority with stealth suit in the dark night wasn't that difficult, she just had to be patient, she jumped through metal gate, killing the guards before they could even realize what happened while she was still cloaked. She then did what she done best, getting inside their buildings and killing everything inside.
She equipped her X-02 power armor and Spartel-Wood 9700 and wiped out all the wastes of flesh known as fiends from the face of the earth, their dead bodies would be much more useful for ecosystem than they were alive.
Last of the powder gangers were like annoying radroaches, after she learned last of them hid in vault 19, she traveled there and did the usual, putting the holograms on door to prevent any of the pest escape while she did the control.
Oh Brotherhood Chapter Of The Mojave, Elijah and Veronica were so right about them, they were doomed, she would just speed up the process, she cloaked herself and infiltrated inside with a stealth suit, killed Ramos with her plasma sword. Then hacked turret terminal to make them attack brotherhood members. During that chaos, she placed more holograms to help the turrets. Then activated the self-destruct, and sprinted to the exit. Holograms prevented any of them escape. Mojave Chapter of the Brotherhood was no more...
When the betrayal came, it was sudden and desperate for all involved parties. His upgraded Securitron forces were easily destroyed by an advanced energy weapon in her hands, Courier made a mad dash towards the sealed room that housed his capsule, and his person within. When the doors finally parted, the turrets serving as his last line of defense opened fire on the intruder, and his visual feeds updated to reveal the courier once more and he finally saw the face, he realized where his security measures had lapsed. The courier bore a visage that resembled a roadmap of surgical scars criss-crossing over what parts of her face were visible, trailing away and disappearing into her mismatched, protective attire. He'd read the reports and seen the photos of those that allegedly emerged from Big MT, or the Big Empty as the leyfolk had erroneously named. Mad victims of technological abominations that made that place into a macabre parody of scientific progress, and the courier seemed to be just the latest amongst its victims. He knew The Big Mountain of course, they even made him offer to join them, but after he seen what was happening in that place, he refused it. He wasn't a saint, but even he had limits.
Another energy shot from her weapon, and the next, and last he saw of his betrayer was with his own living eyes, was this his fate? getting betrayed by his employees? when his electronic control was severed and his capsule unsealed, exposing his defenseless form to the outside world, sealing his fate, regardless of whether or not he would survive the next minute. The courier was hardly even human anymore under all the cybernetic modification, her eyes radiating a constant glow, her breathing mechanical, and a low and steady thrum reverberated through her being as though an engine had replaced her heart. And who knows what else he couldn't see.
''Why have you... done this?... centuries of preparation... so much good, undone...'' he could ask at least. He wanted to learn why she had done this, if she would even bother with the answer.
''Yes Man needs you out of the way.'' She mechanically said, without any emotion.
There was something about her tone that made his blood froze... He talked with her before, and she wasn't like this, no doubt that Big Mountain changed her. There was a line he would never cross, even though he was a half-machine this Courier right now was everyting he did not want to become.
''Your... vanity project... doomed to fail...'' He wheezed out, perhaps it was better this way he thought, perhaps he should have died a long time ago. He wanted his final thoughts toward his legacy. What indelible mark would his passing leave? What would become of the Strip, his shining beacon for all mankind to flock towards, to look up to?
''You won't be able to control anything, but I'll let you live.'' His betrayer said, his eyes widened in horror
''No! ...Don't disable... cerebral... I'd rather be... killed... just kill... me..'' He begged, it was worse than death!
''I'm afraid I can't do that Mr. House, I know it may be hard to believe, but I actually respect you... and my 'employers' wants to meet you as well'' She mechanically explained.
It could only be...
Then something teleported behind the Courier, It had a human brain, glowing purple and had three screens with twisted mockery of human mouth and eyes, he easily recognized the design... The Think Tank was here right on front of him.
And he had nothing to defend himself.
''Well done my dear lobotomite'' a synthetic female voice complimented The Courier the same way a human would compliment a good pet
Wait... was that Dala..?
''Hello Robert, it has been while isn't it?'' Dala mockingly asked him, ''We are very eager to welcome you among us, yes even Doctor O, you can thank her for that'' Dala said. Then an Auto-doc teleported behind her.
''I even prepared your tank, it's dark green just like the way you would have liked, I hope you will like it''
''No...'' He wheezed out
''You don't like it? I'm sorry but I can't prepare another, so you will have to make do''
''Nooooo!'' he shouted in horror
''Shhhh, Robert, don't worry everything will be fine'' Dala comforted him then she activated the Auto-doc and her vivisectors
Legion was on the move with Lanius, Second Battle Of Hoover Dam was about to start, truth is she won, she already won the battle, it was just not offical yet, and neither NCR or Legion knew about it. They will learn, after she launches these modified Repconn rockets, and spread the cloud to Hoover Dam, Camp Mccaran and to The Fort. She fixed these rockets with robots while holograms provided protection to kill tresspassers and scavengers. Thankfully former owners already made some good progress, before Courier took care of them.
After she wiped out the Powder Gangers, Fiends, Great Khans, Boomers and the Brotherhood. Only strip families could be problem, since she killed their securitrons would easily kill them all, if cloud doesn't care of them first. Courier recaptured the HELIOS one tower and activated both ARCHIMEDES and ARCHIMEDES II. Elijah was going to assist her remotely with ARCHIMEDES II during the battle. Now all she had to kick both NCR and Legion and finish this once and for all. Plan was simple, unleash the cloud with rockets upon both factions, wipe out the survivors with securitrons and holograms. Kill both Lanius and Oliver
Just when she was about to launch the rockets, she hesitated, a small part in her recoiled, did she really could do this? unleashing the cloud would change Mojave for decades if not permanently, After she switches that button, there would be no going back...
Begin Again
She whispered the words and activated the rockets, sealing the fate of The Mojave.
Oh by the way, this story is greatly inspired from ''The Dust'' and ''Masters of The Madre'' mod. Go ahead and try them, trust me you will not regret it. Dust mod is outdated though so be careful.
