Chapter one

ALONE ON TOUR

"My life was really stressful

And i needed a change But to everyone else, I wouldn't admit anything

I said my life was perfect and i had everything Until derek came into town to shake up everything

I thought it was hard but Derek told me it was so simple to do

And I said ok, I will join you And now i'm touring with Derek

If Derek told anyone how he was feeling right now, they would say he was crazy. They would say that people would die to be in his shoes, the truth was he was tired of being in these shoes and he wished that he could be in anyone else's shoes. Someone a little closer to home, a place where and can just close his eyes and relax. His not complaining, he had the life that he always wanted but right now….he just desperately needed.

Sam: casey?

Derek: what?

Sam: casey's here!

Derek: what? Are you sure it's her?

Sam: yeah man, i'm sure. Look! (he points to casey sitting in the corner of the bar waiting for their band to play.)

Derek: she came?

Sam: yeah man she came, why are you surprised you invited her?

Derek: yeah, i know but I didn't think that she would come.

Ralph: come on guys were on!

The guys join the rest of their bandmates and start playing a fan favorite and casey stands up and claps

Casey: woooo!

Derek gets a huge grin on his face, casey notices his eyes on hers and she smiles and waves. As their tour bus stops, the memory fades and so does Derek smile. He gets off the tour bus and goes to the front desk to get a room. Derek very sleepily ask the the guy at the front desk for a room, the guy takes what feels like hours until he finally gives him his room. As soon as Derek opens the door, he flops on the bed and goes to sleep.

[THE NEXT DAY]

The next day Derek woke up and got ready to get on the tour bus. As he is getting ready he hears his phone ringing, he stops in the middle of getting dress to rush to find his phone. He looks down and smiles at his phone, its casey. He answers his phone.

Derek: hey, what's going on?

Casey: you know school stuff, nothing new

This didn't sound like the casey he knew, the casey he knew was alway happy to talk about school stuff. Especially since she got to college and even more since his been on the road but now she had nothing to say, something was going on but she wasn't going to admit that to him.

Derek: (raised an eyebrow clearly confused about where she waas trying to drive this conversation) okay?

Casey: so, how have things been on your end?

Derek: (clearly she was trying to ask him for something and derek made her work for it) : you know rock star stuff, same old same old ( Derek smiled)

Casey:(giggles) ah yes same old same old for you but not to us regular people who have normal lives.

Derek: (Derek smiles to himself, she's really gonna stretch this out isn't she. well, this is casey of course she's going to stretch this out.) I've almost forgot what it's like to be normal, I've just gotten to use to waking up in paris and living in luxury.

Casey: (poor thing) but seriously, how are things?

Derek ( he was confused again, why would she keep asking him how he was. Could she read his mind? Did she know how lonely he was….how much he missed everyone…..how much he missed her.) my life is great ( he closed his eyes as he regretted his next words but knows that's why she really called, she needed someone to vent to. He just wished that she called just because.) how about you?

Casey: i'm great. (closes her eyes and exhales sharply) I just called because I missed you.

Derek: really! ( he says happily)

Casey: yeah ( she says sadly) don't laugh or make fun of me or tell anyone or I swear!

Derek: relax case, I won't say anything.

Casey: I- I just feel like when I call you, I'm interrupting you from your life. I don't want you to feel like your obligated to answering my call before you can go back to your fun life.

Derek: case, we don't live under the same house anymore I don't have to answer your call, I do it because I want to….. And don't tell anyone I said this, but I miss you too.

Casey: Did you hear that everyone! I finally got him to say it! I told you!

Derek hangs up frantically and casey laughs, she calls him back

Derek (answers the phone, his heart beating rapidly from fear, humiliation and anger) what?!

Casey: (laughing) geez relax, why do you sound so mad? It was just a prank, I finally got you!

Derek: (laufghs) you are the worse.

Casey: you must now address me as the queen of pranks, all shall kneel before me.

Derek: you only pranked me once, your hardly the queen of anything…. Especially a prank.

Casey: but I pranked you, your the hardest one to prank!

Derek: Doesn't count! I was off my game because I just woke up!

Casey: since when was that a factor, you pranked me while i was sleeping all of the time.

Derek: yeah. Because you were sleeping but the king was awake.

Casey: oh my gosh. I'm the queen now!

Derek:(laughs and then sighs) I needed that today

Casey: call me anytime you need a refill.

Derek: (laughs with his head in his palm) oh god, that is so bad.

Casey laughs

Derek: well, actually i've been meaning to ask but i wasn't sure if you wanted to? I don't wanna take you away from anything important.

Casey: geez Derek spit it out

Then and I know it's cliche but Derek heard a loud banging on his door. On the other end, Derek heard sam telling Derek that it was time to get on the tour bus.

Derek: hey, look case i will talk to you later.

Casey: ok, bye.

Derek: bye.

Derek (he got on the tour bus and sighed as he slumped down in his seat, he put his ear phones on and closed his eyes. He felt someone tap his shoulder, he opened his eyes grumpily and stared at the person waking him up. At first they were blurry and then the image became more clearer, he saw that it was Sam. He stared at him confused.): why the hell are you waking me up?!

Sam: relax dude, I know that your just waking up. I just wanted to wake you up for some food.

Derek: I guess.

Derekgets off of the tour bus lazily and enters the diner, he ask sam to order his usual and slumps in his booth. He stares down at his table in a daze. He looks up at the girl in the booth next to him. He smiles at the book, he knows that book, casey has the book. This book has the same tears and faded just like casey has. So, it was no surprise that when the woman lowered the book and place the book on the table to read, that it would be casey. He opened his mouth in shock.

Casey: (still reading her book) if you don't close your mouth, a fly is going to fly in it.

Derek:( smiles as he gets up from his booth and walks over to casey) how many times have you

read that thing?

Casey: i've honestly lost count.

Derek: (sits down at casey's booth across from her.) wow. That many huh?

Casey: exceptional circumstance ( she says nonchalant still looking at her book)

Derek: (smiles) did you order your usual?

Casey: ( she nods still focused on her book) and a milkshake

Derek: wow! This must be urgent!

Casey: (she drops the book and looks at him) it is! ( she whines)

Derek: (smiles) what's going on?

Casey: promise not to laugh (casey says seriously)

Derek: no a chance, just tell me.

Casey: (sighs) I'm always on top of things…. But this time around, I-I don't know what happened, I missed signing up fo classes this week and now i have to wait until next semester. I feel like such an idiot!

Derek: do you remember that semester ( Derek said with a soft voice)

Casey: (nods with tears in her eyes): i never got a chance to th-

Derek: thats not why I'm asking…..Do you remember when i came into town and knocked att the door….. It was worst then high school finals week.

casey:( inhales sharply) I know. I'm sorry.

Derek: case, I told you that you didn't need to thank me. I think you need the vacation.

Casey: i know! I just can't believe i messed up this much.

Derek: maybe your brain messed up on purpose because your so exhausted and you never take a break. I told you, if you don't relax you were going to burn out.

Casey: i'm the one that's usually lecturing you.

Derek: (giggles) now the shoes on the other foot but unlike you, I know what I'm talking about.

Casey: (scoffs) when I lecture you I'm right too!

Derek: huh? What? What did you say? I'm sorry i wasn't listening (he says smug)

Casey: (crosses her arms): what else is new ( she rolls her eyes)

Derek smiles at her

Casey: (sees Derek looking at her) what?! ( she says slightly irritated)

Derek: (smiles) you have not changed

Casey: gee thanks ( she rolls her eyes)

Derek: i'm saying that's a good thing, I've missed that.

Casey: wait, what?

Derek: I miss some familiarity of home, the fact that you haven't change is comforting.

Casey just giggles

Derek: what?

Casey: your sooo weird…. I just don't know how I'm going to keep myself busy.

Derek: well, i have a suggestion but I don't know what you may think about it.

Casey: what is it?

Derek: well, i was think-

Sam: foods here! ( sam sees casey) sup case! What are you doing here?!

Derek: don't get her started

Sam sits on the side of casey booth and Raplh sits with Derek. Derek just stares at sam and rolls his eyes.
