This is the 1st chapter. I don't own the series of Danmachi or the videogame of Kingdom Hearts.
Keyblade Warrior and Survivor, Fenris Lumine
A boy named Fenris Lumine, a Keyblade Wielder, a survivor of the Keyblade War, and former member of Union Leopardus and Dandelions, who died after he made a sacrifice by locking the portal to trap the darkness and ensure the safety of Ephemer and Skuld.
Fenris have been through Hell, participating the Keyblade War, pushing the Unions who were once cherished friends and allies into enemies. There was no more love to be shared as all of the opposing sides spared no hesitation to end their fellow kinsmen. The main reason is the Keyblade Wielders were being misguided and being brought into war that was 'prophesized' to inevitably happen. To make matters worse, Master Aced told that each wielder must trust their own Unions, but Lumine confronted him and was defeat by the Foreteller.
Fenris and Skuld have learned from Gula that stopping the Keyblade War is pointless, so the only person capable of doing so is Master of Masters, Luxu. Gula tells them the secret passage written in the Lost Page of the Book of the Prophecies, and how the traitor will be the one who will set the Keyblade War into motion with a single striking sound of the Clock Tower bell. Of course, Skuld wanted Lumine to join with the Dandelions and not to participate the Keyblade War, but he hesitated because he couldn't leave his friends behind and he's been searching for Ephemer even since he first met him during the confrontation against the Heartless and fought together.
The tensions were already high with the Unions clashing over garnering the most 'light'. The greed and wrath were but the ammunition and the war were the trigger to let the negative feelings out and take the mind of every wielder, seeking to claim victory for the glory of their own Union.
Fenris however, felt the bitterness of it all filled with so much spite, but the target of said spite was not simple because he has doubts about the prophecy.
He knew that he wouldn't stop his fellow Unions since the Keyblade War has begun and no words would ever convince them to withdraw. They wouldn't reach the hearts of the Foretellers spearheading this unavoidable massacre of his Unions to begrudgingly fulfill the damned prophecy that Luxu foresaw.
With no other option left, he decided to partake the Keyblade War since the odds were stacked against him. With the knowledge of his past defeats, his combat prowess, sheer will, and his preceived expectations of what all of the Foretellers were capable of, he held onto hope.
He even fought against four of the Foretellers: Aced, Invi, Ira, and Ava.
Fenris is aware of Aced's unforgiving strength and his ferocious nature during his second fight against him. They were evenly matched, but barely which Fenris was able to prove him wrong.
Fenris fought against Invi which he barely catches up to her blinding speed, but he was able to trust his instincts by going on defense while counter. Invi was impressed and even praises him.
Fenris fought against Ira which he knows that he and Aced were on bad terms. Lumine barely won his third fight and was on the brink of death after his previous fights which the Foretellers did a number on him.
Fenris lastly fought against Ava. Ava doesn't want to fight but was left with no other options. Lumine was able to defeat her, but with every strength he had left, he collapses down to the ground and left him heavily, wounded, exhausted, and dying. Ava left with a few words by having him to join the Dandelions and go far away.
Fenris was the only survivor of the Keyblade War, and he watches the hearts flowing away in the sky while the Kingdom Hearts arrived in the sky. Chirithy appears before him, telling him that he did good and telling him to rest. Both Ephemer and Skuld appeared before him and having him in the different world.
After a few months recovery, Fenris continued to travel different worlds to fight against the Heartless and collecting Lux. Fenris was recruited by Brain after hearing the information about the glitches from Daybreak Town. Soon, Brain and Fenris discovered that the dataspace they were residing is being forcibly connected to the data world that's never connected to the original Daybreak Town.
Fenris continued to investigate after informing Ephemer about what he had learned from the world called Game Center. Fenris encountered several Darklings and Heartless from the game of 'Fix-it Felix Jr.', 'Hero's Duty', and 'Sugar Rush' along with the glitch named 'Turbo/King Candy'. Fenris ended the mission and returned to Daybreak Town, while given them a helping hand by fighting against the darkness, but the cost was Ventus uses the light to strike the darkness and rendered unconscious.
After having discussions, Elenra, Lauriam, Ventus, and Brain entered the pods to leave the data world, leaving Ephemer, Skuld, and Fenris behind. With only two pods, the darkness appeared, and they demand a gate to pass out of the data world. Ephemer refuses when he and Skuld prepares to fight while telling Fenris to escape. Fenris however responds by fighting both Ephemer and Skuld.
Fenris was able to defeat them, but Ephemer launches a beam through his chest that opens the portal behind him, sucking him and the four darkness's together. Fenris was heavily wounded and surrounded by the darkness', but uses the last strength to seal the portal, trapping the darkness and himself. Fenris is now on the brink of death and embraces Chirithy before he's engulfed by the cycle of transferring heart.
However, one of the Gods named Zeus and Hera notices the heart which was pure of light. Zeus and Hera decided to look into Fenris' memories, surprised and awed of his travels in different worlds, fighting against the Heartless, Darklings, and making friends, saddened of the Keyblade War that cost him to lose his friends, and also sad that he had to make a sacrifice in order for Ephemer and Skuld to escape.
"You have been through so much, my boy. You deserve a second chance to live." Zeus said with a sad smile.
With that, both Zeus and Hera use their power to restore and fully heal Fenris as they send him to Orario with their godlike powers.
Somewhere inside of the building, Fenris groaned and slowly opened his eyes to survey the surroundings around him, hoping to gain some context.
Fenris Lumine is a tall muscular young man with unruly brown hair that reaches down to his shoulders, vertical spikes and bangs that frame his face, sky blue eyes, and tanned skin. He wears a skintight, black high-collar shirt that shows his muscles, a dark grey near the top with several loops for his belt, and two buttons came undone, black obi sash, and the rest of the hakama are dark blue with a small, lighter stripe of blue on the bottom hem, and two intersecting white straps over his chest that drops much lower down and resembled a crisscrossed suspender.
"Ugh, my head..." Fenris groans, sat up while rubbing his head. "Where am I?"
Fenris then survey the area, but noticing that he's not in Daybreak Town, meaning that he's somewhere in the new world which it got him wondering where he was and why.
"Chirithy, are you there?" Fenris called as the cat-like Dream Eater revealed itself.
Chirithy has an appearance of a cat with a large round head, drooping ears, and a smaller body and tail. Chirithy is also gray colored, with black stripes appearing at regular intervals across the body, blue eyes, and a peach-colored nose with black ears. The area surrounding the nose is colored white, as is a strip of flesh down in front of Chirithy's body. A pink and gold purse decorated with the Lux emblem hangs around its neck, and has a Spirit Dream Eater emblem on its back, which is hidden by a yellow and pale blue cape.
"I'm always here by your side, Fenris." Chirithy told him, looking at Fenris' condition. "And by the looks of it, you're still a wreck after your fight against Ephemer and Skuld."
"Don't remind me, I've had it worse than this." Fenris said. "But that's not why I called you. Do you have any idea of where we are?"
Chirithy then pondered a moment, surveying the area which he too is unfamiliar with this world.
"Well, we're not in Daybreak Town, that's for sure. We're in some kind of a new world." Chirithy answered.
"But where?" Fenris inquires.
"I'm not sure, but all I know is we're in a new world." Chirithy told him. "And sitting around here won't help us by getting the answers. We should have a look around so we can get some answers."
Fenris agreed to his suggestion when he got out of the bed, grabbing his armor that has a large ornate crest pauldron with a wolf insignia (colored blue) and the long, segmented section (alternating in between dark grey and white) and a gauntlet with the color of dark grey and white, a black wristband and Power Bangle on his right wrist, a Wayfinder necklace, and armored boots are dark blue and dark grey.
Fenris opens the door and entered a small corridor while Chirithy disappeared. While walking, he saw another door to his right which it got him to stop because he wanted to know who was inside, since he could feel a strange presence.
'Something feels familiar, but what?' Fenris mentally questions curiously.
At first, Fenris felt curious and wondered who was in that room, but decided not to open the door and went straight down the stairs. Who or what was inside of the room, he didn't want to wake someone up early since it's early in the morning. Fenris knew full well that most people didn't want to be bothered while sleeping, but for him, he gets up early in the morning to practice his martial arts, magic, and swordsmanship. Fenris then looks at the bathroom that has a toilet, a large mirror, a basin, and even a shower, but apparently, that room was large. Fenris was about to head outside to find out where exactly he was. Whoever was living here, he didn't want to bother someone anymore, but then...
"I see that you're awake." The gentle female voice said which it got Fenris' attention when he heard her from behind. "Don't worry, I won't do anything to you."
Fenris then turns around, saw a woman with a long walnut brown hair that's gathered together behind her head in a dignified manner, along with deep indigo eyes that are reminiscent of a sea of stars. She wears a simple kirtle and a long skirt. Fenris felt concerned of this situation.
"My name is Astrea, a Goddess, and a previous leader of the Astrea Familia." Astrea introduces herself politely. "And you?"
'Did...did that woman just say...she's a Goddess?!' Fenris mentally shouts in shock and in disbelief.
Fenris never heard of the Familia nor even met, except Hades, any other of the Gods or Goddesses. He decided to play it safe by using a different name since there's no way he would tell his real name by some stranger, let alone a woman claiming to be a Goddess, even though she couldn't be a mortal being. However, Astrea beats him to it with a smile that was slightly, yet very vicious which it got Fenris flinched.
"You know, it's very impolite to try and lie in front of a woman who brought you inside of her house, don't you agree?" Astrea questions.
'Crap! She knows!' Fenris mentally exclaims with his face pale, wondered how she can see through a lie.
"I can also see that you didn't believe me, either." Astrea adds with a calm smile. "I guess you want it to play it safe, which I can't blame you, since you also feel a little disoriented, and you prefer avoiding difficulties, am I right?"
That got Fenris dropping his jaw in respond.
"I have an idea; I will make us some tea." Astrea suggested. "You can sit on the couch right there and when I come back, you will tell be everything, what do you say?"
"Uhh...yeah, sure." Fenris answered, still in disbelief.
"Alright!" Astrea said happily before going to the kitchen while Fenris went straight to the couch.
Fenris saw the large window near the couch, he could also see the sun rays coming from the left side. He also realized that, besides the trees, there was mainly grassland, no sign of other houses or a clock tower, which indicates that he must be somewhere at the countryside. Chirithy then revealed itself, landed on the table.
"Well, I say that went well." Chirithy said.
"You think?" Fenris asks sarcastically, turns to the Dream Eater. "I'm going to be stuck here and she wanted answers."
"Calm down, I'm sure you can trust her. She's telling the truth about her as a Goddess." Chirithy assures him. "I'm sensing no darkness inside of her heart, but her magic levels are very high. Surely, you can sense that too."
"Hmm...now that you mention it, I'm sensing that magic level." Fenris said with a ponder. "And it's...coming from her. Maybe she is a Goddess."
"That's right." The voice of Astrea answered, earned their attention when she arrived with a tray full tea set as she sets them on the able, and sit on a couch. "So, mind telling me about yourself, and your little friend?"
"I would, but just that you know, you probably won't believe what I'm about to tell you." Fenris warns her before he's about to start.
"I'm all ears." Astrea said with smile.
As Fenris started, he firstly said his name is Fenris Lumine and his Dream Eater is Chirithy, and that he's a Keyblade wielder, former member of Union Leopardus and Dandelions, and lived in a world called Daybreak Town. Then he told Astrea about his parents and his sister were the Keyblade wielders and martial artists, but also told her about Gula, the Foreteller and a leader of Leopardus. He lost his parents at the age of 8 and his sister at the age of 9, leaving Gula the one who took him in and raises him. His journey started on traveling different worlds when he fought against the Heartless, collecting Lux, and made some new friends from the different Unions, like Ephemer and Skuld. While explaining about his life, Fenris also explained about the Book of the Prophecies, Unions, Foretellers, and the Master of Masters, Luxu, especially about the Dream Eaters.
Astrea couldn't believe it at first, but as a Goddess, she realizes immediately that he's telling the truth. She continued listening and realized that Fenris' face slowly saddened.
Fenris then started to talk about the hellish experience he's been through. About the Prophecies made by Luxu, about how the Unions were conflicted against each other, but Aced made it worse and Fenris confronts him, but was defeated one. But later, Fenris and Skuld learned from Gula that stopping the Keyblade War is pointless because of the Book of the Prophecies, the secret passage written in the Lost Page of the Book of the Prophecies, and how the traitor will be the one who will set the Keyblade War into motion with single striking sound of the Clock Tower bell. Fenris participated in the Keyblade War, fought the wielders, including the four Foretellers: Aced, Invi, Ira, and Ava. Fenris was even in the brink of death after the fight against the Foretellers and left him heavily wounded and exhausted. Fenris was left the only survivor of the Keyblade War and both Skuld and Ephemer were able to find him in the Badlands. Fenris was fully recovered, he continued to travel in different worlds to fight against the Heartless, and collecting Lux. However, Fenris realizes that the Daybreak Town has glitches, meaning that he and the Union Leaders were in the data world of Daybreak Town. He continued the investigation after informing Ephemer about what he learned.
After Ephemer returned to Daybreak Town, Fenris continued fighting against the glitches, Heartless, and Darklings on his own. Soon after Fenris completed his mission, he returned to Daybreak Town while given the Union Leaders a hand by fighting against the darkness, but cost was that Ventus uses the light against the darkness and rendered unconscious. Elenra, Brain, Ventus, and Lauriam uses the pods to escape the data world, leaving Fenris, Ephemer, and Skuld behind. With only two pods appeared, the number darkness demanded them to use the pods to leave, but Ephemer refuses. However, Fenris decided to fight against Ephemer and Skuld, won the fight, but Ephemer launches the beam through his chest that opens the portal behind him, sucking him and the darkness' together. Fenris was left heavily wounded, but he uses his last strength to seal the portal to trap the darkness and himself. After using the last of his strength, Fenris was engulfed by light and turned into a heart.
"...And that's our story, in a nutshell." Fenris said, finished his story which Astrea completely shocked.
Astrea couldn't believe it, despite knowing that he's telling the truth. This teen right there lived through happy, yet harsh life. Astrea can tell by that look of his eyes that was filled with pain, remorse, and anguish. Astrea's thoughts about Fenris' remorse and anguish had been confirmed. He may have had a good life during his time with his family, his mentor, and his friends and had a set of skills that were totally foreign, but unlike any of the adventurers, he endured a soul-crushing, harsh life where at the point or two he could've died. Now, he was cut off from the ones he knew with no way to reach out to them.
"That explains why you're being cautious, and the Book of the Prophecies seems to have an unpleasant secret of its own." Astrea said before drinking some tea. "And yet, you've been dealing a lot of hardships, despite being young."
"It's not all happy and full of cheer if you put it that way." Fenris points out, before drinking some tea. "Then again, there are some, but not entirely."
"Indeed." Astrea agrees. "Well, I believe it's my turn to tell you, my story."
Astrea started her story when she was in Heaven, where she's next to be descending down here to the lower world. She came into Orario, also known as the City of Labyrinth. It's a city known for its strong adventurers and the Dungeon; a labyrinth located under the large Tower known as the Tower of Babel. While explaining her story, Astrea also explained about the lower world, like about Demi-Humans like Cat people, Chienthrope, Werewolf, Hume Rabbit, Dwarf, Elves, and Bulls for instance.
By telling her story, both Fenris and Chirithy realized that this world wasn't like any of Daybreak Town, since she described things like horse-drawn carriages and postal services quite the funniest thing Astrea told them about the belief of adventurers' duties, to pick up girls in the dungeon after protecting them from monsters. But to Fenris, it's one of the most ridiculous things he has ever heard and knows that women are as tough as nails while taking care of themselves.
After Astrea found a Human named Alise Lovell, they started the Astrea Familia. Many other adventurers, only females, joined her Familia as time went by. They became one of the strongest Familias and were also popular among the citizens of Orario and acted at the police force.
Then, Astrea's face suddenly fell.
One day when her Familia were exploring the Dungeon, nearly all of the Astrea Familia died, except a She-Elf named Ryuu Lion. It is said that the Rudra Familia were part of Evilus, and set a trap to kill her Familia, but it went terribly wrong and resulted in an accidental summoning of a Juggernaut, causing both of Familias killed. Ryuu decided to kill the entire Rudra Familia on her own vendetta. After her work is over, Ryuu was branded as a fugitive and excommunicated by her Familia and was never allowed to join the Familia again. Astrea herself couldn't do anything about that, even though many other influential Gods were on her side in that case. She also blamed herself for the occurrences, but also because she wasn't able to let Ryuu alone.
After telling her story, there was silent in the living room. Fenris could see it wasn't easy to tell her story, but as the same said to him.
"So...what happened after that? Did you find any new members?" Fenris asked slowly.
"No." Astrea shook her head sadly, looking down at the table. "After that event, my Familia was disbanded, and I was forced to leave Orario."
"And that Elven girl, Ryuu? What happen to her?" Fenris questions again, but afraid to hear something uncomfortable.
"She's still in Orario, thank heavens." Astrea said when her sadness slightly disappeared. "She works at a pub called 'Hostess of Fertility'."
Both Fenris and Chirithy were relieved to hear the news of Ryuu but were wondering why would they name a pub 'Hostess of Fertility'.
"Oh, that reminds me, Ryuu is coming here by tomorrow." Astrea adds, pressed her finger on her cheek. "I can introduce you to her, if you want."
"That's sound interesting." Fenris said with a smile but remembered something important. "How did you find me? I doubt that I appeared right in the room, didn't I?"
"Oh right, you fell from the sky and landed right there on the pasture." Astrea explains, pointed her finger outside of the window which it got him and Chirithy in disbelief. "At first, I believed you're another God descended from Heaven, but after I saw you, I knew you were no God, then I took you immediately inside of my home."
"I see. May I look at the crash site?" Fenris suggested, hoping he could find any clues of how he came here.
"Now that I think about it, I need to go to the market square since my food supplies run short." Astrea said with a smile, then looked at Fenris. "While I prepare everything for purchasing, you can look and wait outside."
Fenris nods in respond before heading outside of the house.
Now in between the house and the grassland, there was a soil road, probably for the path or traffic. Fenris wondered what new adventures will wait for him in this new mysterious world. Fenris also hope that he'll be looking for clues of how he ended up here and hoping to find his old friends, mostly Ephemer and Skuld. Fenris did fought against the two, but not for betrayal because he only wanted for them to escape. Whenever he gets a chance to find them, Fenris is hoping that he'll find it in their hearts to forgive him after what he did.
That's it for the 1st chapter.
