Session 0:

Eryna Cavalias:

Have you ever been… Afraid for your life…? Like so terrified that you know something is about to happen that will erase who you are? Well that is my life in a nutshell. I was born to a Drow Noble Woman who had, inexplicably, fallen in love with her breeding slave. This love of hers had caused a crisis of faith, which allowed for her to hear the words of Eilistraee, the Drow Goddess of the Moon. Taking a chance, she confessed her love to my father, and they resolved to flee the Underdark together. My Father, despite being a slave, had fallen in love with her as well, for she treated her slaves with care and made sure they were healthy and strong, and allowed them some freedoms, making them loyal.

Thankfully, with the aid of the others, they had managed to escape to the Upper Dark, only for the Drow to catch up with them and, in order to not only save her love, but also myself, who had been born not long before their escape, she wrapped a stone in a swaddling cloth and split from my father, promising to find us. My father made it back to his hometown, where he was the heir to the Lordship over the area. When I turned 8 years old, after hearing about how my father had abandoned my mother, I, like the stupid child I was, decided to travel into the Underdark to rescue my mother.

Unfortunately, due to being ill-prepared, arrogant, and having more courage than sense, I made my was into the Underdark and, somehow, blundered my way into a Mind Flayer Nest. I don't know how long I was down there, but eventually, they brought me before the Elder Brain, where I was to be Ceremorphosized. As the tadpole had been implanted into my eyes… Something strange had happened, the entire nest had shook violently… With a Sapphire Dragon burrowing it's Way into the nest and destroying it. Broken free of any charms, I made my way back to the surface, nearly starving myself as I did. Fortunately, my father had found me, having known where I was going and had come to rescue me.

When we returned to town, I was examined by a Cleric, who had discovered something shocking… The Tadpole in my head had not begun to eat my brain,it had, instead, merged with it! These situations were exceedingly rare amongst the Mind Flayers, and what the Cleric could tell us is that it turned me into a Xallithelid, in which the Illithid Tadpoles undergo a very rare, and, until recently, practically unheard of process called Cerebiosis. The basics of the Process is hardly known but what it is known is that the host needs to have been born with a natural affinity for Psionics, weak enough that it isn't easily noticeable, but strong enough to subconsciously kill the Tadpole and then absorb it into one's self, amplifying their already latent Psionic Powers.

What's more, a Xallithelid is capable of awakening the Psionic Abilities in others by simply existing near them for extended periods of time. The final detail known about Xallithelids actually comes from those who hunt the Mind Flayers themselves, and that is the Githyanki and Githzerai themselves, and that they managed to escape their capture because one of their own became a Xallithelid, and broke the psionic chains, freeing them, thus the Githyanki and Githzerai, despite their differences, are all sworn to spare any Xallithelid they come across in honor of the First Vlaakith, who started their rebellion. After this, I had begun to wonder what my life would turn out like, and I began to train in order to master my new Psionic Abilities, studying what I could on Psionics whilst growing my power. It would be during my childhood that I would find my two lifelong friends… Dar'Vah, a Tiefling Rogue from a family of Thieves with a sharp tongue, and Traves Medina, a strange boy born between a human and a creature known as a Yith. The two of them would become my lifelong friends, and now we are an inseparable Band of Thieves who I hope, one day, will help me rescue my mother.

Dar'Vah:

Hey there everyone, I'm Dar'Vah, and I'm a Thief, from a Long Line of Thieves, as you see, Thieving is the Family Business, and Business is good! You see, my family are not just any clan of thieves, but we're actually a family of crime fighters who use our techniques in order to uphold the law by breaking it, and earning a profit off it in the process. You see, I come from a long line of Master Thieves, who come from a distant land far away, and because of it, we specialize in stealing from Criminals. Besides, there is no Honor, Glory, or Fun stealing from ordinary people or those who don't deserve it, and if you manage to rip off a Master Criminal, you know for a fact that you're a Master Thief. However, things would've turned out great, had I only known what was going to happen.

You see, while our family specialized in stealing from criminals, we were also government agents, who used our family secrets to enter into such high ranking positions in the government and earn ourselves diplomatic immunity when we went on jobs around the world. However, my father, who was amongst the best our line had produced, had royally screwed up on a job when I was 8 years old. He had overheard whispers of a country planning an assassination of the King, and, true to his honorable nature, had gone with his gang to deal with the threat. Unfortunately, he discovered too late that it was a trap, and, he was followed home, in which an alliance of criminals actually ambushed our clan and slaughtered practically everyone, though I barely managed to escape with my life by using what little I had been taught to hide.

Broke and Orphaned, I would have been dumped into an orphanage if I hadn't been saved by Eryna of the Cavalias Family, the Local Lord who, thanks to our family having saved his on multiple occasions in the past, had taken me in so that I could train under my father's gang members, who taught me everything I know. What's also shocking is that, thanks to Eryna being a Xallithelid, I actually discovered I had Psionic inclinations, which allowed me to gain access to powers I had latent in my blood. We were soon joined by a boy named Traves Medina, a guy who appeared human, but, after we had picked his brain, discovered he was Half-Aberration, thus granting him Darkvision and some basic Psionic Powers… Now we're banding together in order to hunt down the monsters who murdered my family, reclaim my family's reputation, and hopefully find a way to restore my clan to it's former glory. Let's Rock!

Tradamos Van Meier:

Alright, listen up, because I'm only going to explain this once, and if I went through it again you might consider me a madman for even talking about this. I am Traves Medina, and while I may look like your average human being, truth be told I'm not. You see, I'm not actually from this world, I was actually reincarnated into this world after I had died trying to save my niece, Kaylee May, from a bear. I don't know if I was successful or not, but when I died, I expected that my self-sacrifice wasn't enough to save me from the Flames of Hell, but, when I opened my eyes, I found myself reborn in this world, which actually shocked me, as I never expected this to happen. As I grew, I began to discover that I had some form of Psionic Powers, namely Telepathy, and as I began to explore my powers, I started to realize that I could also see in the dark as well, which somehow explained my black within black eyes.

When I confronted my mother about this, she told me a tale that piqued my interests, as it turns out, my true name is Tradamos Van Meier, I am actually a human born with the Telepathic powers of a race of Humanoid Aberrations called the Great Race of Yith, a peaceful race of Telepathic Scholars, Philosophers, and Artificers who are also great warriors nonetheless. During her days as an Adventurer, she had found herself getting sucked through a portal into the Far Realm, the Plane of Madness, and, there she met my father and his race, who look just like Half-Elves, but with a third eye in the middle of their foreheads, fangs, and talons, but also seem to carry strange musical instrument that looked like four metal horns with a single mouthpiece with a single mouthpiece.

She would go onto explain how she had been brought to Pnakotus, a sanctuary within the Realm of Madness, where she would bond with his father until the day she would return to the Material Realm, and soon after she did, she had me, having retired from being an adventurer. However, my grandparents, who had realized I was not "natural" had tried to have me killed, and failing that, they committed suicide. With the nobility blaming her for their deaths because of my unnatural birth, they had stripped my mother of her inheritance. Fortunately though, the Cavalias Family, who had discovered this, brought for the evidence to the King, who restored my family's inheritance, including our wealth, and, thanks to my being born Part-Yith, and the King's interest in Psionics, he wanted to have me work for him when I was old enough.

I honestly was kind of shocked, and, if this were a Lovecraft Story, like "Call of Cthulhu: Dark Corners of the Earth" I most definitely would've killed myself. However, as I knew of the classist and racist themes of that mythos's stories, I was not going to take the coward's way out. Instead, I chose to embrace my Yithian Heritage, embracing my Psionic capabilities, in which, like my mother, I followed the way of the warrior… However, it would be one fine morning that I would be brought to the Cavalias Family Castle and there I would meet two people who would change my life forever… Llll lloigbug'drn…

Intro:

The Island Nation of Qikertaq… An Emerald Archipelago amongst a Sea of Sapphire… However, this Great Nation is still Wild and Untamed, and very few beyond the safety of the walls of Sun'aq City truly know what is out there… Now… Three Heroes… A Band of Thieves who return home from beyond the Horizon, to steal their fortune, and to pursue their destinies.

Travez: I'a orr'enahh! And Welcome to Role the Dice, a Fanfiction on my profile where we Play Dungeons and Dragons and watch as the Dice Screw us Over!

Wolfflight of ShadowClan: *Sighs* Gentlemen, I don't think you're ready for this homebrew…

Travez: Why is that, honey?

Wolf: I just really really don't because, if I'm being honest, you're a more experienced Dungeon Master than I am! I know I love causing Chaos but I don't know if I can do this well enough!

Blackdomus500: If you have any trouble, just ask Travez, he's the more experienced Dungeon Master, plus, he gave you a screen with notes on it to help you if you need it!

Rune20006: Oh I'm so excited for this! My first ever actual D&D Game!

Travez: Well at least you're excited, so how about we begin today guys!

Wolf: Yes, I hope you're ready for an adventure, one that takes us into an idyllic world, one that is secretly plagued by creatures beyond our mortal ken, and where a group of thieves are the only means of salvation for the people of this world. Everyone, Welcome… To the Kingdom… Of Qikertaq! It is a fine morning on the Ferry Tustumena, a great ferry coming from the Mainland to the Kingdom of Qikertaq, a relatively small but bountiful Kingdom, you three, many have come for the annual Crab Festival, whilst others are making their way to the island to explore a still rather untamed world. However, right now, the ship is actually preparing breakfast for everyone, as you will all be arriving in Qikertaq within the next few hours or so, and plenty of people are waking up hungry, as such, everyone is heading to the mess for some food.

You three enter the Mess and find there are actually quite a few people in the mess, lining up for some breakfast, with plenty of possibilities there, including eggs, sausage, bacon, even some breakfast seafood. Standing at the serving area is a Hexblood, a Sea Hag Hexblood, who is serving up everyone their meals. She then looks to you lot, "Hello there, what would you like for breakfast today?" She asks.

Travez: I would like to roll Perception to see if I can spot anything that interests me?

Wolf: What are you looking for?

Travez: Maybe some omelets or some items that would allow me to make a good breakfast sandwich or two!

Wolf: No need for that, there is actually quite a bit of toast, plenty of scrambled and fried eggs, and you've got plenty of sausages and bacons to choose from!

Travez: "Uh I would like some slices of toast, scrambled eggs, and some sausages?"

Wolf: "Oh yes, yes, of course!" She says to you, fixing up a plate as she then turns to the others in the group and sees you. *Points to Rune* "A Drow, huh? We don't get many of you out on the high seas…"

Rune: "Yeah I'm kind of new to the sea, and my stomach is not happy with me." I say to her, holding my stomach and looking a little bluish green.

Wolf: "Ah yes, it happens to us all… I got just the thing for you kid!" The woman says, bringing out a plate with toast and putting a strong smelling jam on it. "Ginger Marmalade, it will help ease your stomach easily!"

Rune: "Thank you…" I say, taking my plate.

Domus: I actually know what I want to get, "Excuse me ma'am, do you perchance have any omelets available?"

Wolf: "Indeed I do!" She says, smiling as she serves up a hefty omelet to you, but as she passes the food to the three of you, she looks at you. "What a strange bunch of travelers…" She then takes another look at you… *Points to Travez, and rolls a d20* Her eyes widen as she looks at her, "We don't get many of you around here!"

Travez: "Yes… My folk are rather rare in these parts." I say to her, trying not to make too much of a scene.

Wolf: Roll a Deception against those listening in. *Rolls a d20*

Travez: *Rolls a d20* 17!

Wolf: There were those who did get their interest piqued, but a few of them who were listening in lose interest as they look at you, thinking you look just like a Half-Elf, but one of them looks at you, and notices some subtle differences.

Travez: I am oblivious to this as I carefully take my food and find a seat at an open table.

Domus: I actually look at my friend and I feel I can understand his reasoning for not wanting what he is to get out so soon.

Rune: I can empathize with him as well, but my stomach is really taking precedence right now as we both decide to join him at his table.

Wolf: Alright then, as you guys gather at the table, you all decide to eat… I assume you're going to be making a breakfast sandwich out of the food you got, correct? *Looks to Travez*

Travez: Yes I am. I put the eggs on the bottom, with the sausage on top and the toast holding them. Once I'm done with that, I take a big bite out of it.

Wolf: Roll me a Constitution Save!

Travez: Oh mother- Sonuva… *Rolls* 23!

Wolf: *Snickers* You get 5 Temporary HP for the rest of the day!

Travez: Oh thank goodness…

Wolf: And you guys?

Rune: I think we're going to eat as well.

Domus: *Nods*

Wolf: Before you do, I want you guys to all Roll a Perception Check to see if you can notice something.

Travez: Modified 20!

Domus: 16!

Rune: 12!

Wolf: You guys actually notice that there is somebody staring at your table from a nearby table, though this person is in a hooded robe, and they seem to be trying, and failing, to go unnoticed.

Travez: I would like to roll Insight, to see if this person has any negative intentions!

Wolf: Go right ahead!

Travez: *Rolls* 19!

Wolf: *Rolls* You don't sense anything evil from this person, rather you sense nostalgia coming from them, as if she is looking at you longingly.

Domus: I stand up and walk over to her. "Hello there, do you want to sit with us?"

Wolf: "Huh?" She asks, looking to you, "Uh, why do you ask?"

Domus: "Well you seem to be looking at Tradamos, and I was wondering if you'd like to join us. You've piqued our curiosity!"

Wolf: She looks at you unsure, and then she looks at Tradamos, then, nods and moves with her food over to your table.

Travez: Once she sits down, I introduce myself. "Hello there, I'm Tradamos Van Meier, who might you be?"

Wolf: "I am… Anastasiya Draculya… Nice to meet you." She says to you all.

Rune: "Lady Eryna Cavalias!"

Domus: I sit back down at our table, "Dar'Vah!"

Travez: "I'm sorry if this is going to come off rude, but have we met before?"

Wolf: "No… At least I haven't met you, but I do know of your kind…" She says to you, "In fact, they saved me once before…"

Travez: "Saved you? From what?"

Wolf: "From People I once trusted with my life… But now I owe your people for it." She says as she begins to eat, revealing razor sharp fangs in her mouth.

Travez: I just shrug and continue to eat my breakfast, I got fangs too!

Domus: "Oh?" I ask, actually curious. "How did you meet the Yith?"

Wolf: "I basically was running for my life when I ran into the Yith, they saved me and helped me find my way home to my parents." She says, looking at them. "Hence why I feel a bit of nostalgia when looking at him." She says, looking at Tradamos.

Travez: Now my interest is piqued, "Oh?" I ask, after swallowing my mouthful, "Who was it that helped you?"

Wolf: "He looked just like you, only older, more experienced!" She says to you, smirking. "And had the smart idea of wearing a hat whenever he wasn't trying to show off…" She then reaches over to you and gently rubs the lids of your third eye. "This…!"

Travez: I chuckle because the lids of my third eye are rather ticklish when I'm not suffering from my allergies.

Wolf: "So cute!" She blurts out as she rubs it a bit more.

Travez: I go into a laughing fit because of it, and I start leaning back in my chair to try and get away from it.

Wolf: Roll me a Dex Save!

Travez: Oh come on! *Rolls, and slams head on the table, holding up a single finger*

Wolf: A Nat One?

Travez: *Nods whilst head is still on the table*

Wolf: You actually tilt back too far and end up falling flat on your back, the chair you are on isn't a hair at all, it is a stool.

Domus: I start laughing as I see this, trying to contain it though.

Rune: I just grin, thoroughly amused as I now have a new idea on which I could actually pester him if I want to… With Mage Hand!

Travez: "Ow…"

Wolf: That is when a big wave hits the ship and suddenly it begins to yaw a bit as everyone braces themselves, and their food, to stay steady. Everyone roll a Dexterity Save! Eryna with disadvantage due to sea sickness. *Rolls DC*

Everyone: *Rolls*

Rune: 12!

Domus: 7…

Travez: 6…

Wolf: Eryna, despite being rather Seasick, you manage to keep yourself and your toast upright. Dar'Vah and Tradamos on the other hand… Tradamos's sandwich falls on his face and splats it's insides on the floor, whilst Dar'vah's Omelet spills all over his fancy pants.

Travez and Domus: "Aw come on!"

Wolf: However, that isn't the only thing that happens, for as the ship begins to Yee and Yaw, there is also something strange, since the Island is getting close, it shouldn't be getting this unstable…

Rune: Despite how sick I am, I rush outside to see what is going on!

Travez: I follow her

Domus: As do I, thoroughly pissed that my omelet, and my pants, were ruined.

Wolf: As you all rush outside, you happen to see the Island and the Harbor of Sun'aq, you can even faintly see the Near Island Bridge, barely but you can. However, the waves are actually rough, much rougher than most would give the shallowing waters credit for.

Travez: I would like to see if there is anything that might be nearby that could cause this!

Wolf: Do you want to investigate or perceive this roll?

Travez: I want to perceive it, see if there is actually any unusual weather that is causing this.

Wolf: Then roll Investigation! *Rolls*

Travez: *Rolls* 19!

Wolf: You actually see that, there is something wrong, there is something in the sky above the Island, it is a Large Creature, but from the distance it's actually looks small, but, deep within your blood, you recognize what this creature is… Your ancestors fought tooth and nail to save Yith from them, your race continues to battle them wherever they are… For they control the Wind itself, and devastate communities if left unchecked… This creature that is standing above the bridge is the mortal enemy of your race. A Flying Polyp…

Travez: I look at the creature and my Third Eye opens, my eyes glowing with Psionic Energy as I recognize the creature, even at a distance, and though I am too far away to do anything, I feel the rage burning within me, moving to the railing as if to jump off it and swim to shore.

Domus: I grab Tradamos to hold him back, knowing that look in his glowing eyes.

Wolf: Your Athletics versus Tradamos's Athletics or Acrobatics.

Travez: I'll go with Acrobatics… *Rolls* 7!

Domus: 14!

Wolf: Dar'Vah, despite the fact that Tradamos is somewhat stronger than you are, you manage to hold him back from doing anything stupid.

Travez: "No let go of me!"

Domus: "Tradamos, don't do it! I may not understand what you're feeling but you'll never make it in time to make any difference!"

Travez: "No, I can't let that thing-"

Wolf: That is when you guys hear a roaring, a sonic roar echo across the sky as a creature rises out of the ground, unleashing this sound from it's maw. *Plays Anguirus's Roar from the Godzilla Movies* The Creature is an Adult Sapphire Dragon that rises out of the ground, and it looks at the Polyp, glaring at the creature, and the two of them begin a spectacle of a fight.

Travez: I watch in both fear and awe as I see the Sapphire Dragon, I feel nothing but an intense fear that feels like it freezes my blood solid as I look upon it. Though, as I watch it fight the Polyp, I actually begin to study it's movements and… I haven't chosen my fighting style yet, so I want to incorporate the Sapphire Dragon's movements as a fighting style.

Wolf: For this… I want you to roll me a History, a Nature, and either an Athletics or Acrobatics Check, to see if you can develop a basic fighting style from your observations. Based on what your roll, I'll determine what kind of fighting style you gain!

Travez: Alright! *Rolls* Okay I got a 19 for History… A 13 for Nature… And For Acrobatics… 18!

Wolf: *Looks up the Fighter's Fighting Styles* Based on your observation of the Sapphire Dragon's Fighting Style, you actually manage to figure out a way to mimic the way this creature seems to perfectly block and dodge the attacks that are coming, almost as if the creature is reading it's mind, what's more, it is using it's wings and tail to block and parry oncoming attacks. It also seems to be making last minute feints if the Polyp tries to grapple or bite it. The fighting style that you formulate in your mind is actually one that is a Protection Fighting Style. This Fighting Style allows you to impose disadvantage upon your opponents when they make an attack on allies within 5ft of you, using your reaction, but you must have a shield to do so. Additionally, your unique take on this fighting style revolves around your telepathic powers influencing Attack rolls matching Armor Class, if your opponent's Attack Roll matches your Armor Class, so long as you're wielding a shield, the Tie goes to the Defender rather than the Offender.

Travez: Alright! That is why I love you so much, Wolfy!

Wolf: However, it will take you a few days to perfect this fighting style, so if the ship manages to make port and secure lodgings, if you spend about a week training, you'll be able to get the basics down pretty quickly.

Travez: Meh no biggie, if we can make port!

Rune: Is there any way we can help the Dragon?

Wolf: Do you have a spell that can reach 90ft from your current position? Because as the Tustumena is drawing towards the bridge, the battle is drawing in close.

Rune: *Checks* No…

Travez: Hang on *Checks his class features, and then smirks* "Guys… I have an idea!"

Domus: "We're not letting you attack that thing!"

Travez: "I'm not going to, but we got to help out that Dragon…" I say, "If i were to lift you guys into the air, could you use any abilities of yours that could reach that thing?"

Domus: I look at Eryna.

Rune: I nod "Can you get us within 60ft of that thing?"

Travez: "I think I can!" I say as I then decide to use my Telekinetic Movement, using both my Free Use and expend a Psionic Energy Die to lift both of them 30ft in the air to get them close enough to do their thing.

Wolf: Oooo! Nice one! Okay, do you allow this.

Domus and Rune: We do!

Domus: And when he lifts us up, I cast Vicious Mockery! "Hey you Flying Mass of disappointment and ugliness that only a mother could love, your should save your hot air if you don't want to be humiliated by our scaley friend here!" It needs to make a Wisdom Saving Throw, in which, it's next attack has disadvantage and 1d4 Psychic Damage if it Fails, or half damage and no disadvantage on a save.

Wolf: Alright, what's the dc to beat?

Domus: 14!

Wolf: He rolled a 6!

Rune: I also cast Dissonant Whispers upon the creature, it must make a DC 14 Wisdom Saving Throw or be forced to flee at it's maximum movement and take 4d6 Psychic Damage on a Failed Save, or Half as much and stays put!

Wolf: *Rolls* It matches!

Rune: So did I win that?

Wolf: Let me check *Checks the rules* Nope, tie goes to the defender…!

Rune: Then he still takes damage but stays put…!

Wolf: Well it didn't matter at this point, the battle that had been going on for a good minute or so, and your interference had actually drawn the Polyps attention away from the Dragon just long enough that the Sapphire Dragon manages to defeat the Polyp with your assistance!

Travez: And with that, I can't hold them up any longer as I run out of power and they have to fall 30ft from my lifting them up.

Rune: I want to be able to use the Cantrip Gust to stop my landing 5ft above the ground!

Wolf: Hmmm Roll me an Arcana Check on that one, but know that I will rule that every 10ft you fall will increase the DC you have to beat every time! *Calculates the DC*

Rune: Alright! *Rolls* 13!

Wolf: It matches, and the Tie goes to you! So you manage to break your fall with a well timed casting of Gust!

Domus: I don't have any way to stop myself, so I think I'll just have to take the damage!

Travez: Wait, I think I'll be able to catch you!

Wolf: You'll have to make an Athletics Check for that, but even if you fail, you'll break his fall and halve the damage he takes!

Travez: Got it!

Wolf: Dar, you roll Acrobatics to see if you can land safely in his arms!

Domus: Right!

Travez and Domus: *Rolls*

Travez: Modified 20!

Domus: 21!

Wolf: Dar, you actually see Traves getting himself into position as you fall and, with the grace of a crane, you direct yourself to land safely in Traves's arms…

Domus: alright!

Wolf: Bridal Style!

Domus: Huh?

Travez: Seeing the position we are in, I just drop him the remaining 5ft!

Domus: "Ow! Thanks for the save though!"

Travez: "Once you learn how to use those blades to Flashstep somewhere, you'll be able to save yourself." I say, trying not to be rude, but I honestly didn't like the position we were in.

Rune: "Awww, you two looked so cute together!"

Domus and Travez: "Shut up, Eryna!"

Wolf: That is when you two feel a burst of wind as the Dragon flies over the ship, almost as if Saluting you before flying towards the docks, where the ship pulls in. Now the three of you have arrived on the Island of Qikertaq… And standing at the docks are those who had waited for you to come, and they are holding a large banner for you. And it reads just one thing… "Welcome Home…" And that is where we'll end this session

The Players: *Sigh in relief as we wipe our brows*

Rune: Man that was… I don't know what that was, but I had fun!

Domus: Heh, I think this might become something good!

Travez: Oh D&D can be fun with the right DM and once you get used to it.

Wolf: Speaking of which, I had a decent amount of fun! You were right, being the DM is rather fun, and I kind of like the chaos that goes with it!

Travez: Yeah, and I hope you guys all had fun today! But I think that's enough out of us for today, but I will give a better rundown of what is going on next time. Thanks for joining, and please be sure to Follow, Favorite, Review, and Share this story with anyone and everyone you know who likes Dungeons and Dragons Content. Catch ya on the Flipside! *Rolls a d20* NAT 20!
