Forced

Chapter 1

Tim and Lucy were lying in bed together like every other morning when the alarm went off

Lucy: Do we really have to get up? I want to just stay right here with you like this forever.

Tim: I know you do babe; I wish we could too. But unless you want to risk losing your job you really should be getting up.

Lucy: Oh no that reminds me I was supposed to be at the station early this morning.

Lucy quickly jumped out of bed and threw on some clothes

Tim: What why?

Lucy: I don't have time to explain, but if you can find me, please before going to your office, I really need to talk to you about something important and I want you to hear it from me first.

Tim: Babe, you're scaring me. What's going on.

Lucy: Find me at the station

Tim: Lucy

Lucy: I gotta run. Bye

And with that she was out the door before Tim even had a chance to process what had just happened. Tim didn't have to be at work for another ten hours so he slowly got out of bed, jumped into the shower and refused to let himself stress about what it is that Lucy wanted to discuss. Tim dried off and got dressed and then went to the kitchen to prepare himself breakfast. He slowly went through the motions of the day and had just started to prepare dinner for Lucy for when she got home, when his phone rang, it was Angela

Tim: Lopez hi

Angela: Look, there is no easy way to say

Tim: Lucy, is Lucy, okay?

Angela: Come to the station now and meet me in the parking lot. This needs to be discussed in person before you walk into the station

Tim: What the hell is going on? Lucy said she wanted me to find her before going to my office that she had something important to discuss. Is this related?

Angela: I doubt it. I have to run, just get here fast and call me as soon as you do.

Angela hung up and Tim was now past panic mode. What had happened to Lucy. If he was to go to the station and not the hospital, then she had to be okay. Tim tried calling Lucy's phone but every time he called it kept going straight to voicemail. His brain was going a million miles an hour as he got his stuff, left the apartment and drove as fast as he could to the station. He called Angela as soon as he pulled in.

Tim: Lopez, I'm here.

Angela: I'm coming.

Tim waited for a minute before the passenger door opened and Angela got in.

Angela: Go find an empty parking lot and we will talk there.

Tim stared at Angela in shock and confusion

Angela: I will explain, but not here

Tim quickly drove a couple blocks away and jerked the car into park as soon as he found a quiet empty lot.

Tim: What is going on?

Angela: Lucy's been arrested

Tim: What do you mean arrested? Arrested for what?

Angela: Drug possession, vehicular manslaughter and impersonating a cop.

Tim: What are you talking about? This is making no sense

Angela: Lucy was driving to work this morning when she got pulled over by Nolan and Thorsen because her tail lights were out.

Tim: What do you mean they were out? Her car is in perfect working condition. I have been taking care of it every week for the past year. I checked her car 2 days ago and her lights worked just fine.

Angela: I don't know Tim. Lucy showed her badge and they were going to let her off with a warning when they were told by dispatch that her license plate was being flagged as a car that was used in a homicide.

Tim: That's insane.

Angela: That's what Nolan thought so he called Grey who came to the scene but when he got there the Chief of police was already there and had called in a CSI team to process her car before letting her go. When the K-9's came they went crazy so they opened the trunk and found 5 kilos of black tar heroin inside of it

Tim: The more you keep talking the less sense this is all making. Why didn't anyone call me from the scene?

Angela: The Chief said that as her boyfriend you would not be allowed to talk to her until after she was processed.

Tim: Okay, so then what?

Angela: The chief forced Nolan to cuff Lucy and arrest her. She was screaming and crying saying that this was all a mistake that it wasn't her drugs but the Chief said that there will be time later for her to make her case and for now the chief took away her gun and badge.

Tim: This is crazy

Angela: It gets worse

Tim: How?

Angela: When they brought Lucy back to the station the chief refused to allow any of us to question her as she felt that we are all too close with Lucy to be objective. She questioned Lucy herself

Tim: Since when does the chief question suspects?

Angela: I don't know, I guess since the suspect in question was a cop, she felt like it was her place. At first Lucy refused to talk but finally she gave in and said she would only talk to the chief if Harper or me was present. The chief said she wouldn't allow me in the interrogation as I am your best friend so they let Harper sit in. I don't know all the details Tim, but when Nyla came ou she was very angry and told me to call Wesley asap. I had called him the moment Lucy was arrested.

Tim: Thank you.

Angela: Wesley went in and spoke with her for almost and hour. When he came out, he said that for now he was charging her unless we can prove her innocence.

Tim: That's crazy? Why would he charge her.

Angela: Wesley said that when he spoke with her, Lucy confessed to all of it. To killing the guy, to owning the drugs.

Tim: Lucy's never done drugs, she is not a dealer.

Angela: Tim, Lucy told Wesley that she has been running drugs across the border from Mexico for the past 6 years

Tim: What!

Angela: She has been working with the cartel the entire time she has been a cop.

Tim: This makes no sense.

Angela: Lucy told Wesley that she never wanted to be a cop but her bosses wanted to have an inside person within the department and who better than the nicest, smartest lady in the operation.

Tim: Angela stop. Stop this is lies! All of it.

Angela: Tim, I wish it were. She wrote you a letter and asked Wesley to pass it on.

Tim: give it to me.

Angela took the envelope out of her bag and handed it to Tim. Tim took the letter and began to read.

Dear Tim,

If you're reading this letter, then it means that I've been caught. I have confessed to the crimes that they are accusing me of and I know that this will cause you a lot of pain and for that I am sorry. I never meant for it to go this far. I assume you have a million questions and I hope to one day be able to answer all of them. Baby, I love you more than life itself, never forget that and never give up on me.

With all my love,

Lucy
