Zeno liked to do little things, little ways of living, bright delights to distract from the hardest of times and remind Kaya that as long as there is breath in their lungs, there can be joy too. And still sometimes, it's awe inspiring. Just the day before, she spent over half of it in bed, unable to really breathe well, and here, they are, an old blanket set out in the grass today, and Zeno's carefully piling food on to plates.

It doesn't matter that they are in their backyard or that it is just the two of them. In fact, just being the two of them somehow makes it all the sweeter. Though, Kaya has gotten used to Zeno's surprising immunity and good health, she doesn't think she'd like to risk this with anyone else either.

And so, he carefully lays out a lunch fit for champions, simple and beautiful, and probably imperfect. Because Zeno isn't anywhere close to a professional chef, but he's a good one if anyone were to ask Kaya.

"You didn't have to." She tries to tell him, but she's smiling, and it's impossible to really stop after she began to anyway.

"Why wouldn't I?" He asks her, and he's smiling too. And she almost tears up.

Zeno has a way of cherishing every moment that fills her with awe, and reminds her so much to do the same. Granted, when life was bleak and a little cold by herself, he came in as a pool of light, a ray of sunshine, to brighten her life back up. Kaya still feels that kind of awe at just how much he's able to do, just how much he's happy, willing, eager to do for her.

Every day is fun with him, and even the worst storms are manageable and almost a delight by Zeno's side, and even the days after them are special and beautiful and worth remembering. Kaya has no idea how she ever got so lucky or so blessed as to see him here with her, to live each day now by his side.

"I don't know." And she laughs, giddy and happy, and as they pray and start to eat, it just feels right. A little picnic for two, close by their home, just content to talk and enjoy a day in the sun. And it is a nice day, it seems like. Warm and gentle, the breeze only faint, and the day bright and sunny.

It's like the weather catered to their mood, and Kaya still can barely believe how something so simple could be something so beautiful, but even so, she doesn't want it to be any other way. Each day should be worth remembering and delighting in, and Zeno somehow brings that delight and that joy with him everywhere he goes.
