Effie had always enjoyed Haymitch's company and his teasing, and his teasing of her dress only brought out the playful side of her personality, she decided she would surprise him, she slipped away from him and the rest of the mentors to Haymitch's room, where she proceeded to undress and remove her wig and makeup. She then sat on the frame of his bed, in a provocative position, Haymitch shouldn't be too long, she thought, when she had slipped out he was already speaking of leaving.
She seen the handle of the door turn and got excited, thinking about what was going to happen but when the door opened it was not Haymitch who walked through it was none other than Peeta, who walked in seen her and immediately shielded his eyes, Effie shrieked and grabbed Haymitch's sheets to pull around her naked figure. "Sorry Effie." He said from behind the door, she was humiliated. "I was coming because Haymitch is drunk downstairs, could you come help."
"Of course, I'll be out in a minute." She said trying not to cry out of pure shame, she then realised she could not get back into her dress without a styling team, or another person, it was too difficult. "Peeta darling." She said and Peeta could hear she was mortified. "Yes?" He said and she took a deep breath, "I cannot get back into this dress, would you mind going into my room, in my closet there is a summer dress, it's plain red, you can't miss it, it's the only thing in there that isn't designer." She said awkwardly.
And he left and found it easily, he could hardly believed she owned such a simple dress, that looked like someone in the districts would wear it, he went back to Haymitch's room and knocked on the door, he seen Effie's hand appear from behind it and he handed her the dress "Thank you." She said and put the dress on coming, she didn't have time to put on her makeup or wig so she just came out and got out a pair of red heels before meeting Peeta outside the penthouse.
The whole elevator ride was very awkward, they didn't speak a word until they were outside "So what's he done this time?" She asked him finally "He threw up on Chaff then passed out." He told her and she sighed "God why do I even bother with this man." She was tired of trying to pull him out of these situations what she had thought would be a hot night had turned out to be very embarrassing for her.
Effie went back in to get Haymitch , high heels clicking, in her very short sun dress. Finnick whistled at her "Looking good Trinket." He said looking at her legs and she just rolled her eyes "I'm still too old for you." She said and Johanna shook her head "Your boyfriend there is 10 years older than you." Johanna pointed out. "He's not my boyfriend."
She started to shake Haymitch awake "Come on Haymitch, time to go." She said softly and he stirred she tried shaking him again but he jerked and It threw off her balance, so she fell forwards onto his lap, "Hey Princess." He slurred with a grin, honestly this man had not manners and no shame. She got up off him "Yeah sure he's not your boyfriend." Jo laughed "Oh will you be quiet, Haymitch, let's go." She said sharply. "Peeta, Katniss will you please take Haymitch upstairs, I'll be up in a minute." They both listened and helped Haymitch out.
Effie stayed to speak with the mentors, "Chaff I'm so terribly sorry about this, I can have your clothes dry cleaned." She offered and he shook his head "It's fine Trinket, they ain't worth it." He assured her "So Effie, only into older men then?" Finnick asked "For the last time Haymitch and I are not dating." She said "Of course your not he's just fucking you." Jo pointed out "We are not having sex." She said in frustration.
"Well it's a shame your not into younger guys, cause I'm digging the natural look, what brought that on?" He asked and she smiled "Oh when Peeta came to get me I was already in bed, and my styling team went home, this is the only thing I can get into without them." She lied but the believed her all the same "Anyway I better go up and check on Haymitch, Goodnight." She said and left.
She went into Haymitch's room and slumped down next to him on the bed "Alright Princess?" He said and she shook her head "I was going to surprise you tonight, I was waiting for you, Peeta came up to your room and opened the door knowing you were already downstairs, and I was sitting here completely naked." She admitted and he started laughing she hit him on the arm "It's not funny Haymitch Peeta has now seen me naked and has probably told Katniss we are together." She huffed and he continued to laugh and put an arm around her "Oh princess he's probably just glad he got to see a hot girl naked." He dismissed her and she buried her head in his chest in shame. "But thanks for coming to get me, and nice dress by the way." He said and she laughed "Thank you."
