It was a cruel day indeed. It started off with some simple rain, pouring onto earth but it became much worse, as we will soon see. Smudge, the delightful dally, had seen the rain as something good and that something good was to follow. Little did he know what was in store for him that day. He went about his day normally, cleaning his house, reading books and much more. He was half way through his favorite book, Warhorse, when his phone buzzed, altering him. He peered at his phone, reviewing the notification. It was Star. The text message read: "Urgent Family Meeting, meet at usual spot". Smudge reluctantly put his book down, grabbed a coat and headed out, walking to their usual meet up spot. He didn't live too far away from it so he was able to walk there.
When he arrived, he was nervous, a sense of fear briefly surged through him. He took a deep breath and entered. He was greeted by Nova, the one he truly loved. Scarlett was great, but to him, Nova was better. "Oh, hey Smudge! Good to see you again" Nova said cheerfully. "H…hey Nova. It's definitely been awhile" He replied nervously. Nova was slowly starting to notice something was up with Smudge. He wasn't acting like his normal self. They both entered the main room where everyone was surrounding the table. They beckon Nova and Smudge over, where two seats were free beside each other.
Without wasting any time, Star started the meeting, addressing normal stuff, what the plan was for the week and more. What came next, is truly heartbreaking. She took a deep breath, obviously nervous. After a little pause, she spoke up "After some tough decisions, I have some bad news…" She said, nervously. "We've decided that Smudge is no longer part of our family…" she continued, on the verge of tears. The room fell silent and Smudge was in shock, trying to process what he had just heard. He sat in silence until Nova spoke up. "Him? Removed from the family? Why?" Nova asked, clearly furious." He doesn't do as much in the family as we do, he needs to go" Ash said, growing more furious. Smudge stood up slamming his fists on the desk "So I guess all of the support means nothing to you guys then! I wasted my breath for nothing! I was there when you guys needed me most and this is how I'm treated!" He yelled, mad at the news.
The room fell silent, all that was heard was the sniffling of Star and Daisha crying. The dally stormed out of the room, leaving them all behind. He stepped outside of the building, trying to calm himself down when he heard a soothing voice beside him, it was Nova. "Hey, you ok there Smudge?" She asked. "Well, I've just been removed from the family so, no, not really" He answered on the verge of tears. Nova approached smudge, giving him a hug and leaving him speechless. "I'm sorry about them, if it means anything, I want you around" She said. She pulled herself away from Smudge, only to then pull him in for a kiss. It was no secret that Nova had feelings for Smudge. Since day one, Nova had admired him and now that she kissed him, Smudge wasn't the only speechless one.
The two broke the kiss, admiring each other, gazing into each other's eyes. They both knew they loved each other. It was just a matter of who was going to admit first. Smudge was surprisingly the one to do that. "Well, all I can say now is…I love you Nova, and I always have" Smudge admitted. Nova initiated another kiss, clearly very happy about what she had just heard. "I love you too" She said, breaking the kiss.
They walked away from the building, leaving the hurt behind. They came up with the idea to create their own version of the family. So far it was just them in it. But they knew a few people who would be willing to join, the only problem is, two of them were dead and one was missing. However, Smudge was smart. He knew a way of getting them, or atleast….a version of them. He studied the multiverse, learning everything about it. He planned to bring a version of Chitsuki and Solar from a different world to his. He had the necessary devices built and this was his time to use them. Nova was confused the whole time, with Smudge having to explain everything in more detail until it was time to get them back. Devices blared their warnings, lights flickered on and off and Nova held onto Smudge, fearing for the worst until….they did it.
They brought back Chitsuki and Solar! They succeeded! However, this Chitsuki and Solar were from the past, they didn't trust Smudge or Nova. They drew their weapons, scaring the couple. "Guys, let's put away the weapons and we can talk about this" Smudge said. But they were in no mood for talking, they edged closer and closer. Fear surged through the couple as they backed away. They thought it was over, this was it, they were both dead. Nova managed one final kiss before they…..
Were not killed? The two weapon bearers laughed at the couple, filling the lovers with confusion. They didn't understand what was happening until Chitsuki spoke."Oh man, you guys should have seen your faces!" her and Solar said at the same time, continuing to laugh. Jokes aside, they were all thrilled to be reunited as one again…even if they didn't really know Nova that well. Some of the old gang was back together. "Man, it's been awhile since we last talked" Solar said. "Yeah that's because you two are buried six feet under," Smudge said. What was expected to be laughter, was confusion. The two were confused."What do you mean 'you two are buried six feet under'? We're alive aren't we?" Chitsuki asked. Smudge explained everything. From Star wanting revenge, to the whole plan to their death, he explained it all.
"I never wanted any of it to happen so I never got involved. It was all Star, Harley and Ash. The rest of us were just suppoassani, even if we didn't want to" Smudge explained. The two were filled with both sadness and anger, but they knew that's what they were like anyway so they shouldn't have been surprised. Solar broke into tears. She was the one who deserved it the least. Smudge then explained the idea of Nova and him. How they planned to make their own friend group. They seemed on board with the idea, but they were unaware that someone was listening in…and that someone wanted to make themselves known. "It's an idea alright. Just not sure if I would call it a good one" The figure said, stepping out of the shadows.
The figure was none other than Ennard. He was banished from the family after being discovered as a mole working for Chitsuki, giving her information about her own assanination. "Ennard! It's been awhile!" Smudge said, happy to see his friend again. Ennard wasn't phased by the idea of starting a new friend group. "How do we know this won't end in sadness or something?" He asked. Everyone then had questions. "How are we going to do this?" Chitsuki asked."Isn't this gonna start a huge fight?" Nova asked "I'm not sure about all of that, but we'll have each other through it all..." Smudge replied
"…We just need to look into new horizons…"
