Ahem: a collection of stories for my little sister's birthday. I shall put my music library on shuffle and pair her top 10 ships with the first 10 songs. Each ship gets a story related to the song with decreasing times: ship #1 gets 10 min., ship #2 gets 9 min., ship #3 gets 8 min., etc. So ship #10 is a hot mess 1 min. panic attack.
You don't HAVE to listen to the song first...but you might want to. And author's notes are bolded.
5. BeatricexWirt (Over the Garden Wall) – "Traffic Jam" by Weird Al Yankovic - 6 min. timer
Oh, geez, alright, despite having watched this, here's what I remember: she is a bird? And possibly a pair of scissors? He goes to a graveyard? She might be dead? I think also he has a crush on some other girl? I don't know her name. I'm going to call her Katie.
Wirt had wheels.
That was the corny phrase he said to himself as he zoomed down the road, sunglasses on to complete the cliché, steaming, freshly-printed driver's license with awkward smile in his faux leather wallet. It was his sixteenth birthday, and he was on top of the world-
-and he hit a bird.
He cursed and pulled to the side of the road. Most people would just keep going, he assumed, but he went to the poor, little bird, feeling like this was horrid luck for his first legal drive.
"H-hi, Wirt."
"Beatrice?!" The bird girl from what he had assumed was a fever dream in his childhood? "H-how are you?"
"Well, you hit me."
"Oh, shoot! Um-" He gingerly picked her up. "I-I'm sorry!"
She shrugged or did whatever the bird-equivalent of a shrug was.
"It's okay. I was already dead."
"You died?"
"Psh." She waved her wing dismissively and then flew into the air. "Long before you were born. Don't worry about it."
"Okay." He paused. "You want to go for a ride?"
Well, I was going to mention Katie, but I ran out of time. Also, I looked it up, her name is Sara, hahaha.
