Atem flicked the striker of his lighter absent-mindedly as he waited for his luggage to appear on the baggage carousel. After the 13-hour flight, the tan man was beginning to have nicotine withdrawal. His head throbbed as he collected his luggage and walked it out of the bustling port. He placed his duffel between his lanky legs as he sat on a bench and lit a cigarette.
A tall brunette caught his eye; he wore a long white jacket with odd navy belts around his forearms. The man's vibrant sky blue eyes fixed onto Atem's scarlet ones. His expression briefly became confused before approaching.
"Yugi? Is that a spray tan?"
Atem took a long drag from his cigarette, releasing the smoke through his nose. He smiled politely and shook his head no. The man sat next to Atem, close enough for their legs to touch.
Atem muttered in his native Arabic, "You are too close," but the brunette paused, clearly confused by the language he didn't understand.
The brunette's eyes bore into Atem, like he was trying to solve a puzzle with half of the pieces missing. Atem turned to him, their eyes holding each others for a moment.
"Too pretty to be Yugi," the brunette muttered to himself, pulling out his Kaiba Corp smartphone and opening a top-of-the-line translation application. That sounded Middle Eastern; let's try Arabic.
Atem jumped as the device spoke, "Good Evening, what brings you to Domino international Airport?"
The brunette held the phone up to Atem, inviting him to respond. "I am visiting family, my cousin lives here," he watched as his words were instantly transcribed and translated.
After reading the screen the brunette furrows his brow, "Yugi Muto?"
Atem nodded, and pressed the microphone button on the application "His grandfather is my uncle."
The brunette nods; that explains why they look so similar.
Atem turns his attention back to the sea of pedestrians. Soon focusing on a head of spiky multi-colored hair. His approaching cousin was about a foot shorter than him, large amethyst eyes stared into kohl-smeared ruby eyes.
Atem muttered in Japanese, "You're late." As he finished his cigarette, he put the filtered end in a metal box and slid it into his jacket pocket. Then, he stood up.
Yugi nodded in acknowledgement of the brunette man. "Kaiba."
"Yugi."
"Not flying on your private jet?"
Kaiba bristled, "That's my business, your cousin is cute, what's he visiting for?"
Yugi ignored Kaiba and turned his attention back to his dark-complexioned cousin.
Yugi took Atem's rolling luggage and started the trek to the run-down car. "I had to park a block away," he said apologetically.
Atem bowed politely to Kaiba, "Mr. Kaiba." before following Yugi closely, making sure not to lose his iconic spiky hair in the crowd.
Yugi approached the car, pressing the buttons on his key ring to unlock and open the trunk. Atem opened the passenger door and slid into the seat. Yugi put Atem's luggage into the nearly empty trunk. He then closed the trunk and walked around to the driver's side. Opening the door, he took his place behind the wheel, shutting the door behind him.
Yugi clears his throat and begins driving towards the game shop, "I have a few people who would like to meet you."
"Meet me? Why?"
"You're the Egyptian Duel Monsters champion; who wouldn't want to meet you?"
"Former. You know I'm retired."
"You're still the best, you never had a duel against the new champion."
"Drop it, Yugi; I'm done playing. There is nothing you can say or do to make me change my mind."
"I bet Kaiba would like to duel you. I can probably arrange a meeting with him if you'd like that as well."
Atem's ears perk up, "Kaiba? Wait, that fellow at the airport that would not leave me alone? That man is The Seto 'Fucking' Kaiba?"
"Yeah, he's my friend. We went to school together."
"Were you friends before the rivalry?"
"Uh, well I went to school with him!"
Atem rolled his eyes; he knew full well that Yugi didn't have friends. If the kid wasn't at school, he hung out at the old man's storefront all day, building decks and manning the counter. He doubted that Yugi spent time with his "friends" outside of dueling events. Atem went quiet, too lost in thought to continue the ongoing conversation with his younger cousin.
"Atem! Hey, Atem!" Yugi called out in hopes of getting Atem's attention, but he was clearly lost in his own thoughts.
The car came to a halt, bringing Atem back to reality. Looking around, his ruby eyes focused on the Kame Game shop.
"I am going to take a nap, would it be alright if I used your bed?"
"Yeah, that's fine. I'll sleep on the futon."
--Seto Kaiba's POV--
The stench of smoke lingered on Seto's clothes as he waited on the bench, occasionally people would sit next to him. Those who recognized him took selfies with him, he didn't acknowledge any of them.
His mind was full of the ruby-eyed foreigner, he knew japanese the entire time! Kaiba fumed silently.
Suddenly a pair of hands were placed over his eyes "Guess who!"
All of the annoyance left Seto as joy filled him.
Seto chuckled softly "Mokuba."
Mokuba smiled widely as he climbed over the back of the bench to sit next to his older brother. "Did you miss me?"
Seto ruffled his little brother's hair, "You were gone almost three whole months, of course I missed you. Let's go home, I'm sure you miss sleeping in your bed."
