Walking into a small, spartan hovel, cluttered with desert junk. I came to a stop once I saw Luke, the same boy who we were supposed to watch over, with two droids from the past. R2-D2, an astromech, and C-3PO, a protocall droid. Luke was in the corner repairing C-3PO's arm, as Ben was sitting, thinking.
"Lady Revan?" Luke questioned as he stood up, looking at me with a raised eyebrow. "What brings you here?" Luke asked as I looked from him over to Ben.
"I live here, with Ben." I answered as I crossed my arms. "Why is he here?" I asked, giving him a disappointed look as it was too early for him.
"He was attacked out in the sands by the sand people. I brought him here so that he could rest. To my surprise, the droids were looking for me, a message from someone from what I have heard." Ben answered, with me sighing at that.
"This isn't the clone wars, you're too old to go out and fight against anything!" I told him, getting a nod from Ben.
"You fought in the Clone Wars?" Luke asked as he looked from me and back to Ben.
"Yes, I was once a Jedi Knight, the same as Revan here, and your father." Ben answered, with me crossing my arms as I wasnt happy with him telling him about his father.
"I wish I'd known him." Luke said, his head filled with thoughts that his father wasnt a jedi but a space engineer.
"He was the best star-pilot in the galaxy, and a cunning warrior." Ben said with a faraway look in his eyes. "I understand you've become quite a good pilot yourself." Ben said as he looked at Luke and then got the same look in his eyes. "And he was a good friend. Which reminds me!" Ben said as he stood up and walked over to the chest.
"That is not something to be passed down!" I said as I walked over to the chest and closed it on him. "I know you want to honor his memory, but the force is strong with objects of the past, especially if it was a part of something big, like him. If he is as strong as we think he is, it will have the wrong effect on him." I whispered as Ben opened up the chest once more.
"Trust in the force." Ben said, with me closing my eyes and letting the lid go as when it came to Ben and the force, his gut was always right. Ben shuffled up and presented Luke with a short handle with several electronic gadgets attached to it. "I have something here for you. Your father wanted you to have this when you were old enough, but your uncle wouldn't allow it. He feared you might follow old Obi-Wan on some damned-fool idealistic crusade like your father did." Ben said, making me smile as that was exactly how they were to each other.
"Sir, if you'll not be needing me, I'll close down for a while." C-3PO said, with me looking at him as he spoke.
"Sure, go ahead." Luke said without a care in the word. Ben handed Luke the handle, who in turn examined it. "What is it?" He asked as he looked at Ben.
"Your fathers lightsaber. This is the weapon of a Jedi Knight. Not as clumsy or as random as a blaster." Ben said as Luke pushed a button on the handle. A long beam shot out, about four feet and flickered, the light playing across the ceiling. "An elegant weapon for a more civilized time. For over a thousand generations the Jedi Knights were the guardians of peace and justice in the Old Republic. Before the dark times, before the Empire." Ben explained, but I could that that Luke wasn't really listening.
"How did my father die?" Luke asked as he turned off the lightsaber, with me feeling a pain in my heart as I knew he wasnt dead from what Ben had told me.
"A young Jedi named Darth Vader, who was a pupil of mine until he turned to evil, helped the Empire hunt down and destroy the Jedi Knights. He betrayed and murdered your father. Now the Jedi are all but extinct. Vader was seduced by the dark side of the Force." Ben told, with me knowing that he wasnt telling the truth but part of the truth.
"The Force?" Luke asked as he didn't know what it was.
"The Force is what gives a Jedi his or her power. It's an energy field created by all living things. It surrounds us and penetrates us. It binds the galaxy together in different." I explained as they looked towards me, where R2-D2 started beeping.
"Now, let's see if we can't figure out what you are, my little friend. And where you come from!" Ben said, with us knowing the answer already.
"I saw part of the message he was..."
Luke is cut short as the recorded image of the beautiful young Rebel princess was projected from R2-D2.
"I seem to have found it." Ben answered as we looked at her.
"General Kenobi, years ago you served my father in the Clone Wars. Now he begs you to help him in his struggle against the Empire. I regret that I am unable to present my father's request to you in person, but my ship has fallen under attack and I'm afraid my mission to bring you to Alderaan has failed. I have placed information vital to the survival of the Rebellion into the memory systems of this R2 unit. My father will know how to retrieve it. You must see this droid safely delivered to him on Alderaan. This is our most desperate hour. Help me, Obi-Wan Kenobi, you're my only hope." Leia said as she reached down, where there was static, and the transmission was cut short.
Ben leans back and scratches his head. He silently puffs on a tarnished chrome water pipe. Luke on the other hand, had stars in his eyes. "You must learn the ways of the Force if you're to come with me to Alderaan." Ben said, with me stepping up to him.
"No, you are too weak!" I said, where he turned to face me. "You go out there, you will die! I will go alone; I can do this!" I said, where he shook his head.
"No, we will go." Ben answered, standing up. "This is not a debate." He said, where I could tell that he knew he was going to die, but it wasnt my place to get in his way.
"Alderaan? I'm not going to Alderaan. I've got to go home. It's late, I'm in for it as it is." Luke said as he stood up.
"I need your help, Luke. She needs your help. I'm getting too old for this sort of thing." Ben said, with me backing away from him and heading to my room to gather my weapon.
"I can't get involved! I've got work to do! It's not that I like the Empire. I hate it! But there's nothing I can do about it right now. It's such a long way from here." I heard Luke as I picked my lightsaber off the wall as I hung it up there next to a picture of my family.
"That's your uncle talking." Ben argued as I placed a hand on the picture as it was time for me to search for them as well, as out mission was now over.
"Oh, God, my uncle. How am I ever going to explain this?" Luke said as I left the room and stood in the living room with them.
"Learn about the Force, Luke." Ben said once more, almost begging him.
"Look, I can take you as far as Anchorhead. You can get a transport there to Mos Eisley or wherever you're going." Luke said, with me agreeing with this as he wasnt ready.
"You must do what you feel is right." I said, where they turned to face me. "But, if the empire knows of the droids, then they will hunt them down until they find them. They will come with us. I am sorry." I said as I watched him look at both droids.
