King Gaius

Gaius' Corruption.

Gaius, the wise and respected physician of Camelot, set out into the forest in search of a rare herb that could save the life of a gravely ill patient. Unbeknownst to him, fate had other plans in store. As he made his way through the woods, he suddenly found himself face-to-face with a creature of myth and legend: a black unicorn.

Startled, Gaius took a step back, his mind reeling. Black unicorns were incredibly rare, with only two known to exist in the entire world. But as he gazed into the unicorn's eyes, he felt a strange sense of familiarity, as if he had known the creature his entire life.

"Your heart is full of woe, Gaius," the unicorn spoke, its voice both soothing and eerie at the same time.

Gaius bristled at the accusation, insisting that his heart was pure and that he had always strived to do what was right. But the unicorn merely shook its head, its horn glowing with an otherworldly energy.

"Your desires betray you, Gaius. I can sense the anger and resentment that you feel towards Uther Pendragon, for what he has done to our kind."

Gaius felt a cold wave of shock wash over him. He had always harbored a deep-seated hatred for Uther, who had persecuted and oppressed magic users throughout the land. But he had never dared to act on those feelings, knowing that it would only lead to more bloodshed.

The black unicorn seemed to read his thoughts, its eyes glinting with an unsettling intensity.

"Do not resist your desires, Gaius. I can give you the power to overthrow Uther and take his place as king of Camelot. With my help, you can right the wrongs that have been done to our kind and usher in a new era of peace and prosperity."

At first, Gaius resisted the unicorn's offer, knowing that such power came at a terrible cost. But as the creature continued to speak, its words weaving a seductive spell around him, he felt his resolve weakening. Before he knew it, he was consumed by a dark magic, his eyes turning black as he set off towards the castle, determined to claim his rightful place as king.

He was no longer the wise and benevolent physician of Camelot, but a man consumed by his own ambitions and the desire for revenge.

As Gaius stormed through the corridors of the castle, his mind consumed by dark thoughts and his heart pulsing with a newfound power, he crossed paths with Merlin, the young sorcerer.

"Hello, Gaius!" Merlin greeted him with his usual cheerfulness, but was met with a cold and dismissive response.

"Don't bother me, Merlin. I have important matters to attend to," Gaius snapped, his tone sending a chill down Merlin's spine

Unsure of what had caused Gaius's sudden change in demeanor, Merlin watched as his mentor strode away, a sense of unease settling over him.

Later, when Arthur asked him if he had seen Gaius, Merlin could only shake his head. "I don't know, maybe he's in his room," he offered tentatively, still feeling shaken by their earlier encounter.

But when Gaius did eventually emerge from his quarters, Arthur couldn't help but notice that something was off. His usually calm and measured demeanor had been replaced by a palpable sense of aggression and ruthlessness.

"Are you okay, Gaius?" Arthur asked cautiously, eyeing his former mentor warily.

"I'm better than ever," Gaius replied, a cold smile playing at the corners of his lips.

As Merlin approached, hoping to gain some insight into what was happening, Arthur dismissed him with a wave of his hand.

"Don't mind him, Merlin. He has more important matters to attend to than the likes of us," Arthur said dismissively, his attention already turning back to matters of state.

Something had changed in Gaius, something dark and dangerous, and Merlin knew that it was only a matter of time before it all came crashing down.

Gaius entered Uther's chamber with a heavy heart, his mind consumed by the dark magic that had taken hold of him. As Uther turned to greet him, Gaius could feel his anger rising, a deep-seated resentment boiling just beneath the surface.

"Hello, Gaius," Uther said, his tone cordial but distant.

"Hello, Uther," Gaius replied, his voice dripping with icy disdain.

Uther began to speak, but Gaius paid him little heed, his attention focused instead on his own reflection in the mirror.

"mynd yn sownd in speculo," he intoned, the words rolling off his tongue like a curse.

Suddenly, Uther's expression turned to one of horror, his eyes wide with fear.

"Are you doing magic?" he cried out, his voice echoing through the chamber.

"Guards!" Uther yelled "Come here!",when the guards arrived they couldn't find the king.

Gaius claimed that he didn't know what had happened to Uther, despite being the only person who could have known. But deep down, he knew that it was his own dark magic that had trapped the king within the mirror's surface.

As he left the chamber, a dark smile playing at the corners of his lips, Gaius knew that his ascent to power had only just begun. The kingdom of Camelot would soon be his to command, and he would stop at nothing to ensure his reign was strode confidently into the main hall, his mind ablaze with dark magic and the power it afforded him. Without so much as a word of explanation, he marched straight up to the throne and sat upon it, his eyes flashing with a newfound sense of authority.

The knights in attendance exchanged incredulous glances, their minds struggling to comprehend the sudden turn of events. Merlin, Arthur, Gwen, and Morgana all looked on in shock, their mouths agape in disbelief.

"You can't sit on the king's throne," one of the knights spoke up, his voice trembling with indignation.

Gaius turned to face him, his eyes blazing with a fierce intensity. "I can do whatever I please," he declared, his words laced with a newfound sense of power. "For I am the new king of Camelot, and all of you shall bow before me."

Arthur, still struggling to comprehend what was happening, stood up from his seat and made his way towards Gaius. "Oh, come on, Gaius," he said with a forced smile. "This is a joke, isn't it? You can't seriously be thinking of taking my father's place as king."

But Gaius merely sneered in response, his eyes glittering with a cold, malevolent light. "Oh, but I am, Arthur," he hissed. "And there's nothing you or anyone else can do to stop me. From this day forth, Camelot is mine to command, and I shall rule with an iron fist."

As the knights looked on in fear and uncertainty, Gaius settled back into his new throne, his mind already consumed by thoughts of the dark and terrible future that lay ahead."Why, Gaius?" Gwen asked, her voice laced with confusion and hurt.

Gaius turned to face her, his eyes cold and unfeeling. "Uther killed my kind," he said, his voice thick with bitterness. "Now, I'm taking revenge."

Morgana's eyes widened in shock. "What are you saying?" she exclaimed, her mind struggling to process the revelation. "You were loyal to the king all these years."

Gaius merely shrugged in response. "Times change," he said, his voice low and menacing.

Arthur, meanwhile, was having none of it. With a fierce glint in his eye, he pointed his sword directly at Gaius. "I'm sorry, Gaius," he said, his voice firm and unyielding. "But you have to tell me what happened to my father, and you have to stand up right now."

The knights around them tensed, their own swords at the ready. Gaius, for his part, merely laughed. "You think you can defeat me?" he sneered, his eyes blazing with dark magic. "I am more powerful than you could ever imagine, Arthur. More powerful than any of you."

But Arthur was undeterred. With a fierce cry, he charged towards Gaius, his sword raised high. The other knights followed suit, their own blades glinting in the dim light of the hall.

"I have something to tell you"announced Gaius "Please don't"said Merlin in a low voice"Merlin is a wizard".As Gaius revealed Merlin's secret, the air in the room turned tense. All eyes were on Merlin, who was frozen in shock. He couldn't believe that Gaius had just outed him like that, especially when he was in the midst of trying to stop him from doing something terrible.

Gwen was the first to speak. "That's not possible," she said, her voice laced with disbelief. "Merlin is just a servant."

But Gaius only laughed. "Oh, but he's much more than that. He's been practicing magic all this time, right under your noses. And now, as your king, I demand that he be arrested for his crimes."

Arthur stepped forward, sword still in hand. "Merlin, is this true?" he asked, his voice laced with anger.

Merlin swallowed hard, his heart racing. He knew he couldn't say nothing so he remained silence.

There was a moment of silence, as everyone took in what had just been revealed. Then Morgana spoke up. "I don't care if Merlin is a wizard," she said firmly. "He doesn't deserve to be treated like a criminal."

Gaius only sneered at her. "You're just saying that because you're in love with him," he spat. Morgana bristled at the accusation, but before she could respond, Gaius turned back to Merlin.

"You will pay for your crimes, Merlin," he said. "But first, I have other matters to attend to." And with that, he turned and left the room, leaving behind a group of stunned and angry stood in front of the closed door, deep in thought. He knew that something was not right, and the feeling of unease was growing stronger by the minute. Gaius had always been a trusted and loyal friend, but now he seemed to be a completely different person. The black unicorn's influence had turned him into an evil and vengeful man, and now he had taken over Camelot as its new king.

Merlin's thoughts were interrupted by Arthur's voice. "Merlin, we need to do something. We can't just stand here and let Gaius get away with this. We need to find out what happened to my father and stop Gaius before it's too late."

Merlin nodded in agreement. "You're right, Arthur. But how are we going to get into that chamber with the guards blocking the way?"

Arthur looked at Merlin with determination in his eyes. "We'll have to find another way in. There must be a secret entrance or a hidden passage that leads to the chamber. We just have to find it."

Merlin smiled at Arthur's words. He had always admired the prince's bravery and determination. Together, they began to search the castle, looking for any clues that could lead them to the hidden entrance.

After a long search, they finally found the entrance to the secret passage. With Arthur leading the way, they made their way through the dark and narrow tunnel, their hearts pounding with anticipation.

When they finally emerged on the other side, they found themselves in Uther's chamber. But the sight that greeted them was not what they had expected. Uther was nowhere to be found, and Gaius was standing in the middle of the room, his eyes glowing with a dark and sinister energy.

Merlin knew that this was the moment of truth. He stepped forward, facing Gaius with a look of determination. "Gaius, this has to stop. You can't keep doing this. You have to let go of the darkness and come back to the light."

Gaius laughed in response, his voice cold and harsh. "It's too late for that, Merlin. I have the power now, and nothing can stop me."

But Merlin was not deterred. "I won't let you hurt anyone else, Gaius. I'll do whatever it takes to stop you.""You can't do anything"he cried "Repelio!"they both felt to the ground,Merlin woke up some hours later,he couldn't find Arthur so he

ventured into the forest with a heavy heart and approached the Great Dragon, hoping to find a solution to his dilemma. "Thig dragon a helpa fi solvere difficultates o'r deyrnas," he called out to the majestic creature. The dragon appeared before him, looming large and powerful.

"What can I do for you, young wizard?" the dragon inquired, his voice rumbling like thunder.

Merlin recounted the tale of Uther's disappearance and Gaius' newfound evil intentions, seeking guidance from the ancient beast. "Uther is lost, and magic will be restored under Gaius' reign. You should do nothing," the dragon replied in a solemn tone.

Merlin was taken aback by the dragon's response. "I can't do that. Arthur misses his father, and Gaius is now in possession of dark magic. He will bring destruction to Camelot. Please, tell me how to turn Gaius back to good," he pleaded.

The dragon gazed at Merlin with a stern expression. "The path to righteousness lies within Gaius himself. He must face his inner demons and confront his misdeeds. Only then can he be redeemed," the dragon declared, his voice echoing through the forest.

Merlin nodded thoughtfully, realizing that the solution was not a simple one. He knew that Gaius had to be the one to make the choice to turn away from the darkness and back to the light. With a heavy heart, Merlin left the dragon's lair and set out to find a way to bring Gaius back to his senses, knowing that the fate of Camelot rested in his left the dragon's lair with newfound determination. He knew he had to find a way to stop Gaius and save Uther. But he couldn't do it alone.

He went back to Camelot and sought out Gwen and Morgana, who were both deeply troubled by recent events.

"Merlin, what can we do to help?" asked Morgana, her eyes full of concern.

"We need to find a way to get into Uther's chamber and see what's going on in there," said Merlin. "But Gaius has guards posted at the door."

So they formulated a plan. Merlin led the guards on a wild goose chase while Gwen, and Morgana snuck past them and into Uther's chamber.

What they found inside was shocking. Uther was trapped in a mirror, his face twisted in pain and fear. And Gaius was nowhere to be ran away in fear"What happened?"Merlin asked

"Uther is trapped in a mirror"said Gwen

"We have to get Uther out of there," said Merlin.

"But how?" asked Gwen, her eyes fixed on him.

"We need to gather allies," suggested Morgana.

"But who can we trust?" asked Merlin. "How do we know who's loyal to Gaius and who's on our side?"

Gwen spoke up. "There are people who have suffered under Gaius' rule. People who are tired of living in fear. We need to reach out to them."

Merlin racked his brain for a solution to save Uther from his imprisonment in the mirror. He knew that he couldn't perform a spell in front of the mirror without being detected by Uther. After some time, he hit upon an idea: he would use his magic to transform himself into Emrys, his older and more experienced self.

Merlin snuck past the guards and made his way to the mirror. With a deep breath, he closed his eyes and began to focus his magic, willing himself to transform into Emrys. A bright flash of light filled the room, and when it faded, Merlin had become the powerful wizard he had envisioned.

Emrys approached the mirror, his eyes blazing with determination. He began to recite the spell he had found, the words flowing from his lips with ease. The guards outside the chamber were none the wiser, as the magic he was using was far beyond their comprehension.

As he finished the incantation, a crack appeared in the mirror. Emrys reached out and shattered it with a flick of his wrist, freeing Uther from his imprisonment.

Uther stumbled out of the mirror, looking bewildered and disoriented. Merlin quickly transformed back into his normal self, and rushed to help Uther to his feet.

Meanwhile, Gwen, Morgana, and Arthur had been discussing their own concerns about Gaius's behavior. They were all worried about the old man's sudden shift in personality, and had decided to take matters into their own hands.

When Merlin and Uther came to the main hall, they were met by the trio of worried friends. They explained their fears to Uther, who was shocked by what he heard. They all agreed to confront Gaius and demand an explanation for his actions.

Gaius stood before the council and cleared his throat. "I have an important announcement to make," he began. "Due to the recent economic downturn, it has become necessary to take measures to stabilize the kingdom's finances. Therefore, I regret to inform you that we will be raising taxes."

The room erupted in protests and angry murmurs. Gaius held up his hand for silence. "I understand that this is not a popular decision, but it is necessary for the kingdom's survival. We must all do our part to ensure that our people are provided for and that our kingdom remains strong."

He continued to explain the details of the tax increase, the areas in which it would be applied, and the timeline for implementation. The council members continued to grumble and complain, but Gaius stood firm in his decision.

"As your king, it is my responsibility to make difficult decisions for the greater good of our people. I ask that you trust in my judgment and work together to ensure the success of our kingdom," Gaius concluded.

The council members slowly filed out of the room, still grumbling and muttering about the tax increase. Gaius remained behind, deep in thought, knowing that this decision would not be easy but was necessary for the future of the kingdom.

Uther stood at the entrance of his throne room, staring in disbelief at the sight before him. Gaius sat upon the throne, surrounded by his loyal guards, wearing the crown that once belonged to Uther. The room was filled with a tense silence, broken only by the sound of Gaius' footsteps as he stood up from the throne and approached Uther.

"Uther, my old friend," Gaius said with a smile. "It's good to see you up and about. I was starting to worry that you were going to stay trapped in that mirror forever."

Uther gritted his teeth, his eyes flickering with anger. "What have you done, Gaius? You have no right to the throne."

Gaius laughed, a cold, mocking sound. "No right? Uther, you forget that I was your advisor for many years. I know everything about you, including your weaknesses. And I have used them to my advantage."

Uther clenched his fists, ready to fight. "I will not let you take the throne. I will fight for it."

Gaius raised an eyebrow, amused. "Fight me? Uther, you know that you are no match for me. I have powers that you could only dream of. But if you insist on trying, I will not stop you."

With that, Gaius signaled his guards to stand aside, and Uther charged forward, his sword drawn. The two men clashed in a fierce battle, the sound of metal against metal ringing through the throne room. Uther fought with all his might, determined to reclaim what was rightfully his. But Gaius was too powerful, too skilled in the ways of magic, and soon Uther found himself on his knees, his sword knocked from his grasp.

Gaius approached him, his eyes cold and calculating. "You should have known better, Uther. I warned you that I was not to be trifled with."

Uther glared up at him, defiance burning in his eyes. "I will never stop fighting for what is mine."

Gaius smiled cruelly. "We shall see about that."

And with a flick of his wrist, Uther was blasted back against the wall, his consciousness slipping away as Gaius claimed his victory.

Merlin was pacing back and forth in his chambers, trying to find a way to break the black unicorn's spell that had been cast on Arthur. He had tried every spell he knew and even consulted with the Dragon, but nothing seemed to work.

Suddenly, he had an idea. He remembered an old book that Gaius had shown him when he was just a young apprentice. The book contained a rare and powerful spell that could break any curse or enchantment.

Excited by the possibility, Merlin went to Gaius' chambers to search for the book. After rummaging through Gaius' shelves, he finally found it hidden behind a pile of dusty tomes.

As he opened the book, Merlin's eyes fell on a page filled with a complex and intricate spell. He knew it was risky, but he had no other choice.

Merlin began to chant the spell, his voice growing louder and more forceful with each passing moment. The room grew darker as he poured all his energy into the spell, his eyes glowing with an otherworldly light.

Finally, with a final burst of energy, Merlin finished the spell. A beam of light shot out from his hand and struck the black unicorn, shattering its dark magic.

Gaius stood before the knights, his head bowed in shame. "I know what I have done is unforgivable," he began, "but I beg for your mercy and understanding. I was under a spell, a dark magic that clouded my judgement and turned me against all that I held dear."

Arthur stepped forward, his eyes narrowed with suspicion. "How do we know you're telling the truth? How do we know this isn't just another ploy to regain our trust?"

Gaius took a deep breath before continuing. "I have no proof other than my word, but I am willing to do whatever it takes to make things right. I will reverse the damage that I have caused and dedicate my life to protecting the kingdom once again."

Morgana stepped forward, her voice softening. "Gaius, I want to believe you, but you must understand that what you did cannot simply be forgotten. We need to know more about this spell and who cast it on you."

Gaius nodded, his eyes full of regret. "I understand. I will do everything in my power to find out who cast the spell and bring them to justice. But first, I must make amends for what I have done. Please, forgive me."

The knights exchanged looks before nodding in agreement. "Very well, Gaius," Arthur said, "we will give you a chance to make things right. But know that your every move will be closely watched."

Gaius bowed in gratitude. "Thank you, my lord. I will not disappoint you."

Merlin stood by Gaius' bedside, relieved to see his mentor well and alert again. "Gaius, how are you feeling?" Merlin asked, concern etched on his face.

Gaius sighed heavily, his gaze troubled. "Merlin, I don't know where to begin. I have done terrible things under the influence of the black unicorn's magic. I can't believe how easily I was swayed by its dark power."

Merlin laid a comforting hand on Gaius' arm. "It wasn't your fault, Gaius. You were under a powerful spell. The important thing is that you're back to your true self now."

Gaius nodded slowly. "I know, Merlin. But that doesn't excuse what I've done. I've hurt people, betrayed trust, and caused chaos in Camelot. I can't imagine how I'll ever be able to make amends."

Merlin leaned in closer to Gaius, his voice softening. "You will, Gaius. We all make mistakes, but it's how we handle them that defines us. You're a good man, Gaius. You always have been. And I know you'll find a way to make things right."

Gaius looked at Merlin with gratitude in his eyes. "Thank you, Merlin. Your faith in me means a great deal. I'll do whatever it takes to make amends for the harm I've caused."

Merlin smiled warmly at Gaius, relieved to see him back to his old self. "I know you will, Gaius. You're one of the strongest people I know. We'll get through this together."

Merlin found Morgana sitting alone in the courtyard, staring into the distance. He walked up to her and sat down beside her, keeping a respectful distance.

"Morgana," he said gently. "I need to talk to you."

She turned to look at him, her expression unreadable. "What is it, Merlin?"

"I know this is difficult for you," he began, choosing his words carefully. "But I need to tell you something. Gaius was under a spell. He wasn't himself when he did those things."

Morgana looked at him skeptically. "How do you know that for sure?"

"I can't tell you" Merlin replied "Just trust me."

Morgana's expression softened slightly. "I want to believe you, Merlin. But it's hard."

"I know," he said, placing a reassuring hand on her shoulder. "But you have to trust me. Gaius is a good man. He would never intentionally harm anyone."

Morgana looked down at the ground, deep in thought. After a few moments, she spoke again.

"Merlin, there's something I need to tell you," she said, her voice barely above a whisper.

"What is it?" he asked, his attention fully focused on her.

"I love you, Merlin," she said, looking up at him with tears in her eyes.

Merlin was taken aback by her confession. He had always known that Morgana cared for him deeply, but he had never expected her to say those words out loud.

"Morgana," he said softly, "I care for you deeply as well, but-"

"But what?" she interrupted, desperation creeping into her voice.

"But we can never be together," he finished, his voice firm. "We come from different worlds. We have different paths to follow."

Morgana looked as though she was about to protest, but then she nodded, a single tear rolling down her cheek. "I understand," she said, her voice barely audible.

Merlin kissed her.
