CHAPTER 3: JUPITER

The Beheeyem looked at the little Eevee sympathetically and sighed.

How much longer would they do this to this poor creature?

She was only following orders. Her badge glistened against the warm light of her fingers as she prepared to use Hypnosis on the Eevee, clearly visible to her through the 1-way glass. The lights on her fingers flashed red yellow green, red yellow green, red yellow green, red yellow green, and Eevee was asleep. The light revealed an insignia of the planet Jupiter on the badge. Jupiter oversaw the Patient Care ward. She hated the job, but anything she'd do to rebel would be found out by the higher ups, and they'd put her in Box 1 as punishment. And nobody wanted to be put into Box 1. She'd been there once and had met a terrifying beast. One with 6 eyes and feet made of forests. It crushed all that it saw in a blind rage between its 3 rigid fingers, and punched so hard it fractured the box itself. Jupiter thought of how powerless she was, how she could just be put into a Poke Ball and into a digital prison with that beast for all eternity if the Professor so wished. Jupiter's heels clacked as she went to pick up Eevee's Poke Ball, walked into the hypnosis chamber, and prepared to wheel Eevee out of the room just like she did every other day. But she noticed something different today. Little sparkles lay all around the pillowy tiles of the dark room, ever so slightly illuminating the complete darkness. Huh… she thought. She tickled the Eevee's belly gently with her fingers. The little creature lay still, but one of its hind legs kicked just once.

Weird that an Eevee would be able to use Safeguard. Impossible even. Beheeyem don't know how to use Safeguard, and I have an affinity for Psychic techniques. And I'm the only one with the key to this room. So it'd be impossible to trace the technique back to me, or anyone, if I let this slide…

Jupiter looked at the door from whence she came, thought for a moment, then placed Eevee onto a hospital bed and wheeled the Eevee out to the lab like any other day.

"Day 365 of vaccine administration, infected subject ID 133, unit 1, vitals stable. Glucose levels, magnesium, sodium… …within normal range. No neurological abnormalities detected in activity scan, subject is asleep. 10 minutes until vaccine can be administered. Return in 8 minutes."

Eevee couldn't fully open its eyes yet, but the tall blue blur speaking left its field of vision and it could hear the blur's footsteps fading. As soon as the footsteps became inaudible, Eevee opened its eyes and glanced around carefully while remaining in place. It was amazing Eevee made it this far at all, since Beheeyem saw through its plan instantly. While wheeling Eevee's hospital bed over to where it was now, the Beheeyem telepathically spoke to Eevee. It said,

"I can help you. My name is Jupiter."

Looking around now, it saw more creatures in glass enclosures. Eevee watched as a figure in blue scrubs put a syringe up to the creatures thighs one by one and injecting them. Nothing happened for a bit, but one after another the creatures began frantically using abilities trying to break out of the glass. Some of them started frothing at the mouth, and after a while could do nothing but pound at the glass until they passed out and their eyes became spirals. Eevee could do nothing but watch in horror, as it wasn't sure if there were cameras in the rooms. It heard the footsteps approaching and pretended to fall asleep again. The figure in scrubs spoke into a recording device.

"Day 365. If today goes well, I will have sufficient proof that the vaccine works on subject 133-1. And in my opinion, that is almost certain. I have authorization to begin hypothesizing the second set of labs after the administration is complete."

The figure flicked the vaccine and cleaned Eevee's thigh, then Eevee felt a pinprick in the usual spot. Images of the struggling creatures it just watched flashed through its mind and it ever so slightly tensed its closed eyelids shut even more. The figure's footsteps then faded again, and a familiar clacking of heels began growing louder.

Jupiter placed its hands on the handlebars of the hospital bed and began wheeling Eevee out of the room. It turned a corner and paused at a corridor. Eevee watched as the room around it suddenly turned into a glittering pink glassy tiled surface and the walls of the room they were in before vanished from view. Without hesitation, Jupiter placed her hands on Eevee and shook it awake.

"We are safe for now. I put us in a pocket dimension called a Wonder Room.I must be quick before they notice I'm gone for too long, but I want to know why you used Safeguard today."

Eevee trusted Jupiter after her actions that day and decided to tell her the truth.

"I'm trying to escape. The Titan Regigigas is going to help me escape tomorrow somehow… It told me it figured out what is going on here and wanted me to be its eyes for today."

Jupiter's digital green eyes expressed confusion.

"Regigigas? Is that another Pokemon in Box 12? As far as I know, you're the only one in Box 12…"

"Regigigas is a God… It towers above me, and has 6 eyes-"

Jupiter's eyes flashed bright yellow.

"And legs like forests, yes?"

Eevee looked at Jupiter with surprise and glee.

"Yes, yes! You know of Regigigas? Are you friends with it too?"

Jupiter stared off for a moment.

"The creature you call Regigigas… is a violent beast of a titan. It's damaged some of my friends beyond repair, and my kind fear it like no other...You mustn't trust it."

Eevee looked confused.

"Regigigas is sensitive and has good intentions! It taught me Safeguard, and I got a glimpse of its mind when I mimicked the move. It even comforted me when I was down."

Jupiter wasn't stupid. Mimic does not lie about such things, yet she didn't want to believe it.

"I will likely hate Regigigas for my entire life, but I'm sick of this place and the horrible things they do to these Pokemon for science. Don't bother listening to that beast. Tomorrow, I will not use hypnosis on you, and I will get you out of here. Their stupid experiment worked today, and I will not let them win."

"What does that mean?"

"You're their experiment, little Eevee. They've been testing a vaccine on wild Pokemon, one that grants great power. You are the first to be receptive to it. I'd tell you more, but we have to go now."

Eevee tried to process that while Jupiter touched a wall of the Wonder Room and the walls collapsed into her fingers and the two were back in the corridor.

"I'm sorry about this, but you'll need to do this just once more. I will see you tomorrow. Remember my name."

Jupiter produced a red and white orb with a button in the center. She pressed the button, and Eevee blacked out. When it woke up, it was back in its burrow. It immediately dashed towards the circle and looked out towards the 224 degree marker.

How much of this do I tell the Titan?
