AN: Part of the Kadam Week 2023 prompt 3: Failed kidnapping
Adam: We almost got surprise adopted!
Adam's apples: What?
Kurt: We almost got kidnapped.
Adam and Kurt were the last one to reach their rehearsal space, and of course there were catcalls and teasing, they should have known that would happen.
Kurt held his messenger bag close to his chest as he attempted to stay composed. It was a valiant attempt nonetheless despite knowing it was probably a lost cause from the very beginning.
Adam just chuckled at the teasing ganging up and quipped back "Actually we almost got surprised adopted"
Jazz was the first to react to that blurting out a disbelieving "You what?"
Kurt huffed placing his bag down on the table "More like we almost got kidnapped on the way here"
JJ leaned closer to Kurt resting an arm on his shoulder "My dude, that's not really any better nor more enlightening description of what happened. But I'll give you that it does sound like a good excuse for tardiness."
Adam chuckled at the dramatic reactions of the apples. "Naah, if anything I'd say we were the ones doing a catnapping"
As if that was the expected cue a soft meow came from Kurt's bag, then a little black flooffy head peeked out revealing vibrant round yellow eyes.
It was no surprise at all that Willow and Chris were the first one to come closer to the kitten and offer their fingers to be scented.
Leon chose instead to be the voice of the group, asking the questions that he know were passing also on the other apples' minds. "Does this mean that you guys are going to take over Danny's apartment? Because as far as I know neither your places actually allow animals"
Kurt sniffed pretending to think whether or not answering the question. Not that it was really needed, the radiant look on Adam's face was spoiler enough.
The fact that in one of their groups' night out Kurt had affirmed that the next time he moved would be to walk into a home full of love and a furbaby waiting for him when he'd come back home.
Paul looked skeptical at Leon's question, not for the moving in together part more for the wondering on whether Kurt was aware of the repercussion of having a cat with fur, roaming through the house. "You do know right that fur will be anywhere and sewing and clothes are going to be forever with traces of hair, hmm?"
Kurt simply grinned and shrugged "That won't be a problem at all"
James had been quietly observing and basking in the apples' enthusiasm, but at Kurt's statement his jaw fell. "Holy crap, you guys I can't believe it, you are not going to take over Danny's flat… You've actually taken the house, am I right?"
Adam's grin was simply brilliant as he took Kurt's left hand up and placed a kiss on the simple matching silver band resting on the ring finger. "That you are my friend, that you are."
Needless to say that while the spirits were high, none of the material was actually rehearsed that afternoon.
Adam couldn't find in himself to be upset by any of that...
