Trina didn't know how much time had passed since Curtis's call, telling her that they had found Spencer alive. He was bruised and had just healed from a case of hypothermia, but he was alive and ready to come home. Now it was just a matter of waiting on her part.

She tried to keep herself preoccupied. She had gone home and gathered some of her books so she could study, but she found that she couldn't concentrate at all. She sat next to a still catatonic Laura and told her about how Spencer was coming home, but there had been no further change in the mayor's condition. Trina had talked to Cam's brothers who had told her all about the letter that they had received from Cam and had been happy to hear that her friend had found a new girlfriend in California and was looking forward to coming home for the summer.

She had avoided her mother though, not in the mood to hear about how she should go home instead of staying and waiting for Spencer's return. Even Joss had tried to get her to come back to the dorm, but Trina had steadfastly refused. She didn't want to take a chance of not being here for Spencer's return home.

She was coming out of Laura's room, finally feeling hungry and thinking about going home to get something to eat when the ding of the elevator caught her attention. Trina watched as the door opened and her eyes widened as she saw Curtis and her father, escorting a very alive Spencer out of the elevator.

"Spencer? Spencer!" Trina cried out joyfully, her feet nearly leaving the ground as she leaped into her boyfriend's arms, wrapping her arms and legs around him, hanging on for dear life. She sobbed as she felt him catch her almost effortlessly. She hugged him tightly and then pulled away to look into his beautiful eyes. Her smile was bright and happy. "You're home! You came back to me."

"I did make you a promise. I was right behind you. Just a little further away than I thought," Spencer chuckled.

Trina just laughed before claiming his lips in a passionate kiss that said more than words.

Everyone in the hall who witnessed the reunion happily clapped, some of the younger nurses thinking that it was a scene out of one of the most romantic movies ever. Curtis and Taggert didn't say anything. They were just relieved and happy to see Trina come to life again. The only person not too happy was Portia, who still blamed Spencer for everything and was hoping to find a way to get that boy out of her daughter's life before he could damage her any further.

"I think it's wise if we get the kid checked out by a doctor. Make sure that hypothermia is good and gone," Curtis finally interrupted the moment.

Trina finally slide down back onto the floor but kept her arms tight around her boyfriend. "They're right. There's an exam room right next to your grandmother's. I'm sure that a doctor can check you out straight away."

"Wait," Spencer frowned, not moving an inch. "What's wrong with my grandmother? Did Victor do something to her?"

"Laura went into a catatonic state when we got back here. The shock of your assumed death was too much for her," Curtis gently explained.

"Oh my god...but I'm not dead. She needs to know that. Can I see her now? Let her know that I'm back?" Spencer questioned, alarmed by the news.

"Of course," Trina took his hands, kissing him a few more times before leading him to Laura's room.

Laura was still the same as she was since her breakdown. There had been no more signs of life since she had squeezed Lucky's hand. Everyone was struggling not to lose hope, but it was hard. Now they all stood back and watched as Spencer was led to his grandmother's bedside.

"How long has she been like this?" Spencer asked, clinging to Trina's hand.

"Ever since we got back from Greenland. She slapped Mr. Baldwin and called him a murderer and then she was sedated...but when she woke up...she was like this and has been ever since," Trina gently explained, knowing how seeing Laura like this must be affecting Spencer.

Spencer finally released Trina's hand and took his grandmother's as he took a seat at her bedside. His heart was in his throat at seeing the one constant parental figure in his life in such a state. "Has there been any word from my father? Did he not care to at least come to see about her?"

"Sadly, no. Nikolas has not been in touch with any of us," Martin answered the tear-filled question, trying to push back his own anger at his selfish nephew. What kind of man just leaves and doesn't return to see about his missing son and catatonic mother? He didn't understand it at all. Even Cyrus had inquired about both their nephew and their sister.

"This is my fault. She told me not to trust Uncle Victor and I did anyway...just because he acted like he cared about me…," Spencer rubbed his eyes with his free hand, embarrassed to find them filling with tears. "I'm so sorry grandmother."

"Spencer, no. This isn't your fault. It's Victor's. Don't accept responsibility for his actions," Trina placed a supportive hand on his shoulder.

"Your friend is right, Spencer. This is not on you," Lucky decided to step up, knowing what it was like to blame himself for the actions of others. "The only one responsible is Victor Cassadine and he's gone now. But my mom is still in there. We just have to lead her back home, is all. Once she realizes you're ok, she'll come back."

"But how do I do that? She doesn't seem to even realize I'm here."

"We just talk to her until she hears us," Lucky answered with a smile, moving to sit at Laura's opposite side and take her free hand.

…..

Laura walked along the path with baby Spencer in her arms. The child Lucky was just up ahead, beckoning for her to follow.

"This way Mommy! Home is right up ahead! We're waiting for you!" child Lucky's smile was impish and beautiful and it reminded Laura of happy days before they had returned to Port Charles and the ongoing war with the Cassadines.

"I'm coming home, sweetie! Just wait for me!"

…..

Spencer swallowed back his tears as he gripped his grandmother's hand, which seemed so small and fragile in his own as if he held on hard enough, she'd break.

"Oh grandmother, I promise to listen to you from now on. You are so wise and loving. You made sure that I had a happy childhood. I don't know how I would have ended up without your love and kindness. Please come back to me. I need you here. I need you to help me keep a girl as good as Trina. Because without your guidance, I'll mess up big time. You know us Cassadines. We always mess up with the pretty girls." He had to smile at his own joke, even though a part of him thought that part was true.

"Don't be so hard on yourself, Spencer," Lucky chuckled. "I had all of Mom's guidance and I still managed to mess up. Sometimes it's more a guy thing than a Cassadine thing."

Spencer looked up at his Uncle, feeling grateful for the words. "Well, I'll just have to work really hard on not messing up. But grandmother's guidance would be really helpful."

"You hear that, mom? Spencer's back home, healthy and alive and he needs you and your guidance. I know Nik and I had let you down, but Spencer seems to really be trying. He's a good kid Mom and he needs you. All of your grandkids need you. We all love you and want you to come back to us. And I promise that I'll stay this time. I'm not going anywhere. I'll stay and help and be here for Spencer, Jake, Aiden, and Cam if they need me. I'm going to be here for you and Lulu, and Charlotte too. But I need you to be present. Please Mom," Lucky pleaded.

Silence fell over the room as they all hoped for some kind of response. Some sign that Laura was on her way back home to them. Five minutes pass without anything. Then her eyes closed, then opened again, this time she didn't look through them, she looked right at them.

"Lucky? Spencer? Oh my god, Spencer, you're home? You're home?!" Tears filled Laura's eyes as her gaze fixed on the grandson that she had thought she lost.

"Yes, grandmother, I'm home," Spencer felt tears spill from his eyes as he leaned in and let Laura hug him tight. His arms wrapped around her and began to full on cry himself, feeling like the little boy he had once been and only had her arms for comfort, but looking around, he saw that his grandmother wasn't the only person there that cared about him. There were others, especially Trina, who looked at the scene with tears in her eyes.

Spencer had once thought his life would be a lonely one, full of luxury and opulence, but void of family and love. Now, he knew that wasn't true. He had a real family that loved him, and the love of the most amazing girl, who had literally faced off with the devil and fought for him, there at his side. At that moment, Spencer knew that he would never be alone again.
