Atlantis Command (Formerly Stargate Command: USAF/USMC)

Lieutenant General Jonathan J. O'Neill

: Known more commonly as Jack O'Neill, the leader of the Atlanteans is a man whose experience and strength of will is matched only by his sarcasm and love of the Simpsons. Jack graduated from the Air Force Academy as a Second Lieutenant at the top of his class. He flew a CF-18 Hornet during the Iran-Iraq war, before becoming a Special Operations Weather Technician. Under SOWT, he was assigned to covert missions in Iran, Iraq, Afghanistan, and other hot spots throughout the 80's and 90's, becoming one of the most highly decorated special forces soldiers in the US military.

Sadly, tragedy struck at home, instead of on the battlefield. Jack's son, Charlie, managed to get his gun from his safe and accidently shot himself. Jack was devastated, as was his wife Sara who blamed Jack for not being home due to deployment. After returning home, he and his wife separated. Jack retired from the Air Force, falling into a state of deep depression. Until one day, he was reactivated and assigned to a black ops project at Cheyanne Mountain.

For eight years he was in command of SG-1, leading Earth into the galaxy at large and combating aliens on dozens of different worlds. Eventually, he was put in command of the SGC before finally being reassigned to command Homeworld Defense. Now he leads the refugees in Atlantis from their universe, doing everything he can to keep them safe and alive. Not an easy task when dealing with so many new species and a galaxy that is so heavily populated and dangerous. And one that seems to be prejudiced against humans.

Lt. Colonel Samantha Carter

: One of the greatest human minds of her time, in two galaxies, Samantha Carter is largely responsible for the rapid technological advancement of the Taur'i since they first began using the Stargate. She earned a Ph.D. in astrophysics while attending the Air Force Academy, before being deployed to active duty during the Gulf War. Recognized for her brilliant work in theoretical physics and engineering, she was eventually reassigned to Area 51. During the time that Dr. Jackson was figuring out the Gate address to Abydos, Samantha Carter was leading a team in trying to understand the inner workings of the Stargate, eventually creating the dialing computer Earth used in leu of a DHD.

Once she joined SG-1, her intellect and ability to comprehend new technology led to the development and use of reverse-engineered alien technology that allowed the SGC and Area 51 to combat more advanced alien threats. From Naquadah generators to their battlecruisers, Samantha Carter had a hand in refining and perfecting their designs that made Earth a serious power in the galaxy.

Lt. Colonel Carter, alongside Dr. Rodney McKay, now leads Atlantis's scientific division. They have been tasked with developing new technologies to better outfit their teams, in order to balance the deficiencies they have when compared to the ground forces of the galaxy. Additionally, she remains an active member of SG-1 and responsible for analyzing and researching any new technology they come across on their missions.

Lt. Colonel Cameron Mitchell

: Cameron Mitchell was your typical country boy turned pilot. Hard working, honest to a fault, and with a knack for unconventional tactics that immediately set him apart from his peers in the Academy. During training, he outflew everyone in his class to include the instructors who by the time of graduation couldn't beat him even with a three to one advantage. He was immediately assigned to the Middle East, flying an F-16 for bombing runs on insurgent compounds. Unfortunately, an intelligence screw up saw Cameron dropping a payload on a convoy of refugees, something that he would haunt him for the rest of his days.

Eventually, his talents drew the attention of the SGC, and he was reassigned to join the ever-growing pool of pilots for the F-302 program. Becoming a squadron commander in short time, he led the attack against the Goa'uld during the Battle of Antarctica. He became an instant ace during the battle, but ended up ramming his fighter into an Al'kesh to protect the cargo ship that SG-1 had obtained, crashing into the ice and snow. After he'd been recovered by S&R, he spent months rehabilitating, and received the Medal of Honor for his actions the helped SG-1 save the world. Once he was fully healed, he was offered anything position within the Program that he wanted. More than anything, he wanted to join SG-1.

Now he leads his team on missions throughout the galaxy, dealing with new races and combating pirates and killer machines. He was a long way from the simple life in the country that he had grown up in, and despite being relatively new to the Program, he's adapted quite well to the unusual circumstances he now finds himself in.

Lt. Colonel John Sheppard

: A graduate of Stanford University, John Sheppard was the heir to a wealthy family and a multi-billion-dollar utilities conglomerate. Instead of following what his father wanted for him and his brother, John chose instead to join the United States Air Force, becoming estranged from his family in the process. Graduating from the Academy as a First Lieutenant, Sheppard was immediately recognized by his superiors for his intellect that could have seen him join MENSA.

Assigned as a test pilot for experimental aircraft, John spent several years flying aircraft that other pilots would have killed to get even a glimpse of. After an altercation with a superior officer, he was reassigned to the Middle East flying all manner of aircraft from a Blackhawk helicopter inserting Delta's into hotspots to an F-16 on bombing runs. He graduated from Ranger School as part of his special operations training, as well as participating as a SWOT for a brief period, following a similar path to the former SG-1 team leader. After disobeying a direct order to save the lives of his fellow servicemen who had been shot down behind enemy lines, he was reassigned again and stuck in a career ending position at McMurdo Air Force base in Antarctica. It was there he came into contact with then Brigadier General Jack O'Neill and the Stargate Program.

He joined the Atlantis Expedition, becoming its military commander and second in command behind Dr. Elizabeth Weir. He formed the Atlantis Recon teams and assumed command of AR-1 as they ventured out into the Pegasus galaxy in pursuit of new cultures, technology, and means of defending themselves from the Wraith. Now he leads his team, now designated SG-2, doing what they do best: getting into trouble, but forming friendships and lasting allies as they explore this new reality they call home.

Specialist Ronon Dex

: Ronon Dex joined the Satedan military at the age of sixteen. A militaristic society, all Satedans were required to serve a minimum of five years in the army, and all were expected to be prepared for reactivation should the need arise. Ronon quickly rose through the ranks, achieving the rank of Specialist by age twenty-two, and going on to join Satedan special forces. The Satedans were training their best to infiltrate hibernating Wraith ships, gather whatever technology and intelligence they could, and return home before the Wraith were alerted. All in preparation for a galaxy wide-strike against the slumbering aliens who threatened their existence.

Unfortunately, during a raid that Ronon was in command of, they alerted the caretaker Wraith and had to abort, but not before three of Ronon's friends were thought to be captured and dead. This eventually led to the Wraith launching an assault on Sateda. After a six-day siege, millions of Satedans were dead, and millions more were taken to be fed upon. Ronon himself was one of the last of the military to be taken. However, the Wraith sensed that he would be a prime candidate for a Runner, humans chosen to be hunted across the galaxy by Wraith for sport. Until the day he came across the people from Atlantis who would become his new family.

Now Ronon along with SG-2 continue their mission of reconnaissance and First Contact. The man finds himself somewhat out of his element in this new galaxy, who hundreds of new threats and enemies to contend with. In particular, he finds himself uncomfortable with so many non-human races given his past trauma involving the Wraith. Colonel Sheppard will need to keep an eye on his friend and make sure that he is adjusting.

Free Jaffa (Military/ Civilian Alliance)

Teal'c of Chulak

: Born nearly a century prior to the modern day, Teal'c was the son of the First Prime of the System Lord Chronos. After his father was slain by his liege lord, Teal'c and his mother were banished and fled to Chulak. Vowing revenge on the Goa'uld who killed his father, he joined the System Lord Apophis's army. Rising through the ranks, he showed strength, intelligence, and will far beyond his fellow Jaffa. Eventually, he was noticed by the First Prime of Apophis, Bra'tac.

Teal'c encountered Colonel Jack O'Neill and his team on their first mission. Realizing the potential these humans had, Teal'c betrayed his master and saved the humans from Earth. Offering his services to them, Teal'c joined SG-1 and became the first Jaffa to openly defy the Goa'uld in over a thousand years. Bearing the title of 'Shol'va', or traitor in Goa'uld, he swore he would not rest until all his brothers and sisters were free as well.

Teal'c and Bra'tac now lead what's left of their people alongside General O'Neill. Keeping their warriors trained and ready for combat is one of their main focuses, but living alongside the humans has introduced his people to the many aspects of life that he came to appreciate and enjoy during his time on Earth. Teal'c still had duties offworld as a member of SG-1, and his century and a half experience and wisdom to help his friends deal with increasingly different and unknown situations.

Master Bra'tac

: One of the oldest Jaffa in Atlantis, Bra'tac brings over a century's worth of experience to the senior staff of Atlantis, both on battlefield and in diplomacy. He spent decades fighting for Apophis before rising to become the leader of his armies. As First Prime, Bra'tac was in command of millions of Jaffa, hundreds of motherships, and a vast territory that Apophis controlled. But First Prime, he was also responsible for negotiating with other First Primes, as well as the occasional System Lord when Apophis was unavailable.

Taking the young Teal'c under his wing, Bra'tac began training him to be his eventual replacement. But more than that, he began to plant the seeds of doubt in Teal'c's mind that the Goa'uld were not in fact gods. He trained Teal'c not only to be the strongest warrior that he could be, but trained his mind so that when the day came for him to receive his golden emblem, he would be in the best position possible to spare as many people as he could when he could. Until the day when all Jaffa could rise up and be free.

His wisdom is revered by all and is a trusted confidant and advisor to General O'Neill. The General looks to him for advice on how to proceed with their dealings with the new races they're sure to encounter. Such advice will be needed for the coming days when they are exposed to the galaxy at large.

Atlantis Civilian Personnel (Diplomacy/ Trade/ First Contact)

Dr. Daniel Jackson

: The man responsible for opening the Stargate for Earth, Daniel Jackson is the foremost expert on alien culture and language, being fluent in twenty-eight different languages both terrestrial or otherwise. A graduate of the University of Chicago, Daniel spent most of his early career studying ancient human civilizations around the world. The more he researched, the greater the feeling he got that there were more the ancient civilizations of Earth than what was generally accepted. Eventually, he became convinced that the pyramids of Giza were actually landing pads for alien ships. Of course, he was laughed out of academia, eventually becoming a pariah who no one took seriously.

That is, until Catherine Langford offered him the chance to do some translating on an ancient Egyptian stone covering. Once he'd cracked the code, he was shown what the project was really about: opening the Stargate. He, along with then Colonel O'Neill, led a team through it to the planet of Abydos. This was Earth's first encounter with not only displaced humans, but the Goa'uld as well. Together, the two people managed to destroy the Supreme System Lord Ra's ship, freeing the Abydonians from slavery. Daniel chose to remain behind with his new wife Sha're, until a year later when she was kidnapped by the Goa'uld forcing him to join SG-1.

Besides his duties on SG-1, Daniel is also responsible for the training of civilian of Atlantis who wish to join SG teams in the future. And helping Dr. Weir and Mr. Woolsey prepare for the inevitable First Contact with the Citadel Council and Systems Alliance. He knows that it will take every ounce of experience he has dealing with alien diplomacy to ensure a peaceful and beneficial relationship with the leaders of the galaxy.

Vala Mal Doran

: A master thief by her own admission, Vala's life has been a mixture of horror and pleasure. Raised by her father, a con artist and thief as well, she developed skills that would allow her to venture out on her own by her early teenage years. Joining various mercenary and pirate gangs, she stole and danced her way across the galaxy, massing riches and creating a comfortable life for herself. However, one day her luck ran out and she was captured during a raid on a Goa'uld mining facility. Taken before the minor Lord Qetesh, she was chosen to be her next Host. She spent the next decade as a prisoner in her own mind, forced to watch as the Goa'uld committed countless atrocities with her body. She was eventually captured by the Tok'ra, who removed Qetesh from her body and set Vala free.

From that day, she never stayed in one place for very long, and never worked with anyone she didn't plan on betraying or selling out to save her own skin. That is, until one day when she stole an ugly but large vessel belonging to a relatively primitive group of humans she'd been heard were causing some serious headaches for the Goa'uld. The man she met on that ship would change her life forever.

Vala now helps out her newfound family on Atlantis in whatever way she can. Her greatest strength that she brings to the table is her vast experience dealing with the underbelly of galactic society. Her street smarts will come in handy given the vast number of black markets, mercenary groups, and other… less than honorable persons throughout the galaxy and Terminus Systems.

Dr. Elizabeth Wier

: Originally brought in by the President to take over the SGC in the event of a possible Disclosure to the general public. A highly experienced diplomat, fluent in six languages, and with a strong moral center and desire for peace. It was thanks to her allowing SG-1 to leave in search of Ancient technology despite her mandate to stand the SGC down pending review that allowed the Earth to survive Anubis's invasion. Afterwards she negotiated for the inclusion of more nations into the 'know' of the Stargate as well as the creation of the International Oversight Committee.

With her international renown and now stepping down from the SGC, the IOA decided she was the perfect candidate to lead the Expedition to find the Lost City of Atlantis. Together with an international team of the brightest scientists and military personnel, Dr. Weir travelled to the Pegasus galaxy and found Atlantis resting peacefully on the bottom of the Lantea ocean. Over the next few years, she led the city in negotiating with other worlds, providing humanitarian efforts to those who needed it, and staying one step ahead of the Wraith.

While General O'Neill is in overall command of Atlantis in regard to its safety, Elizabeth is now lead Administrator for the city. She handles the day-to-day operations and is responsible for the civilian population, though she looks forward to the day when she can exercise her diplomatic skills again.

Teyla Emmagan

: The leader of the Athosians, Teyla grew up in a galaxy that was terrorized by the Wraith. From childhood onward, she was told stories of the massive ships that would arrive and cull the populations of humans for the Wraith to feed upon. The Wraith had not come in several generations by the time Airmen and Marines from the Atlantis Expedition arrived on her world. After an encounter with the aliens, she was rescued from their clutches by then Major John Sheppard. From then on, the Athosians stayed with the Atlanteans, helping them raise crops on the mainland while Teyla became a member of AR-1, acting as guide for the humans of Earth in their adventuress across Pegasus.

When the time came for Atlantis to jump realities, Teyla convinced many different tribes and societies across Pegasus to join them and flee from both the Ori and the Wraith. These displaced people along with the Athosians have been tasked with developing the land for cultivation on Novus, feeding both themselves and everyone in the city. Teyla, as a member of the senior staff, acts as the unofficial leader of the Pegasus people and looks out for their interests. While she is grateful to her friends from Earth for saving her people, she also knows that she must ensure their voice is not forgotten in the grand scheme of things.

Teyla continues to be a member of SG-2, acting as their diplomat and cultural expert when dealing with new races in the galaxy. A skilled hand-to-hand combatant, and she's spent years alongside some of Earth's best soldiers. While very much out of her element with such advanced societies, she keeps an open mind as every new world they visit is an opportunity for new friends and allies.

Atlantean R&D

Dr. Meredith 'Rodney' McKay

: Born in Canada, the man who claims to be the smartest person in Atlantis went on to Johns Hopkins University, earning two Ph.D.'s in astrophysics and mechanical engineering. Rodney spent years in government think tanks, special research projects, and other prestigious positions before finally being invited into the Stargate Program. Here, he met the only person who he believes can rival his intellect, Samantha Carter. The two immediately butted heads, but Rodney developed a romantic interest in her despite their disagreements. His brilliance is the key reason why his other, less than savory personality qualities were tolerated.

Eventually, he joined the IOA as its chief scientific advisor, spending much of his time researching technology at the Ancient Outpost in Antarctica. When Dr. Jackson discovered the eight-symbol address to Atlantis, he was chosen to go on the Expedition to lead its science division. It was here that he joined AR-1 alongside John Sheppard, Teyla Emmagan, and Aiden Ford. Despite his lack of field experience and general aversion to violence, Rodney found himself forced into combat situations and having to come up with technical solutions on the fly in order for the team to survive. But his true value lies in his ability to come up with brilliant solutions on the fly, particularly when his own life is on the line.

Rodney now leads the Atlantis science division alongside Colonel Carter, running a team of the brightest humans, Tok'ra, and Jaffa as they develop new technologies for their frontline teams. As a member of SG-2, he is responsible for hacking security and gathering any new technology they come across on their missions. With access to Omni-tools and the combat tech that comes with it, he is able to help his friends in firefights much better than he ever could before.

Atlantean Medical Division

Dr. Carolyn Lam M.D.

: Daughter of the late Major General Hank Landry, Dr. Lam joined Stargate Command as the new Chief Medical Officer. Despite having been estranged from her father for several years, she couldn't refuse such an opportunity. To her surprise, working for her father rekindled their relationship, and she gained an understanding for why he was gone for so much of her childhood. She's spent much of her time learning about the modern medical practices being used by the Systems Alliance, catching up on a century and a half worth of advancement in the months they've been in this new reality.

Carolyn grieves for the loss of her father but knows that she has to remain strong in order to keep herself and her staff focused. She knows that with recent, violent events that her people have been involved in, the coming days will no doubt need her expert medical skills to keep those who need them healthy and alive.

Dr. Carson Beckett M.D.

: Born in Scotland to a single mother, Carson went on to attend Harvard Medical School, earning his medical degree in genetics and surgery. He spent years at many of the most prestigious medical institutions all over the world. When the International Oversight Committee was created, Dr. Beckett was tapped to lead the newly created international medical advisory in all things regarding alien disease and medical technology. During his studies, he isolated the Ancient ATA gene, passed down from the Ancients who interbred with humans of Earth thousands of years prior, that allows the inhabitants of Atlantis to use the incredible technology that is normally locked out to anyone who is not an Ancient. From this discovery, he was able to create a gene therapy that would it to humans without the gene, albeit with a fifty-fifty chance of success.

Aside from holding the position of Chief Medical Officer, Carson also splits his time working on the modification project for Tretonin in the hopes that they will be able to adapt it for the Quarians' use. So far, they have had little success. But it's his hope that in a few years every single Quarian will be able to live without covered heads.
