Chapter One: A Miraculous Birth at Summerhall.
Disclaimer: We do not Own Naruto and ASOIAF even though we wish we did.
XxxxxxxX
A heavy smell of brimstone and a roaring cackling of the untamable fire provided warmth for the cold halls of Summerhall. The Purple eyes of the Targaryen king stared into the flames with a wanton desire that was almost maddening.
A strong hand placed itself on his shoulder breaking him from his mesmerized state. He looked over his shoulder at his long time friend and companion Ser Duncan the Tall. Duncan was a Mountain of a man standing at 7 feet tall, he had a face that looked like it belonged to a Northerner with his shoulder length brown hair mixed with mostly grey and strict but stern features.
"Egg? Are you okay?" Duncan asked the King with a worried expression when there was no response right away.
"I'm fine old friend, Finally after all these years the Targaryens will take to the skies once more as we were meant to" The king replied to his friend with a frenzied excitement on his face. The look of joy was comparable to the first time a boy lays with a whore or when a squire is finally promoted to Knight.
"Are you sure you want to go through with this? What if it goes out of control?" Duncan asked with a worried tone. Aegon smiled and shook his head, his silver hair moving along with his movements.
"Worry not my old friend. Fire and blood runs through our veins. This is our destiny" Aegon said with an impassioned voice.
"Grandsire everything is ready for the ritual" Aerys said to his grandfather the King with a respectful bow. The king simply nodded towards his Grandson.
Aegon glanced from the corner of his eye, standing next to Aerys was his granddaughter Rhaella holding her swollen stomach showing signs in the upcoming days that she would be giving birth.
"Grandaughter are you well? How is the babe?" Aegon asked with a hint of concern towards the future of House Targaryen that was resting in her belly.
Rhaella gently rubbed her large belly with a look of melancholy. She could feel little kicks with every brush of her hand, bringing a light smile to her full lips.
"I feel fine, Grandsire" Rhaella replied, She looked over to the fire before turning her eyes back to her Grandfather "But I have been having queer dreams lately"
"Visions?" Aegon inquired with an interested look on his face, If his Granddaughter was having dragon dreams this could only be a sign that soon their destiny was upon them. It had been quite awhile since anybody within House Targaryen had displayed the ability.
"I-I am unsure" Rhaella said with a slightly nervous tone as she looked down at her stomach.
"Describe them to me" asked the King as he returned his gaze back to flames.
"I- '' Rhaella hesitated at first before continuing when her brother-husband placed his hand on her shoulder "I saw a terrifying battle in the sky, there were two large Dragons clashing against one another. One was shrouded in darkness and the other was emblazoned in Light"
Aegon was in quiet thought at his Granddaughter's troubling words. He thought back to The Dance of Dragons that nearly tore House Targaryen apart.
"Grandsire?" Aerys called out to the old King, breaking him of his thoughts.
Hearing his grandson Aegon quickly dismissed the thought and continued on with his plan.
"There's nothing to fear. We will continue ahead with the plan" The King's word was law, no one would refuse him or could refuse him.
XxxxxxX
It had all started out so perfectly. The Dragon eggs had lain in the cauldron, a perfect mixture of fire and blood to awaken them from their stone prisons.
So how was it, that Summerhall was engulfed in red hot flames that melted the stones of the great Targaryen hall.
Aegon looked down at his bloody hand, caused by his own doing. He had thought of everything needed but in a fate fit of irony sent by the Gods themselves, it had all gone up in flames.
"Aegon!" A firm shake of his shoulder broke the King from his stupor. He turned to his old friend, Duncan who was no worse for wear but worries ever growing "We have to get out of here! It's collapsing around us!"
Aegon broke through his previous stupor and with a firm voice fit for a King, gave one last order to his old friend.
"Save my family, ensure my Grandchildren make it out of here" Duncan gazed at his old friend with sadness, perhaps even some reluctance at the choice that had to be made but nodded his head and started to make his way towards where the rest of the Royal Family were located.
He moved to Rhaella, careful as he picked up the pregnant Princess and carried her in his arms. He looked over to the panicking Aerys.
"This way!" He yelled to the panicking prince and made his way through the debris while carefully carrying the princess with ease. He eventually made it outside the burning castle with Aerys following behind him.
They arrived to see that the Maester, Prince Jaehearys and his Sister-Wife Princess Shaera had made it outside already.
"Lord Commander!, please place the princess by the clearing over here" The Maester said to the commander of the Kingsguard.
Duncan placed the princess on the grass clearing carefully before making his way towards the crumbling ruins.
"I am going back in to see if I can save the King" Duncan said to Prince Jaehearys, Jaehearys nodded his head at the Lord Commander and watched him charge bravely back into the flaming ruins of the castle.
"Aghh!" Rhaella gave out a large cry of pain as she started clutching her stomach as she suddenly felt the signs of the approaching child.
"The child! It's coming!" said the Maester as he made his way towards where the princess was laying to assist her in giving birth to the child.
"Rhaella!" Shaera shouted as she ran to her daughters side to provide her with support. They guided her to the nearby large tree and had her lean against it.
The pain of giving birth was excruciating, it made the woman currently leaning back against the large tree, pale as the moon and drenched in sweat she cursed all those around her, even the Gods themselves.
Shaera continued to support her daughter to the best of her abilities, kneeling on the soft grass as she took her hand, whispering words of encouragement only a fellow sufferer of childbirth could.
"Nghhhhh!" Rhaella cried as she used every ounce of her strength to push.
"Another big push, my Princess. I can see the child's head!" She gave one last cry and pushed with all her strength that she could summon within her body.
"It's here" the Maester said as the child came into this world.
"Aggh!" Rhaella felt another kick from within her stomach as the pain continued to persist.
"Twins?" Shaera said with a surprised look on her face, she grasped her daughter's hand and encouraged her to push.
Rhaella summoned the last of her depleted strength and continued to push. The pain shot through her body like a blade piercing her abdomen and caused her to grit her teeth as she experienced pure agony.
Her eyes started to grow heavy as the burden of giving birth to twins finally took its toll on her consciousness as she slumped back from the pain briefly hearing the distressed call of her name from her mother.
She found herself back within the dream, it looked exactly as it did the previous times she had this dream though this time she could feel the flames from the battle between the two titanic dragons that clashed in the sky. Each flap from the beast's leather wings felt harsher than the greatest storms within the stormlands and their roar shook the very earth beneath her feet.
"Was this what it was like within Old Valyria when two great dragonlords clashed astride the great old beasts of the freehold…" she pondered to herself as she continued to watch the clash of these magnificent titans.
As her purple coloured eyes took in the great battle, a pain or rather more of an ache struck her heart as she felt great sadness at the clash happening between the two but could not explain as to why she felt this way.
Her eyes were drawn to one of the riders feeling a connection that she couldn't explain but cherished with everything in her being.
"Naruto…." She could hear a faint whisper on the wind of what sounded like a name as continued to gaze at the dragon rider.
She awoke from her dream or perhaps vision? She couldn't be sure. All Rhaella knew was she could feel the heat from the burning castle, her loins ached an ungodly pain but she could feel her mothers tender touch.
Shaera brushed her daughter's damp hair out of her red, panting face"It's over now my sweet girl. Twin Sons, a blessing from the gods themselves"
"How are they?" Rhaella asked, a slight fear they may be deformed or sickly in any way.
"The Maester has looked upon them both. Aerys is holding the first born, giving him the name Rhaegar" The tired princess frowned at her mother's words, more than a little irate at her husband's quick decision. Share was quick to change her daughter's mood as she brought her other child into view "Don't fret my love. The name of your other child is yours to choose"
Rhaella reached out and took her son from her mother. Even wrapped in brown cloth, she could see his silver hair, something he shared with his twin.
She peeled back more layers to see round chubby cheeks, eyes closed as his little lungs wailed. Clearly wanting his mother.
Rhaella gently shushed her child as she brought him to the crook of her neck, holding him just like her mother had shown her.
"Have you thought of a name for the babe Rhaella?"
Yet she didn't hear her mother as she was mesmerized by her beautiful babe resting in her arms for the first time, so small, so fragile but nonetheless perfect, she couldn't help but think perhaps all the pain was worth it.
'I-I don't know if I can do it again, Mother please spare me from such pain again' but the Gods were not as fortunate
Her mind went back to her dream remembering the titanic battle between the two dragons she had seen. The feeling she had felt for the Dragon rider she had seen in her vision started to return and the strange whisper she had heard as she had gazed at the rider during her dream.
'Naruto…' Rhaella thought it sounded strange but she felt it fitted her child perfectly.
"Rhaella?" She heard her name and turned to see her mother was looking at her with an answer to her question of what the name for her child should be.
"Naruto…." Rhaella said while looking at her child with a loving expression, his big purple eyes stared back at her with a curious expression on his face as his small hands reached out to grab a lock of her hair that was hanging close to his face. As she looked down at him and studied his eyes further she could see a hint of blue appear within the babes eyes that reminded her of an unwavering storm.
His tiny fingers reached out and grabbed the lock of hair, playing with the silky silver strand, his joyous laughter felt heavenly to her ears as she smiled down at him.
Aerys stood next to the water, Naruto's twin, Rhaegar securely in his arms. The Prince and heir to The Iron Throne slowly looked back to the burning castle. Ser Duncan had yet to return with his Grandsire, he could only assume both had perished in the fire and that too meant so had the Dragon eggs.
The Prince bowed his head in respect and in pain, it had all been for nothing…or so he had thought until something moved in the fire. He feared his grief was causing his mind to play tricks on him but he couldn't explain it. Aerys walked towards the burning castle, almost in a trance.
He stopped before the heat of the flames could become too unbearable for himself and his newborn. He squinted his eyes as he gazed deeply into the smoke and the fire of the burning castle. Aerys almost felt like he could make out small shadows moving within the flames.
His trance-like state was broken as he heard tiny screeches coming from within the flames. The sound froze him to the spot but his heart was racing 'It couldn't be…'
His heart jumped within his chest as the shadows he saw within the flames rushed towards him, emerging from the flames were two small baby Dragons.
The first Dragon had black and red scales with deep orange eyes, much slimmer in appearance than its brethren, built for speed then power. The beautiful tiny creature had two small slim wings with an almost flat thin neck, four horizontal spike like protrusions on the side of its head.
The Second Dragon has bright red scales with a white almost silver underbelly, its wings were quite reminiscent of a bat in their appearance with a larger and thicker neck then the previous Dragon. Completing the baby Dragons look were two small horns on its head that would continue to grow the older it got.
"Dragons…"
Those of the Targaryen Household stared in astonishment as the small creatures crawled towards Aerys and Rhaegar.
It would seem their loss wasn't for naught, while they may have lost Summerhall and their King in the pursuit for these marvelous beasts, some would say that was an even trade for a Dragon.
Aerys found himself almost in a trance, having enough sense to hand his newborn to the Maestar before slowly walking to the hissing and roaring tiny beasts.
He took a knee, silver hair falling around his dirty, sweating face. He placed his palms flat on the earth, nearly jumping as hot scales and small claws traveled across his skin, along his arms until they rested securely on his shoulders.
Aerys looked to see his father approaching him with a shocked expression at seeing the dragon's resting on his shoulders. Jaehaerys stared in fascination at the mythical creatures resting on his son's shoulders, it seemed that the ritual his father had performed ended up succeeding but he wondered if they may have paid too high of a price for it.
"He did it. He really did it…" Jaehaerys whispered in astonishment. It was every Targaryen's dream to see a Dragon in the flesh since the extinction during the Dance of Dragons. It was said to be a lost dream of a past never to return.
Yet Dragon's once again lived….a second chance they couldn't afford to lose.
"What shall you do with them my son?" Aerys thought on his fathers question. It was no accident both his sons were born on the day two Dragon eggs hatched, Rhaella's dream was coming true but that also meant his two sons were the dragonriders destined to fight one another.
Such a thought stabbed the father in the heart. Just born and already the Gods have decided to bestow a cruel fate on his sons. A cruel fate perhaps he could avoid…
"It seems fate has blessed us once more. I and my son, Rhaegar, heir and future King shall both possess Dragons" Aerys said with pride, the fire illuminated his form and just for a moment, he looked like a King.
In the back of his mind, all he could think about was stopping that dreaded dream from coming true.
XxxxxxX
Loud footsteps echoed throughout the massive halls as a child eight name days old ran through the ancient walls of the Red Keep. His silver hair fluttered back and forth as he ran through the halls with great speed, his deep purple sparkling with life and joy.
His feet carried him to two large double doors that had two Kingsguard standing guard at the front of the doors.
"Prince Naruto…" One of the kingsguard greeted the prince as he arrived at the doors. He was a man of average height standing proudly in his kingsguard armour. He was a man of dornish descent without a doubt from his bronze skin to his black hair and his hazel eyes that gleamed welcomingly at the sight of the prince that showed great promise.
"Ser Luwin…" Naruto smiled up at the kingsguard and nodded his head in acknowledgement.
The former Dornish Prince's eyes drifted down to Naruto's hand to see two training swords clutched within his possession.
"I see you're wanting to convince your brother into having another sparring session" Luwin said to the prince, the silver haired boy's eagerness plain as day.
"Yeah I'm almost ready to face Ser Barristan!" Naruto shouted with an excited tone to his voice. The Kindguard chuckled loudly at his declaration, if only he knew how far he really had to go to reach what many considered impossible to achieve.
"Is Rhaegar still stuck in his stories?" Naruto asked with a frown. Rhaegar shouldn't be stuck in the dark with his books and fretting over ancient tales.
"The Prince has been here since dawn" Luwin replied to the younger twin Prince's question.
"Well that's no good. Rhaegar will become a Maestar before a King at this rate" Naruto said jokingly although the Dornishmen could detect a hint of frustration with the Royal's voice.
The Kingsguard opened the door for the prince who nodded one last time at the Dornish warrior and entered the grand royal library, filled with nothing but books, scripts and structures.
Naruto found his brother quite quickly, sitting on the finest furniture royalty could own, a small mountain of books by his side. Rhaegar seemed deep in thought, his eyes glazed.
Rhaegar, while similar to his brother in appearance, still looked completely different to his twin. They both shared silver hair and eyes of purple but Rhaegar's face was more slim, his lips just a little larger and his eyes just a bit more softer.
"Rhaegar!" The oldest twin was broken out of his daze, looking at his brother with what could only be described as annoyance. "Lēkia, māzigon bodmagho lēda nyke (Brother, come train with me)"
"What is it Naruto?" Naruto frowned at Rhaegar's tone, his hands tightening around the handles of the two training swords.
"I thought perhaps we could spend some time together. Train and spar together like we used…" it seemed maybe for a moment his honest words affected his brother. His hard look softened and his frown thinned into a line.
"I'm sorry Naruto but not today. I wish to read" Naruto disappointment was shown as clear as day, hurt that Rhaegar didn't want to spend any time with him.
"Rhaegar…why must you spend everyday around these stupid books! Why do they mean more to you than me?!" Naruto shouted at his brother with an angry tone.
"Perhaps it's because they're not as much of an annoyance as you! Why must you bother me so much?! I wonder why the Gods cursed me to be your twin!" Rhaegar didn't realize what he had said until he saw the heartbreak on his brother's face, what may be the faint inkling of a tear in the corner of his eye.
"Fine, stay here and rot for all I care" Naruto threw down the training swords with snarl, turning his back on his brother and storming out the library before Rhaegar could so much as utter a word. Wiping his cheek with his sleeve.
The heir to the Iron Throne sat alone, his head bowed as his hands tightened around the book in his hand.
'Naruto…I…I didn't mean it'
(The Queen's Private chambers)
The Chamber was a large well lit room with opulent decorations with various Valyrian decorations and Targaryen sigils and heraldry. The room contained countless luxuries that a lady could ever need. The Handmaidens of the queen were spread out across the room either doing various tasks or waiting on the Queen.
Looking out from the balcony of her chamber, the Queen gazed out at the city with a soft smile. With her chambers being so high up in the Red Keep the smell of the city could not reach her thus she was able to enjoy the view of the city without the horrid stench reaching her. Since giving birth to her children Rhaella had only grown in Beauty, The blood of Old Valyria ran strong in her as she possessed the expected and beautiful silver hair of a Targaryen, no longer did she keep it braided like she did in her youth. Now it flowed long like a silver silk waterfall, dancing in the wind and flowing down her back in luscious strides. She possessed the enchanting purple eyes that were said to be more alluring than any in her family bar her daughter. Her figure had grown more mature, desirable and voluptuous with age like a fine wine from the Arbor.
Her soulful lilac eyes gazed down at the city as she thought on her husband's recent behavior. Aerys had recently been acting more and more oddly in the past year and it had worried her on the effects it could have on not only the kingdom but more importantly their family. The man who early in his reign had been outgoing and gregarious had become more and more reclusive each passing day.
Her thoughts were interrupted as the door to her chambers were loudly opened with a bang as her second son barged into her chambers and made his way to one of the many luxurious lounges that were about her chambers. Naruto grumbled before plopping face first into the soft cushion, the handmaidens giggled at the prince's antics before being dismissed with a wave by Rhaella. The Queen left her place at the balcony to be with her child clearly wanting comfort. The silver haired prince didn't fight as his mother gently lifted his head and then placed it on her lap, running her thin delicate fingers through his hair as she cooed in high Valyrian.
"What is the matter with my sunfyre?"
"Rhaegar." The mother shook her head, it was always the same with her boys. One always doing something to upset the other.
"And what did Rhaegar do?" Rhaella inquired with a small smile on her face as she continued running her hands through her son's hair.
"Being himself" Rhaella giggles, caused a smile to bleed onto Naruto's frowning lips, his mother's laughter makes his heart soar and his previous bad mood diminish until it was almost nothing "He was stuck in his silly books again"
"And why is that such a bad thing? Hm?"
Naruto was surprised by his mother's question, immediately thinking she would take his side.
"Because he doesn't want to train or spend time with me!"
"Naruto my sweet little Sunfyre….You must understand both yourself and Rhaegar are different people. You both enjoy different things." Rhaella decided on a different approach as her sweet boy still didn't seem to quite understand "Naruto you know that feeling you get when you are done with your training? How happy and satisfied you feel?"
"Yeah…"
"Have you thought perhaps that's how Rhaegar feels with his books? Have you tried reading with Rhaegar instead of taking him out to play or train?" Rhaella pointed out with a smile.
"Hmm… I guess you're right" Naruto said with a grumble "But he still shouldn't have been such a prick."
"Naruto! You shouldn't call your older twin brother such things" Rhaella said with a stern tone as she scolded her son.
"He's only older by a few minutes…." Naruto muttered. Rhaella shook her head and smiled at her son's behavior.
Naruto raises his head from his mothers lap and looks towards one of the Tapestries hanging on the wall of her mothers bedroom. The tapestry depicted the Great Dragon Balerion the Black Dread. His form magnificent with his large dark wings spread wide, red-eyes the colour of rubies glared down at the small Targaryen boy and a fire that could only be described as death itself seeping from his parted maw.
Naruto found himself in a trance as he left his mother's side, lilac eyes staring longingly as he reached out with his small hand, fingers grazing the painted beautiful black scales of Balerion. A sigh of disappointment left his lips as he pulled his hand away, his mother gazed at him in an empathetic way, understanding his feeling quite well.
Every Targaryen wanted a dragon. It was in their blood to bond with the outstanding beasts and soar through the sky. The wind in their hair and the sun shining down upon their face. Closer to the gods then any man had been before. Rhaella just like her Sunfyre wished for her own Dragon, to fly and be free…
The Queen pinched her dress as she rose from her comfortable position, in a few steps kneeling by her son, cupping his small chin in her hand "Sweetling." But he wouldn't look at her, so she tried again "Sunfyre…"
That did it. His big eyes looked up at her with a single question being expressed by one look. Why? Why didn't he have a dragon? Why was Rhaegar allowed a Dragon but he wasn't? Why didn't he get to be free?
Such questions broke her heart for she knew the answer to be cruel and unfair. She gently cupped the back of his head and guided him to rest upon her breast, specifically where her heart was. Naruto leaned into her warm embrace and allowed his mothers warmth to wash up all the self doubt and negative thoughts plaguing him but the want for a dragon still beated in his heart.
"It doesn't take a Dragon for a Targaryen to be great, my Sunfyre." Rhaella said as she reassured her son, gently rubbing his back as she comforted him in her bosom.
"Your ancestors have demonstrated that before, Daeron the Good was responsible for ending the constant wars with Dorne, Your great grandfather Aegon the Fifth brought dragons back into this world with his sacrifice and Lord Bloodraven who ended the first Blackfyre rebellion. All of them didn't have any Dragons yet they managed to achieve great things. Just like I know you will as well." Rhaella said with a loving and soothing tone as she comforted her son. Naruto listened to his mother's reassuring words, melting into her embrace as she started to hum the sweetest of melodies, he was sure he heard this as a babe and it lured him into a comfort he couldn't describe.
Rhaella started to sing, her voice far finer then even the best Minstrel's Westeros had to offer, her voice soft and heavenly to the ears "Fire breather, Winged leader but two heads, to a third sing, From my voice: The fires have spoken and the price has been paid, with blood magic, with words of flame, with clear eyes, to bind the three, to you I sing, as one we gather and with three heads we shall fly as we were destined. Beautifully, freely"
Unaware, the mother and son were being watched by mischievous lilac eyes, unmistakably similar to all the Targaryen's before them. A loud slam echoed throughout Rhaella chambers, the Queen jumped before shooting her daughter a look "Shaena!"
A young girl of six name days appeared out of the hallway and into her Mother's awaiting embrace, crashing into Naruto with a giggle. Naruto smiled as his younger sister glomped him with a hug and hugged her back. Shaena possessed the familiar valyrian traits of her house with silver blonde hair and deep enchanting lilac eyes. Many compared the princess's looks to how her mother looked when she was her age with the two looking near identical. Many assumed she would grow up to be just as beautiful as her mother one day.
"Dreamfyre….How many times have told you not to barge in like that, it's not very becoming of a Lady especially a Princess." Rhaella said with a stern but loving tone.
"I know mother, twenty four times to be exact." The princess replied with a cheeky tone to her mother who shook her head with a smile. Shaena quickly rushed with an excited hop and grabbed her brother's hand and started to drag him off towards the door she had just crashed through.
"Where are you taking your poor brother now?" Rhaella asked with an amused expression at her daughter's antics and her son's futile efforts to try and resist his sister from dragging him off to gods know where.
"Somewhere fun."
Naruto didn't think her tone suggested anything fun at all, rather she'll find a way to get him into trouble but he let his sister drag him along nonetheless "Bye Mother, I'll see you later."
"Be safe." Rhaella whispered with a fond look towards her young dragon's. They didn't respond but she knew they heard her all the same. With a quiet sigh, the Queen of the seven kingdoms returned to her perch, watching over the city, unable to stop thinking about her best friend who she had dismissed and sent back home due to her husband's scandalous behavior as well as his indiscretions.
XxxxxxxxX
Candle light guided the Targaryen children through the dark, Naruto felt no fear as Shaena was his guide. They made their way through the many corridors of the Red Keep before his sister dragged him through what looked to be a dark hidden tunnel, Naruto recalled hearing about this in his lessons with the Maester. The Old man had told him of how Maegor the cruel had built various tunnels throughout the Red Keep. Naruto was impressed with his sister's ability to find and navigate these tunnels. He had a feeling he knew where she was taking him and he was right, the silver haired princess had taken him before the skull of the great and mighty Balerion.
The most famous Dragon of their house, belonging to the most famous man. Aegon Targaryen, their ancestor who had dared to unite Westeros and achieve a feat most thought impossible.
Yet through Blood and Fire he had made it possible and built a dynasty that had lasted generations even though said dynasty had nearly torn itself apart with the Dance of Dragons.
The two siblings stopped in front of the great dragon's skull, Naruto gazed longingly at the Skull of the Black dread as his sister lit the candles laid around the skull illuminating the room. His sister stepped forward having finished lighting the candles and grabbed his hands.
"Mother's not the only one who understands how you feel Naruto, I understand as well" Shaena said with an empathetic tone to her brother who looked at his sister with a slightly shocked expression before he smiled and nodded at his sister.
"Your not the only one who wants to fly a dragon" Shaena said as Naruto followed her gaze towards the great skull of Balerion, imagining the great beast in the sky with its obsidian wings carrying its gigantic body, creating a colossal shadow that covered entire towns and blanketed the sky in a great darkness.
His roars shaked the foundations of great glorious castles like Stormsend and carried across the kingdoms like a thunderous wave. There was a reason why Balerion was the most famous and feared of the Dragons within the world.
In these close vulnerable Shaena empathized with her brother even though he didn't realize it she understood him better then most of the people around them. Like her brother she wanted to be free and explore and fly through the sky on the great beasts like her ancestors had done in the past. She had heard tales of Visenya, her ancestor who rode the great dragon Vhagar and could best nearly any warrior of her time with her Valyrian steel sword, Dark Sister.
Oh how she wished to feel the wind rushing through her hair, the sun shining down on her skin. Shaena belonged in the skies…she just knew it. She often felt restrained and constricted within her life with many expecting her to take up the normal duties expected of a princess but Shaena did not just want to be a princess forced to marry some lord who probably wouldn't even care about her.
"I always wanted to be like Visenya ever since mother started reading the stories to us" Shaena said as she looked towards her big brother, who was now looking at her with an intrigued expression. "I want to be free to fly my own Dragon and fight on the battlefield just like she did "
She expected her brother to laugh at her desire or perhaps even say it was 'Silly' like Rhaegar had done. Instead he simply smiled, looking at her in a loving way "Why would you need to learn such things when you would have your big brother to protect you?"
"Who says I want you to protect me? What if I want to protect you and mother? Have you ever thought about that?" Shaena sassily replied l, resting her balled up fists on her hips as she raised a silver brow, her lilac eyes daring Naruto to defy her.
The young Prince was sure that his adorable sister was a second Visenya in the making. Wild and fierce but loyal and strong. A fine quality for an upcoming Targaryen woman.
"You probably think it's silly like Rhaegar…" Naruto frowned at her hurt tone but he missed the mischievous twinkle in her eye. While he was concerned with what his foolish twin said to her, he was unknowingly playing into her hands.
"What did he say?" Naruto asked with a bit of an angry tone to his voice as he thought of having a word with his brother later on.
"He said 'I'll never be like her and nobody could train me to be like Visenya, even if they had a hundred years'." Shaena said with a pout acting like a lady in distress covering her eyes with the back of her arm but leaving enough room to still see her brother.
"Oh, did he now?" Naruto asked his tone harsher but certainly not directed at his sister. The little lord put his hands on hips, silver brows frowned. It looks like he would need to have a few words with his brother. "Well then, I guess I'll have to train you and prove that prick Rhaegar wrong!"
Shaena hid her smile by wiping her eyes, before tackling into her brother's side with a beaming smile, her plan working perfectly "Oh thank you brother! Thank you! You are the greatest brother ever."
"I am, aren't I?" Naruto said, a sort of smug smile on his lips since in a way his sister said he was better than Rhaegar.
"Well let's go now then!" she said excitedly, grabbing her brother's hand and dragging him out of the hall. As the Targaryen siblings started to make their way out of the hall, the candlelight guided their dark path. They walked past many of the other great dragon skulls within the hall such as Vhagar and Meraxes, as he walked past the skull of the great silver dragon of Rhaenys, for a reason he couldn't explain, he found his eyes were drawn to it.
Almost in a trance his hand reached out towards the skull, placing his palm upon the skull he expected the skull to feel cold like stone but was surprised when he felt a warm sensation almost as if he was putting his hand near a flame.
Naruto was broken from his trance-like state when he felt his sister pull his hand and drag him away from the skull and out of the great hall. The hold Meraxes had over him seemingly broken.
(The Next Day)
Naruto jauntily whistling a tavern favorite or so he overhead heard from the Goldcloaks, the bear and the maiden fair. He stopped his little whistle when he saw his twin heading in his direction, Shae's word's from earlier rung through his mind like an itch that refused to leave, her tearful cries that pierced his heart like a lance.
Rhaegar waved a greeting towards his brother before Naruto cornered his older twin, glaring into his similar lilac eyes. Rhaegar tried to walk past him but found his path blocked by his brother who hadn't stopped glaring at him.
"What is it now?" Rhaegar asked in an annoyed and almost defeated tone, already finding himself tired of his brother's foolishness today.
"I want to know what it is that you said to Shae yesterday," Naruto asked him angrily, His arms crossed over his chest in a hostile pose. Rhaegar had a visible confused expression on his face at what his brother said to him.
"Shaena? What are you talking about? I haven't spoken to her in a few days" Rhaegar said in a confused tone. Naruto looked bewildered as he took a step back and stared at the stone wall and contemplated what his brother had just told him. If Rhaegar hadn't spoken to Shae in a few days then how… His eyes shot open in realization as he connected the dots.
"That clever mischievous little…" Naruto grumbled to himself in a low tone as he finally realized he had been made a fool.
"I see she got you again." Rhaegar said with some snark in his tone.
"Hmnn! Whatever she's not gonna get me again." Naruto replied back crossing his arms again and walked away from his brother and towards his original destination.
He continued towards the small council chambers with his original intent back at the forefront of his mind with his strong desire pushing him forward. As he got closer he could hear the voices of his father and his advisors coming from the small council chambers.
As he walked into the Council chambers he heard the strong firm but knowledgeable voice of his father's greatest advisor Lord Tywin Lannister, Lord of Casterly Rock, Lord Paramount of the Westerlands, Warden of the West and Hand of the King.
Tywin Lannister was a proud and fierce man within his twenties that possessed his family's typical blonde hair and green eyes. He had a blonde mutton-chop beard that Naruto thought looked quite funny and glorious.
"Your Grace the Imports and exports coming from the blackwater have been reducing in the past few months, The free cities seem to be more reluctant to trade as of late." Tywin said to Aerys who didn't look very interested in what his Hand had to say to him simply waving his concerns off and he seemed to be more interested in the parchment in front of him which contained the plan to one of his many failed great projects.
"You are Hand of the King, you should go deal with it" Aerys said dismissively. He reached for a cup of wine on the table and ordered his cupbearer to fill his glass.
"A King does not concern himself with such petty matters" Aerys said, taking a large swig from his chalice and gestures for his cupbearer to fill his cup again.
Before the conversation between the King and his Hand could continue further they saw Naruto approaching them who started to make his way towards his father with a determined expression on his face.
"Father and Lord Tywin Good to see you again" Naruto said addressing his father and his Hand before turning his full attention towards his father and the reason as to why he came here.
"Father…Me and Shaena wish to have Dragon eggs" Naruto asked with a clear and determined tone that surprised both the King and his Hand. Aerys frowned as he heard what his son said to him.
"We already spoke about this boy, you're not getting a Dragon egg and that is final" Aerys said with an annoyed tone at his son bringing this issue back up again.
"But with how your Dragon has grown it's going to have a clutch of new Dragon eggs for us." Naruto argued with his father.
"Us? That is my Dragon boy and its eggs belong to me to distribute how I wish!" Aerys shouted back angrily at his son.
"But it's not fair that you and Rhaegar get to have dragons while we are left with nothing-" Naruto said defiantly to his father before Aerys slammed his fist down on the table interrupting Naruto and startling him at the sign of his fathers fury.
"You do not know what it is that you meddle with Boy!" Aerys said sharply to the young prince, his mind immediately turning to the dream Rhaella had of the two great Dragons battling in the sky.
"I will hear no more of this from you and that is final." Aerys said with a definitive tone.
Naruto gave one last glare at this father before storming out of the council chambers and back to his personal chambers. Tywin watched the Prince leave with his typical stone faced expression but on the inside he contemplated the King's strange decision to deny Dragon eggs to his son.
Dragons were once the Key to the Targaryen power in Westeros and to have them once again had renewed the crowns power over the Seven Kingdoms so for the King to deny more dragon riders to his family was a strange decision to Tywin, One which Tywin felt would come back to bite the King in the future.

Naruto buried his face in his pillow as he wondered why it was that his father continued to refuse and deny Dragons to him and his sister. What did Rhaegar and his father have that allowed them to have Dragons yet he and Shaena were denied at every turn. It was outrageous and unfair.
How can you be a Targaryen and not have a dragon?.
"Dearest Brother~" Shaena called out in an excited and melodic tone rushing into the room in what her mother would call a very unladylike manner. Rushing towards her brother she halted before him as she saw that he was in a despondent mood.
"What do you want, Shaena?" Naruto said in a rather blunt tone something he rarely used with his sister. Shaena realized something was wrong as he only called her by her full name when something was wrong. She gained a cheeky look in her eyes as she addressed her brother.
"What's got you so grumpy today?" She said and gained a cheeky look in her eyes as she addressed her brother. Naruto chose to ignore her and moved away from her slightly.
"Hmph…Come oooon, we don't need another Rhaegar in the family. Tell me what's wrong?" She said as she jumped on his back and wrapped her arms around his chest to keep her from falling, missing the slight 'omph' sound her brother made as she clung to him.
"Fine I'll tell you but get off first." Naruto said, grabbing her arms and getting her to come down from his back. He turned towards her while still holding her hands.
"I spoke with Father earlier today." Naruto spoke with a frown taking form just at the thought of his 'Father'.
"About what?" She asked, interested in what her brother wanted to speak to their father about and why the conversation had dampened his mood.
"I-...I wanted to ask him if we both could have Dragon eggs, I wanted us to be free to fly through the skies again just like our ancestors did in the past" Naruto said in a slight defeated tone with lingering of hope that shined through in his voice and that she could still see in his eyes as she looked into them.
Shaena stared at her brother in surprise and amazement that he would go this far for her, risking her fathers anger and the wrath of the king. She gently squeezed his hand expressing her gratitude silently to her brother. Naruto looked up to see his sister smiling at him, before he could react she leapt at him and put him in a loving embrace.
Naruto grunted in surprise and returned her loving embrace. As she clung tightly to him he gained a small smile on his face but before he could enjoy the moment any further, he remembered why he was cross with his sister.
Shaena felt her brother push her away and turn away from her.
"Sigh what's wrong now?" She asked, trying to get him to face her by pulling his arm. Naruto allowed himself to be turned but kept the frown on his face.
"You tricked me." Naruto muttered in an annoyed tone at her crossing his arms and showing his clear annoyance at her.
"What are you talking about?" She queried, refusing to look him in the eye.
"You know exactly what it is that I'm talking about," Naruto said, disappointed Shae didn't tell him the truth right away.
"'Rhaegar said I'll never be like Visenya'. You lied to me, I saw him and he said you haven't spoken to him in days." Naruto continued on in a tone that clearly demonstrated his disappointment.
"I thought you wouldn't want to train me…" Shaena whispered in a sad tone, finally looking up at her brothers hard to read gaze.
"Have I ever denied you anything before?" He said walking away from her once her lack of response spoke more than enough for her. As she heard his footsteps get further and further away from the room her lilac eyes started to tear up.
Before she could start crying, she once again heard the sound of footsteps on stone and turned around to find her brother at the door with a smile on his face. Two training swords in his hand with his other hand outstretched for her to take.
"Well are you coming or not then my 'Visenya'?" Naruto asked with his hand still outstretched and waiting for her to join him.
She wipes her eyes with her sleeve and takes her brother's hand, a new found graceful smile overtaking her once sad features.
'We might not have dragons but at least we have each other.' The two siblings thought as their hands tightened their hold on each other.
