It was soon night as Fun Fest continued going on while Ambrose and the Mazinsky twins waited anxiously for LJ, Zofia, Kimberly, and Chrissy to come back with Garfield and Odie since time was ticking away.
"And now, ladies and gentlemen, a kitty who is almost as talented as me," Ramone soon told the crowd. "Please welcome to the stage, Shecky!"
"Oh, hey, I remember him!" said Martin.
Everyone applauded as the gray big-toothed cat did some flips onto the stage. "Good evening, genties and ladlemen!" he exclaimed happily.
"Oh, good," Jenny smiled. "He found a place for himself."
"That's nice." Ambrose agreed.
Even Zoe, Hammie, and Wren looked happy to see Shecky from their last big encounter with Garfield.
Meanwhile, the others were still on their way to Fun Fest through either biplane or hang-glider.
"There it is, Odie! The studio!" Garfield pointed out.
"Wow!" Odie cheered.
"Coming in for a landing!" Kimberly called out as Snoopy began steering the biplane to the roof.
Garfield and Odie were soon behind them.
"Are you ready to make a grand entrance?" Garfield asked the dog.
Odie barked and nodded in reply.
"Any idea how to land this thing?" Garfield then asked.
"No, no." Odie admitted.
"Then let's aim for something big like the street," Garfield suggested. "WHOA!"
Snoopy and Woodstock came off the plane and spoke to LJ, Zofia, Kimberly, and Chrissy as they came off.
"Hm... I wonder what's taking Garfield and Odie so long?" Zofia remarked.
"They are on a ramshackle glider," said LJ. "They're probably having some trouble steering."
"Oh, boy... This could be chaotic if not handled well..." Kimberly said nervously.
"Left! Left!" Garfield could soon be heard crying out as they turned left and flew down the street while avoiding cars. "Look out!"
They then dodged an oncoming semi-truck, but they were heading for the gate.
"Look out! Over the guard gate." Garfield then told Odie.
However, they still broke through the gate.
"Through the guard gate. How about the parking lot?" Garfield mumbled and then suggested only for them to fly up suddenly. "Or not..." he then added.
They then flew like wild and were heading for the studio sign.
"The studio! Let's dot the I." Garfield soon suggested.
The cat and dog duo then flew towards the I and they hit the window. Luckily, it tipped over and they landed inside the attic.
"So much for a grand entrance." Garfield groaned from the landing.
Soon, LJ, Zofia, Chrissy, and Kimberly rushed over to check on Garfield and Odie.
"Are you guys okay?" Chrissy asked.
"Just dandy, thanks." Garfield groaned and rolled his eyes.
"I'll take that as a sarcastic response." Chrissy retorted.
"For my first number, I'd like to sing something from my latest album!" said Shecky's voice.
"Is that Shecky?" asked LJ.
"You only got me, when you got me!~" The gray cat sang as he jumped around on a display fence, dodging thrown objects from the crowd. "You only squeeze me, when you squeeze me!~"
The people laughed and cheered as they took turns throwing food at Shecky, who took a bow and leapt off the fence. Bonnie Bear held up a 9, Betty held up a 9, and Bonita held up a 7. Rhonda looked around and then decided to also hold out a 9 with a small smile for the rather scrappy cat.
"It is Shecky..." Zofia smiled, looking happy for the cat they met the last time that they were here. "He made a name for himself in this world after all."
"Glad to see he's doing alright." commented LJ.
"Thank you, I love you all!" Shecky exclaimed as he skipped off stage.
"Thank you, and good luck to you in the competition!" beamed Ramone. "Please, one more hand for the funny kitty!"
More applause went up as Garfield glowered.
"Garfield, you okay?" Kimberly asked out of concern.
"What do you think?" Garfield retorted firmly. "Why, that cheesy cougar. I'm supposed to be the MC!"
"And now, our next act: the one and only Gar-r-r-r-r-r-r-r-rfield!" Ramone then announced.
The spotlight shined down only for Garfield to not be there for his cue. The audience soon murmured in confusion once they saw that Garfield didn't show up as Ramone chuckled to himself and the judges began to look concerned.
"Quick, guys. We gotta find a way to get down there." Garfield soon said to Odie and the others.
"How about that vent?" pointed out Kimberly.
Everyone else soon looked over and spotted the vent.
"Good idea, Kim." Zofia nodded.
"Thanks, Zofia." Kimberly smiled.
And at that, the group began to travel with Garfield and Odie through the vent.
"Charles!" Ramone whispered loudly to the director from center stage.
"Eli? Where's Garfield?" Charles demanded through a headset while backstage.
Eli was shown to be at his own station and shrugged in response. "I dunno!" he then answered until the vent suddenly busted open and he saw a pair of certain orange legs. "Garfield? Garfield!" he then said before answering Charles. "He's here!"
Garfield then fell through the vent and waved nervously at Eli as he landed on the control panel.
"Lazy cats, they are always late," scoffed Ramone. "Never to be counted on..."
Charles shushed him and whispered, "He's here!"
"It appears Garfield is only a moment away," Ramone soon told the audience. "For now, you will all have to be content gazing upon my beauty~"
The judges swooned at Ramone with that news.
"Oh, brother." Audrey rolled her eyes at that.
Back at the workstation, Eli soon faced Garfield. "It's about time." he then said to the male cat.
"Come on, guys." Garfield then told the rest of the group as they came down the vent.
"Where've you been?" Eli asked the group and the cat.
"Just getting what we need to do to help Garfield because helping others in need is what we do best." Kimberly noted.
"Yeah, at The Fountain of Funny," Garfield added. "Just wait 'til you see me out there."
"Well, you'd better hurry." Eli then advised the male cat.
"No worries. Garfield's got this." Chrissy reassured him.
"Just one more sip of this, an' I'll be good to go." said Garfield as he pulled out the flask. But to his horror, he saw that the flask was broken!
"What's wrong?" asked Eli.
"I'm toast!" groaned Garfield. "There goes Fun Fest! There goes EVERYTHING!"
"What are you talkin' about?" Eli queried.
"My Funny Water's gone! I can't go on!" Garfield explained.
LJ checked his canteen. No leaks or cracks. "Well, YOUR funny water might be gone..." he began, as Garfield threw the broken flask in the garbage. "Craters. I knew I should've spoken a little more quickly."
"Garfield, you don't need to give up so quickly!" Zofia frowned.
"Speak for yourself, kid! I'm finished!" Garfield retorted.
"Garfield!" Eli cried out to the cat as he began to run away.
"Eli! What happened to Garfield?" Charles asked out of concern.
"I don't think he's coming." Eli answered with some regret in his voice.
"He's not coming," whispered Charles. "Move on with the show!"
Ramone smirked wickedly before facing forward. "Well, it looks like we'll be moving forward with our last act of the ev-e-ning!" he said.
The crowd murmured to themselves, confused.
"Ladies and gentlemen, you are going to be treated to the tango," said Ramone. "Performed by the lovely Ar-r-r-r-r-rlene, and yours truly! Just for you, so sit back and enjoy!"
At that, the crowd began to clap and cheer as Ramone walked off stage to get ready.
"Oh, no... They're too late..." Ambrose frowned.
"Dang it." Martin and Jenny also groaned in worry about what might happen next.
Arlene was soon dressed up and ready as she began to dance the Tango with Ramone. The judges continued to coo and swoon as they thought that Arlene was very lucky to be apart of the dance with such a handsome and debonair cat. Garfield then peeked out from the curtains as Ramone was swaying and twirling Arlene about. Ramone even dipped her and tossed her high in the air before catching her again as the crowd went wild.
"Oh, Garfield, I'm sorry you had to see that." Kimberly said to the male cat in concern.
Garfield said nothing. He just turned and walked out the side door.
"Garfield..." Arlene started as she reached over to him, but got twirled by Ramone once again.
"Dude, do you mind?" Chrissy asked Ramone in annoyance. "You're kinda killing the moment."
Ramone glanced over his shoulder and tried to shake off Chrissy's icy stare from backstage as Garfield continued out.
"Oh, dear..." Zofia sighed, feeling really bad for Garfield. "Maybe one of us should go talk to him?" she then suggested.
"He could really use it," said LJ. "Maybe this funny water could come in handy..."
"Come on then, let's go see our chubby chum," Chrissy said before groaning. "Now that frog's got me doing that."
Soon, the group began to join Garfield outside as the cat was very much down in the dumps right now and everything seemed hopeless for him.
"What's wrong, Garfield?" Kimberly asked, though she already had an idea of what it was, she still wanted to comfort him.
"My humor's gone, guys, and my girl is gone, all because... Because I'm... I'm... I'm sure there's a word for it." Garfield started to say until he paused thoughtfully.
"Arrogant?" A voice suddenly suggested until they all looked over to see that Freddy Frog was coming over to them. "Conceited? Egotistical? Self-centered? Difficult? A primadonna?"
"What're you doing here?" asked Garfield.
"I came here to see how my student is doing!" Freddy replied.
"I flunked my final, that's how I'm doing." sighed Garfield.
"This is kind of a bad time, Freddy," Chrissy said to the older frog. "No offense."
"Back at the pond, I said you weren't ready yet." Freddy told Garfield.
"I'll be ready and raring to go if you give me some more of that funny water." Garfield then said.
"That won't do any good." Freddy then asked.
"Why not?" Garfield asked.
'Because funny water is just water." Freddy revealed.
"What?" The group asked out of slight surprise.
"Just plain H2O water!" Freddy simply stated.
"But the book, the map..." Garfield pointed out and reminded him.
"That's just a story." Freddy nodded.
"But the funny water works," Garfield insisted. "I felt funnier after I drank it."
"You felt funny, because you are funny," Freddy replied. "I tried to tell you."
"It was with Garfield all along like when Dorothy Gale had a way to go back home during her journey to Oz?" Kimberly then asked.
"Exactly, imaginative and adorable young lady," Freddy nodded. "It was never about the water, Garfield. It was about your journey." he then concluded to the male cat.
"He's right... Stanislavsky taught you to be honest with your audience." explained LJ.
"Junior taught you to follow your heart." Kimberly added.
"And the alligators taught you humility," Chrissy finished. "...with some help from LJ and Zofia."
"Odie knew." responded Zofia.
"Yeah!" Odie barked.
"Garfield... you forgot to entertain," explained Freddy. "You were working so hard at trying to win, you forgot to make the audience laugh. You forgot to follow your heart!"
"Follow my heart," Garfield said before he took out a rose. "Yeah. I'm gonna have to try a lot harder next time."
"There may not be a next time, Garfield." Zofia advised Garfield.
"Time is running out." Chrissy added.
"Your friends are right." Freddy agreed.
Garfield paused thoughtfully for a moment before he nodded. "I know what to do." he then said.
"What're you gonna do next?" Zofia asked.
"Go take a seat with your other friends, guys," Garfield soon told them. "I'm gonna do what I can to make this the best Fun Fest we ever had."
"You got it." said LJ.
"Knock 'em dead out there!" Zofia chimed in as she and the others headed in to join the crowd.
Garfield smiled a bit as the group came to sit down. Ambrose and the Mazinsky twins were still in high suspense until they faced the others in their group.
"Well? Did it go alright?" Ambrose asked.
"I think you might have to wait and see." Chrissy advised him.
Ramone was tossing Arlene about and catching her, but as he spun her off to the side, another dancer caught her. Dressed entirely in flamenco dancer garb, was none other than GARFIELD!
"It's Garfield!" exclaimed an audience member, and immediately the entire crowd broke into cheers.
Ramone looked quickly annoyed once he saw that Garfield was back.
"Whoa!" Eli smiled once they could all see the male orange cat back to dance with the female pink cat.
Garfield smiled as he took Arlene's hand and they continued the act as the audience looked very joyous and thrilled. The two cats then danced together on the stage only for Ramone to zip by and literally sweep Arlene off of her feet before twirling and spinning her around. Garfield then snatched Arlene right back before twirling with her happily. Ramone then snatched Arlene again until she kept going back and forth beside Garfield and Ramone until there was a big almost Taz-like tornado twirl with Ramone and he then saw that he was dancing with Garfield that time instead of Arlene. Ramone then kicked Garfield away out of annoyance right into the stage lights and held on for dear life. Arlene gasped and panicked for Garfield right away. The audience looked horrified and suspenseful when Ramone went to go back to dancing with Arlene.
"Oh, no." Eli said as he soon used his buttons to lower the stage lights for Garfield.
"I'm okay, Eli!" Garfield said while being lowered until he climbed up on top of the lights.
The audience then continued to cheer. Garfield smirked once he found a rope and then tied it around his waist and swung in to grab and save Arlene from being kissed by Ramone and soon, the two were on top of the steel girders.
"YOU!" Ramone glared and pointed at Garfield in frustration.
"Guys... Look!" Martin pointed out once he saw something funny. "Ramone is part robot!"
"Whoa!" exclaimed Kimberly. "Now that's something you don't see every day!"
"Yeah... usually just on some days." LJ added.
"Ramone is a robot?" Zofia asked with wide eyes. "But... But... How...? Why...?"
"Someone has to be behind that," Jenny narrowed her eyes as she looked around. "Rodney!"
"What?" Rodney asked with a scoff.
"You're behind this robot cat mess, aren't you?" Jenny demanded.
"Get real," Rodney rolled his eyes. "I didn't do nuthin'."
"So you confessed to doing something!" Zofia proclaimed.
"Pfft... Come on, the only thing I did was piss my old man off with a knock-knock joke and magic trick of making a dime disappear by making him close his eyes," Rodney retorted. "Whoever's behind that robot cat BS, you got the wrong guy."
"Be literal, guys; Rodney's a little creep, but he's nowhere near being smart enough to pull this off," said LJ. "Think about it: somebody's been missing since Ramone showed up. Who, pray tell, could it be?"
"Can I go now?" Rodney asked with a groan.
Ambrose rolled his eyes before shoving Rodney away with a random broom.
"Let's see... we're all here..." Martin said thoughtfully.
"Where are The Harvey Street Girls?" Zofia asked. "I don't wanna think they could do something this horrendous."
"No good on them," Jenny shook her head before pointing out Audrey, Dot, and Lotta who were in the hallway next to a couple of vending machines. "They're getting snacks."
"Keep thinking," LJ advised. "Who would want to see Garfield fail? Who would love nothing more than to steal his spotlight AND his fame? And who wanted to be the big star of Fun Fest?"
Everyone then stopped to think for a few more moments.
"Well, the Larsen siblings are already out of the story..." Ambrose then said.
"So not them..." Chrissy added. "Think, guys... Who would do anything to get a lot of attention from others, especially with Garfield in the main focus and spotlight?"
They then continued to stop as "Jeopardy" music began to play for a few moments until it suddenly hit Zofia.
"I think I know!" Zofia soon said to her brother and their friends. "Nermal!"
"The-e-ere it is." LJ smiled in response, as Ramone was crawling onto the girders, and getting ready to grab Arlene.
"Shall we?" Garfield asked Arlene.
"Thank you, Garfield." Arlene smiled before she gasped and was suddenly grabbed away by Ramone.
They all got back on the girder as Garfield pulled Ramone's right arm off.
Arlene was surprised at Ramone as he didn't seem to feel that or even react. "Your arm!" she then gasped to the "charming cat".
"You!" Ramone glared once he saw his arm was missing and soon spun away with Arlene.
Garfield then looked at the arm and pulled down a hanger, making it move, much to his confusion.
"Do it for the character, Arlene," Ramone urged. "Keep dancing!" he then leaned in to kiss her again.
That was, until Garfield used the robot hand to grab Ramone by the leg. "Gotcha!" he then taunted his enemy.
Ramone then flung him off, ripping the entire leg off in the process. As he hopped away on one foot, Garfield followed him down the Fun Fest sign.
"Arlene!" Garfield soon cried out.
"Garfield!" Arlene called back.
Garfield then hid behind a sign as Ramone continued to dance with Arlene and when they came closer, Garfield grabbed Ramone's other leg with the robotic arm and pulled the leg off and suddenly, Ramone was nothing but a chest and a head and kept moving despite those efforts.
"What's happening?" Arlene asked as she began to look and sound disturbed.
Garfield soon decided to put an end to this Scooby Doo-like mystery and prepared to punch Ramone... but then flung Ramone's hat off, pulling off his head and face to show his true face to Arlene and everyone else.
"Nermal?!" Everyone else cried out once they saw who it actually was.
Nermal used the hydraulic arm to put the hat back on his head. "Who ees thees Nermal of which you speak?" he asked, trying to keep up the act.
"Why, I oughta..." Garfield started.
The audience then started cheering before anything else could be said or done. Garfield and Arlene bowed while Nermal began to try to get away.
"Hold it," Kimberly said, putting her hand up in front of the kitten. "I think we need to have a talk."
"Heh-heh... uh-oh." Nermal gulped.
"We'll deal with you in a minute, so don't go anywhere." Kimberly told the kitten.
"You're not the boss of me." Nermal muttered at that.
"Hit it!" Garfield soon called out
Tango music then started playing as Garfield and Arlene began their long-awaited dance. The two cats were soon dancing together in harmony almost like Danny and Sawyer.
"Arlene, I'm sorry." Garfield soon said.
"Sorry?" Arlene asked out of confusion.
"For not saying I'd dance with you to begin with," Garfield explained. "I should've realized this is more important than winning Fun Fest."
"Who says we won't win?" Arlene replied softly.
Shortly after, the dance was finished, to much applause. Garfield and Arlene waved, as Betty, Bonita, and Bonnie each gave Garfield and Arlene 10 points each. Rhonda waited a few seconds, before she also gave a 10.
"Never seen perfect scores before," Charles remarked. "Ladies and gentlemen, the winners of Fun Fest, Garfield and Arlene!" he then announced to the audience.
The place erupted in cheers as Garfield and Arlene bowed. at their victory.
Nermal glared from backstage until he had an idea. "I got it! Next year I'll be Pierre: the flaming-baton-twirling cabaret singer, no?" he then suggested.
"Yeeeeeeeah... No." Chrissy replied sarcastically.
"And we even have an honorable mention for Fun Fest this year." Charles then added to the audience.
"Oh?" LJ asked as he and the others turned to see.
"This could be good." commented Zofia.
"In all my years as comic director, I never saw a more stellar performance than this one and it meant a lot to see it tonight, especially with you folks, very charming, funny, and adventurous and I hope to see more if I'm lucky enough," Charles continued. "So give it up for our honorary winners as well... The Harvey Girls: Audrey Smith, Dot Polka, and Lotta Plump!" he then announced.
The crowd all applauded as Lotta, Dot, and Audrey each took a bow.
"We helped give them a new chance." Zofia whispered to LJ and their friends.
"We should be very proud of ourselves." Kimberly smiled at that.
"Whatya know? I guess I can be helpful when I wanna be." Jenny smirked at herself.
"Yeah, we both can!" Martin replied with a smile.
"We all can," Ambrose nodded. "That's why we have these adventures."
Charles placed flower wreaths over Garfield and Arlene's heads. "Congratulations!" he then told the two cats before going over to Audrey, Dot, and Lotta next. "You girls too."
"Awes-mazing!" Audrey cheered.
"It was just an honor to show you what we could do." Dot added.
"Harvey Girls forever!" Lotta grinned in excitement.
Garfield soon took out the wilted rose and showed it to Arlene. "This one's for you." he then told the female cat next to him.
Arlene accepted the rose, and she and Garfield kissed passionately.
And from a distance, Freddy watched with a smile. "And they all laughed happily ever after. The End." he said, closing the very same book that Garfield had found. And then, he flew off on the rebuilt glider, whooping and cheering all the way.
"Well, guys, I think we can go now with the knowledge of us doing a job well done," Ambrose soon said to the group he came into the Comic World with. "Probably even better than the last time you guys saw Garfield."
"I think this time was even better," replied Zofia. "But who knows about the next time we drop in?"
"We'll see what happens," Ambrose chuckled. "Well, if you guys are all set, I think we should go back home."
"Ready and raring to go," responded LJ. "Take us home, buddy!"
"Let's go and we'll see what more adventures await you after this visit to Garfield and Odie." Ambrose nodded as he brought out his training wand and soon zapped himself and his friends to take them back home to Greendale.
"Well, hopefully they're not as exhausting as THIS one was." sighed Chrissy as she wiped her head off.
"Aw, come on now... you know you had fun." Ambrose told her.
"I just wish I knew about that elevator sooner." Chrissy rolled her eyes.
"Well, that's just the thing about adventures," Zofia shrugged. "I think this was a pretty good one though."
"Yeah, same here." LJ chimed in.
"I'm just glad that we were able to help out Audrey, Dot, and Lotta," Kimberly smiled as she came between LJ and Chrissy to hug them both. "Who knows what might've happened if we didn't help out?"
"Well... let's not think about that." Chrissy responded.
"Exactly," Ambrose nodded before he took out his phone. "Now if you guys will excuse me... I have important phone work to do."
"You gonna call Marie Kanker?" Jenny guessed.
"NO!" Ambrose glared before looking away and blushing. "...yes." he then said quietly.
"Called it." Jenny smirked.
Ambrose rolled his eyes and walked off with his phone, going to call Marie.
"Well, I guess if there's nothing else, we'll get going." Martin suggested to the others.
"I just hope I get that Equestrian adventure soon." Kimberly remarked hopefully.
"It's coming, trust me." LJ said as he gave her a hug.
"I'm trying to be patient," Kimberly replied. "I think I would be very good at it."
"And I have no doubt you'd be great at it." LJ told her warmly.
"Thanks, LJ," Kimberly beamed as she hugged him. "These have been such great adventures and I'm glad I get to join you on some of them, I look forward to the next one if I'm invited."
"No doubt you will be cuz LJ enjoys your company a lot." Zofia smirked playfully.
LJ and Kimberly blushed in response. Chrissy rolled her eyes, but she still smiled about it regardless.
"Kimberly, mija!" A woman's voice called out. "¡Hora de volver a casa y lavarse!"
"Aww..." Kimberly pouted once she heard that before she smiled and hugged LJ and Chrissy. "I gotta go home for dinner, thanks again for another great adventure, you guys." she then told them warmly.
"Always glad to have you." LJ said as he patted her on the back.
"Can't wait for the next one." Chrissy added, as Kimberly headed out the door.
"See you guys later." Kimberly told them before she rushed off to go back home.
"Such a nice girl you kids have befriended." Cherry smirked warmly as she stepped by.
"Yehp... she's great, isn't she?" smiled LJ, beaming with pride.
"She's a good cookie," Cherry said as she ruffled up his hair. "Now what shall we have for dinner while you kids get settled back home after your next big adventure?"
"Is it weird if I'm kinda craving lasagna right now?" Chrissy asked.
"Trust me, that's not so strange." Zofia smirked since she had a pretty good idea.
"I'd be down for it," responded LJ. "Anyone else?"
"Well, I suppose I could stick around for that." Ambrose remarked.
"Definitely me too." Chrissy added.
The Mazinsky twins looked at each other before they then nodded.
"Sure, we'll just call our mom before dinner starts." Jenny then said.
Both kids left to another room so they could contact their parents.
"I'll go call my aunts." Chrissy decided as she headed to the restroom.
LJ and Zofia soon faced each other.
"You know what, Brother?" Zofia began to say.
"No, what?" LJ asked.
"We've got some pretty cool friends and adventures." Zofia then said to him.
"We suuuuure do, Sis," LJ nodded. "We suuuure do."
The Schwartz siblings then shared a laugh together like at the end of an old sitcom while Cherry began to get dinner ready for her children and their guests.
The End!
