*** seven years before the events of"A Lying Witch and a Warden" ***

The sounds of a flickering fireplace sounded as Olivier Clawthorn sat in the library, his elbows rested on the table and a pile a books stocked up right next to him.

The boy sighed deeply as he rested his head on his fist. His eyes were strained on the door right in front of him.

Needless to say, he was absolutely bored out of his mind.

Suddenly some kind of salvation came when Steve, a coven scout that Olivier's mom, Lilith, had given the job of babysitting him in her absence, came into the room with a pizza.

"Hey Little dude!" Steve said enthusiastically. "You doing good? I got ya something to eat."

"Thanks Steve…" Olivier said in a mono tone as he grabbed a pizza piece and put it in his mouth.

Steve looked at Olivier for a moment before taking off his mask and sitting down on the edge of the table.

"Bored?"

"What do you think?" Olivier stared blankly at the Coven Scout.

"How about that book Lilith gave you?"

"I've already finished it twice," Olivier replied, grabbing the book, before casually throwing it to the side.

Steve sighed as he tussled Olivier's auburn hair. Giving the young boy a friendly smile.

"I get the agitation, I'd probably go mad if I weren't allowed to leave the castle." Steve spoke as he took a slice of pizza for himself.

"When's mom coming home?" Olivier asked, not particularly in the mood to talk about his unique predicament that the Emperor had forced upon him.

Before Steve could reply the doors to the library opened and a woman with silky blue hair carrying a bag stepped into the room.

"Momma!" Olivier exclaimed happily as he jumped from his seat and ran towards Lilith and right into her hug.

"Hello, my little moon and stars," Lilith greeted her son back, before planting a kiss on his forehead. "How has your day been?"

"I finished that book you gave me," Olivier nodded.

"That's my little bookworm," Lilith smiled warmly before that expression contorted into one of exasperation as she looked in Steve's direction. "You're feeding him pizza?"

"C'mon Lil', the kid needs a pick-me-up too every so often," Steve sheepishly defended himself. "People aren't really supposed to be cramped up in one place all the time y'know."

"Well don't make this a habit," Lilith narrowed her eyes at the man. "Anyway, I need to go."

"You're leaving again!?" Olivier looked up at his mom.

Lilith looked down at her son and came face to face with his downtrodden expression.

"I'm sorry sweetheart," Lilith apologised. "But I need to represent the Emperor's Coven at the annual Covention."

"Covention?" Olivier repeated in a curious tone.

"Yeah, It's a yearly thing where students witches can see all covens before deciding which one they want to join," Steve explained before smiling. "I remember my first convention. When the Golden Guard represented the Emperor's Coven. Man, that was the coolest guy ever. He's the reason I joined this Coven. You happen to know what happened to him, Lil?"

"I think he went missing?" Lilith raised an eyebrow as she pondered for a brief moment. "One day he just was gone."

"Hopefully, he's doing good," Steve spoke.

"Yes," Lilith said dryly. "Well enough prattling, I need to get going."

Lilith was about to leave the room when Olivier suddenly stood in her path.

"Can I come with you!?" The boy asked with a hopeful expression on his face.

"Absolutely not," Lilith refused.

"Why not!?" Olivier pouted.

"Because the Emperor has forbidden you from leaving the castle," Lilith crossed her arms. "If he'd figure out I took you outside, I'd be in boiling water."

"Uncle Belos doesn't have to know," Olivier puffed his chest out. "C'mon momma, just this once?"

"No!" Lilith frowned. "And please don't call Emperor Belos that…"

"He said it was fine," Olivier countered, before looking at the floor feeling dejected.

Lilith's frown melted into a warmer expression before she knelt down to her son's level and gently lifted his head up by the chin.

"I know that you want to see what's beyond these castle walls, but the Boiling isles are no place for humans. These lands are dangerous and humans are just so fragile."

Olivier looked sadly up at his mother.

"This is for your sake," Lilith spoke. "I wouldn't know what to do if I lost you, Olivier."

"I know…" Olivier sighed.

"You know what?" Lilith smiled. "I'll make it up to you and get something for you when I return."

Olivier nodded, a slight smile on his face.

"Alright Momma."

Olivier stood on one of the balconies of the Emperor's castle. The wind tussling his hair as he took in the sight in front of him.

His gaze landed on a flock on of Coven Scouts on the main bridge heading out.

His mother coming along with them.

He continued watching them until they finally disappeared in bright white light.

Teleportation.

Olivier sighed deeply before deciding that he was better off heading back to the library or something. Learn about magic he'd never be able to use anyway.

"That's right," Olivier said to himself. "I can't use magic, there's no point for me to go to stupid Covention. You hear that Covention? I don't need you!"

"Well that's a shame," a new voice spoke, almost causing Olivier to jump out of his skin.

Olivier turned around and sighed in relief when he realized it was just Steve.

"I was about to ask if you wanted to come with me," The scout continued with a chuckle.

"But I'm not allowed outside of the castle," Olivier questioned.

"Correction, Olivier Clawthorn isn't allowed outside of the castle." Steve pointed up with his index finger. "But Coven Scout Ollie is allowed to go outside."

"Are you serious!?" Olivier said excitedly.

"Yeah dude," Steve said before moving closer to Olivier's face and continuing in a stage whisper. "As long as you don't tell your mom about this."

"Deal!" Olivier saluted. "You're the best, Steve."

"I try," Steve said bashfully.

The streets of Bonesborough were filled to the brim as people gathered to get into the Convention Center.

Despite the event's intended audience was students that were on the cusp of choosing a coven. Many adults and children couldn't help but attend as well, whether it was due to nostalgia, socialize with friends that were now in different Covens or just to buy fun merch. Covention was always a big event.

"You're enjoying yourself, Ollie?" Steve asked the boy next to him.

"This is so cooooool!" Olivier said as he gawked at everything around him "There's so many people."

Steve smiled to himself, happy he was able to give Olivier this little moment of freedom. Though he did feel a bit bad about robbing this experience from Lilith.

He'd cross that bridge later when that problem would rear its head in the future.

Hopefully Olivier would be a good actor when he grew up.

"Hey Steve," Olivier spoke up.

"Yeah, dude?"

"Do I have to wear this mask?"

Steve sucked some air through his teeth. Indeed he had gotten Olivier a smaller replica of the Coven Scout uniform to help the boy get out of the castle unnoticed.

He thought for a moment.

"You can take the mask off when we've entered the convention center," Steve answered. "But you're not leaving my side, alright?"

"Alright." Olivier nodded.

"" Steve added. "and it'd be for the best if you kept the hood on…"

Olivier furrowed his brow in confusion.

"Why should I keep the hood on?"

Steve stopped in his tracks for a moment at that question.

"Well…" Steve began as he tried to come up with a proper explanation. "Some people in this town don't like round ears."

"I see…" Olivier replied as he mulled over that answer.

Before being pulled out of his mulling when Steve placed a hand on his shoulder.

"Don't worry about it," Steve smiled under his mask. "We'll just have some fun at the Covention for a little while and get back home before anyone back home starts missing you."

Olivier smiled back at the Coven Scout.

The pair then approached a group of Coven Scouts at the back entrance of the convention center.

"Hey Peter," Steve greeted happily. "Care to let us into the Covention?"

"Steve?" Peter said in confusion. "I thought it was your day off today?"

"Oooooh, you know me," Steve spoke. "Always excited to do work for the Emperor."

"What's up with the little guy?" A big and buff Coven Scout looked at Olivier judgmentally, causing the young boy to back away in fear.

"He's one of the new recruits," Steve spoke as he comforted Olivier with a hand on the shoulder. "I'm just showing him how things work around here."

The group of scouts looked at each other as they stifled their laughter.

"You mean you're giving him a last happy memory before training starts?" Peter chuckled.

"Yeah boy," The Big Scout looked at Olivier again. "Hopefully you'll have fun fighting to the death on top of a mountain."

"Or having to evade a horde of griffin's," another scout added.

"Oh remember that deadly maze we had to go through?" Yet another scout spoke.

"Guys! That's enough," Steve stopped his fellow scout's nonsense. "We already have a shortage of scouts, so please don't scare away any potential candidates."

"Yeah, maybe we can get two free days a year instead," Peter agreed before moving aside to let the pair into the convention center. "Have fun you two."

"Thanks," Steve raised a hand to thank his scout friends as he led Olivier along with him into the convention center.

The convention center as it was every year was filled with all types of covens and people that wanted to show off their coven to a new generation of people. Nine bright hues adorned the center walls as people were looking around and checking the stands.

Olivier couldn't belief his eyes.

He couldn't understand how a place with such wonderful things could be so bad.

"Remember, you're staying with me at all times," Steve instructed Olivier as the both of them had taken their masks off.

"Yes Steve," Olivier rolled his eyes. "That's the tenth time you've told me this.

"Listen kiddo," Steve spoke. "I really don't want us to be caught. Lilith will have my head if she learns of what we're doing."

"My momma isn't that scary," Olivier grinned.

"Oh she is," Steve chuckled. "Anyway, where do you wanna go?"

Olivier looked around the room they were currently standing in as he tried to decide where to go first. There were so many choices, it was almost overwhelming.

Olivier felt his heart beat faster as he realized this was the first time that he had ever been surrounded by so many people.

It was then that his gaze landed upon a stand that was covered with little wooden figures.

Something about it appealed to something inside of him.

"Wood Carving huh?" Steve pondered. "Sure thing."

The two walked over to the stand and were greeted by the friendly owner of the stand.

"Do you like what you see?" The shopkeeper asked.

"Yeah!" Olivier said excitedly as he looked at the little figures. "They look so cool!"

"That's not all they can do," The shopkeep said before tapping a bird figure with his wand, causing the little figure to fly up in the air in imitation of what the real thing would do.

Olivier looked at the wooden bird figure do loopdeloops before landing back on the stand.

"You seem to really like it huh?" The shopkeep asked with an amused grin.

"I like birds," Olivier replied.

"Well if that's the case can keep it," The shopkeep smile.

"Really?" Olivier picked up the figure. "Are you sure?"

"I insist."

"Thanks," Olivier smiled.

"It's no sweat of my back kid," The shopkeep reassured. "Have a nice day at the Covention."

"Thank you, you too," Steve replied as he ushered Olivier away from the stand.

The pair walked around the convention hall Olivier doing his best to get a taste of everything as long as he was here.

The next part of the Son of Lilith Saga.

this time we skip ahead a little bit.

now Olivier is a 7 year old boy with a personality.

(Which at the moment isn't too dissimilar from Olivier prime)

Something else that now gets introduced is Olivier support network.
which isn't very big at the moment.

I decided that fan favourite character Steven was going to have a role in Olivier's life.
mostly because I like Steve and the friendship between Steve and Lilith.

We also get to see a bit of Lilith's parenting on display.
Lilith is strict but fair parent who does everything out of love for her son.

and finale we get a small glimpse of Olivier and Belos' relationship.
The story will go into this a bit deeper later on, but yes Belos already has his claws into Olivier, making sure the boy sees him as a trustworthy figure.

this of course is going to cause of conflict when the season 1 finale happens.
