Just a small thing I cooked up. I'm considering writing a proper crossover between RWBY and Star Wars. More specifically, RWBY and Fallen Order since Cal's age and powerset means that he doesn't trump the RWBY characters. He has his strengths and weaknesses and can be balanced in this world. Except the lightsaber. That thing just tears through Grimm and Aura like a hot knife through butter.
This led to me coming up with various ideas, the biggest one being the RWBY cast learning how to harness the force and Weiss, for a variety of reasons, leaning towards Dark Side force abilities. Then I got really interested in Weiss using her Dark Side abilities to accomplish her benevolent goals and whether this will make her fall or not.
Weiss kept a mask of neutrality as she regarded the board of directors. She'd seen them all even before taking up the position of CEO proper. She'd been the heiress ever since Winter had gone against Father's wishes.
She knew how they looked at her. They thought of her as a child they could easily exploit, someone naive they could keep satisfied with platitudes and empty promises. They assumed their age and connections demanded they be respected regardless of their actions.
Their opinions of her only worsened when she officially took up the position after her father's arrest. It was a bit of a scramble. Rather than stepping down gracefully after handing the position to Weiss, he'd suddenly announced a whole list of crimes he was responsible for. Corruption, fraud, and deals with Mantle's criminal elements...enough to ensure that he'd be put away for life. He'd even shown proof of his misdeeds as he apologized for everything.
It was a scandal that caused ripples through Atlas, especially after the cuffs had been placed on him and he'd suddenly started screaming that he didn't mean any of it and that something had twisted his mind. Regardless, the proof spoke for itself and father was hauled off to prison while Weiss became the CEO at the ripe old of nineteen. Right now they were determining whether he should be placed in prison or an asylum dependent on whether he could convince them his confession was a bout of temporary insanity.
Father always had been weak-minded. So greedy and power-hungry, and yet he had no determination or willpower. He'd married into power and perverted her grandfather's legacy for the sake of his own selfishness. He always took the easy way out, never willing to face or struggle against adversity.
That made it oh so simple to twist his mind and make him do what she wanted.
It was a shame to have to stop her education at Beacon, but she knew what she had to do. The suffering of the people - Humans and Faunus alike - from the SDC's corruption mattered more than her personal desires. She'd done her best to do just that, telling the rest of the board in no uncertain terms that things would be run differently and yet they could all still profit while not exploiting the people that worked for them.
It didn't take them long to start going behind her back. Pocketing money meant for safety renovations, violently breaking up protests, or outright trying to find ways to remove her from her position. They resented her. More than once she'd heard them sneer and scoff at her, ranting about how they had children older than she was and that she wouldn't last long if she kept up her 'doomed crusade'.
And so she called a meeting. They thought her a child? She would prove them wrong.
"Ladies and gentlemen of the board, let's get down to brass tacks." Her eyes narrowed by the slightest amount as she watched each of them, feeling all their negative emotions swirling around her strong enough to smother. Many of them were considering the idea of killing her if they thought they could get away with it, "I'm well-aware of what you've been doing and I'm here to issue a warning. If you think that you can continue your corrupt practices, think again. I'm not my father, nor am I someone you can ignore."
"Ms. Schnee, you're-"
Weiss raised her left hand and clenched it into a tight fist.
All at once, their resentment, anger, and disdain changed to a singular feeling: fear. All eight members of the board gasped and clawed at their throats, eyes bulging as they desperately scratched for the invisible noose around their necks. Gone was the sense of superiority and control. What remained instead were pathetic cowards desperately trying to plead for their lives.
"Let me make one thing clear," she said, voice rising through their desperate gasps for air, "I gave you all a chance despite knowing of all your crimes. I didn't have to do so, and yet you all repaid me by spitting in my face. I'd be well-within my rights to ensure none of you can do it again."
Their fear became downright palpable now. Weiss' lips curled in a sneer and she considered ending this charade once and for all. They'd more than deserved it. Bandits and criminals outside the walls were executed as a matter of course and every single man and woman here had more than enough blood on their hands to justify their deaths. It was only by their wealth and connections that they avoided justice for their crimes.
Her eyes turned from crystal blue to bright yellow.
She almost clenched her fist again before she remembered Cal's words. How the Dark Side was a slippery slope of addiction and justifications. She looked at each of their faces once more, all silently pleading for their lives, and lowered her hand.
All at once they collapsed onto their seats or the floor, desperately gasping for the air they'd been so deprived of. Weiss didn't notice her eyes turning back from yellow to blue, "Consider this all your final warning," she said, uncaring of their haggard states, "Any more attempts to subvert me or harm our employees because your own greed and apathy won't be tolerated."
With that, she turned on her heel and walked out of the door, leaving the board to stew in their own fear and helplessness. Weiss looked down at her left hand and let out a shuddering breath. She'd always meant for it to be just a warning, and yet she couldn't deny the temptation to end their lives. And who could blame her? They would've done the same to her if their positions had been reversed.
...
Weiss shook her head and closed her eyes to calm herself. She needed to see Cal. Perhaps talking to him would clear her mind.
Like I said, it's just one scene for now but I do have some other ideas in the works. Just need to consider proper story beats: why do the RWBY cast gain force powers, can Cal use Aura or is it unique to people from Remnant, Cal/Weiss romance or not etc etc.
Might post other snippets in the future. I've got ideas that might be interesting:
- Weiss first using the Dark Side after she nearly gets killed by Banesaw.
- Cal and BD-1 working for Pietro while bonding with Penny and musing about Penny's soul/connection to the Force.
- Ruby harnessing her Silver Eyes earlier than normal by internalizing the Jedi's beliefs.
- Cinder or Adam finding out about the force and going straight Sith crazy in their power hunger.
Other ideas are on the table, but we'll see.
