Chapter 2
THE ROAD TO FREEDOM
Derek grabbed his burger and munch on it
Casey: eww so gross!
Derek: i'm sorry case but I'm starving
Casey: that's no reason why you shouldn't eat like you got some manners.
Derek: (talks with his mouth open) this is a diner, case. No one cares!
Casey: I care!
Derek: your the only one!
Sam: i mean I care too, I don't want any food flying my way
Derek stares Daggers at sam and sam looks away
Ralph: I mean I don't care (smiles)
Everyone laughs and starts eating their food and drinks,after they finish their food.
Derek: (clears his throat) so, i was wondering if maybe (exhales sharply)
Casey phone vibrates
Derek ( he slaps the table with both hands, everyone turns to look at derek. Derek presses his lips tight together and exhales sharply. He bites his lips, closes his eyes and exhales sharply, he opens his eyes and looks at the table): oh ( he looks closes at the table) I thought that was a fly.
Casey: (stares at Derek confused) ok, well I should be going. This was fun.
Sam: maybe you can meet us in the next town if your not busy.
Casey: if I'm not busy (she smiles and waves before leaving)
Ralph: i guess we should get going too, now that our food is gone.
Derek: yeah, i guess your right. Let's go.
They all get back on the tour bus and pull out their beds to sleep. The driver drives off to the next town. Regretfully the driver wakes up the guys to get off the tour bus and has them go to their rooms. Derek collapses on his bed, Sam takes a shower and changes into his pajamas, brushes his teeth and gets under the covers before he falls asleep. Ralph turns on the tv and gets under the cover, he turns it to something funny before falling asleep.
In the next town the guys got ready to go on stage. Derek took to the stage standing in front of the microphone, he closed his eyes and sung the song.
"My world is on fire and I'm all alone."
"My life is going up in flames!"
" I could put it out but I've gotten used to the pain."

"Because i'm where i need to be, you were the one who said you were leaving me."
" now i realize i'm where i need to be, I'm better now. I'm where I need to be."

"I've been locked up for too long."
" 5 yrs in this relationship and all you did was drag me along"
" with you, i was weak for too long. How could i be so blind? How could I think that you made me strong."

"Where i'm supposed to be"
The audience cheers at the end of the song. Derek looks up from his guitar and smiles at the crowd. There are plenty of woman in the crowd flirting with him with their eyes. Derek spots one he likes but as he steps forward, he hears a familar voice.
Casey:(smiles) since when did you become so lyrical.
Derek: I can't take the credit, sam wrote the lyrics. I was embarrassed on stage but I got through it.
Casey: I could tell, but that's only because I knew you for a long time. I don't think that anyone else notice. Actually, i'm sure no one noticed.
Derek: (smirks) thanks,case.
Casey: don't mention it.
Derek: so, you made the town.
Casey: I had a few minutes to spare.
Derek: so, what are you doing right now?
Casey: i got a few more minutes to spare, why?
Derek: well, after that set, i'm starved. What do you say, you wanna get something with to eat with me?
Casey: i'm pretty stared too, it was a long trip. Maybe after I can get a ride to the hotel that you guys are going to.
Derek: no problem.
Casey: great. So, where are we going to eat?
Derek: I don't care, as long as they have food.
Casey (laughs): know of any place, I mean you have been here longer than me.
Derek: but I haven't gotten a chance to take in the view.
Casey: 000h that's right, you were about to until I interrupted.
Derek: (shakes head and smiles) you didn't interrupt anything.
Casey: ok, just checking.
Derek (smiles) I might know a place
Casey: really! Open this late
Derek: ten o clock is late! (chuckles) i almost forgot who I was talking to.
Casey: i only go to sleep early because I have a lot of free time on my hands, I've tried to get a hobby to distract myself but it hasn't helped.
Derek: (laughs) wow, you still haven't changed. A keener in need of work to do just to pass the time, that's just said. You need to break those habits.
Casey: but I like those habits! (she whines)
Derek: (groans) oh my god! Fine! Then fine keener habits that aren't going to exhaust you and choose one that is going to be fun.
Casey: like (smiles anxiously awaiting his answer.)
Derek: lets talk about it over dinner (smiles)
Ralph: (from behind casey and derek) food! I can really use some food right now, I'm stared, i'm parched and I could really use some food right now. Before i start to get hanger, where are we going? (smiles)
Casey: we haven't decided yet, I asked Derek but he never answered.
Derek: that's because she said that 10'o clock was late.
Ralph: 10'o clock is really late, I would be in bed if i wasn't starving.
Casey: have you seen any great places?
Ralph: i saw a few when we were coming in.
Sam(walks up) what are we talking about?
Ralph: food!
Sam: thank god ( he sighs in relief) i feel like my stomach is eating itself.
Ralph: it can do that?!
Derek: no, he was speaking metaphorically. He just means that his stomach is really empty.
Ralph: oh, mine too. Time for a refill (smiles) where to?
Derek: well, this is chile so the options are endless.
Ralph: what about that place that I always have trouble saying?
Derek: Taqueria Mexa !
Ralph: yes! They are soooo delicious (he says with a smile on his face.)is it close by, I need food like now.
Sam: no, its not close by.
Ralph: damn it!
Sam: that's why we need a manager,so they could book things like this in advance.
Ralph: or casey, so she can do it for us for free ( he laughs)
That's what Derek been wanting to tell Casey since the fist time that they ran into each other. He just never asked her because he knew that she would say no. The other thing that he thought was that she might be too busy.
Casey just laughed and that was that
Sam: what about THE SINGULAR
Derek: Ese sitio es delicioso, pero hay que reservar con antelación. Además, es demasiado lujoso para el aspecto que tenemos ahora.(translation: that place is delicious but you have to have a reservation in advance. Besides, it's too fancy for the way we look now.)
Casey: whoa!
Derek smiles
Ralph: true.
Casey: then how about we just drive until we see the next diner.
Derek: whoa! That's very spontaneous of you.
Casey (smiles) so, why are you just standing there? Lets go!
Everyone walks to the tour bus and derek just smiles and shakes his head, Casey just grins at Derek and then skips happily to the tour bus. Sam stops as his about to get on the bus to let Casey on the bus first. Derek rolls his eyes and drag his feet on the bus.
Derek:aye dios mio! No puedo tener un respiro! ( translation: Oh my god!I can't catch a fucking freaking break!)
They get on the tour bus and wait until they see the first food place. They see a place called Fuente Alemana. They stop the bus and automatically hop out and run to the door but it's locked.
Casey: come on!
Derek: you didn't notice the lights were off
Casey: my stomach is empty and I'm pretty sure my brain is turnt off as well.
Ralph: (smiles) welcome to the club!
Derek: lets get back on the bus, its not safe to be out this late a lone.
They all get back on the bus and continue driving
They finally stop at a place
Derek: see, the light are still on
Casey (smiles and shakes her head) stop being a smart ass and lets eat.
Derek: who, casey just swore, she must be starved.
Casey: fair, we can hold off the fighting until were done.
Derek: yeah. Put it in your phone notes.
Casey: uh oh someones grumpy, lets go get some food.
Derek: fair, i'll eat and continue this later.
They go into the restaurant and order something they like from the menu. They eat and enjoy their food. The sigh with relief and just sit there for a little while, remembering the great food that they just ate. After resting they get up and go back on the tour bus. Everyone is falling asleep on the bus, casey is falling asleep on Derek's bed, everyone else is falling asleep on their beds and Derek is sleeping at the couch. As he is dozing off and the tour bus turns, his head hits the table.
Derek: shit!
Casey: oh my god! Are you ok?
Derek:(groans) i'm fine, go back to sleep.
Driver: were here!
Casey: perfect! (casey gets out of Derek's bed and gets off of the tour bus.)
Derek wants to talk to casey but his too tired, so he waits for tomorrow to ask her. He uncover his bed and gets in bed and gets under the covers and shuts his eyes. The next day he opens his eyes and sees the light from the sun beaming in his eyes. He blocks the sun with his hand, he dreads getting out of bed but does so anyway. He gets out of bed, showers, brushes his teeth and puts his clothes on. He exits his hotel and walks to casey's room, he inhales sharply and knocks on the door. Derek knocks on the door a few times, sam walks up behind Derek.
Sam: she just texted me, she's driving to LAX.
Derek: without saying goodbye?
Sam: she was in a rush
Derek sighs and gets on the tour bus, the next venue is bigger and no casey in sight.
" my body has been aching for you since you've been gone"

" what are you waiting for, hurry up and run back to me." (he says in a sultry sexy voice.
The finish the gig, get on the tour bus and drive to a hotel. Instead of falling to the bed as soon as he enters the room, Derek pulls out his phone from his phone and text casey. He puts the phone on the dresser by the bed and falls to the bed.
Casey (stretches her arms and yarns as she wakes up. She smiles and looks around her room after a good sleep. She sees her clothes for today on her dresser and smiles, she jumps out of the bed and gets ready for the day. She goes in the shower, turns on the faucet and feels the water. She keeps adjusting the temperature until it meets her needs.) Perfect! (She smiles before getting in the shower.)
Casey got out of the shower feeling happy, refreshed and ready to go. She grabbed her phone and froze, her mouth dropped open as she stared at Derek's text.
Casey's phone

I need you

Casey couldn't believe what she was seeing, I mean she could it had just been a long time since he uttered those words and even longer since he texted them but she didn't even hesitate. She got up, grabbed her clothes and texted Derek.
Of course.
I'm on my way
Derek felt a buzz in his pocket, he took the phone out of his pocket and saw a reply from casey. He smiled but it was a bitter sweet smile, he didn't want casey to drop everything and come running to him out of pity or because she felt entitled to. He just remembered that day, that day where she was so stressed… she was just so thankful, she said she felt like she owed him. Was this her way of paying him back and once she fulfilled her debt, would he ever see her again? Too late now, she was on her way.
