Chapter 2: The Meet & Greet
Harry followed Death's instructions and made his way to The Vanguard headquarters in London. As he walked through the city, he couldn't help but feel a sense of unease. This world was so different from the one he had known before. The buildings were taller, the streets were busier, and the people seemed to be in a constant state of fear.
When Harry finally arrived at The Vanguard headquarters, he was greeted by Sr. Agent Richard Byrn. Byrn was a tall, imposing man with a stern expression and a no-nonsense attitude. Harry couldn't help but feel intimidated by him.
"Mr. Potter," Byrn said, extending his hand. "Welcome to The Vanguard."
"Thank you," Harry replied, shaking his hand.
Byrn led Harry through the headquarters, showing him the various departments and introducing him to some of the other agents. As they walked, Harry explained his story to Byrn, telling him about the wizarding world and the war with Voldemort.
Byrn listened intently, nodding occasionally as Harry spoke. When he had finished, Byrn spoke.
"We have heard of the Wizarding World in our history books," he said. "But we believed it to be nothing more than a myth. It seems we were wrong."
Harry nodded, not sure what to say.
"Mr. Potter, we have a proposition for you," Byrn said, stopping in front of a large door. "You see, you are technically an illegal immigrant in this world. You don't have any identification, no passport. We can arrange for you to become a ward of the UK government, but that would mean giving up your autonomy. You would have to follow their rules and regulations."
"What's the other option?" Harry asked.
"You can become an agent of The Vanguard," Byrn replied. "We will train you, equip you, and you will be one of us. You will have a purpose, a mission. And in exchange, you will have our protection."
Harry thought about it for a moment. Giving up his autonomy was not something he was willing to do. But being a part of The Vanguard, fighting for a cause, that was something he could get behind.
"I'll join The Vanguard," Harry said, finally.
Byrn smiled.
"Excellent. I will be your trainer personally. I am the top agent, and I believe that you have the potential to be one of the best. But make no mistake, this will not be easy. The training is rigorous, the missions are dangerous. But if you are willing to put in the work, I promise you, it will be worth it."
Harry nodded, ready to take on whatever challenges lay ahead.
"Good," Byrn said. "Let's get started then."
And with that, Harry began his training as an agent of The Vanguard. It was tough, grueling work, but Harry was determined to succeed. He pushed himself harder than he ever had before, using all of the skills he had learned during the war against Voldemort.
Over time, Harry began to notice a change in himself. He was more focused, more disciplined. He was becoming a better fighter, a better leader. And he knew that he had The Vanguard to thank for it.
As the months went on, Harry became more and more immersed in the world of The Vanguard. He went on missions, saved lives, and fought against the enemies of the state. And through it all, he knew that he had found his new purpose. He was an agent of The Vanguard, and he was proud to serve.
