One
Addison came back to the room to find her girlfriend curled in the middle of the bed in fetal position, holding her knees tight to her chest. For a moment the redhead thought the blonde was asleep but as she got closer she saw that she was shaking slightly and her eyes were wide open, shedding heavy and hot tears on the mattress.
"Mer?" She called as she got closer and sat on the chair next to her hospital bed. "Are you in pain?" She asked, worrying about the incisions from her recent surgeries.
Meredith nodded, ever so slightly.
"Where does it hurt, princess?" Addison asked softly as she ran a hand through Meredith's oily hair. She had been in the hospital for far too long.
"Everywhere," she croaked with a hoarse voice. "My chest," she specified. "My head, my heart," my soul, she wanted to add but that sounded melodramatic even if it was true.
"Okay. Let me get some morphine for you, yeah?" Addison squeezed her hand before standing up. Two minutes later she came back with a nurse who replaced her old bag of morphine and placed it on the machine so Meredith would get automatic doses. "Why don't you sleep for a bit, hmm?"
"I can't," she mumbled as she held her knees a little tighter, she didn't care that the position was causing some pain in the incision on her belly where Addison had fixed her cervix. "Whenever I close my eyes... I'm back with him," she sobbed her confession and Addison's heart broke down at the sound of her words. She wanted to help her but she didn't know how. So, she leaned in and pressed her forehead to Meredith's temple as she kissed her fingers. "Addie?" Meredith called after a while.
"Yeah?"
"It's okay if you leave me," she started even if she didn't want to. "This is not what you signed for and I know you say that my issues won't get in the way but this is not what I was talking about when I said I have issues," she ranted as more tears left her eyes. "What I'm saying is that, I won't hold it over you if you want to leave me," Addison cursed the universe rather loudly startling Meredith who had only heard her curse a few times since they started dating.
"I won't leave you," Addison said firmly. "I love you and you love me, that's enough for me and... this was not your fault and in no way changes how I feel about you. On the contrary, I think I love you more now because of how strong you will need to be," Addison pulled away and looked hard into Meredith's eyes to assure her that she was dead serious about that.
"He said you'd leave eventually, that you..." she broke down in painful sobs.
"What he said doesn't matter," Addison snapped before calming down. "I won't leave unless that is what you want, and even then it would take a lot of fighting from my side before I finally leave you," Addison sighed. "I love you, princess, and I'll stay with you, always," Meredith continued to cry as she heard Addison's assurances, she grabbed her hand and brought it close to her face until it was cupping her cheek and she cried some more before speaking again.
"Sleep with me?" She asked with a small voice.
"Baby, Bailey and/or the nurse will kick my ass if they find me in your bed," Addison winced, she
had never thought that the only-patients-in-beds rule was stupid until the blonde asked her to sleep with her.
"Please, Addie," she pleaded. "I've been sleeping alone in this bed for far too long and I hated every second of it," she complained. "I don't know how to sleep without you anymore," she admitted as an after thought and Addison couldn't deny her that request a second time, so she stood and walked to the other side of the bed, at least that way, she wasn't going to be in the way of the monitors, the crash cart and she wouldn't sleep on Meredith's IV.
She kicked her sneakers close to the couch and away from the bed so they wouldn't be in the way and got in the small hospital bed behind Meredith. She passed an arm under Meredith's head and the other one around her waist as she brought her close to her body. She was careful of her bandages but held her close, hiding her face in Meredith's hair which smelled like a generic soap that the hospital uses.
"Okay?" She asked once they were settled. "Yeah, thank you,"
"I love you... sleep a bit,"
"I love you too," she breathed with content relief. They fell asleep like that and that's how Miranda Bailey found them in the morning, early for rounds. She almost didn't wake them up, they looked so cozy and she knew Meredith had been having trouble sleeping since the attack, but she had to check the blonde.
"Addison," she whispered, shaking the redhead first. The neonatal blinked away her sleepiness and turned to look at Miranda. "Sorry— rounds," she murmured as some sort of explanation.
Addison nodded and got her arm —that was almost numb, she didn't care— from under Meredith's waking her up in the process. "Princess, time for rounds,"
"Just a little more before Bailey comes," she grumbled in her sleep. "Miranda is already here," she told her and then she opened her eyes.
"I'm sorry she was in bed with me," she told Miranda as Addison got up and she finally saw the other doctor.
"I didn't see anything," Miranda smiled slightly as she moved to check her incisions sites and check her vitals. "How's the pain? I see you got a new bag of morphine," Miranda asked, eying the machine with the bag.
"It got worse last night, but it's fine right now," Meredith replied. "Dr. Bailey, do we... Does the hospital have a psychologist?" It was probably a dumb question, of course the hospital should but her brain was fuzzy with pain meds and sleep.
"Yes, do you want me to schedule a visit?" Miranda asked carefully.
"If you don't mind," she nodded. Addison and Miranda sighed in relief, it was a healthy decision and it showed that Meredith wanted to get better eventually.
"I'll see that one comes down in the afternoon," Miranda rested a hand on hers and squeezed it before letting go. "I'll check on you later, try to eat something, alright?" She suggested as she left, Meredith hadn't been eating that well either.
"I'll make sure she eats," Addison assured her, shooting Meredith a pointed look. The blonde rolled her eyes playfully as Miranda left. "I'm proud of you, by the way," Addison sat next to her on the bed once they were alone.
"Why? For asking for a shrink? It's the normal thing to do," she dismissed with a scoff.
"Yes, for asking for help when I know that you struggle with that," Addison smiled cheekily and kissed her cheek.
"Can I get a latte and a bagel?" Meredith asked. "I'm not hungry enough for a full meal,"
"Let's try a tea instead of a latte, or juju," the redhead proposed and she was tired enough not to fight her on that, so she nodded. "I'll be right back,"
"Okay, I love you," she pecked her lips as she stood.
"I love you more," she called over her shoulder with a huge smile.
"Go to Hawaii. Take Meredith away," Preston Burke said, handing the neonatal surgeon the flight tickets that he and Cristina would've used if they had gotten married a few days ago.
"What?" Addison turned to Cristina for an explanation.
"We are not going, and it's already paid," she shrugged. "Meredith needs some time away from the hospital and from Seattle in general, so take her away and we'll be waiting for you," Cristina rested her hand on top of Addison's and squeezed it gently.
"Cristina, I don't know how to do this," Addison whispered at the verge of tears.
"Good thing I do," an extra voice joined their conversation. "Dr. Katharine Wyatt, psychiatrist," she offered her hand to all of them. "I was asked to come down and support you on this,"
"Oh good," Addison seemed to be able to breathe better. "What do you think about this?" Addison showed her the tickets. "Is it a good idea?"
"Yes it is, at least for now. From what I've learned from Meredith," She gestured towards the room where a sulking Meredith was trying to get some sleep. "She needs a breather, a time away from here because she's trying so hard not to feel it at all, but she will—eventually ... I prefer if that's outside the hospital where you are already under scrutiny,"
"I think we'll leave you to it," Preston piped in before taking Cristina away with him.
"I need you to coach me Dr. Wyatt, I need to be able to help her when she is finally ready to feel this," the redhead pleaded and Katharine wished all her patients were so eager to learn.
"Princess?" Addison called as she stepped into the room and saw Meredith laying on the bed with her back to her.
Sniff. "Hey, baby," Meredith turned around after cleaning her cheeks from the tears she had been shedding before Addison stepped in. "Come here," she invited her, moving aside and patting the space she just freed.
"Are you in pain?" Addison asked as she walked closer and laid next to her, on her side so they could face each other.
"Not much, I'm just tired but restless," Meredith saw no point in lying to Addison, she could read her like an open book, so she may as well be honest.
"There's something I want to discuss with you," Addison fidgeted with the sleeve of Meredith's sweater before looking up at her.
"Are you gonna end it with me?" Meredith's vulnerable voice broke Addison's heart. How could she even think that she was going to break up with her? "I don't think I can take it, right now," she murmured more to herself than to Addison. The redhead frowned at that, it was just last night that Meredith had told her that she could leave—she still didn't want to, but it was a weird contrast.
"Princess, I am not going to break up with you," the redhead enunciated every word with a kiss to Meredith's lips. The blonde breathed out in relief. "What I wanted to discuss is if you want to go away with me for a few days,"
"Away?" The blonde doctor tilted her head in confusion. Addison thought it was probably the most adorable gesture she had ever seen in the blonde.
"Cristina and Preston are giving us their honeymoon trip to Hawaii. I talked with Dr. Wyatt and she thinks it would be good for you, but I wanted to know what do you think,"
"What about your patients?" Meredith's eyes focused on hers with concern. "Am I even being discharged soon?" She added as she thought more about it.
"I can take a few days, there are other OBs, not just me," the redhead smirked.
"There's just one of you though, what if someone needs you, one of the foremost neonatal surgeons?" Addison felt love washed over her as Meredith proudly and worriedly asked.
"You and I need some time alone and away, you're my priority," the redhead protested lightly. "And Miranda, Preston and Richard think it's a great idea, but they'll come see you in the morning to talk about discharging you,"
"Hmm," Meredith hummed pensively.
"All you have to say is yes..." The redhead said encouragingly. "Or you can tell me to go fuck myself," She joked, making Meredith laugh.
"I'd love to get away with you, Addie..." She smiled tenderly. "But I worry that if we go away, I won't want to come back... here," she added with concern and sincerity.
"I see your point," Addison conceded, because she wasn't sure if she ever wanted to come back to the place where her ex-husband attacked her girlfriend. Perhaps, they could go to another state, work in another hospital; Addison's friend, Naomi, was working in a fertility clinic in LA and she was sure that they could get a job with Charlotte King at St. Ambrose. Meredith also has opportunities in Boston, they could get a job at Mass Gen, they would be thrilled to have Ellis Grey's daughter working for them. They could leave Seattle behind, but... "We'll cross that bridge when we get to it, I just want you to know that whatever you decide, I'll be there with you... as long as you want me,"
"As long as you want me, you mean?"
"I'll always want you, princess," Addison kissed her nose, then her eyelids, her cheeks and finally her lips, making the blonde giggle.
"Let's go away then," Meredith finally said after sharing a few kisses with her girlfriend. "Okay,"
Two
Meredith and Addison are back at Seattle Grace, a new class of interns is in and a secret is out to Mark Sloan.
Chapter Notes
hahaha I couldn't wait to post this second chapter that is actually my favorite because of the little cameo of a Station 19's character, I hope you like it!
Meredith's leg bounced anxiously as Addison parked her car and turned off the engine. The redhead noticed and once her hands left the wheel she placed a comforting hand on her girlfriend's knee.
"I'm sorry," Meredith apologized when she jerked away from Addison touch and her hand retreated. The blonde grabbed her hand and brought it to her lap.
"Don't be," Addison smiled reassuringly. "Nervous?"
"More like anxious, antsy, stir-crazy," Meredith recounted with a shaky breath.
"Someone's been reading the dictionary, I see," Addison teased her with a smirk, earning herself an icy glare. "You can take the extra days Richard offered," she reminded her.
"I don't want to be at home if you aren't there, it's too silent," she grumbled. "I just need a moment,"
"Take all the time you need, we are not supposed to be here so early," Addison reached out to place a stray strand of golden hair behind her ear. "If during the day, you feel overwhelmed or anything and want to go home, please page me, alright?"
"You too, baby," Meredith sighed as she brought Addison's hand to her lips. The redhead smiled adoringly as she felt the blonde's lips on her knuckles. "Let's go, we can have some coffee and a muffin before we start," Meredith opened the door and hopped out while gesturing to Addison to stay there while she circled around the car. "Your unholiness," Meredith cheekily said as she opened the door and offered her hand to the redhead.
"Thank you, M'lady," Addison bowed slightly as she got out of the car.
"Must I say, you look demonic today, special occasion?" She asked as they walked hand in hand towards the hospital entrance.
"New intern souls to torture," she smiled devilishly. "Do you have your big speech ready?"
Meredith shrugged nonchalantly. "I'll just copy Bailey's," Addison chuckled at that. "I'll just add that they stay away from the beautiful neonatal surgeon,"
"Oh yeah, how are they gonna learn if they stay away?" The redhead asked amused.
"You teach them about surgery, the rest you teach it to me," Meredith blew a kiss in her direction.
"Hmm possessive, I like it," Addison hummed, bumping Meredith's shoulder with hers.
"You have no idea, I almost didn't let you out of bed today," the blonde growled as they advanced in the line to get coffee.
"We should've stayed in bed," Addison rasped out seductively and was about to lean down to kiss the blonde's lips when someone behind them cleared their throat. Meredith and Addison turned around to see a beet red George O'Malley looking at his feet.
"George? Hi!" Meredith smiled.
"Hi, I, um, have to... I have something to tell you," George stammered sparing Addison a glance, Meredith noticed and grabbed the redhead's hand in hers.
"Okay, what's up?" Meredith frowned confused and George was summoning the courage to tell her when a young brunette walked up to them with a nervous smile.
"Hi, sorry to interrupt, are you Meredith Grey?" She asked. Meredith took a moment to look at her, there was something familiar in her features but she couldn't place a finger on it. The brunette was wearing light blue scrubs and a pager on her hip, so she was an intern, possibly one of hers that wanted to probably score points before their shift started.
"Yeah, I am... if you're one of my interns, I'll meet all of you in an hour in the intern's locker room," she nodded at her with a clear dismiss of in her voice, she was curious about what George wanted to say.
"No... I'm, I..." she started, but George interrupted her.
"Lexie!" He hissed. Lexie? Meredith thought, in confusion, where she had heard that name? "Not now,"
"What's going on?" Addison asked, clearly curious and confused. "I'm Lexie," the brunette breathed shakily.
"Yeah. I got that," Meredith deadpanned. She was getting irritated by the lack of responses to their questions.
"Lexie Grey, I'm your sister,"
And a terrifying silence fell around them, it was like everyone around has stopped to listen what the fuck was happening in the life of Meredith Grey.
"Morning," Meredith turned to the barista at the coffee cart, completely ignoring the pained and confused look in Lexie's face, the reservation in Addison and George's eyes. "I would like a pecan latte, a cinnamon latte and two chocolate muffin with almonds, please," she ordered her and Addison's breakfast before she paid and turned to the two interns—yes, of course she knew George hadn't passed his intern exam and was already thinking about talking to Richard about it— and her
girlfriend with a neutral expression in her face. "Did... did you hear what I said?" Lexie asked.
"I did. You're Alexandra Grey, daughter of Susan and Thatcher Grey, which means that we are genetically related, but I don't see myself as your sister as I don't see your father as mine," Meredith laid out politely what this meant for her, she didn't want to hurt the girl but she wasn't going to allow herself to be hurt by letting her (and Thatcher) in her life. "I don't know you, but you seem like a nice smart girl, so believe when I tell you that I don't mean to hurt you but I don't want anything to do with you or your family, not again," she added softly and turned in time to grab her order and pass Addison hers. "I assume this was what you wanted to tell me, George," she asked her friend, who nodded sheepishly.
"And that I'm your intern," he added as they moved away from the coffee cart.
"Not for long, I assure you," she smiled at him, the smile was sincere and bright which stunned the intern. "I'll see you in an hour then, good luck Lexie Grey," she nodded at her before Addison and Meredith left them behind in lieu of finding an empty table to enjoy their food.
"Are you...? Do you...?" Addison tried to ask after a moment of observing the blonde.
"I don't want to talk about it," Meredith said quickly, sending her a look that clearly said that she wasn't ready for it just yet. Addison had spent months, especially the last few weeks learning how to read Meredith, since Susan's sudden and unfortunate death and Derek's attack on her, the blonde has been taking more time pondering about things that upset her before talking to her or her therapist Dr. Wyatt. So, yeah, Addison understood that she needed time and nodded at her before talking about something else.
"So, Erica Hann will be Burke's replacement," Addison smiled at her, tempting her with gossip. Meredith sighed and smiled appreciatively. "I can't believe he is leaving,"
"He got a great offer, he'd be a fool not to," Addison shrugged. "He wants to take Cristina with him, though,"
"Oh? I thought they ended things," Meredith leaned in with interest. Cristina and her had been
talking the last two weeks, but about anything but Derek and Burke, so she didn't know what Addison was telling her.
"They did, but he recognizes her potential and wants to exploit it,"
"But I'm not going," Cristina said, approaching them, clearly hearing the last of their conversation. "If I go, I'll never get out of his shadow and can you imagine me, me , a shadow of someone?" She sat and began eating her bagel.
"You couldn't be, you're obnoxiously bright," Meredith smirked. "Like LED lights when you're hungover," she joked, making Cristina fight a smile, she really missed her person.
"Bitch," Cristina muttered. "George talked to you?" She asked, and Addison tensed up a bit as she turned to Meredith.
"About him being my intern, or about my long-lost half sister?" Meredith arched an eyebrow at her. "My life is a cosmic joke," she murmured bitterly.
"Tell me about it," Cristina murmured back, they fell silent, but after a look between the two they fell into a fit of giggles and snorts. Addison didn't understand why they were laughing, but she didn't care, Cristina was a good influence on the blonde. "You saw the new resident scrubs? They are a lot better than the intern ones,"
"Yeah, at least now people will be able to tell us apart, did you see the class that arrived? They look like kids," Meredith gushed over her friend.
"You were the perfect 12-year-old, too," Addison commented as she bit her muffin. "Ow!" She laughed when Meredith smacked her arm playfully.
"You'll pay for that later," Meredith growled and Addison had to cross her legs at that, Meredith was so sexy, and she knows exactly how to make Addison pay for her snarky comments.
"Good God, you finally did it," Cristina smirked. "The sexual tension between you two was unbearable,"
"Not true," Addison and Meredith protested.
"Ask anyone who has seen you two together, there was a lot of tension. If I had known that all it took was to send you away to Hawaii, I'd booked you a vacation earlier," Meredith blushed and struck her tongue at her friend.
"See! Perfect 12-year-old," Addison laughed.
"Hmm I'll see you later, Cristina, my girlfriend needs a spanking," Meredith stood, taking Addison with her as she started walking away from the table. Cristina laughed and yelled, 'that's kinky'.
"Are you really going to spank me?" Addison whispered against her ear as they walked through the hospital halls.
"Yes, but tonight... right now, I just want..." Meredith stopped in front of the redhead. She took a step back as her hands came to rest on the taller woman's hips. "You look gorgeous, by the way," Meredith grinned. Addison was wearing a beautiful black skirt that reached below the knees and was tight against her body, on top she was wearing a blue satin blouse with the two top buttons unbuttoned and allowing Meredith to see the outline of her lacy underwear. "I just wanted a moment alone with you before we have to face the world," she murmured, opening the door to an on-call room on the first floor.
"C'mere," Addison brought her close as fell onto a bed against the wall, kicking her heels under the bed. "I love you," Addison murmured against her hair as she passed an arm under her head and over her shoulders to bring her to her chest. "So much," she added when Meredith hugged her hips with one of her clothed legs. The blonde had opted for a pair of blue straight fit jeans and a navy blue knitted sweater.
"I love you too, baby," Meredith muttered against her neck. Meredith almost felt tempted to nap for a bit, but the position was too familiar to ignore.
Hawaii, a week ago
"What are you thinking about?" Addison asked as she nuzzled into the crook of Meredith's neck. Meredith threaded her fingers in the long soft red like fire strands of hair. The redhead moaned
softly at the pressure of very skilled fingers on her scalp. "I'm thinking about you," the blonde breathed into the starry and cold night.
"About me? You have a sky full of stars just above you, and you're thinking about me?" Addison asked, turning onto her back and looking up.
The sight of the twinkle of the stars above them was obscured by Meredith's as she moved above her. Her blonde locks cascading over each side of her face, tickling Addison's cheeks.
Meredith smiled widely, bright and lovely, down at Addison. The redhead was a bit taken aback by how bright that smile was, it was raw with emotions, emotions that she had never seen in anyone who was looking at her, not Derek, not Mark. Not anyone, so yeah, Addison was just a little taken aback and felt tears pricking her eyes.
"Under a sky full of beautiful stars, I'd rather look at you, Addison Montgomery,"
Meredith leaned down and pressed a kiss to the tip of her nose, soft and slow, tender like if any more pressure would break her. Then she moved her lips to her cheek bones, the fluttering of Addison's eyelashes feather touching Meredith's face, even more so as the blonde moved to kiss her eyelids, her hot lips not leaving any patch of skin unattended.
"Meredith," She whispered as the blonde resident's breath ghosted her lips. A moan drowned in Meredith's lips when she finally kissed her lips.
"Addison, I love you," she broke the kiss to breathe. "I love you and if you let me... I'm going to make love to you under the stars," she panted, moving to be fully on top of Addison, making space to be between her legs.
"Are you sure?" The redhead didn't even mind that she sounded so desperate for a positive answer. She raised her hands and rested them on the small of Meredith's back, caressing the milky skin under the light fabric of her blouse.
Meredith pulled away, supporting her weight with her elbows at each side of Addison's head. She looked down and Addison looked up, the redhead noticed that the blonde's skin was flushed, but it was unclear if it was because of the time they spent under the sun earlier or because of the arousal coursing through her body.
"I want this, I want you," Meredith whispered. "Do you want me, Addie?" She asked.
"I want you," the redhead nodded as she rolled them over, straddling Meredith's hips. "I want you and I love you, always," she leaned down to kiss her jaw, her neck, her exposed collarbones while the blonde squirmed under her. "You're the most gorgeous woman on earth," she commented as she began raising Meredith's light shirt and took in how beautiful she looked with the moonlight shining on her skin.
"Says you," the blonde protested weakly as Addison's fingers began teasing her sides, just underneath the hem of her bikini top. A gasp escaped from her lips when those skilled fingers grazed the length of Meredith's chest scar, which was pink and shiny.
"You're so beautiful," Addison assured her, knowing the blonde was feeling really insecure about her new scars. "So stunning," Addison whispered as she leaned down and pressed a hot kiss on the upper end of her chest scars and began descending until she met the other end. By the time she finished, Meredith was panting like she had run a marathon.
"Addie," Meredith whined, tangling her fingers with red locks as she raised her head from the blanket they had thrown over the sand and saw the amazing contrast between her creamy skin and Addison's blood-red hair, sprawled all over her chest. "Addie, please,"
"Just a second, princess, I'm enjoying this," Addison murmured as she began kissing lower and lower, biting and nibbling the poking hip bones, kissing with the same care the smaller scar on Meredith's belly, where just a few days ago she had opened to fix the tear in her cervix. "I want you to never forget tonight,"
"I would never," Meredith stated with conviction. "Well, unless I get Alzheimer's, then you'll have to keep giving me unforgettable nights for the rest of your life," she chuckled, making Addison snort against her skin.
"You're terrible," Addison laughed as she went up looking for Meredith's lips again. "And I love you like that," she pecked her lips before trailing kisses to her jaw and neck.
"Can I take this off?" The blonde panted as she hooked her fingers underneath the top of Addison's black bikini, grazing her fingers against the redhead's nipples.
"Yeah... please," Addison begged under her breath as her eyes fluttered closed. Meredith sat with
Addison on her lap and began kissing her chest, collarbones, and shoulders as her hands released the knot of Addison's top and let the fabric fall away on the white sand. The sounds of waves crashing against the shore, enveloping them in a bubble filled with love and adoration.
"You are so beautiful," Meredith whispered as she cupped her girlfriend's breasts with shaking hands. She was completely enraptured by her beauty, yet she was nervous. They had been dating for months, and she couldn't believe this was the first time they were doing this; Meredith felt like she was about to lose her virginity to Addison, like a teenager about to lose her virginity... she was nervous. "I'm so..."
"Nervous?" Addison completed with a nod. "Me too," she breathed out. "Do you want to stop?" Addison asked, cupping her face, she was trying not to think about her hands on her breasts.
"No," Meredith shook her head. "Do you?"
"No," The redhead shook her head and leaned down to kiss her lips as she also undid the knot of Meredith's top, and soon the piece of clothing joined hers on the sand. "Lay back," the taller woman nudged her playfully until Meredith was with her back against the blanket. Addison looked down at her, her naked torso looked inviting, small boobs perked and round, with rosy nipples in the middle. Silky skin, freckles over her sternum, dusting her ribs. "I'm going to take this off, yeah?" Addison asked, toying with the hem of Meredith's bikini bottom.
Meredith nodded eagerly and buckled her hips up to help the redhead take them off.
"God, you're beautiful," she gushed once she finally had her naked in front of her. The blonde fought so hard not to cover herself under Addison's gaze, she was a bit uncomfortable but also very horny. "Don't be so impatient," Addison chuckled lightly as she knelt between Meredith's open legs, hungrily watching her.
"I thought... I thought I was making love to you," the blonde whimpered. "We have all night for that," she leaned over her body and kissed her lips.
"All night," Meredith nodded excitedly with a nervous laugh that turned into a desperate moan when Addison's fingers traced a path down her abdomen, stopping just above her, she needed it. "Addie," she whimpered, buckling her hips a bit. "Please..."
"What do you need?" Addison asked, hovering over her, her lips caressing her jaw.
"I need you... just touch me," Meredith hoarse out, squirming a bit. "Please," she pleaded.
"Just because you asked nicely," Addison smiled and pulled her into a searing kiss as her fingers dipped between slick folds.
"Oh," Meredith moaned softly against her lips.
"What are you thinking about?" Addison's voice snapped her out of her memories.
Meredith raised her head and moved to straddle her hips.
"What are you doing?" The redhead smiled as she looked up at the smiling blonde.
"I'm thinking about you," Meredith whispered as leaned down and brushed Addison's lips with hers.
"Princess," Addison breathed against her mouth, and Meredith practically melted against her body. "We can't, you need to get on with rounds,"
"I hate working," Meredith groaned, falling on her back next to the attending. "I'm already missing our little adventure, when you're not my boss and I don't have to boss interns around,"
"You haven't even bossed them around yet, except for O'Malley... and you love me being your boss and teacher," Addison leaned and captured her earlobe between her teeth, Meredith shivered against her. "We have to get going," she pulled away and stood.
"Now I really hate this job," Meredith groaned again, but she stood up with her.
"Now you don't," Addison bent her knees and kissed the tip of her nose before pecking her lips. "
Come on, go get dressed in your new scrubs, and I'll see you around,"
"Fine," she grumbled grumpily. "See you for lunch?" She asked as they walked down the hall towards the residents' locker room.
"Sure. Text me. I love you," she kissed her cheek before walking away.
"Love you too," Meredith called before disappearing to the locker room, where the rest of her friends were already getting dressed.
"Dude, these scrubs are amazing," Meredith heard Alex say. She observed him watching himself in the mirror, modeling the new cobalt blue scrubs, they were basically the same as the other ones but in a darker shade, a shade that would make them all look more professional.
"Hi Mer, how are you?" Izzie asked as soon as she laid eyes on her.
"As well as I can be," she smiled tightly as she went to a free locker and shoved her bag in, her hand was absently rubbing her chest—Cristina noticed but didn't say anything. "How was your vacation, guys?" Meredith asked as she began to take her clothes off. She was wearing her black undershirt under the sweater because she was still not comfortable being naked around people; she took off her jeans, leaving her in a pair of black boxers, and she quickly put on the scrub pants, taking a seat at a bench and tying her shoes.
"I went to Iowa," Alex shrugged. Meredith knew that Alex had had a difficult childhood, and going back to see his mom was something difficult.
"I got some shifts in the ER at Seattle Press," Cristina said.
"I went to see my mom," Izzie told them. "Have you seen George? He'll be late for rounds," she worried, glancing at the door.
"He didn't tell you," Meredith and Cristina turned to Izzie with shock. They figured if George was going to say anything to anyone it would be to Izzie, after all they were in love or something.
"Tell me what?" Izzie asked with a frown.
"He failed his intern exam, he's back as a repeater," Cristina told her.
"What?" She asked in shock and Alex snorted softly, Meredith shot him a look just as their pagers went off.
"Look Barbie, we know it's sad, and you're affected, but we don't have time to hold your hand, none of us want to start our first day as residents the wrong way, so pull yourself together and let's go," Cristina said harshly but in a comforting and understanding way that was so unlike her. Alex and Meredith looked at her in shock for a moment before Izzie nodded, and they were on their way to the interns' locker room, where their interns were.
As they arrived and divided the interns between them— George was with Meredith and Lexie with Cristina— they carried on with the tour delivering their speeches, unknown to them, they were all giving the same speech: Bailey's speech, hoping they will be the new Nazi (mostly Alex and Cristina who wanted to be respected and feared).
"I'll add an extra rule for you all," Meredith started once they finished the tour around the hospital. " It's more like advice of a sort," she continued. "I know we are all doctors and have little to no social life but try not to sleep with your coworkers, it's messy," Meredith sighed, feeling a bit like a hypocrite remembering where her tongue was just that morning before they started their day. " This will be a difficult year for all of you without the drama that would bring," the blonde avoided George a pitiful look, and gladly they were paged to pit as they had three incoming traumas.
As Bailey and her got the second ambulance, she almost sighed in relief at the look of the pregnant woman, that would mean that she would probably see her girlfriend if there was something going on with the baby.
"Make space," Meredith barked at the interns that were in their way.
"Meredith, can we talk?" Lexie Grey stood in front of Meredith, blocking her way in.
"I'm busy," she snapped, trying to get past her, only to be stopped again.
"I just want to get to know you," Lexie protested. "I know you don't have a good relationship with
my dad, but..."
"Alexandra, get out of the way, this is not the time nor the place," Meredith glared down at her. " Behave like a doctor and let me attend this patient or go home," she moved around her as she and Bailey rolled the gurney in the ER and then into a trauma room.
"Nice job handling that intern, Dr. Grey," Bailey smiled proudly at her as they began checking the severed arm of the pregnant patient they were treating.
"Thank you,"
"Please, tell me if my baby is okay," the woman —Nancy, as Meredith asked her— pleaded.
"Alright, I'll check on your baby, Nancy, but I need you to stay as relaxed as possible. Your stress will just stress your baby," Meredith rested a hand on Nancy's leg and squeezed it lightly. " We'll do everything we can to help you, okay?" Nancy looked into her eyes, looking for comfort and when she found that the blonde was being sincere, she nodded and took a deep breath. " I'm going to put this fetal monitor on you, this will help us check the baby's heartbeat and see if there's anything wrong," Meredith strapped the monitor to her belly and walked Nancy through the whole process, distracting her just enough for Bailey to continue checking on her.
Miranda observed her with proud and impressed eyes as she continued checking the mother.
"The baby is okay, Nancy, there's nothing to worry about," she told her slowly once Bailey told her that she had a clean cut on her arm and that they only needed to find her arm to see if it was viable for reattachment. "I'll go look for your arm, and you'll be fine," she assured her before turning to Miranda, asking to be excused, to which Miranda nodded.
"I like her," Nancy said once Meredith left the room. "She seems to be good at what she does," "She is," Miranda confirmed. "She's been learning a lot from one of our OB attendings,"
Meredith then went to look for the arm, calling the paramedics at the scene of the crash and neighbor hospitals to see if the arm ended up there.
"Good morning, Dr. Grey," Amelia Shepherd approached the nurse station where Meredith was on hold with Seattle Press.
"Good morning, Dr. Shepherd," Meredith offered the young Shepherd a shy smile.
"I see you are back, are you feeling better?" Amelia asked with concern and despite her reservations towards the sister of the man that almost killed her, Amelia had shown to be trustworthy and nothing like Derek, so Meredith had allowed her to get close— mostly by Addison's sake, they were like sisters.
"It's getting better," she lied through her teeth as her hand absently rubbed her chest again, it's been hurting, but it wasn't enough for the blonde to be worried, the gesture didn't go unnoticed by the brunette, but decided that this was not the place or the time to bring it up. "How are you?"
And as Amelia was about to reply, Lexie Grey approached her again with doe eyes and a weak smile. "Meredith, I wanted to apologize for blocking you in the entrance, I just wanted to..."
The blonde cut her off with a hard glare. "Stop apologizing, just stay out of the way in the entrance," Meredith snapped.
"But I just want to..." Lexie tried again.
"Stop talking!" The blonde spat. "Is there anything you need besides bothering me?"
Lexie lowered her eyes to the floor. "I was wondering if you know where Dr. Shepherd, Dr. Yang paged him to the Pit for a consultation and asked me to come find him," she finally said.
"This is Dr. Shepherd," Meredith gestured to Amelia, who smiled tightly at the young brunette. "Amelia Shepherd," the neurosurgeon nodded at her.
"Oh, I was-um, excuse me, I know this is weird, but any relation to Derek Shepherd? I read that he was working here, and I thought-" Amelia eyed Meredith with concern at the mention of her brother, but the blonde was purposely ignoring it.
"Don't know him," Amelia shook her head, she didn't want to be related to that poor excuse of a man. "Do you need a Neuro consult?"
"You're a neurosurgeon?" Lexie asked. "Never heard of you," she commented. Amelia's jaw clenched at the comment.
"I don't think Dr. Yang's patient cares if you heard of me or not," she snapped. "Show me where this patient is," she ordered and Lexie sprang into action leading her away.
A few calls and an hour later, a blonde and young firefighter came running in with a cooler.
"Hi, I was at the car crash site downtown. I found this arm and was told the patient was here," she placed the cooler in front of Meredith.
"Oh, thank God," Meredith sighed with relief. "It's a female arm?" She asked as she opened the cooler to take a look.
"Well, unless the patient is a male that wears nail polish, I think it's from a woman," the firefighter laughed nervously, Meredith thought that she was probably new at her job.
"Well, thank you..." Meredith trailed off to allow her to say her name. "Maya Bishop," she gave her a toothy grin.
"Thank you, Maya Bishop, you helped save this woman's arm," Meredith closed the cooler and rounded the desk.
"Just doing my job, ma'am," the blonde blushed.
"No ma'am. It's Meredith Grey," the blonde doctor smiled before waving at her and walking away. Once she arrived in the room Nancy was in, she paged Dr. Sloan to check the arm.
"I must say that at least the female interns this year are hot," Mark commented as he was checking the blood flow of the arm. "Especially Lexie," Meredith fumed for a moment before taking a step back and wondering why she cared, it's not like she felt like protecting her half sister.
"Dr. Sloan, is she going to get her arm back?" She asked, ignoring what he had said.
"Yes, she's lucky. Page Torres and Montgomery, we're taking her to the OR right now," he ordered and Meredith did so... gladly.
"How did you find the arm?" Callie asked as she was scrubbing her hands to get in surgery.
"I had to make a lot of calls, finally dispatch called that a firefighter was on their way with an arm they found," Meredith told her and Addison as the three of them were scrubbing in. Addison had to bully Mark to let Meredith assist, since she found the arm.
"So a hot, masculine fireman came running with an arm in a bag, cool!" Callie laughed. "Callie, you're married," Addison reminded her.
"So what? That I'm married doesn't mean that I don't have eyes or that I don't enjoy watching a uniformed man saving the day," the chief resident shrugged. "Are you gonna tell me you don't do the same?"
"I like doctors," Meredith piped in. "In pink scrubs specifically," she smiled flirtatiously at Addison, who was indeed wearing her salmon pink scrubs.
"You're whipped," Callie deadpanned.
"Shut up, Callie," Addison snapped playfully.
"Fine, I won't bother your girlfriend," Callie grumbled in the same manner. "But you gotta tell me how hot this fireman was and how cool it was to see the arm in a bag," she gushed as they stepped into the OR. Addison walked around to check the baby's monitor, while Mark and Callie prepared the area they were going to use. Meredith stayed behind, watching but not getting in the way.
"It wasn't in a bag, it was in a cooler, and it wasn't a fireman, it was a female firefighter... very pretty, by the way," Meredith replied as her eyes watched every move Mark was doing with the nerves of Nancy's arm.
Addison and Callie shared a silent look.
"Very pretty, huh?" Mark called from his place. "Are you into girls, Grey? That's hot," he smirked, or at least Meredith thought he did because of the mischievous twinkle in his eyes.
"For someone who likes gossip like you, Dr. Sloan, you're not on top of the latest news at Seattle Grace," Meredith commented absently, her eyes never leaving Mark's hands or Callie's as the Ortho resident joined in.
"What do you mean?" He asked.
"I'm not only into women, I'm dating one," Meredith replied with a neutral tone, but she raised her eyes to share a quick affectionate look with Addison.
"Oh dish," Mark almost squealed in delight. Addison and Callie rolled their eyes at him. "Is it someone I know?" Meredith raised her eyes again at Addison, wondering if he should know. He is one of Addison's best friends, but he was also very much interested in getting in the redhead's pants. Addison shrugged slightly, letting her know that it was up to her, Meredith nodded but didn't reply to Mark's question, instead she asked one.
"Do you think Nancy will get full mobility of her arm?" She asked. "Her baby will be born soon and she's all alone,"
"Yes, a few weeks of PT will be enough," Mark nodded. "Tell you what," he straightened his back to look at her. "I'll let you finish this nerve connection and restore blood flow if you tell me who you're dating," Meredith's eyes widened and quickly sought Addison's.
"Mark, stop trading surgeries for gossip," Addison scolded him like he was a child.
"But I want to know," he whined petulantly. "Come on, Grey," he turned to Meredith again. "Mark," Callie tried to warn him.
"It's me," Addison snapped at him. "We are dating, now can you stop being so gossipy and teach her how to reattach the goddamn arm?" she ordered. Mark was too stunned to speak or even move for a moment, in his head everything that happened with Derek and Meredith was starting to make sense. He cleared his throat and motioned her to get close.
He softly instructed her on how to make the nerve ends meet each other and how to check their response, Meredith is good at following instructions and asks the right questions, so Mark was very pleased with her work.
"It's getting pink," Meredith murmured in delight.
"Yeah," Mark whispered. "Good job, Grey," he squinted his eyes at her in a sincere smile. "I'm sorry about earlier... is that why Der... he did that to you?" He asked in a soft tone, so soft and low in volume that even Meredith who was next to him had a hard time hearing him. The blonde nodded slightly. "I'm sorry,"
"Thanks for letting me assist," Meredith nodded at him before stepping away and out of the OR to scrub out. The surgery was almost over, and she didn't want to be in such an enclosed place anymore, so she asked to be excused.
"Great job, Mark!" Addison said sarcastically.
"I'm sorry, okay, I didn't know," Mark raised her hands in surrender. "I'm sorry,"
"Just stop to think before you talk, alright?" The redhead sighed as she continued monitoring the baby's vitals and Callie finished reattaching the arm.
A few hours later, Addison managed to track down her girlfriend. While they were finishing the replantation of the limb, Nancy Walters started having contractions, and they had to delivered her baby, with the assistance of George O'Malley, who Meredith sent up to cover for her in the rest of the surgery, so Addison got caught up with that and when she finished, O'Malley told her that Meredith had gone to Dr. Wyatt for a emergency session.
"She didn't look exactly okay," George told the worried redhead. "But she's been worse and the fact that she is looking for a shrink instead of a bottle of tequila tells you that she'll be okay,"
After asking around for the whereabouts of her girlfriend, a nurse finally told her that she had seen the resident in the basement hallway, where Addison knows that she and her friends usually hang out or nap on the abandoned gurneys. Meredith was napping on a gurney down the hall, barely illuminated by the lights outside the window, Addison walked down slowly, the clicking of her heels echoing around. She sat down next to her, observing how tight was the fetal position she was curled in. Whenever the blonde needed comforting and Addison was not exactly around or available to cuddle her, she would assume this position and make herself feel better.
"Mer," Addison called out softly as she placed a tentative hand on the blonde's hip. Meredith jerked away as she woke up and looked around with panicked eyes. "Baby, it's me," she whispered, like she always does when Meredith wakes up like this.
"Hi," Meredith rasped out as she cautiously moved into the neonatal surgeon's embrace.
"Hey princess," Addison murmured with her lips against her hair. Her hand began caressing her scalp softly. "Are you okay?" Meredith hesitated before nodding against her shoulder.
"Never thought the first day after that would've been easy," Meredith breathed shakily. " Although, Lexie matching here was a surprise,"
"Did she approach you again after this morning?" Addison asked.
"Yeah, and managed to piss Amelia off by telling her that she had never heard of her and asking for Derek like a groupie," Meredith snorted.
"What do you think of her?"
Meredith shrugged. "She's a nice kid, but I don't want more drama in my life right now,"
"That's okay, and perfectly understandable. You don't have to get along with all your relatives, not even the closest ones, I am not speaking terms with Bizzy or the Captain, so..."
"Do you ever wish..." Meredith sighed morosely against her. "Do you ever wish things were different... with our parents?"
"Sometimes," Addison confessed. "But everything that had happened to me and to you has made us the extraordinary people we are today,"
"You're extraordinary," Meredith agreed.
"So are you, baby," Addison replied. "Have you eaten?" She asked a while later. They were supposed to get together for lunch, but that was hours ago and Meredith had been busy in the Pit while Addison had been in surgery with one of her patients.
"No, you?" Meredith pulled away to look at her girlfriend. The taller doctor was still wearing scrubs, but she was wearing blue navy ones instead of the pink ones, they must have gotten dirty during surgery.
"Not yet, come on, let's go find something to eat," Addison patted Meredith's thigh before standing up.
"I'm not hungry," the blonde muttered, but stood up anyway.
"We could get hot dogs," the redhead smiled, trying to get her to eat something. Since her stay in the hospital after the attack, Meredith has been eating less, and she was considerably skinnier, and she was already skinny, so Addison was worried about it. "You never say no to hot dogs," she reminded her.
"That's true, I never say no to hot dogs," the blonde murmured pensively. "But I'm not really that
hungry... I could eat just one,"
"One hot dog is enough," Addison assured her, and they walked out of the hospital.
Chapter 3
Nightmares, secrets and repressed memories plague Meredith. Addison isn't sure about what she should do, but Alex helps her.
Chapter Notes
Hope you like it.
You're just like your mother.
An eerie and deep voice startled Meredith in her dream. She looked around and found nothing but darkness. She took a deep breath and tried to find something to ground her, anything... but she couldn't see, hear, feel or even smell anything, she felt like floating in the darkness.
You're nothing but a fucking whore.
The voice said again with a dangerously low chuckle. Meredith felt the hammering of her heart against her sternum, it was loud and painful, like her thorax was squishing all her organs, leaving her breathless.
I should've let you die.
The voice continued, and the darkness started fading away, leaving soft trails of light from the streetlights outside her room. She could see the outline of her furniture, the door, and as she turned to her side she could see the outline of Addison's body. The redhead was laying on her side with her back to Meredith, blood-red locks falling behind her on the pillow.
"Did you have another nightmare?" Addison's voice broke the deafening silence in the room. Her voice sounded strange, low and far away, like underwater, but Meredith's brain thought it was probably because she was asleep just a moment ago.
"Yes, I'm sorry I woke you up," Meredith breathed as she tried to normalize her breathing and heartbeat. She laid down again on her back and stared at the moldings of her ceiling. "Addie, can you hug me?" She pleaded in a soft and broken voice.
"Do you want me to hug you? With my arms around your body?" Addison asked back. Meredith hummed her affirmative, not stopping to think why Addison was acting strangely. "Don't you want my hands around your neck, squeezing and squeezing until you stop breathing, instead?" That question finally registered in Meredith's brain as strange and creepy. She opened her eyes and turned to Addison, who was still giving her her back. "Tell me sweetie," Her voice grew deeper and deeper, and Meredith panicked as Addison's body started turning around. "Do you want me to kill you?" Addison morphed into Derek, and then into Thatcher, by the time she was finally facing the other body.
"Daddy, no, please," Meredith cried under her breath. "It hurts,"
"I could kill you, you know, to finish your sloppy job," He pounced on her, straddling her hips and wrapping his hands around her throat while his elbows pressed down on her chest, making it even more difficult to breathe.
Meredith's eyes filled with tears as she tried to scream, she was thrashing around trying to use her legs to push Derek/Thatcher's —it kept morphing back and forth between them— body away, to get him off her, but they were heavier and stronger than her.
"You're going to die, bitch!" He growled mockingly as he continued to squeeze.
"Meredith, for fuck's sake, wake up!" Addison yelled desperately as she shook her awake. Meredith did wake up with a huge inhale of air that sent her into a fit of dry coughs. The blonde shoved the body that was next to her away and she fell to the floor. The thud sounded painful, but Meredith was on high alert, and she couldn't feel anything, she kept crawling back until her back hit the wall in the corner of the room, trapped between the wall and the drawers.
"Daddy, please don't," Meredith wailed in fear. "Derek, stop!" The redhead was confused beyond belief, was she dreaming of Derek, or Thatcher? And what did Thatcher do to her to make her this scared?
"Mer, it's me, Addison," The redhead knelt on the floor in front of her and tried to approach her.
"No! No! DON'T COME ANY CLOSER!" The blonde yelled and tried to back away even more.
"Okay, okay," Addison backed away a bit. "I'll stay here," She assured her, sitting down with her back against the bed. "But I need you to calm down, sweetie,"
"Don't call me that!" She growled as she shed more tears.
" Alright, I'm sorry!" Addison said quickly. "Meredith, I need you to breath," "I'm breathing!" Meredith yelled desperately.
"I know babe, but I need you to breathe slower, and deeper," Addison's voice was nothing like it was in her dream moments ago, it was soothing, and compassionate, but Meredith couldn't trust it, could she? "Breathe with me," the redhead instructed. Meredith shook her head and curled around herself, bringing her knees tight to her chest.
"No, no, no, no!" Meredith chanted with desperation. "Mommy! Please save me!" Meredith called. Meredith called for Ellis like a child who was in danger, even her voice sounder childlike, a whimper.
Addison stopped at that, unsure on how to help her girlfriend. Meredith was still trapped in whatever nightmare she was having, not remembering that Ellis had passed away, or that Thatcher abandoned her. Age regression, she remembered from her psych rotation. She tried to remember anything she learned that could help her, but her mind was coming up blank.
Stay calm, Montgomery, she doesn't need your panic on top of hers. "Mer..." she called softly.
"Here," Alex said as he opened their bedroom door and passed her an ice pack. "Put it on the back of her neck, this will help her snap out of it,"
Addison took the ice pack and regarded the bleary-eyed resident, he was wearing only his pajama bottoms, and was barefoot, he must have heard Meredith screaming and came to help.
"Thank you," she said as she crawled closer to Meredith, placing the ice pack on the back of her neck. The blonde snapped her head up and looked at her with wide and fearful eyes. "Meredith, you're safe," Addison whispered. "You're having a panic attack, you'll be fine,"
"Addie?" Meredith whimpered painfully. "Yes, love, it's me," the taller woman smiled.
"There was someone in the room," she whispered in fear and looked around warily. "Derek... my dad,"
"They are not here, baby," Addison assured her. "It's just you, Alex and me," She gestured towards Alex behind her, the male resident was sitting on the bed, watching them, ready to help if needed. Meredith set her eyes on Alex and quickly glanced back at Addison, that's when she noticed it.
"You're hurt," Meredith set her eyes on the cut and the bruise on Addison's left cheekbone. The redhead frowned and turned in the direction of the full length mirror, observing the small cut and the bruise surrounding it. Meredith must have hit her while Addison was struggling to wake her up, she didn't even feel it. "I did that! Oh my god, I did that to you," Meredith cried, spiraling into panic again, she started breathing rapidly and her dry tears were renewed as she withdrew herself from Addison. "I'm so sorry, baby, please, I'm so sorry, I didn't mean to... hurt you," she sobbed sorrowfully, hiding her face between her knees. "I'm sorry," she continued to apologize.
Addison turned to Alex in panic, she already placed the ice pack on her, she didn't know what to do. Alex sprang into action, gesturing to the redhead to slowly and gently hug her. Addison nodded and scooted closer to her, circling the blonde's lean body with careful arms.
Alex began shushing softly, encouraging Addison to do the same. She began shushing closer to her ear while patting the center of her back, gently. Addison could do this, the shush pat is a common technique to calm babies and babies are the one thing she knows how to deal with.
"Shh, baby, everything will be okay," Addison whispered as she began rocking her. "It's okay, you're safe," Meredith began calming down at that, she rested her body weight against Addison and the redhead supported herself with her back against the drawers. "It's okay, baby, I love you.
You're safe," Addison kept whispering as the blonde started to breathe evenly.
"Do you want me to clean that cut?" Alex whispered, his voice rumbling through his chest without sounding threatening.
"No, not now," Addison shook her head.
"Yes, yes now," Meredith mumbled against her chest before pulling away. "I'll get the first aid kit," She stood clumsily and helped Addison do the same. "Alex, can I bother you with something?" she turned to the brunet. Alex nodded, standing up.
"How can I help?" He asked.
"Can you get us some tea, please?" She asked, cleaning her face with trembling fingers.
"On it," He nodded, happy to have something other to do than just observe and wait. He hastily made his way out of the room.
"Sit on the bed," Meredith instructed as she started walking towards the ensuite bathroom.
"Baby, you don't have to do that," Addison tried to stop her, Meredith stopped closing her eyes and clenching her jaw.
"Let me do this for you, okay? I'm not ready to deal with anything else, right now," Meredith breathed.
Addison nodded. "Okay, Mer," Meredith nodded and went into the bathroom to take the first aid kit back into the bedroom.
"This is going to sting," Meredith warned her, bringing an alcohol swab closer to her face. Addison smiled adoringly as her hands came to rest on Meredith's hips while the blonde stood between her legs.
"It's okay, princess," Addison closed her eyes and waited for Meredith to clean the cut.
"I'm sorry," she murmured when Addison hissed softly in pain. "Do you want pink, blue or red plasters?" Meredith asked, showing her all the colors she had available in her kit.
"Hmm," The redhead eyed the plasters pensively. "Pink," She finally said, looking up at Meredith with a sweet and almost childish smile. Meredith couldn't help but mirror the smile as she leaned down and kissed her lips, softly, chastely but full of love.
"I see that we are better," Alex said, interrupting their moment. He was standing in the doorway with two cups of steaming tea in his hands and was wearing a gray shirt now, but still barefoot.
"Thank you, Alex," Meredith smiled as she placed two small pink plasters on Addison's cut and applied some bruising salve before closing the kit and putting it on the nightstand. "For everything," She added, grabbing the cups from Alex's hands and looking at him with sincere eyes.
"Anytime, Mer," He gave her a sideways smile. "I'm off to bed, yell if you need something," He nodded at both of them before leaving. Addison thanked him as he was leaving.
"Come here," Addison called, taking a sip from her tea before setting it on the nightstand. "I'm so proud of you, baby, and I love you," Addison hugged her waist, pressing soft kisses on her clothed abdomen.
"I'm sorry I hurt you, I love you too," Meredith pressed a kiss on top of Addison's head.
"It wasn't your fault, dear," Addison raised her head and rested her chin under Meredith's boobs. "How did I get so lucky to find such a gorgeous and strong woman like you?" Addison wondered, making the blonde blush.
"I think I'm the one who's lucky to have you, you don't have to be here dealing with all this, getting hurt in the process... yet here you are," Meredith smiled down at her.
"Yet here I am, and gladly," The redhead watching her with unconditional love and adoration, brought new tears to her eyes. "No, baby, don't cry,"
"Sorry, you're just making me feel all mushy and emotional," Meredith chuckled, cleaning her tears and stepping away reluctantly. "Do you want to go back to sleep?"
The taller doctor shook her head slightly. "What do you want to do? Do you want to go to sleep? Take a shower? A bath?"
"I'd like to talk if you... don't mind," Meredith grabbed her mug and sat next to Addison, nursing the tea, the heat was distracting her from the cold from the nightmare that still chilled her bones.
"Of course, whatever you need," Addison said and waited for the blonde to talk. Waited and waited and waited, she waited as long as necessary, and eventually the blonde spoke.
"Today... during my session with Dr. Wyatt... we, um, we have been talking about the nightmares... one nightmare in particular," she choked on a sob.
Addison rested a hand on her thigh. "You don't have to tell me if you don't want to..."
"I want to... just bear with me, I don't know how to tell you," Meredith intoned shakily. "After what happened, I've been having all sorts of nightmares. Mostly about the attack, but I've been dreaming about people I know, trust and love hurting me, taking Derek's place..."
"Oh baby," She leaned in to press a kiss to the side of her head. She kept her lips pressed against her to comfort her, but otherwise kept silent.
"There was one that kept repeating, and it was driving me nuts... it was Thatcher, he was hurting me just the way Derek did but something about it felt different. His voice sounded familiar, like I've heard him calling me sweetie, telling me that I'm just like my mother and that since she was not there, I... I should..." Addison hugged her tight to her chest as Meredith broke down crying, again. "It was so vivid and disturbing so... Dr. Wyatt proposed an exercise, some sort of hypnosis to recover repressed memories," she continued without leaving her place in Addison's arms until she took a deep breath and pulled away. "Addie, I think my father abused me when I was little," Both of them shed heavy silent tears once those words left the blonde's lips.
"I'm sorry baby, I'm sorry you went through that, I'm sorry that your mother was not there to protect you and that your own father hurt you," The taller doctor peppered loving kisses to her face. "What did Katharine say about that? Do we need a lawyer or call the police?" Addison asked
as she pulled away.
Meredith shook her head and sighed. "Repressed memories are not reliable, they aren't even admissible in court... There's nothing to do about it, other than deal with it. She says that because of the attack, the memories that my brain tried so hard to block had resurfaced,"
"Ugh, I really hate your dad," Addison uttered. "And your mom,"
"You and me both," Meredith chuckled, cleaning her tears. "I'm sorry for being such a mess," She mumbled.
"You're not, baby, and you have nothing to apologize for," Addison pecked her lips. "I'm tired," Meredith groaned as they finished their tea in silence.
"Let's go to sleep," Addison suggested. "We don't have work tomorrow, well today," "I'd like a shower first, these clothes are all sweaty,"
"Okay, let me take you there," Addison nodded and helped her into the bathroom and while the blonde was in the shower she got her new and dry clothes. When she returned to the bedroom and saw the mess of the bedding, everything came back to her... Addison allowed herself to cry, to mourn for her girlfriend's peace, because she knew she had a long way ahead.

Chapter Notes
Now that I think about it, it seems that Meredith gets no rest from all the bad things that happen to her... I promise I'm not trying break her beyond belief, it's that I have specific scenes in mind for these things.
I hope you like it.
"What? Why are you laughing? It's not funny," Addison pouted when Meredith burst out laughing.
"It's... so funny," Meredith wheezed but tried to calm down for her girlfriend's sake. "Alright, I'll stop, but just because you're so cute when you're jealous," Meredith pinched her chin and brought her close to kiss her lips. The redhead returned the kiss reluctantly. "You have nothing to worry about, I'm most definitely not after Erica Hann,"
"Then what were you doing in her office?" The redhead asked, crossing her arms over her chest and pouting some more. Meredith was distracted by how beautiful and delicious Addison's naked
boobs looked resting over her crossed arms. "Meredith!" She snapped.
"Sorry, sorry..." the blonde returned her eyes to Addison's face. Her hair was disheveled from their make out session in which the redhead lost her scrub top and bra. "I got distracted. I was in for a consult," Meredith sighed.
"Consults are usually in the patient room," Addison raised a perfectly manicured eyebrow at her. "I am the patient," Meredith grumbled.
Addison's whole demeanor changed at that. "Are you okay?"
"I guess so, I've been having some pain on my chest and abdomen since we came back and—" Meredith started.
"Why didn't you tell me?" Addison asked.
"It wasn't so bad, baby, it was mostly annoying but not worrying... but these last few days it's gotten worse,"
"How much worse?" Addison rested her hands on Meredith's hips, caressing the milky skin above her the waistband of her scrub pants, Meredith had also lost her scrub top and undershirt, although that was more difficult.
"From a 4 to a 6, almost to a 7," Meredith said after a thought. "You should've told me," Addison's face fell.
"I'm sorry, I really didn't want you to worry even more about me. You're already concerned enough," Meredith guided Addison's head to her chest, she dropped a kiss on top of her head and caressed the length of her hair.
"I'll always worry about you," Addison sighed. "I love you," "I love you too, honey," Meredith murmured.
"So what did Erica say?" Addison pulled back and raised her head to look at Meredith who was still straddling her lap on one of the on-call room beds.
"She scheduled an EKG, blood tests, ultrasound and an echo to see if it's heart failure or cardiogenic shock," Meredith told her. "Although, she believes it's anxiety, and IBS,"
"IBS? What do your bowels have to do with a pain in your chest?" The neonatal frowned.
"She believes they are getting too swollen that they are pushing up my heart, causing pain,"
"Well, I guess that makes sense," Addison sighed. "When are your tests?"
"They are already done, I'm just waiting for her to page me with the results,"
"Do you want me to go with you?" Addison pressed a kiss on Meredith's collarbones, just at the top end of her chest scar.
"If you're not busy, yes," Meredith gasped at the sensation of her lips on her skin.
"I'm never busy for you," Addison popped Meredith's perky nipple in her mouth, dragging a low moan from the blonde.
"Good, now can you get back at telling me how you're going to make me scream your name?" Meredith said impatiently just as her pager went off. "Noo," she whined childishly.
Addison's laugh tickled her skin before she pulled away, Meredith pouted feeling abandoned. "Don't pout, you know we didn't have much time,"
"And whose fault is that?" Meredith grumbled grumpily.
"Well, you should've told me you were having pain so I wouldn't get jealous of you being in another woman's office for God knows how long," Addison argued playfully. "Come on, stop pouting, I'll fuck you into the next week later, when we are at home," the redhead patted her butt and the blonde left her lap to go grab her shirt and scrub top from the floor where Addison had thrown it in the heat of their make out session.
"Fine," Meredith muttered as she took a look at her pager. It was a generic page, nothing that required her anywhere. "I wasn't even needed," Meredith groaned, already dressed laying on her back next to Addison where she was still struggling with her bra. "Here, let me help," the blonde sat up and helped her with the brooch. "You're so pretty," she kissed her shoulder.
"Want us to cuddle a bit more?" Addison whispered as she cupped her cheek.
"Yes," Meredith smiled as Addison leaned down on her back, forgoing her scrub top and bringing Meredith's head to her chest. "I love your boobs, they are so beautiful and squishy," she murmured, pressing kisses on her chest.
"Princess," Addison moaned pleasantly, enjoying her girlfriend's attention.
"I love when you call me princess," Meredith purred as she moved up and kissed the patch of skin under her ear.
"What else do you like me calling you?" The redhead asked, remembering how shaken up was Meredith when she called her 'sweetie'.
"Hmm," the blonde continued, kissing her jawline. "I love baby, babe, love..." she enunciated with a kiss on each pet's name. "Darling, hmm, I loveeee that one," she giggled against her neck when Addison's hand began caressing her sides with slender fingers. "Princess is my favorite, but I also love when you say my name," she cheekily said, kissing the corner of her mouth. "What about you? What's your favorite?"
"Hmm," Addison thought pensively but was interrupted by a knock on the door, followed by a rattle of the doorknob. "Think if we ignore it, they'll go away?"
"I doubt it," Meredith sighed as she turned towards the door. "Meredith?" Lexie said behind the door.
"Told you," the blonde groaned as she sat up and waited until the redhead was wearing her scrub top again before opening the door. Lexie has been eyeing Addison with weird eyes all morning since Cristina was on the redhead's service with a cardio case on a pregnant patient, and she didn't like it. Guess, Meredith was also jealous. "Yes, Dr. Grey?" She asked, startling the brunette.
"I... Dr. Hann told me to tell you that your results were back and that she wants you in her office in 15 minutes," she stammered a bit.
"Thank you," Meredith nodded dismissing her. "Also, have you seen Dr. Montgomery?" She asked.
"Depends, what do you need?" Meredith leaned against the doorway, blocking Lexie's view inside the room.
"Um... Dr. Yang wanted me to tell her that the EKG is back,"
"Thank you, Dr. Grey," Addison opened the door a bit more to let Lexie see her, the brunette's eyes widened, realizing that they were locked in an on-call room together. "See you in Hann's office in 15, okay?" The attending pressed a quick kiss to her cheek.
Meredith nodded with a goofy smile and saw her leave. "Are you guys dating?" Lexie asked in shock.
"That's none of your business, Dr. Grey," Meredith said coldly. It still felt weird to call another person with her last name.
"I told you, I just want to get to know you better," Lexie protested following Meredith down the hall. "Especially as we are working together,"
"And I told you I'm not interested, and anyway, I thought you were mad at me for the intubation I made you do yesterday," Meredith continued walking without sparing her a glance. Her hand came to rub her chest absently, the pain was bothering her a bit.
"I was... but I don't want to give up on you... you're my sister and I've always had this fantasy of having an older sister, someone to confide in and things..." Lexie added with a wistful smile. "You're a nice person and I don't know what I did to you but we have the same father," Meredith snorted.
"No, we don't. When I was 5, my father abandoned me and..." Meredith shook her head trying to forget about what she remembers her dad doing to her. "He abandoned me, and I never saw him
again, that's not the father you grew up with," Meredith turned to Lexie with tiredness in her eyes. "I have a complicated life because of what he did, I've slept with men who only wanted to screw me because I was lacking the attention my father and my mother didn't give me, I am finally getting my life together and I don't want the drama that getting to know you will bring... because Lexie," the blonde used her nickname for the first time since they met in the coffee cart. "You are a package, I can't let you in my life without letting him in..." she added softly, rubbing her chest a bit stronger, it was starting to hurt more by the minute. "You are a nice person, I know because your mother was an angel, but you're not someone I'd ever want to get to know," Meredith took a deep breath and left a teary eyed intern behind.
Meredith knocked on Erica Hann's door at the agreed time and waited for the blonde cardio surgeon to open the door.
"Hi, sorry I'm late," Addison came running g just in time to hear Erica saying 'come in' from inside.
"I'm glad you're here," Meredith whispered sincerely, opening the door. "Ah, Dr. Grey... and Dr. Montgomery," Hann said as a greeting of sorts.
"Dr. Hann, I hope you don't mind, I thought my partner should be present for this," Meredith smiled a bit tightly, she didn't want more people to know that they were dating; not because she was ashamed of Addison, she just wanted a bit of privacy. "After all, she's the one that will ensure I'm taking care of myself," she rolled her eyes playfully at the redhead.
"Of course," the cardio doctor gestured to them to sit on the other side of the desk as she sat down in her chair. "It's actually a good thing to have you here, Dr. Montgomery, I saw something in the ultrasound and blood work that it's out of my area of expertise,"
"Oh?" Addison worried.
"We'll get to that, in a moment," she murmured as she was looking at exams in front of her. "Well, it's anxiety and consequently, IBS. The bowels are pressing up on the heart because of your stress, which causes pain on the chest. We need to be more careful about managing your stress levels because of your recent myocardial contusion, we also need to keep an eye on your pressure as it's a
bit high and your slightly abnormal heartbeat.
If your heart continues to be pushed against your ribs and sternum, you're at risk of a cardiogenic shock or heart failure," Erica took her time to show them the abnormalities in the EKG. Echo and the ultrasound. "Now, this is what I hope Dr. Montgomery helps me confirm," the blonde cardio doctor passed the ultrasound and labs to the redhead.
Addison checked it once, twice and thrice before she turned to Erica with a nod, telling her that she was correct and that she wanted to tell her girlfriend.
"Addie, what is it?" Meredith asked a bit panicked when the redhead turned to her and grabbed her hand.
"Princess," Addison started, not caring that they weren't exactly in private. "You have an ectopic pregnancy," Addison observed how the pain flashed through her eyes and how her hand unconsciously rested on her belly.
"I... he got me pregnant?!" Meredith gasped and then sobbed against her hand. Addison was instantly out of her chair and kneeling in front of Meredith.
"I'm so sorry, baby," the redhead cupped her girlfriend's cheek.
Meredith shed a few silent tears but eventually pulled away to accept the tissue Dr. Hann was offering her and cleaned her face.
"Okay, so what now?" Meredith's cold voice worried Addison but understood that she was shutting herself off for the time being.
Hann turned to Addison at that, she was unsure about proceeding if Meredith still needed a moment, but Addison nodded at her to continue.
"Well,um, I see that you're seeing Dr. Wyatt, so continue doing that to reduce your stress levels... you need to change to a low sodium diet and you need exercise, cardio mostly. If you're not able to go to a gym, running will be enough," Erica wrote on her pad the instructions. "Also, these are medicines to keep your blood pressure down and I'd like to schedule another EKG in a month. If you have a pressure cuff, I'd like for you to check your pressure every day until the EKG. If you
don't have one, you can take it here in the hospital, I just want you to keep track of it,"
"I have one," Meredith nodded, Addison frowned trying to remember if she ever saw the contents of Meredith's first aid kit. "And a wrist tracker," Meredith remembered.
"That's perfect," Hann smiled slightly. "If you need anything or have any questions, you can come to me or... Well, to Yang... I'll deny it if you tell her but she's an excellent cardio resident so... she can answer your questions," the comment made Meredith smile.
"Thank you, Dr. Hann," Meredith nodded.
"As for the..." Addison trailed off, making a vague gesture with her hand towards Meredith's lower area. "It's early so we can proceed with meds,"
"That's okay," she nodded just as she got a page to the pit. "I have to go," Meredith leaned down to press a kiss to Addison's lips before helping her stand up. "See you later. Thank you Dr. Hann," she called over her shoulder as she stepped out of the office and practically ran to the ER.
"Dr. Hann, thank you," Addison turned to the blonde. "It was a pleasure," she nodded.
"Could you perhaps keep our relationship a secret?" The redhead asked. "People that needs to know, they know... but we are trying to stay away from the rumor mill,"
"Don't worry about it," Erica nodded.
"Thank you," Addison walked out of the office with a smile. As she was walking down to the OB department, she shot a text to Meredith telling her to meet her once she was ready and had the time. The blonde asked if Cristina could be there for her, to which Addison replied that it was
preferable.
-
"Can I talk to you?" Meredith asked her best friend as they were riding the elevator once they finished helping in the pit.
"Sure," Cristina said nonchalantly. "I'm pregnant," Meredith blurted out.
"What?" Cristina yelled as she pressed the emergency button to stop the elevator. "What do you mean you're pregnant? That bastard got you pregnant?" She turned to Meredith.
The blonde nodded.
"What are you going to do? Addison knows?" She asked bewildered.
Meredith took a deep breath, blinking her tears away. "It's an ectopic pregnancy, I have to terminate. Addison knows, and Hann,"
"Oh, Mer," Cristina, unsure how to console her, rested a comforting hand on her shoulder. "Wait, why does Hann know?"
"I- I've been having this chest pain since we came back, and before you go all crazy on me, it wasn't worrying until a few days ago," Meredith shot her a look and Cristina looked positively subdued. "So I went to Hann for a consultation, and she ran a few scans and tests and determined that it was anxiety and IBS..."
"So, your bowels are pushing up your heart," Cristina nodded in understanding.
"Exactly, the ultrasound showed that the egg fertilized in one of my Fallopian tubes. It's early so, Addison says that with meds I'll be fine,"
"Will you? Be fine, I mean," Cristina asked worriedly.
"Physically, yes... mentally, I don't know, Cristina," Meredith admitted truthfully.
"I'll be here, and Addison will too, we are here for you, Mer," Cristina then pulled her into a hug. They stayed like that for a little while, just Cristina comforting her best friend, her person, as the blonde cried softly against her shoulder.
"I want you and Bailey there, if you don't mind," Meredith said, pulling away and restarting their ride on the elevator.
"Of course, whatever you need," Cristina nodded. "Do you want me to tell Bailey and meet you at OB?
"Yes, please," Meredith nodded. "15 minutes?"
"We'll be there," Cristina nodded as they went into different directions as the elevator opened its doors.
"Miranda, what are you doing here?" Addison asked as she stepped into the exam room where Meredith and Cristina were supposed to be waiting for her, though they weren't in sight. "Where's Mer and Cristina?"
"Meredith asked me to be here, for her... and for you," Miranda replied softly. "They are in the bathroom," she gestured towards the closed door at the end of the room. "Meredith couldn't stop crying but Yang is there with her,"
"Oh..." Addison closed the door behind her and took a deep breath before looking at Miranda again.
"Are you okay?" The short woman asked. "Yes, just worried.." she smiled tightly.
"Are you sure? Know that is okay to be affected by all this," Miranda rested a comforting hand on her elbow.
"Is it?" Addison asked back. "This is not happening to me, it's happening to her," she huffed.
"You are her girlfriend, her partner, her companion... this is happening to you too and you're allowed to be affected about this," Miranda remarked.
"I just don't... does it make me selfish?" Addison asked fearfully.
"It makes you human," Miranda smiled sadly just as Meredith and Cristina stepped out of the bathroom. The blonde had red puffy eyes and nose but the crying seemed to be over, at least for now.
"Hey," Meredith tiptoed to peck Addison's lips.
"Hey," Addison smiled softly. "Are you okay? Ready?" The redhead smoothed her messy hair and caressed her cheek with her thumb.
Meredith took a deep breath. "Let's get this over with," she pulled away and hopped on the exam table.
"Alright," Addison went to the cabinets to take out a new needle and a miniscule bottle of medicine. "Alright, I'm going to inject you with..." the redhead was preparing the dose as she was speaking.
"Methotrexate, anti-cancer drug," Meredith completed as she hopped down and turned around. "On the buttocks," she continued as she lowered the waistband of her scrub pants and white panties.
"Someone's been reading my books?" Addison joked lightly.
"They are laying around in the room, I get curious," Meredith shrugged with a shy smile.
"Alright, Dr. Grey, what's the recommended dose?" Addison stood behind her and started cleaning the area with a cotton ball with alcohol.
Meredith paused to think. "1.0 mg/kg or 50 mg/m2 i.m without folinic acid, according to my height and weight," she replied with confidence. Addison smiled knowing that her plan was working, she wanted to keep her distracted from the actual procedure, and Miranda and Cristina caught on really quick.
"Side effects?" Miranda asked.
"Tiredness, abdominal cramping, nausea and/or vomiting for 24 hours, upset stomach, decreased appetite, diarrhea, mouth ulcers, headaches and trouble sleeping," Meredith recited, grabbing Cristina and Miranda's hand with each of her own.
"Follow up?" Cristina inquired. The young resident was not interested in OB but she knew a lot and wanted to help her friend, so yeah, she was quizing her.
"Day 4, day 7 and then every 7 days, HCG blood work until the pregnancy tests come back negative," Meredith replied hissing softly when Addison stuck the needle in her flesh. "A warning next time will be appreciated," she grunted, pulling up her pants.
"So you can get all nervous about the needle? I don't think so, princess," she smirked and leaned in to press a kiss to her cheek when the blonde turned around. "You did great,"
"Yeah, you can join the vagina squad now," Cristina joked, bumping her shoulder with Meredith's.
"Take the rest of the day and week off," Miranda told her with a seriously-don't-fight-me look on her face.
"No, it's fine, that's not necessary," Meredith protested. She knew she would need the days off but she didn't want to be at home alone with her thoughts.
"Just take the days off, Grey," the tiny resident commanded. "Addison will accompany you. I'll clear it with the chief," Miranda nodded at Addison.
"Fine," Meredith agreed reluctantly.
"Go leave instructions to your interns, and pick up your things," Addison instructed. "I'll ask the other OBs to monitor my patients and meet you in the lobby at 20?" Meredith nodded. "Fine, I'll see you in a bit, love you,"
"Love you too," Meredith pecked her lips before stepping out with Cristina.
"Call if you need me," Miranda pulled her into a hug when the redhead sat on a chair nearby.
"I should be saying that," Addison chuckled as she shed a few tears, tears she had been holding since they were in Hann's office.
"I mean it, call if you need anything," Miranda insisted. "Thank you, Miranda,"

Chapter Notes
So, when I started writing this I was rewatching GA but for this part I was watching Private Practice, and I got so many ideas hahah I really hope you like it
Pages ruffling every minute and a half. Slow breathing. Hot tongue wetting the tip of her finger to pass the page as her eyes move quickly behind her red rimmed glasses perched on top of her pointy nose, as she absorbs the story unraveling before her eyes.
Meredith doesn't recognize the title or the author, but that's to be expected, she doesn't read the same kind of books Addison does. The redhead preferred more imaginative stories, stories about worlds that should have existed, that are yet to be invented.
And the blonde enjoys watching her read, how her eyebrows shot up almost to her hairline, surprised by the twists of events, how her lips curl when she sympathizes with the characters and how her eyebrows knit themselves together, her finger traces a word and her mouth tries its pronunciation silently.
Meredith Grey loves how delicate and elegant Addison Adrianne Forbes Montgomery looks when she is laying down in the bed, with her back slightly propped against the headboard, with her long legs, one bent and the other one across the length of the mattress. Slender, porcelain, velvety fingers holding the weight of a heavy book. Unholy body, sometimes covered only by a set of black panties and a silk robe that's always slightly open, inviting Meredith to ravish her, other times she'd wear a pair of white cotton panties with a shirt she would steal from Meredith's drawer, too tight and too short... too sexy—
"Excuse me?" Addison's voice interrupted her worship.
"What?" Meredith snapped out of it. She was laying next to Addison but with her head at the foot
of the bed, resting her head on a scrunched pillow.
"You've been staring at me for an hour, and then you whispered 'too sexy'," Addison continued with her eyes on her book, but the amusement could be heard in her voice and seen in the slight curl of her lips.
"What do you do in the presence of such a piece of art?" Meredith whispered, caressing Addison's leg with the back of her hand.
"It would be weird if you whisper 'too sexy' to the Mona Lisa, you know?" The redhead turned to raise an eyebrow at her.
"You're not the Mona Lisa, though. You're something else, something more," The blonde moved up and rested her head on Addison's abdomen. The redhead let go of the book to thread her fingers in Meredith's blonde locks. "Continue reading," Meredith encouraged her. "I'll just stay here," she murmured against her belly.
Addison went back to her reading with one hand, while the other one continued massaging Meredith's scalp.
"Let's go on a date," Meredith whispered after a while. The statement took Addison off guard, so she turned down moving her book out of the way to see Meredith properly.
"What?" Addison asked with a frown.
"Let's go on a date, like a teenager date. Let's go to the movies, then let's park the car somewhere and stay the night out until the sunrise," Meredith proposed, sitting up next to Addison, facing her with a childish smile.
"Babe, we are not teenagers anymore, we'll be asleep by 10 pm," Addison grinned. "Plus, I'm content being here with you, you don't need to woo me, I'm already yours,"
"There I disagree," Meredith smirked.
"What? With the 'I'm yours' part?" Addison cocked an amused eyebrow at her.
"No, the part where you said that I don't need to woo you anymore," Meredith pouted slightly. "Ten, twenty years from now, when we are married and old, I'll still want to take you on dates. You deserve to be taken on dates every week, you deserve to get flowers for no reason and I plan on being the one, the only one, wooing you,"
"Married?" Addison's eyebrows shot up in surprise. "You wanna get married?"
"To you, yes, eventually," Meredith confessed with a nervous smile. Addison was having a hard time processing what she just learned, Meredith Grey wanted to marry her. "Addie, we don't have to," the blonde added, taking the redhead's silence the wrong way. "It's not even legal now, we don't have to if you don't want to,"
"I want to," Addison found herself saying with sincerity. "I really want to marry you, some day," she beamed at her.
"Oh, good," Meredith beamed as she sighed in relief. "So, date?" Meredith wiggled her eyebrows at her.
"Now?" Addison wondered.
"In an hour, I'll make arrangements and you go get ready," Meredith stood and began rummaging around the room getting things from the closet, blankets and spare pillows.
"What do you need blankets and pillows for?" Addison asked as she stood near the closet watching her girlfriend go around following a mental list.
Meredith turned to her with a mischievous twinkle in her eyes and a bright beam. "You're going to love it,"
"Alright," Addison giggled. She doesn't get surprised anymore, Meredith makes her giggle like a teenager in love. "What should I wear? What will you wear?" She asked, following her to the bed where Meredith was packing everything in a duffle bag.
"Wear something comfortable, and warm," she turned leaning in to kiss her lips quickly. "I'll wear jeans and my navy sweater, possibly with a coat on,"
"Alright," Addison nodded approvingly. "I love you, thank you,"
"No need to thank me, babe," Meredith grinned. "Go, go get ready," Addison beamed before disappearing in the bathroom, excited for this impromptu date that Meredith had proposed.
"Let me pay for the food at least," Addison begged her girlfriend playfully as they walked towards the food stand.
"No, no, it's my treat," Meredith shook her head with a smile. Her hair falling beautifully around her face, like golden waterfalls framing her face. The blonde in the end decided to wear a pair of black jeans, a pair of black combat boots and a red knitted sweater, she looked delightful, young... free, happy. "What do you want to eat?" Meredith brought her back to the present as they were advancing in line. The blonde sneaked a hand behind Addison and hugged her waist as Addison hugged her shoulders.
"Hmm," Addison turned to a list of options. "Hot dogs?"
"That's what I'll be getting for me, what do you want?" Meredith giggled.
"Nachos? Popcorn? I don't know, it's been a while since I've come to the movies," Addison was getting just a little overwhelmed with so many options, the last time she had gone to the movies she was engaged to Derek and the neurosurgeon was in surgery so he sent Mark in his place. Mark urged her to get caramel popcorn and she didn't like it.
"Hey, what can I get you pretty ladies?" The clerk, a beautiful black man, smiled kindly at them.
"A hot dog, medium popcorn and a serving of nachos," Meredith ordered, deciding that if Addison couldn't decide between popcorn and nachos, she could have both. "And two large sodas and a pack of m 's,"
"Popcorn: salty, buttered or caramel?" The clerk, Tim, asked.
"Salty?" Meredith turned towards the redhead. Addison nodded. "Salty, please," Meredith repeated to Tim.
"Alright, coming right up," he smiled as he started placing the order. "Can I say that you are very pretty?" He turned to Addison with a smile. The blonde raised her eyebrows in surprise and saw how her girlfriend blushed furiously.
"T-thank you," the redhead stammered.
"Sorry, I didn't want to make you uncomfortable," he apologized quickly. "Oh no, you didn't," Addison quickly said.
"She is one of those women who are breathtaking and don't know it, they walk around like nothing is happening but they leave a trail of broken hearts on their path," Meredith added, giving Addison a look of pure adoration and desire, to which the redhead's cheek matched her hair.
"I guess it takes one to know one," Tim said with a smile.
"Excuse me?" Meredith frowned, turning to him.
"You're also breathtaking, you're like straight out of a People's cover,"
"Oh!" It was Meredith's turn to blush, much to Addison's enjoyment. "Thank you," "Here's your order," Tim smiled, passing them their orders and wishing them a good time.
"A movie, trashy food and an ego boost? This is turning out to be a good date," Addison smirked as they walked towards their seats.
"I never disappoint," Meredith smiled, allowing the redhead first in the row. "You never do," the redhead leaned over her to kiss her lips.
"Dykes!" A male voice called from a few rows behind them, following by sniggering. A group of frat boys were sitting there observing them with various reactions: disgust, lechery, shock.
"I should've chosen a romantic movie," Meredith growled, balling her hands into fists.
"We love horror movies, and it's almost Halloween, babe," Addison reminded her. "Don't mind them, don't let it go to your head," Addison rested her head on her shoulder, nuzzling her jaw affectionately.
"Fine," Meredith sighed and tried to ignore it. It worked during the whole movie, once it ended Meredith had enough.
"Jamie Lee Curtis is such a babe," Addison commented, looping Meredith's arm on hers as they were walking out of the cinema.
"I know, right," Meredith gushed happily. "Although, I liked her hair shorter and—"
"Hey mamis, give us a show and kiss," the group from earlier walked down the corridor surrounding them.
"Yeah, come on, give her a kiss," a blonde tall guy nudged Meredith on the shoulder.
"Please, leave us alone," Meredith sighed, pulling Addison a bit closer to her, which in another circumstance would have been funny because Addison was taller than her.
"Oh, don't be so uptight," the same guy snickered.
"Maybe they just need some encouragement," another guy closer to Addison walked up to them and tried to rub his groin into the redhead. Meredith moved Addison out of the way as she shoved
him away, or at least tried because Meredith was a minion compared to that guy, they probably played basketball or football.
"Oh that's cute," he laughed mockingly. "Come on, give her a kiss,"
"Look, I know this seems funny to you but we just want to go, leave us alone," Addison snapped at them, trying to get past them, but they closed the circle around them. "Fine, you want a kiss?" Addison growled and grabbed Meredith's face pecking her lips. "There, now let us go,"
"Hmm, I kinda want them to do it again," a taller and broader brunet guy shrugged with a devilish smile.
"Bradley!" Someone outside the circle barked. "I called the police on you, again!" The group dispersed a bit, it allowed Meredith and Addison to see that it was Tim coming to their rescue.
"Seems like Timmy save your dyke asses this time," Bradley, who seemed to be the blonde guy, smirked down at them. "Buzzkill!" He shoved Tim with his shoulder as they passed them.
"Are you guys okay?" Tim asked, approaching them. "The police should be here any minute,"
"Yeah, thank you," Addison exhaled forcefully.
"I'm glad I was able to shoo them away, those guys are always giving us trouble," Tim scratched the back of her head. "Are you okay, blonde?" He turned to Meredith who was absently rubbing her chest.
"Baby, are you okay?" The redhead moved closer to her.
"Yeah, I'm fine," Meredith lied with a smile. Addison decided not to push and Tim guided them inside where it was warm while they waited for the police to arrive.
"Let's go home, babe," Addison proposed as they walked out of the cinema an hour and a half later.
"What about the rest of our date?" Meredith pouted.
"It's been great, despite..." she made a vague gesture with her hand as they walked to Meredith's car in the parking lot. "You know, but I'm kind of tired and so are you," Addison pressed a kiss to the side of her head. "We can do the rest later,"
"Okay," the blonde sighed. "I'm sorry about what happened,"
"It's not your fault, princess," the redhead doctor opened the passenger door for her. "What do you say if we..." Addison crouched a bit as Meredith got in the car. "Have a bath when we get home?" She proposed with a purr.
"That sounds great," Meredith smiled as she kissed her lips. "I love you,"
"And I love you," Addison closed the door and went to the driver's side to start their journey home.
"I bought new bath salts that we can use," the blonde breathed as she stepped out of the car after the redhead.
"The lavender scented ones?" Addison almost squealed in delight, she loved the lavender ones, they are soothing and it's Meredith's signature smell.
"And the cinnamon ones," Meredith beamed at her as they reached the door, which was opened. "I didn't let the door open, did I?" The blonde tried not to panic.
"No, I closed it," Addison frowned. "Wait, there could be someone inside," Addison hissed when the blonde came to open it more.
"It must be Izzie, or Alex," Meredith shrugged walking inside with her girlfriend following her.
"They wouldn't leave the door open, would they?" The neonatal doctor asked as they went inside, whispering and making themselves as silent as possible.
"No, but we never—" Meredith started to answer as she turn on the light and found two naked people having sex or about to in her living room. "Jesus!" Meredith yelled startling the unknown couple and Addison in the process.
"Archer? Naomi?" Addison roared as he recognized the couple.
"Addison!" Yelped Naomi.
"Addie!" Smirked Archer.
"Get fucking dressed!" Addison commanded as she turned away not wanting to see her best friend and brother naked.
"Your brother Archer? And your best friend Naomi?" Quaked Meredith also turning away.
"Regretfully!" Addison trembled with rage. "Mer, this is Archer and Naomi," Addison gestured between them but didn't turn around until it was safe to look. "Nai, Archer, this is Meredith, my girlfriend,"
"You're dating the dirty mistress?!" Archer marveled while Naomi was struggling to get dressed while he was doing it as well but at a sedate pace. "Derek's Meredith?" Archer asked and Naomi slapped his arm and hissed at him to shut up.
"I'm gonna get us drinks," Meredith stated disappearing in the kitchen.
"Don't say his name in this house," Addison snapped angrily. "What are you doing here? And why did you break in?"
"You have a lousy alarm system," Archer shrugged as he was buttoning his shirt and told Addison she could turn around.
"I was coming to surprise you, I asked Amelia where you lived, and I found him at the door already trying his way in," Naomi explained with a nervous laugh.
"And what? You decided to sleep with him?" Addison huffed as she took a seat on the couch next to the one they were using.
"You weren't home," Arche shrugged and Naomi mirrored his gesture.
"You're adults!" The redhead raised her voice. "I shouldn't be around for you to behave,"
"Babe, where did you put the scotch?" Meredith called from the kitchen. Addison stopped to think where she had put it before standing up and going to the kitchen as she remembered that she placed it on a shelf that Meredith couldn't reach.
"Coming," Addison stepped into the kitchen. "Sorry, princess, I forgot to put it back down as I was organizing the cabinets," Addison pressed a kiss to her head as she leaned up to bring the scotch bottle down.
"It's okay," Meredith sighed tiredly.
"Do you want me to kick them out?" Addison joked, helping her with the glasses.
"It's okay. It's your brother and best friend," Meredith caressed her hip above the waistband of her blue jeans and under her green turtleneck sweater.
"And I'm pissed at them already," the redhead pouted.
"Don't pout," Meredith begged her. "It makes me feel things that are not appropriate when we have company,"
"More reasons to kick them out," Addison argued and pouted a little more.
"Stop," Meredith laughed and nudged her into the living room where Archer and Naomi were kissing the hell out of each other, again.
"Could you stop it?!" Addison fumed.
"Sorry," Naomi at least had the decency to look guilty.
"The Balvenie," Arched read the label out loud. "Not a wine girl anymore?" He asked his sister with a raised eyebrow.
"It's actually Meredith's collection, she has these rare whiskey and tequila bottles in the basement," Addison smiled as she invited the blonde to sit on her lap. She didn't want her to sit across from her on the other individual couch and of course she didn't want her close to Archer.
"But she's not drinking," Naomi pointed out and if Addison could kill with her looks...
"I'm still healing from a major surgery, I can't drink alcohol for the next two weeks at least," Meredith said squirming until she got into a better position with her butt on the part of the couch next to Addison and her legs over her girlfriend's lap; that way she wasn't exactly on top of her redhead and still could face their guests. "Are you guys in town for long?" She asked leaning slightly into Addison, with a coke can in her hand.
"No, my publisher suckered me into attending his winter launch party, they parade new authors and their books to foreign buyers and agents," Archer sipped from his tumbler of scotch and eyed Meredith's clad legs with a mischievous glint in his eyes, the blonde squirmed closer to Addison when she noticed it. "He needed some star power, so I figured it would give me an opportunity to come see you and get drunk," he finished cheerfully.
"See, babe, Archer used to be a world-class neurologist, but he now makes his living telling tales about his most disturbing patients," Addison smiled at Meredith. "But he's here really to spy on me for Bizzy," she shot a pointed look at Archer, who looked away.
"Bizzy?" Meredith asked confused, why would her mother be interested in her life now when she never was when Addison was little?
"God forbid she should let her kids define her identity by calling her 'mother', " Archer chuckled dryly. "She is not happy with you. You divorced Derek and left New York," Meredith tensed a bit at the sound of the neurosurgeon's name. "She thought you'd come back home, to civilization,"
"Connecticut is not civilization and it's definitely not home," Addison snapped.
"Well, you know how she is..." he shrugged nonchalantly. "And just wait until I tell her that a Forbes Montgomery is dating a woman who happens to be your ex-husband dirty mistress,"
"Archer, shut your mouth already before I punch you," Addison pressed her fingers to her nose trying to keep the headache at bay.
"I meant no offense, really," he raised his hands in surrender. "At least you're not dating another cop,"
"You dated a cop?" Meredith asked amused.
"We went out on a few dates, and he wasn't a cop, he was SWAT," Addison clarified with a nervous chuckle.
"He was a cop when you met him, he became SWAT just a little before you started dating," Naomi pointed out with a smirk, Meredith laughed.
"He was hot?" Meredith asked with pure curiosity.
"He was but I think LA makes everyone hot," Addison pondered.
"Tequila makes everyone porny, in my opinion," Meredith shrugged and Addison took a moment to think about how easy it is to talk to Meredith about everything, especially her past. The blonde is a great listener, an amazing conversationalist and she never judges or tries to fix things that aren't hers to fix.
"Where are you staying?" Asked Addison a while later, they were chatting easily, sharing some stories, catching up and laughing but it was getting late, she was tired and Meredith was already dozing off with her head on her shoulder.
"Well, here, with you," Archer said as it was the most obvious thing.
"Well," Addison turned slightly to Meredith who had her eyes closed but was awake. Meredith nodded against her shoulder. "We have an empty room, Nai can take it and you can stay here," she turned to Archer who was about to protest. "You didn't call in advance so I could accommodate you, and we are not the only ones living here,"
"You rent this place with roommates?" Naomi asked in surprise.
"This is Meredith's late mom's house, when Meredith moved here, she decided to get roommates— other residents from Meredith's class," the redhead explained. "We have another room but it's mainly for storage, we can clean it out for you, but tomorrow," she said firmly at Archer.
"Well, Naomi and I could share the one you have ready," he smirked, sending a suggestive look at the dark skinned woman.
"Oh no, you will not be sharing with Nai," Addison pointed at him with her finger.
"They were already fucking, Addie, they are going to continue doing it if that's what they want, whether you want it or not," Meredith yawned as she pulled away from her shoulder and stood up. "But," she continued as she held onto the back of the couch, she got a bit dizzy. "This is your house as well, if you don't want them sharing they should respect that..." she shot them a firm look before turning towards Addison. "I'm going to..." she breathed out heavily.
"Princess, are you okay?" Addison was instantly on her feet and next to her girlfriend with a hand on the small of her back.
"Just stood too quickly," Meredith breathed out. "I'm going to bed, pleasure to meet you," she pulled away from the couch and Addison and started walking towards the stairs.
"Stay here. I'll take her upstairs," Addison commanded their guests. The redhead was quick to catch up with Meredith because the blonde had stopped at the end of the stairs to catch her breath. "Hey, dizzy?" The redhead stood next to her and the blonde nodded hastily. "Do you want to throw up?"
"No... I just feel tired and lightheaded," Meredith sighed.
"Lemme take you upstairs," she passed an arm behind her back grabbing her waist.
"I'm a bit weak in the knees," Meredith admitted when the redhead urged her to walk.
"That's okay," the neonatal surgeon leaned down to lift her legs to carry her bridal style. "I can carry you,"
"How are you so strong?" Meredith wondered with a smile. She would have protested if she had the strength to.
"You're light as a feather, that's not my fault," Addison laughed as she started going up the stairs with Meredith in her arms.
The blonde nuzzled her nose in the crook of Addison's neck and allowed her to take her to the bedroom, where she laid her down under the covers.
"Do you need something? Water or something?" Addison asked as she sat down next to her and rubbed her shoulder as the blonde got comfortable.
"No, no, I'm okay, just don't take long, okay?" Meredith whispered, holding her hand.
"Okay. I'll be back soon," Addison leaned down and pressed a kiss to her cheek before dimming the lights and going downstairs. "Well, Meredith was right, you were going to continue whatever you were doing whether I wanted it or not," Addison crossed her arms over her chest and leaned against one of the pillars. Naomi and Archer were kissing each other but pulled away from each other when Addison spoke.
"Addison, I—" Naomi tried.
"Save your breath, Nai... I don't want to deal with this right now," Addison sighed heavily. "I'm happy you both are here, but this is weird and I don't want to talk about it, so... let's go, I'll show you to your room," Addison started walking towards the stairs and Archer and Naomi were quick to follow her. "This is your room, and the one at the end of the hall is ours, the door in front of ours is the bathroom— lock the door when you use it because Alex and Izzie often walk in if it's not locked, and they don't care about it. Speaking of Alex and Izzie, the other residents, don't sleep with them or anyone other than yourselves, I don't want any drama," Addison warned them. "Everything you may need is in the closet,"
"Thanks Addison, and I'm sorry we came without warning," Naomi hugged her. "Let's have breakfast tomorrow, my treat," Archer smiled charmingly.
"Sure, after the night you gave me, you better treat me good," Addison smiled and kissed her brother's cheek before leaving them alone. "Hey, what are you doing?" She asked as she stepped into the room and Meredith was out of bed and inside their closet.
"I'm just trying to change into pajamas," Meredith huffed frustrated. She was having a hard time getting out of her jeans.
"Come here, I'll help," Addison brought her back to the bed and made her sit at the edge. "Arms up," she instructed and Meredith complied easily, Addison took her sweater and shirt off, leaving her in only her pale pink bra. "You're so pretty," Addison leaned in to press a kiss on her shoulder as her hands worked the clasp of her bra and took it off. "What do you wanna wear?"
"I don't know, something loose and fresh," Meredith whispered tiredly, she was barely conscious at this point.
"Okay," she went to her drawers and got an old dark blue Yale shirt and helped Meredith get it on. "Lift your hips a bit," Addison asked and once Meredith did she could take off her jeans and panties, she then helped her get in a pair of loose black shorts, Meredith prefers forgoing her panties during the night.
"Addie?" Meredith called her name when the redhead knelt to put a pair of fluffy socks on her
feet.
"Hmm?" Addison turned to look at her with a soft and tired smile.
"Are you okay?" She cupped her cheek with her hand.
"It's been an eventful night," Addison sighed and leaned against her touch, nodding slightly.
"I'm sorry, we should've stayed in. I shouldn't have dragged you out, look at everything that happened at the movies alone," Meredith rubbed her eyes with her knuckles, she didn't want to cry but she was full of hormones and tired.
"Princess, you don't need to apologize for anything. What happened at the movies was not your fault and you couldn't have predicted it," Addison pulled her hands away from her face. "The rest would have happened sooner or later. Our tonight's date was one of my favorite ones, I don't want you to apologize for that," Addison kissed her fingers softly.
"C'mere," Meredith pulled her up and guided her until the redhead was straddling her lap. "You're an amazing girlfriend, you know?" Meredith smiled and leaned up to capture her lips in hers. "And I love you... I'm here if you want to talk about... you know, your brother and best friend fucking down the hall," Meredith chuckled when the redhead groaned and closed her eyes. "Fine, fine! We don't have to talk about it, but I'm here if you want to,"
"You know what I want," Addison looked down at her with a mischievous twinkle in her eyes.
"I think I have an idea," Meredith bit her lower lip as her hands caressed her ass, her hips and her thumbs edged closer to the button of her jeans.
"I didn't have that in mind, remember that you still can't have sex," Addison laughed a little breathy.
"I can't have sex, but that doesn't mean you have to suffer for it, or is it bad for my health to pleasure my beautiful, hot, and sexy girlfriend?" Meredith ran a finger over Addison's clothed core.
"No, I supposed not," Addison gulped, enjoying just a little too much what Meredith was doing.
"You supposed? My stunningly smart OB, neonatal surgeon girlfriend supposes?" Meredith laughed against her chest as she inhaled her sweet scent.
"I mean..." Addison stammered and lost the ability to continue when Meredith unbuttoned her jeans and lowered the zipper to have space to sneak a hand in her pants, just over her lace panties.
"You mean?" The blonde used her free hand to caressed her side under the sweater she was still wearing. "You're wearing too much," she pulled her hand out of her girlfriend's pants and took off her sweater. Addison whined in abandonment when Meredith stopped caressing her clit over the fabric of the panties but it quickly became a sinful loud moan when Meredith bit her left nipple over the lacy fabric. "Shh," Meredith spanked her ass.
Addison yelped. "Oh!"
"You'll wake up the whole neighborhood," the blonde laughed devilishly as she worked on the redhead's bra clasp. "Not that I mind," she threw the fabric away.
"Meredith," Addison sighed deeply. "You were tired and unwell,"
"Don't worry about me, darling," Meredith smiled as she guided her out of her lap to stand in front of her. "I'm never tired for you," she grabbed her pants and pulled her close enough to attach her lips to the skin of her abdomen. "Now, stop making excuses and enjoy," she murmured as she yanked down her jeans and threw Addison on the bed to make her enjoy and forget about the night they had.

"Oh sorry," Meredith apologized quickly, holding the person she just bumped into as she came out of the elevator.
"Don't worry... Meredith?" Lexie asked with a frown and a smile as her sister let go of her. "Are you back?"
"Not yet, I'm just picking Addison," Meredith grinned.
"Oh, you are going out on a date?" Lexie asked, following her. The younger Grey sister had decided that she couldn't give up on Meredith, because she is her sister and even if she hasn't been exactly nice to her, she loves her.
"Something like that, Addison's brother and best friend is in town, and we have been invited to a party," Meredith was so excited about this date that she didn't even care that she was sharing a bit too much with a sister she insisted she didn't want to know.
"Archer Montgomery is in town?" Lexie asked in awe, she had read all his books.
"Yeah, he is," Meredith continued walking towards the lobby where she was supposed to wait for Addison, but she went to the ER to visit Cristina and her friends, unfortunately they were busy and just could compliment her outfit before they were driven away by some emergency.
"How's he?" Lexie asked.
"Haven't known him for long enough to form an opinion," Meredith decided it was safe to say, she knows what Addison had told her about him and the little time they've spent in the presence of the other, she hadn't liked him that much. He was arrogant, patronizing and condescending; however, the blonde could see that he loved Addison so much that she couldn't really hate him. "I don't know how long he'll be around, but if you meet him, please don't sleep with him,"
"Excuse me?" Lexie looked appalled.
"I heard you're sleeping with Alex and that Mark is trying to... I wouldn't like to tell you who you can and can't sleep with even if I think it's not right... just please don't sleep with Archer Montgomery," Meredith winced at how caring her words came across, she shouldn't be caring for Lexie, she was trying to convince herself that she was asking Lexie this for Addison, who needn't more drama in her life.
"Screw you, Meredith!" She said through gritted teeth. "You don't want to be my sister, but it's okay for you to meddle in my love life, calling me a whore"
"Lexie, stop," Meredith grabbed her arms softly. "I didn't mean to offend you, or call you a whore; I really have no moral stand to say that to you... I just want you to be careful because this place is... everyone here knows everything about everyone, and it hurts when people discuss your life as if it's their right too. Plus, I don't want more drama in Addison's life, and it would be complicated that my half sister is sleeping with her brother,"
"Well..." Lexie now felt a bit embarrassed about biting Meredith's head off. "Thank you for warning me. I won't sleep with Archer Montgomery," Lexie promised. "And about Alex and Mark..." Lexie continued but Meredith was no longer listening, Addison Montgomery was coming out of the elevator with a long black dress that hugged her figure just fine. The thin fabric made her curves more prominent, her toned abdomen and her narrow hips, long legs, the elegance of her strides, the confidence in that bright toothy smile... Oh my god, what did I do to get so lucky?
"Lexie, walk away," Meredith whispered with a smile as her eyes took in the amazing sight coming towards her with bright eyes.
"What- why?" Lexie asked, confused as she turned around and saw Addison coming down the hall. "Oh, she looks so beautiful,"
"I know, walk away now," She shooed her and started walking towards her girlfriend to meet her halfway.
"You look—" Addison started but was interrupted by Meredith's lips on hers.
If Meredith had been taller, she probably would have swooped Addison off her feet, but she wasn't, so she just cupped her face and pulled into a searing kiss. Meredith's lips were soft and warm despite the cold weather outside, she parted her lips slightly to allow Meredith's tongue to slip in before the need to breathe became unbearable and they had to pull away.
"Woah!" Addison breathed and held tight on Meredith's shoulders because she felt like her legs were made of jello. "That's... woah!"
"You're definitely the most gorgeous woman that had ever walked on earth," Meredith smiled, caressing her hips and waist.
"Did you see yourself in the mirror today or... ever?" Addison pulled away slightly to take a closer look at her girlfriend. Meredith was wearing a suit, a black suit with a lace black bodysuit. The slacks were slim fitted making her legs look longer, the blazer was fitted to her waist. Her hair was straightened back, leaving her goddess-like face free to be admired. "You're stunning,"
"Had to match my date's gorgeousness," The blonde grinned widely. "Let's go," She offered her arm to the redhead to walk out.
"Are you getting a déjà vu too?" Naomi asked as she approached Addison at one of the high tables, she was leaning in.
"What?" Addison asked, snapping out of her staring across the room. The party was in full swing, there was some pop music playing in the background, not too loud to overwhelm people who were trying to have a conversation. Meredith was at the bar getting them drinks while showing Addison her behind. I will worship that ass later.
"Do you remember the party we attended the last time Archer visited you in LA? When you were dating Kevin, and he gave him 'the talk'?" Naomi asked.
"Yeah... and he is about to give it to Meredith," Addison nodded in the direction of the bar, where Archer just approached Meredith.
"Aren't you worried?" Naomi asked. "Not one bit," Addison smiled brightly.
"Why? I remember that Archer got into Kevin's head about you being from different worlds and whatnot, are you not afraid that the same is going to happen with Meredith?" Naomi insisted.
"No, I'm not afraid, Nai. Meredith is different, different from Kevin, Derek, Mark... she is just different," Addison sighed wistfully. "And we aren't really from different worlds, do you not know who her mother was?"
"Why should I know who her mother was?" Naomi frowned, confused. "Because you almost went into General surgery for her," Addison grinned.
"Meredith is the daughter of the great Ellis Grey?!" Naomi was flabbergasted. Addison nodded. "Woah!"
"Yeah, anyway, what we have is nothing like I've ever had before, sure we have our problems but that doesn't get in the way of our happiness," Addison turned again in the direction of the bar where Meredith was smirking at Archer. "Because, Nai, Meredith makes me happy and I know I make her happy too,"
"Too much info, Addie," Naomi laughed and continued to observe how genuinely happy her best friend looked.
"Hey, can I ask you a question?" Archer asked as he approached Meredith at the bar.
"Sure," Meredith smiled pleasantly knowing what was coming for her but not one bit worried. "First of all, what the hell are you drinking?" Archer looked down at her drink with horrified eyes. "Club soda, I told you that I can't drink alcohol yet, didn't I?" Meredith replied.
"Yeah, you didn't share what that major surgery was about," Archer raised an eyebrow at her. The gesture was familiar, almost a signature gesture for Addison, but it looked only sexy on the redhead.
"I didn't," Meredith agreed but didn't share more immediately, and Archer waited patiently. "I was attacked a few weeks ago, got a myocardial contusion because I got a broken rib, they had to open my chest to fix it," Meredith finally told him, even if that wasn't the real reason for her not drinking. She wasn't going to share that she had a medical abortion because of an ectopic pregnancy.
"Sorry about that, may I ask what happened?" Archer tilted his head sympathetically.
"You may but I'm not going to tell you," Meredith replied sardonically. "Was that what you were going to ask me?"
"No... what are you doing with my sister?" He asked what he intended to ask in the first place. "Dating her," Meredith shrugged. "Making her happy,"
"I bet you're a nice girl, a stand up girl and everything, a great improvement from the cop she was dating the last time I visited her but she has a 25 million trust fund, you think you can get at that?"
There he was being condescending again, just like Derek was, it grated on Meredith's nerves but she just laughed. "What? Do you think I'm lying?"
"No, I know you're not lying," Meredith laughed a bit more before calming down a bit. "I just think it's cute that you think that number scares me,"
"It should, she's used to an expensive lifestyle and I don't think you can give her that, and..." he started.
"And you think I am a gold digger that will steal her money and leave her heartbroken," the blonde interrupted. "How much is your trust fund?" She then asked.
"What? Seeing if you chose the wrong Forbes Montgomery?" Archer asked with a knowing look.
"Humor me," Meredith shrugged nonchalantly.
"The same as Addison, and my net worth is two million more," he replied.
"My net worth is 50 million and increases 2 millions every year," Meredith said as it was the most common thing to say.
"You're kidding," Archer accused her.
"Archer, my mother was Ellis Grey, one of the most prominent figures in her field, she wrote several books on medicine, she won Harper Averys while she was in her residency for a method that's still one of the most effective ones, and she was already rich before that, she only had me, left all her money to me. I don't need your family money, and I'm certainly not with Addison for that. I love her,"
"Your mother was Ellis Grey?!" Archer marveled.
"I thought you knew that," Meredith shrugged, grabbing her and Addison's drink and walking back to her girlfriend... with Archer following her.
"You knew her mother was Ellis Grey?" Arched asked his sister once they met her and Naomi at the table.
"Of course, I even met her," Addison smiled tightly as she hugged Meredith's waist and accepted her drink, a glass of red wine.
"And you didn't tell us, how was she?" Naomi asked in awe.
"Brilliant," Addison replied, feeling her girlfriend tensed up a bit. She didn't have many nice things to say about Meredith's mother, especially knowing how awful she was to the blonde, so she settled with 'brilliant' because she was a brilliant surgeon. "Wanna dance with me?" Addison turned to the blonde in her arms.
"I'd love to," The blonde resident smiled and followed her away from the tables to the dance floor just as one of Meredith's favorite songs started playing.
"I'm sorry if Archer upset you and—" Addison wrapped her arms around her waist while Meredith loosely hugged her shoulders.
"Shh," Meredith shushed her as she began swaying. "I love this song," Meredith said softly as she rested her head on Addison's shoulder.
"When the evening shadows and the stars appear and there is no one there to dry your tears, I could hold you for a million years to make you feel my love," Addison sang the next verse with her lips against Meredith's temple.
They continued swaying under the twinkling lights above them. The song ended and they stayed for two more songs that Meredith vaguely recognized and Addison knew the melody enough to hum it.
"Did you know I'm worth 50 million?" Meredith asked out of the blue while they were still on the dance floor.
"I know," Addison told her. "Your mother told me,"
"When?" The blonde pulled away a bit to frown at her girlfriend.
"A little after I knew you were in the ER after the drowning," Addison sighed. "I went to her room before Derek, and I informed her that you had fallen into the water and that they were doing everything they could to save you, she was lucid for a few minutes,"
"And just like that she told you I was 50 million worth?" Meredith was confused.
"And 2 million more every year," The redhead confirmed. "I asked her if she thought you would fight for your life, I asked her if she thought you had something to fight for, to live for," Addison looked down as tears pricked her eyes. "And she said that you didn't, that she made sure to damage you enough so you wouldn't fight for your life and that all the money she made will go to waste," Addison chuckled bitterly. "I never hated anyone like I hated her in that moment," the redhead confessed.
Meredith made a noncommittal noise and returned her head to her shoulder.
"I heard you that day," Meredith confessed after a while. "I heard you telling me not to die, not to do this," the blonde pressed a kiss on her clothed shoulder.
"Did you really?" Addison asked curiously, her hands resting on the small of her back. "I don't think I even heard myself when I said that," The redhead confessed.
"Why did you say that?" Meredith asked, pulling her head away and looking up into bright green eyes.
"Because I love you, and I don't want you to die," Addison frowned in confusion, it was like Meredith was questioning why the sky was blue.
"Yes, that's now... but then?" Meredith inquired. "We weren't together then, what did you care if I lived or died?"
"I was already in love with you, idiot," Addison rolled her eyes.
"Hey!" Meredith chuckled. "How should I know? Back then, I thought you hated me for stealing your husband,"
"You're so oblivious," Addison laughed and leaned down to kiss her lips. "Good thing I decided to kiss you that night or we'd still be pining for each other and driving our friends crazy,"
"Why don't you kiss me some more and make your brother and friend crazy?" Meredith proposed with a sly grin.
"Why don't we go home and have our own party?" Addison leaned just enough to smile against her mouth.
"Are you thinking what I'm thinking?" Meredith murmured seductively just as they felt a presence near them.
"May I steal my sister away from you?" Archer grunted, placing his hand on Addison's back and smiling condescendingly to Meredith.
"Yes, you may have a dance with my girlfriend," Meredith replied cheekily as she let go of Addison. "Have fun," She kissed the redhead's hands before returning to the table where Naomi was watching her with an unreadable expression.
"So, your mother was Ellis Grey, how was it?" Naomi asked with a curious smile.
"Huh... Difficult," Meredith cleared her throat and brought her drink towards her lips. "I thought you were a reproductive endocrinologist and infertility specialist, how do you know my mother?"
"Doctors know doctors," Naomi shrugged. "I almost went into general surgery after I had the pleasure to see your mother in an OR in New York. My ex-husband, Addie, Derek and Mark were in their surgical intern year and I had already finished my fellowship. I was uninspired and was thinking about changing specialties, so Sam sneaked me into the gallery while we were all watching your mother doing a whipple and..." Naomi shrugged. "She inspired me and was extremely kind when I told her about what I was going through, she told me I could be extraordinary," and that last comment bittered Meredith's mood for the rest of the night.
"I'm glad my mother inspired you," Meredith smiled tightly before excusing herself to the
restroom. Naomi, who was not so thick, caught on that she upset the blonde resident and tried to follow her but the blonde could be very sneaky and Naomi lost her in the crowd.
"Where's Meredith?" Addison asked as she and Archer met Naomi at their table.
"She said she was going to the restroom but I think I may have upset her talking about her mother," Naomi ducked her head, as if waiting for Addison to start yelling at her.
"What did you say?" Addison asked, trying so hard not to go running, looking for her girlfriend.
"I told her about the time we saw Ellis doing that whipple in New York and how she inspired me to almost go into General,"
Addison nodded going over the story that she had heard so many times, thinking about what part of the story could've upset Meredith.
"Please, is she that emotionally immature? I bet a lot of people come to her with stories about how her mother inspired them... she should be used to it, not running to hide every time this happens," Archer huffed and Addison was ready to murder him right there for his words.
"I didn't run to hide, I genuinely had to go to the restroom," Meredith interrupted them rejoining the table with her phone in hand. "We got paged," Meredith told her girlfriend as she passed her own phone across the table, Meredith had been the one carrying both of their phones.
"I thought you had off till Monday," Naomi turned to Addison.
"Multiple MVCs," Addison read the page to her as an explanation. "We have to go," Addison started walking with Meredith away from the table but Naomi and Archer followed them too.
"This party is boring, so we are going with you," Archer shrugged when Addison shot them a look. Addison really didn't have the energy nor the time to question him.
The drive back to Seattle Grace was quick as the venue for the party they had attended was just a few blocks away.
"Ah, Grey, Montgomery, I'm sorry to page you but we need all hands on deck," Bailey greeted them curtly with a nod and began passing them some disposable gowns for them to wear over their clothes and charts.
"Don't worry about it, Bailey," Addison nodded and began putting on the gown. "This is Dr. Naomi Bennett, Endocrinologist and Fertility specialist, and this Dr. Archer Montgomery, Neurologist, they would like to help," Addison gestured towards Naomi and Archer.
"They'll have privileges," Bailey nodded, passing them a gown and charts too. "We need all the hands available, thank you,"
"Alright, see you later," Meredith tiptoed to kiss Addison's cheek and quickly disappeared inside the ER looking for her interns and putting them to work.
"See ya," Addison smiled before looking for the patient she was going to work on.
"Hey, Byrider, have you seen Dr. Grey?" Addison asked when she spotted one of Meredith's interns later that night.
"Yes, she told Nowland that she was going to nap in one of the basement gurneys," The blond told her with a vague gesture as he continued writing on a patient chart.
"Thank you," Addison walked away in the direction Byrider indicated while checking her phone. Naomi and Archer had gone back to the house after the crisis was averted but Meredith and Addison were still in surgery by that time, so they went alone.
The redhead opened the big metal doors with a strenuous noise and poked her head out into the deserted dark hallway, looking for Meredith. She walked further into the hallway when she spotted her in one of the gurneys sprawled across it, with a leg and an arm hanging from the border while her face was right at the edge. The OB doctor crouched down close to her face, glad that she had gotten the opportunity to change from her dress and high heels before going into surgery, she was now wearing her navy scrubs and a pair of black sneakers she had in her locker. She caressed Meredith's clothed back softly, trying to wake her up slowly; Meredith had also changed from her suit and was wearing her resident scrubs with a black undershirt, and a pair of purple sneakers she also had in her locker; her face was void of the make up she had been wearing before and her hair
was hastily pulled into a low ponytail.
"Princess?" Addison whispered when the blonde didn't even stirred. "Princess, let's go home," she pressed a quick kiss to the tip of her nose, enjoying how the blonde scrunched her nose and her eyes fluttered open.
"Addie?" She rasped out as she rubbed her eyes with her knuckles and yawned adorably. "Yes, baby. Sorry to wake you up... wanna go home?" She asked, caressing her hair tenderly.
"Yeah," The blonde sat up and stretched her arms over her head just as Addison stood up and waited for her. "You look so pretty," Meredith smiled when she swung her legs over the edge and looked up at Addison.
"It's just scrubs, Mer," Addison dismissed as she looked the other way, trying to hide the fact that she was blushing. It was a little embarrassing for the redhead, she was almost in her 40's and she was still blushing for a simple compliment from her girlfriend.
"And you look beautiful," The blonde stood up in front of her, caressing her forearms while looking up at her, without the redhead's heels the height difference was less noticeable. "Why is it so hard to believe me when I tell you you're pretty?"
"You always tell me I'm pretty," Addison looked down and bit her lower lip.
"You're always pretty," Meredith tried not to smile so wide but failed miserably. "And I'll never get tired of telling you that, okay?" She pressed a kiss to her jaw, another to her chin and finally she tiptoed just enough to press one to her lips.
"Hmm, charming," The redhead smirked.
"Honest," The blonde argued. "Let's go home, I'm tired," She pulled her hand towards the exit so they could get their things from their lockers.
"Dr. Montgomery!" A nurse called making them groan. "Andy Robberts's baby is in distress," She
informed her with urgency.
Addison turned to Meredith with an apologetic look, to which the blonde smiled and shook her head. "Go, I'll get our things and wait for you in the lobby,"
"I'm sorry, I love you," She pecked her lips before following the nurse down the hall. Meredith yawned widely as she stepped into the resident's locker room getting her bag and then going to the attending lounge to get Addison's.
The attending lounge was empty except for Lexie Grey who seemed to be getting herself a cup of coffee. "I think that is only for attendings, just as this lounge," she commented as she went to Addison's locker getting her bag out.
"Yet here you are," Lexie snapped before she could stop herself.
"I was just getting Addison's bag," Meredith shrugged and made a turn to leave.
"Meredith, I'm sorry, I just... lost a patient and I can't seem to shake this feeling," Lexie stopped her.
"I understand, don't worry," Meredith smiled pleasantly and turned to leave again. "I hope this gets better someday," Lexie murmured, bringing her mug to her lips.
"It doesn't, but you get better at dealing with it," Meredith sighed. "Come on, I want to show you something," She gestured for her to follow her, gladly Lexie complied quickly. "It never gets better but sometimes it helps to know that we do everything humanly possible to stop people from dying," she told her as she approached a nurse and asked for a file. Once she got the black file from the nurse, she motioned Lexie to follow her again and didn't speak until they reached the nursery. "I have your mother's death note here. Everything that happened on the day she died is in here, and I know because I wrote it. So, I'd like to go over with you if that's okay," Meredith took a seat in front of the nursery before shooting Addison a text, telling her where she was and to meet her there once she was done.
"Why?" Lexie asked as she took a seat next to her.
"Because I think it would be good for you to know about how things actually happened, did Thatcher explain what happened?" Lexie shook her head slightly. "Well, would you like me to?"
"Yeah, okay," Lexie agreed.
"Okay," She opened the file. "First of all let me just say that everything that happened that day, every setback there was one percent chance of each of those things happening one percent and your mother was the one percent. She came in complaining of persistent hiccups. We did an endoscopy out of obligation,"
"You did an endoscopy?" Lexie asked curiously.
"So it would be an out-patient procedure,"Meredith nodded. "We wanted to avoid major surgery. For what it's worth I was very fond of your mother. She was...I was very fond of her," She nodded with a shaky breath. "She got bacterial endocarditis," She gazed down at the file again.
They read and went over each kink in the file, Meredith tried so hard not to shed a tear but when Lexie sobbed against her hand, she couldn't help it. She embraced her little sister with her arms and shushed until she stopped crying.
"Thank you for doing this Meredith, thank you for trying your best with my mom," Lexie murmured sincerely.
"I wish, sincerely, that I could've done more. You didn't deserve having your amazing mom taken away from you," She rubbed her back softly.
"How was your mom? Was she good? Is that why you didn't like me or my mom at the beginning?" Lexie asked genuinely curious.
"No, my mom wasn't good and I wasn't good with your mom at the beginning because I couldn't deal with someone mothering me the way she did. Susan showed me how moms should be and how much I'd lost on my own," Meredith sighed heavily.
"I'm sorry," Lexie mumbled.
"Don't be, it's not your fault my mom wasn't a good mom," Meredith squeezed her hand lightly, before returning her hands to her lap.
"What about dad? What was he like?" Lexie turned to ask and Meredith took a deep breath, wondering how she was going to answer that question without shattering the image of Thatcher she has.
I can't tell her, I can't unburden this on her when I'm not even sure that's what actually happened. I can't, I just can't—
"Meredith?" One of the nurses in the nursery opened the door and called her with urgency. Oh, thank God!
"Melinda, what's wrong?" Meredith asked, scooting towards the edge of her seat.
"It's Cyrus," Melinda breathed. "He's screaming and he can't seem to calm him down, I'm worried and..." She started telling her when Meredith stood up and followed her inside the nursery.
"Hey, Cy!" Meredith cooed as she got her stethoscope out of her pocket and used it to check the baby's heart. "What's wrong buddy?" She asked softly, rubbing soothing circles on his cheeks.
The rosy baby took a deep breath and began to calm down when he heard Meredith's voice, his screeching reduced to soft whimpers as Meredith continued to softly speak to him, caressing her mop of black thin hair. She maneuvered her stethoscope back into her pocket and tightened the blanket around Cyrus before carefully pulling him out of the glassy crib.
"I don't know how you do it," Melinda wondered as she saw the blonde intern carrying the small baby in her arms, whispering soft things against his face.
"Cyrus likes when you speak closer to his face, he likes feeling your breath against his skin," Meredith told her when Cyrus cooed at her and buried his face further into Meredith's clothed chest.
"You're so good with them, not only Cyrus," Melinda touched her elbow softly with a smile.
"You'd be a good mother," The nurse told her before she left to tend another baby. Meredith didn't want to think about what Melinda just said, because... it was impossible, she had the worst mother and she was broken and emotionally unavailable... she wouldn't be a good mom.
"That's ridiculous, isn't it, Cy?" She cooed at the baby enjoying how he gave her a toothless smile followed by a gargle and a giggle. "It is," Meredith bounced him around the room lightly.
"I hope he's okay," Lexie murmured to herself as she stood outside the nursery watching Meredith take care of the baby.
"His mother was an addict, he's going through withdrawal," Addison told her as she came to stand next to her, watching her girlfriend with tender eyes. "Meredith delivered him earlier this week,"
"Meredith delivered him?" Lexie asked in shock.
"Yes, and that baby, and that one... and that one as well," Addison pointed at the cribs occupied around Cyrus's crib. "All of them are going through withdrawal. Meredith like to have them close to each other, so they can feel like they are not alone,"
"I didn't know... when does she have the time to deliver babies with her work as a resident?" Lexie wondered, she barely has time to sleep.
"She comes to help in OB when she's free. She's so good at it that I'm almost tempted to swoop her into OB," Addison chuckled lightly.
"Why don't you?" Lexie asked curiously.
"She was born to be a surgeon, not just to deliver babies. She is so good in Neuro and General, that she can become the next big hot shot surgeon," The redhead smirked proudly.
"You sound very proud," Lexie smiled as she turned to Meredith again. The blonde was pacing around the room with the baby in her arms, unaware of the two other doctors watching her.
"I am... very proud of her," Addison nodded.
"Well, I'm leaving, say goodbye to her for me," Lexie said as she grabbed the file from the seats they've been using and left, leaving Addison to continue to observe her girlfriend.
There was something magical and ethereal about seeing Meredith with a baby in her arms, speaking softly, smiling kindly and basically just flowing around the room like the world was not as messed up as they knew it was.
Addison felt a strong surge of love the longer she saw Meredith, she felt like her head was about to explode with all the love she felt for Meredith, and it wasn't only because she had wanted a baby for longer that she can remember and her girlfriend was holding one and actually taking good care of it... it was because the blonde was so kind despite the trauma she'd gone through. Sure she was a bit dark and twisty, but that didn't shadow her other qualities, how caring and passionate she was about the things that matter to her.
Addison sighed deeply, grabbing her and Meredith's duffle bag and bringing them inside the nursery, leaving them on a chair close to the door and smiling widely at the blonde when she turned at the sound of the door opening and showing her that Cyrus was sleeping peacefully in her arms.
"Hey, what do we have here?" Addison asked as she approached them and leaned down to kiss Meredith's cheek and Cyrus's head.
"Cyrus was fuzzy," Meredith whispered. "But he's all better now," she said as she let him in the crib once again. The baby curled in his blanket but didn't wake up. "They are all getting better," She murmured watching the other babies nearby sleep.
"And it's all thanks to you, you're so good to all of them," Addison whispered as she hugged Meredith from behind, resting her chin on her shoulder as she looked at the babies too.
"You too think that?" Meredith asked in disbelief. "Melinda says I could be a good mother," she huffed lightly.
"I agree with Melinda, you could be a great mother," Addison pressed a kiss to the side of her neck.
"Are you sure you met my mother?" Meredith questioned.
"I did but the kind of mother your mother was doesn't define the kind of mother you'd be," Addison told her firmly. "You're nothing like your mother," she assured her.
"Thank you for saying that, even if it's hard for me to believe it," The blonde resident turned in her arms and rested her hands on her hips, looking up at her.
"I'll tell you all the times you need till you believe it," Addison pecked her lips before pulling away a bit. "Are you ready to go home?" Meredith nodded and they both grabbed their bags before leaving the nursery full of sleeping babies.
"You would be an amazing mother, Addie," Meredith told her later as they were driving home.
"We would be amazing mothers, Mer, both of us," The redhead let go of the stick to grab Meredith's hand and bring her to her lips for a butterfly kiss.
"Do you want... Do you want to have kids?" Meredith asked as Addison pulled up in the driveway. Addison turned off the engine and took out the key before turning to her nervous looking girlfriend.
"I do, yes," The redhead nodded. "Do you?"
"I told you I don't think I would be a good mother, Addie," The blonde averted her blue eyes away.
"That's not what I asked, Mer, and you know it," Addison said firmly. "Put that idea out of your mind and think if you would like to have kids someday," She caressed the back of her hand with her thumb.
"I think..." Meredith started but stopped herself before continuing. "I'd love to..." She confessed after a pause. "I'd love to have kids with you someday, Addie," And the strong surge of love she felt earlier tugged at her heart and made her cross the console and pull Meredith into a searing and passionate kiss.
"I love you, Meredith Grey, I never thought I could feel like this about anyone, but I'm so happy I do about you," She peppered her face with kisses.
"I love you too, Addie," Meredith giggled in delight. "I'm so happy you turned up in my life,"
Chapter End Notes
In other fics, and probably in the show —i dont remember— they say thay Meredith is not wealthy, basically having her inheritance to help her with her interns salary... but I don't think that is accurate, I mean, Ellis was definitely loaded and she probably came from a wasp family just as Addison so I made Meredith loaded but humble about it.
Also, if you ever watched private practice, you recognize the dance/shovel talk scene which I changed because honestly Meredith wouldn't be intimidated about it like Kevin was.
Also I finally found a way to include the scene in which Meredith and Lexie actually start to get along.

Chapter Notes
Okay, so we have reached the end of this second part, sorry it took me a while to get it uploaded; I have been studying for finals and honestly I felt a little discoraged that this part didn't receive the same attention as the first one. Anyway, I think that's normal and I mostly write for me to unload my mind of this huge amount of ideas.
So I really hope you like it and check the end of chapter notes for updates on the third part.

"You look positively happy," Meredith commented towards her best friend as she and Cristina were getting dressed into their scrubs.
"And you look thin, are you eating okay?" Cristina asked as Meredith took off her shirt and put it in the duffle bag in her locker, leaving her only with her sports bra.
"Don't change the subject, tell me why you're so happy," Meredith slapped her side playfully.
"I may or may not have kissed a woman last night," Cristina tried to fight the smile that was threatening to tug at the corner of her lips.
"A woman?" Meredith asked in surprise. "Are you speaking the vagina monologues now?" Meredith laughed.
"I've spoken every monologue since I was 15, this is not new," Crisitna rolled her eyes as she got rid of her jeans.
"Well, I didn't know... so who was the lucky woman?" The blonde asked as she put on her dark blue undershirt.
"I don't know!" Cristina laughed in disbelief, she still couldn't believe she kissed someone who she had only seen once. "She's in the army, and she was at the scene last night. She came in one of the ambulances. She had cricked the patient in the scene with a ball pen and was basically giving orders left and right,"
"Was she a doctor?" Meredith sat down next to her and began taking her jeans off.
"Yes, cardio and trauma surgeon in the army," Cristina nodded with a smile. "She had this cut on her leg and I told her I could stitch her up," Cristina murmured and when Meredith laughed, she pushed her away, almost throwing her off the bench. "Not like that! I genuinely wanted to help her,"
"Uh-huh," Meredith nodded, not convinced. "Then what happened?"
"She grabbed the stapler and stapled herself, she didn't even flinch," Cristina threw her arms around.
"And you kissed her?" Meredith raised an eyebrow at her.
"No, I was furious and I started telling her that it was irresponsible and whatnot, so she kissed me to shut me up," Cristina sighed. "Mer, I had never been kissed like that... it was like every fiber of my body was on fire and freezing at the same time... It was electric!" Meredith raised her eyes at that, she had never seen Cristina so... excited except before going into the OR to hold a heart.
"Wow! So you're going to see her again?" The blonde bumped her shoulder into Cristina's with a mischievous grin.
"I don't even know her name, Meredith," Cristina rolled her eyes and looked down at her hands.
"Well, how many cardio/trauma doctors could be out there that work in the army?" The blonde resident reasoned.
"Okay, change of topic. How are you? You look happy too," Cristina shook her head before smiling up at Meredith.
"Well," Meredith smiled widely as she started but the door of the locker room being open startled them.
"Meredith!" Addison's panicked voice reached them just as the redhead attending came to them.
"Addie, what's wrong?" Meredith stood immediately, the hairs on the back of her neck standing in anticipation.
"We have to go, get dressed!" The redhead said with urgency as she passed her her blue jeans and the red sweater she had been wearing that morning.
"What? Why?" Meredith panicked, alternating her eyes between Addison and Cristina.
"Meredith, we don't have time, we have to go," Addison snapped as she began packing Meredith's duffle bag, her own already packed and hanging over her shoulder.
"Addie, you're scaring me!" Meredith breathed but began putting on her jeans and sweater.
"I know, babe, I know, and I'm sorry," She said sincerely, Meredith could hear the fear in her voice. "Just hurry, I need to get you out of here now,"
"What do I tell Bailey?" Cristina asked, helping Meredith with her shoes, tying one while Meredith was tying the other one.
"She already knows," Addison told her as she helped Meredith on her feet and began dragging her away.
"What does she know?!" Meredith whispered-yelled as she followed Addison through the hallways, it was difficult to keep up because Addison had longer legs but once she caught up with her it was easier. "Addie, what the fuck is going on?" Meredith asked with fear, her mind was going to the worst scenarios possible.
"Derek's coming to the hospital," Addison told her but didn't stop. "What?" Meredith stopped letting go of her girlfriend's hand.
"Meredith! Please, not now, we can talk about this later, we have to go," Addison came towards her and with an arm around her waist urged her to continue walking. "Richard will meet us in the lobby and—" she was rudely interrupted as they reached the lobby.
"Well, well!" His voice boomed across the area. "If it's the dirty mistress and the adulterous whore!" He opened his arms with a wide smile.
"Derek?" Meredith breathed.
"Leaving so soon?" He mockingly pouted as he walked closer to them. Addison put Meredith behind her with a protective stand. "How sweet!"
"Let's go," Meredith tugged at her hand towards Richard who was waiting for them near the side entrance.
"If you leave this hospital, I'll make sure you don't get accepted anywhere else," He growled at the blonde, relishing in how the resident cowered away from him and behind Addison.
"You don't have that power!" Addison straightened her back and looked down at him menacingly.
"No?" He mocked her. "I guess the new chief of staff at Seattle Grace has such a power, otherwise I wouldn't have gotten the job," He smiled devilishly and Addison's face drained off all her color. "Yes, I'm chief now and I got out on bail, my lawyer is already working on dropping the charges," He anticipated their questions.
"Chief of staff?" The blonde squeaked and turned to Richard who came to stand next to her.
"He threatened the board," Richard breathed out resigned, he had just learned that he was coming
back earlier that morning and had come to Addison to let her know but they didn't expect him to be in so soon.
"No, I didn't threaten them, I just showed them it was better to keep me happy," Derek shrugged.
"Come on, we don't have to stay," Addison tugged her arm towards the side entrance, away from Derek Shepherd and his ill intentions.
"That's partially true," Derek took another step towards them, staying just a few feet away from them. "You can go, Addison," He set his cold blue eyes on his ex-wife. "You're fired, you can go back to Conneticut, New York or wherever the fuck you like... but," He turned to Meredith with excitement. "You have to stay, or you won't practice medicine ever again,"
"You can't do that," Meredith spat through gritted teeth. "You can't force me to stay,"
"Probably not, but as I said, if you leave... I'll make sure you are not accepted anywhere else and believe me when I say that I'm a powerful man," He laughed ominously. Meredith looked down pensively for a moment before coming closer to him.
"Meredith!" Addison panicked and tried to pull her back but Meredith slipped her hand away, which sent Addison's pressure to the roof.
Derek smiled smugly at her when the blonde stood right in front of him. "Fine, Dr. Shepherd, why do you want me to stay?" Meredith put her hand on her hips and looked up at him with venom in her eyes. "Do you want to make my life miserable? Do you want to flunk my career? Rape me again?" The lobby wasn't empty, and there were people starting to gather around.
"Hmm," Derek seemed pensive. "Haven't thought about it yet, but those are nice options," He shrugged with a smirk.
"I'd stay with a few conditions," Meredith told him after she glared for a few moments. "I don't think you're in any position to negotiate," His lips curled with displeasure.
"Take it or leave it, Derek," Meredith shrugged with fake nonchalance.
"Fine, what do you want? Do you want your girlfriend to stay? Do you want to be in all the neuro surgeries?" He agreed when he glared down at Meredith and the blonde didn't back down.
"Haven't thought about it, but those are nice options," Meredith shrugged in the same way he did just a moment ago. "I'll take the day off to think about it and discuss it with my lawyer, yeah? Thanks, chief," She patted his shoulder before going back to Addison and taking her hand. "Let's go," she whispered and started walking with her towards the exit and to the parking lot.
"Meredith?" Addison asked as they reached the car, they had used Meredith's Cherokee to go to work that day. "Baby?" She called again when Meredith opened the passenger door for her.
"Addie, not now. We'll talk once we get home," Meredith murmured, and to Addison, she sounded like she was at the verge of crying.
"Okay, baby," She leaned into her to press a soft kiss to her forehead, a kiss that Addison would've loved for it to last a bit more but Meredith pulled away clearing her throat.
"Let's go," She urged her to get in the car and once she did, she walked towards the driver seat and threw her duffle bag to the back of the car.
"Think they'll be okay?" Lexie asked Amelia Shepherd as they watched Addison and Meredith drive away in the car.
"I don't know..." Amelia replied with a sigh. "I hope so because if someone deserves a break from life... It's them,"
"Agree, they are very cute together..." Lexie commented.
"I can't imagine myself having that kind of love," Amelia breathed out.
"Have you ever really loved a woman... or a man... like that?" Lexie asked and almost as she said she regretted it, it was an intrusive question to ask her attending.
Amelia turned towards her as she asked and watched her with an unreadable expression. "I have... but I don't think I'm meant to love that woman," Dark eyes met blue in a battle or perhaps a dance, they met and their bodies got closer and closer until they were just a few inches away, breathing the same air. "We better go," Amelia pulled away. "I'll probably lose my job, so I better get one last surgery,"
"I'd like to assist, if you don't mind," Lexie followed her inside.
"I wouldn't have it any other way," Amelia nodded, offering her hand to her. Her heart filled with hope when Lexie Grey took it.
The blonde didn't know how they made it home, she remembers getting in the car and starting driving towards their place but she was sure she did it on autopilot— not her best decision because she could've gotten in an accident and it would be just her, it was Addison in the car as well.
She parked in the driveway and turned off the engine before leaning back against the back of her seat, she closed her eyes and tried so hard to calm the frisson of fear she had been feeling since Addison came running into the residents lounge and was unaware of what was happening but feeling her chest tighten with urgency, fear and dread.
"Mer?" Addison's voice reached her ears and she couldn't hold it any longer. She convulsed against the wheel and sobbed sorrowfully against it. She had lost all reservations about crying in front of Addison after the attack because the blonde couldn't really stop crying.
"Dr. Grey, do you need a moment?" The officer taking her statement after the surgery asked with concern, watching between the crying blonde and the concerned redhead that had come to sit next to her on the bed, pulling her into a tight hug.
"No, no, I want this to be over," Meredith sobbed against her hand and brought a tissue to her face and cleaned the tears in vain because they just kept coming. "Don't mind the tears, I don't
know how to stop them," she sniffed and tried to calm down as she waved her hand towards the middle-age man with tobacco stains on his fingers and teeth, so he could continue.
"I-I shouldn't have driven home," She sobbed.. "I am in no condition to be driving... we could've gotten in an accident... Baby, I'm so sorry," she continued to sob, holding the steering wheel with her hands as she pressed her forehead against it.
"It's okay, princess," Addison cautiously rested a hand on her back, just between her shoulder blades, rubbing soothing circles. "Nothing happened, we got home safe," she assured her. They stayed like that for a while, Meredith just sobbing and crying and Addison rubbing her back, shushing her like she does when the blonde has a nightmare.
"Addie, what are we going to do?" Meredith's voice cracked as she asked. She was a lot calmer but her voice still hadn't recovered, it was filled with undertones of vulnerability and helplessness.
"I don't know babe, but we'll figure it out together," Addison promised, caressing her hair and the back of her neck.
"If we go... where would we go?" Meredith lamented the apparent lack of options.
"We could go wherever we like," Addison assured her. "He can't really close the doors of all the hospitals in the country for you, we'll find a place..."
"But where can we go?" The blonde insisted and Addison understood that her girlfriend needed options, she needed to know that they could get through this.
"We could go to Boston, everyone at Mass Gen would be delighted to have you there," Addison leaned across the console to drop a soft kiss on her clothed shoulder. Addison had learned that when Meredith was this upset, she needed gradual physical touch. "You have a house there too, don't you?" She asked and the blonde nodded slightly. "We could go to LA, Naomi will be delighted to have me in the practice and Charlotte King is a friend of ours, she is also the chief of staff at St. Ambrose, so she can give you a job there... I have a beautiful house there, too, you'd love all the sun we would get," She smiled through the tears that had finally fallen from her eyes. "We could go to New York, I also have a house there and I have a few friends in Columbia," Addison cleaned her cheeks from the tears. "We could go anywhere you like, princess,"
"Anywhere we like, Addie, because if we go or we stay, we'll both take that decision," Meredith
turned to look at her with sincere eyes.
"Okay, anywhere we like," The redhead agreed and smiled, seeing her a lot better than a few moments ago. "I love you, you know?"
"I love you too, baby," Meredith turned to her and leaned against her, needing her warmth. "We need to call our lawyer,"
"Let's get inside first," Addison kissed the top of her head.
