Chapter 5: Marceline The Vampire Queen
The Ice thing let out a bellowing roar and charged towards us. Beth was the first to engage, her quick movements allowing her to dodge the creature's icy fists. Marceline swooped in from the side, her Axe-Base glinting in the dim light. With a powerful swing, she hacked at the creature's arm, causing it to stumble back in pain.
I charged in, my sword glowing with a fierce light. I delivered a powerful blow to the Ice thing's chest, causing it to roar in fury. I could see that this fight was going to be tough, but we had to keep going.
As the creature turned towards me, I saw my chance. I dashed in and landed a powerful kick to its back, causing it to stumble forward. Beth and Marceline took advantage of the opening and launched a coordinated attack, with Beth slashing at its legs and Marceline delivering a powerful blow to its head.
The Ice thing was reeling, but it wasn't finished yet. It let out another roar and charged towards us once more. We braced ourselves, ready for the next attack.
But just as it was about to strike, the creature suddenly froze in place. We looked around in confusion, and then flew away in fear we had won this battle "We did it guys! The Ice thing is gone for the moment!" Beth and Marceline nodded, heck, even the vampire herself gave me the thumbs up of approval. I smiled, and my best friend even said with a happy expression, "That was super cool, and now Marceline's free!" Marceline, on the other hand, was staring at my sword. "Can I borrow your sword?" Hesitant, I agreed to let her borrow it, even though I knew I could trust her. Deep down, I was also hesitant. She then glared at the blue gem, and Finn appeared inside the sword. "Hey Marcy, it's been a while, hasn't it?" She nodded and tears started to well up in her eyes. Beth and I were concerned. "Are you alright, Miss Marceline?" Again, she smiled and took some time to talk. Beth broke the silence, "Who was he to you?" Marceline responded, "He was my best friend and the greatest hero of Ooo, just like Jake, Fern, and many others." She said happily, feeling nostalgic. The finn sword was indeed speechless. "I'm so happy to be reunited with someone familiar to me, someone I did care for so long, a friend." I felt happy for them. On the other hand, I had so many questions to ask her, but we had to leave this icy mountain. Was the Ice thing really the big threat mentioned by the king?
"Hey Marceline, have you heard of any big threats around?" Beth added to my question.
"Yes, the king of Ooo did send us on a typical journey," she thought for a moment. "Yes, maybe? The cult is spreading like wildfire, also the pup kingdom? I don't know, but honestly, I don't bother with this kind of stuff anymore. I was alone for so long, and I'm currently searching for someone," she said coldly. Clearly, she was serious about this task, and maybe we could help her.
"Miss Marceline, no offense, but if we come along with you, maybe we could help you find whoever you're looking for. We did beat the Badlander, the gang leader to the east!" Beth shouted happily.
"Yeah, I was even there. We did kick his butt and save the village," to my delight, the Finn sword came to our aid. "Yes, I even did help them. What a bunch of fighters! Natural Shremy reminds me of myself, and weirdly, Beth reminds me of Jake, I mean quite normal."
Marceline sighed, but the convincing does seem to have worked. "Fine, if you three can help me find this person I'm looking for, I'll help identify the threat, alright?" I nodded. I mean, what could go wrong?
"I mean, yeah, we have a deal," Beth shook her hand. "Alright, deal! Who is the person we need to find?" We waited for an answer, and finally, Marceline had gathered enough courage to say it, "Bubblegum, or 'Bonnibel.' The Finn sword knew exactly who she was, and we also had an idea. "The leader of the Candy Kingdom? I thought she had died or something," I said, a bit confused. Beth also had a question, "Yeah, what Shremy said." As I was about to add something, Marceline started talking and about to answer our question, "Not exactly. She's around here and got captured by the Ice Thing, but with my powers being limited, and I'm a bit weak, maybe it's my emotions, I cannot find her. But with you three, I'll have a bigger chance to do so." We all agreed with this. "Right. I guess we could see further with your help."
Marceline led us through the snowy and icy terrain, with the Finn sword lighting our way. The wind was getting stronger, making it harder to hear and see. "We're getting closer," Marceline said, her voice barely audible over the gusts of wind. Suddenly, we heard a faint sound of someone calling for help. "That's her!" Marceline exclaimed and took off running in the direction of the voice.
We followed her, feeling the chill in our bones, but we knew we had to keep going. After a few minutes, we saw a figure lying on the ground, partially buried in snow. It was Princess Bubblegum. "Thank Glob you're here," she said weakly. "I've been trapped here for days. The Ice Thing has been draining my powers, and I can't break free."
Marceline approached Bubblegum, holding her hand. "Don't worry, we'll get you out of here," she said reassuringly. We joined in, trying to break the ice with our weapons and our fists. But it was too strong. "We need a different approach," Beth said. "What about fire? Maybe we can melt the ice."
Marceline nodded and flew up in the air, using her Axe-Base now in flame to create a fiery blast. The ice started to melt, and Bubblegum was finally able to break free. We helped her up, and she hugged Marceline, thanking her for saving her.
But our celebration was short-lived, as we heard a loud roar coming from the distance. The Ice Thing was approaching, and we knew we had to run. "We have to get out of here, fast!" I shouted. We started running, with the Finn sword leading the way. The Ice Thing was getting closer, and we could feel it's cold breath on our necks.
Suddenly, Marceline stopped in her tracks and turned around, facing the Ice Thing. "I'm not running away anymore," she said, with determination in her voice. "I'm tired of being afraid. Let's do this."
We all stood together, ready to face the Ice Thing head-on. Marceline summoned her powers, and we followed her lead, attacking the monster with all our might. It was a fierce battle, but we managed to weaken the Ice Thing enough to break its hold on the land.
As the Ice Thing dissipated, we all let out a sigh of relief. We had saved Princess Bubblegum and defeated the Ice Thing. "We make a great team," Beth said, smiling. "Yeah, we do," Marceline replied, also smiling. We knew that we had forged a bond that would last a lifetime. "Now y'all can help us identify the new threat around Ooo!" Marceline nodded. "Yes, that was rather easy with you three. I guess I felt less lonely and gathered enough courage." Bubblegum was quite happy to see Marceline. She spoke to us, "Thank you for finding me after so long. I did escape, but I was caught again, but luckily, you three came to my rescue." And once again, Finn's voice echoed through the storm. "Fourth!" Bubblegum got scared, jumping back. "F-Finn? The Finn Sword?!" Beth was laughing nervously. "Yeah, we did take this sword from the old tree, and somehow, there's a Finn in this blue gem." I added to her words, "Yeah, and I can feel a connection to him like he was me." Princess Bubblegum and Marceline were speechless, thinking. The gum lady was the first one to speak once more. "Yeah, odd. Back at my place, I'll see what I can do, but first of all—" Marceline cut her off. "Bonnibel, we need to help them. I want to help them." I knew that with my new crew, our journey, the real journey, was about to start. Princess Bubblegum, who had changed over the last centuries from what
Finn had told me that he wanted to say some quick words to an old friend so I raised the sword, and Finn could now see Bubblegum with ease. He spoke, "Princess, it's been a while, isn't it?" She nodded, tearing up a bit, "Yes, you're right, my friend... Finn, our her-" and then she remembered that their true Finn had died a long time ago. But maybe she could feel better being around them. Marceline patted the back of Bubblegum, "It's alright. I also got emotional. I guess I still can feel sadness and empathy." I laughed nervously, walking beside Beth as the storm became bigger, and suggested one thing, "How about leaving this place to go to a warm area?" Beth nodded, "Yeah, let's leave now. I'm cold and freezing." Marceline and Bubblegum nodded in agreement, happier than before since they had the opportunity to be reunited with an old friend.
I had many questions for them, but I had to wait. I was freezing to death, and plus, I had all this loot from earlier. "Oh, Marceline, we also got your telescope back," I said, as I gave her the telescope. "Thank you, guys," she gasped. And with that, we all left the icy kingdom to go to a safer and warm area back in the where we usually hang in an old house. We had all sorts of treasures here and old stuff, and now I had more friends here. We had a task: protect Ooo. Deep down, I felt like I'd already done this. Now, I could rest and sleep, knowing that today was crazy. Marceline was even more shocked "You two hang at my old house? This place is still standing?"
