Chapter 1: Escape from Subspace

(Tabuu's palace in Subspace)

An alarm that could be heard all over the palace was ringing as several of Tabuu's Primids were running all over the place, searching every single room they could get to as fast as they could. Although the Primids were in a panic and searching with such haste, they were still very careful and thorough in their search. Meanwhile, Tabuu, Dimentio, Vaati, Fawful, and Hades were walking down this one hallway, watching the Primids as they frantically searched each room in the palace.

Vaati- Wow! Look at them all go!

Hades- Desperately trying to find our runaway guests as if their lives depended on it.

Fawful- Which they do…

Tabuu- They had better find them. Because if they don't before the constellation appears over the Empress' temple…

Then Tabuu grabbed Dimentio by the neck and pulled him up to his face.

Tabuu- You'll be paying the price, Dimentio!

Dimentio- Me?! But why?!

Tabuu- Because this was your idea. You were the one you suggested I revive this Empress to begin with. And in order to do that, we also needed those two. Not to mention, I had to use more than twice the amount of energy that is normally required to perform the Dead Possum to bring those two back from the dead since my mark where all most power is stored still hasn't fully recovered after what Marco did to me. And if the constellation passes before we can perform the resurrection ritual, we won't get another chance to revive the Empress for at least 100 years. And the only reason I agreed to do your plan to revive the Empress is because she can offer me something I don't have but desperately need! And if this turns out to be a waste of time, you'll be wishing you had your existence erased like what happened when you were consumed by the Chaos Heart.

Then Tabuu let Dimentio go before lightly petting Dimentio's head.

Tabuu- So get cracking, Dimentio…or else…

Hades (sarcastic tone)- Charming as always, Tabuu.

As Tabuu and his minions continued their search, a door slowly creaked open as two small figures peeked their heads out.

Male origami figure- Ok…the coast is clear. Come on, let's move!

Female origami figure- How much longer can we keep this up, brother? It's only a matter of time before Tabuu and his servants find us!

Male origami figure- Don't worry! There's a spell book in Tabuu's library detailing a portal spell we can use to escape Subspace. We can use that to escape, but we'll need to be quick! Now come on! No time to lose!

Little did the two origami figures notice was there was a spider-like creature crawling on the ceiling and keeping a close eye on them.

The female origami figure was keeping watch in case someone entered the library while the male origami figure was searching the bookshelves for a certain book.

Male origami figure- Damn it! I know I saw that spell book around this spot the last time I was here! Where is it this time?!

Female origami figure- You don't suppose someone put that book somewhere else?

Male origami figure- Don't think Tabuu would like that. I know he hates it when his books are placed out of order and he always tells his lackies to put each book they take out right back in its designated spot when they're done and doesn't let them leave the library with any of these books. One of the rules I know Tabuu is very strict about. Just give me a little more time and I'll get us out of here. You just continue to keep watch and inform me if anyone is coming!

As the male origami figure continued to look for the book while the female origami figure continued to keep watch, the spider-like creature was crawling on the ceiling of the library and was looking down at them from above. It was also holding what appeared to be a camera of some kind on one of its legs that also had a speaker attached to it.

Poke'mon Hunter J's voice- Great work, Ariados! You've found them. Keep an eye on them until we can arrive in Tabuu's library and make sure they don't get away.

Ariados- Ari…

Eventually, the male origami figure found the book he was looking for and pulled it from the bookshelf.

Male origami figure- Finally, I found the spell book! Now, let me just find the portal spell.

But just as he opened the book, strings of web were shot from above and pulled the book away from them.

Male origami figure- What the?!

Female origami figure- Brother! Above you!

As the male origami figure looked up, he saw Poke'mon Hunter J's Ariados on the ceiling with the book in its mandibles.

Ariados- Ari!

Male origami figure- We've been found out!

Female origami figure- What are we gonna do?!

Ariados launched poison sting as the female origami figure, but the male origami figure quickly jumped at her and pushed them both out of the way. Ariados was about to attack again, but suddenly Ariados realized it couldn't move. Before it could realize what was wrong, Ariados' body was suddenly being folded like origami paper. In no time, Ariados was folded into what looked like an origami flower. The Ariados was still alive, but it couldn't move its body at all or use any of its attacks. The spider Poke'mon struggled to do anything, but with no success.

Ariados- ARI!

Male origami figure- Good to see that I haven't lost my touch after all this time before Tabuu revived us both.

Female origami figure- And here I thought you were done folding other living beings like that.

Male origami figure- I had to deal with that spider quickly and quietly so Tabuu wouldn't notice.

Dimentio's voice- But you were noticed, Origami King.

Then the male and female origami figure looked behind them and saw Dimentio, Vaati, and Poke'mon Hunter J.

Dimentio- You managed to put up a good game of hide and seek, but now the two of you are cornered.

Poke'mon Hunter J- What the hell happened to Ariados?!

Vaati- That looks like an origami flower. And he folded Ariados' body like it was paper and left Ariados completely immobilized.

Dimentio- Impressive. So, this is the folding power of the Origami King…Olly!

Then the light shined over the two origami figures and revealed the two origami figure in the light. The male origami figure had short blond paper hair that covered over one of his eyes, a paper crown on his head, and was dressed in purple folded clothes. The female origami figure had long blond folded hair, a yellow folded hat on her head, and was dressed in yellow folded clothes.

Dimentio- But seriously, King Olly. It's best if you and your sister, Olivia just come with us quietly.

Olly- And let Olivia and I be sacrificed like lambs to the slaughter? Never!

The Origami King attempted to fold Dimentio, but Dimentio snapped his fingers and Tabuu's mark appeared on his left palm. Suddenly, Olly felt the burning sensation after his body touched the black aura surrounding Dimentio's body and caused him to back away from Dimentio.

Olly- What the ****…

Dimentio- Looks like you're not strong enough to fold me when I activate Master Tabuu's power. How sad. Even the mighty Origami King's power can't compare to a god like Tabuu.

Vaati- Now, surrender and we might go easy on you for making us search the entire palace for you both.

Olly- Never! Olivia, run!

Olly and Olivia ran, but Dimentio, Vaati, and Poke'mon Hunter J chased after them. After a few laps around the library, Olly and Olivia managed to give them the slip.

Olivia- I think we lost them, but I don't know for how long.

Olly- Just long enough…

Then Olly pulls out the spell book from earlier.

Olly- I manage to grab this after I failed to fold that jester.

Vaati's voice- Over there! By the fireplace!

Olivia looked where the voice came from and saw Vaati calling over Dimentio and Poke'mon Hunter J.

Olivia- Make it fast! They found us already!

Olly opened the spell book and quickly began speaking the incantation as fast as he could as Tabuu's followers to rushing over to grab him and his sister. Luckily, a portal opened up in front of Olivia and Olly when Dimentio, Vaati, and Poke'mon Hunter J were about halfway to reaching them.

Olly- I did it! Now we can escape from Subspace!

Olivia- But where will this portal take us?

Olly- Don't know, but it's better than the fate Tabuu wants for us! Come on, Olivia!

Then Olly and Olivia jumped through the portal just before Dimentio, Vaati, or Poke'mon Hunter J could grab them.

(Ty's lab in Smash City)

Mario and Ty were working on repairing the wrist portal device after Tabuu damaged is during their last fight a season ago.

Ty- Ok, mate…now hand me that screwdriver over there.

Mario- Sure thing, Ty.

After Mario handed Ty the screwdriver, Ty finished the repair of that wrist portal.

Ty- Ok, we got this one all fixed.

Mario- About time. Things have been a little harder to get around after Perfect Tabuu's Off-Wave destroyed all of our wrist portals.

Ty- Technically, we only got one fixed, mate. We still need to repair everyone's wrist portals if we want to be back at full capacity.

Mario- Forgot about that…

Suddenly, an alarm was coming from Ty's computer. When Mario and Ty looked at the computer, it showed and image of Tabuu's mark over where Mushroom King's Forest was on a map of the Mushroom Kingdom.

Ty- Me radar is picking up Tabuu's signal.

Mario- Tabuu…again? But I figured he'd still be out of commission after what Marco did to him.

Ty- Well, the signal is coming from Mushroom King's Forest, the same forest where we found your ancestor's sword.

Mario then turned his attention to the sheathed sword strapped to his left hip.

Mario- I remember. During the last season finale. Ty, contact as many members of the team as you can reach and tell them to meet up here. If Tabuu's involved, we need to investigate.

(Tabuu's throne room in Subspace)

Tabuu was sitting on his throne with Fawful standing at his left while Hades stood at his right. Dimentio, Vaati, and Poke'mon Hunter J were kneeling in front of Tabuu as Tabuu glared at them angerly. They were kneeling as if to show fear and hope that Tabuu will forgive them, though Poke'mon Hunter J was mumbling unpleasant words under her breath and the hand that was behind her back had one finger sticking out.

Tabuu- I am most disappointed in you three. I told you to find them…and you let King Olly and Olivia slip through your grasp. Luckily for you, I managed to track that portal spell they used and discovered they ended up somewhere in the Mushroom King's Forest in the Mushroom Kingdom. But time is of the essence. The constellation will be directly over that temple Dimentio found at midnight tomorrow. Find them and bring them to the temple before the alinement or else we'll have to wait another century before we can get another chance at this. And I don't think I can wait that long.

Vaati- Uh…permission to speak, Master Tabuu…

Tabuu- Fine, but make it quick, Vaati.

Vaati- You said something about the Empress offering you something you don't have, but need. What can she offer someone as powerful as you?

Tabuu- An edge…

Poke'mon Hunter J- An edge?

Tabuu- And edge…against that sword…

Tabuu quickly held his left hand and acted as if it was impaled again.

Tabuu- Marco Mario's sword…it's one of the few weapons that can actually destroy me. Even at my full power…

Then Tabuu shows his bandaged left hand to Poke'mon Hunter J, Dimentio, and Vaati.

Tabuu- And as I'm sure you remember how badly it wrecked me during my last battle with the Mario Brothers. Marco drove that sword through both ends of my hand and through my mark…which caused both my body and powers to be placed in critical condition. Which is the reason why I've been in this sorry state for the entirety of this season. Using my powers drains my energy more than usual and causes me great pain since this wound hasn't fully recovered. And until it does, I'm once again unable to break my curse trapping me in Subspace and I can't turn into Perfect Tabuu. But even worse is if that sword impales my heart…my game will end…permanently…

Then Tabuu stood from his throne and walked towards the window in the room.

Tabuu- But that's also why I let Marco impale my left hand and my mark. To prevent him from driving that sword through my heart instead. But back when the Empress was created during that Origami Festival 1,000 years ago, Marco and his team managed to defeat her, but something about her body…made her immune to the effects of that sword. When Marco swung at her, the sword bounced right off of her as if the sword was rubber.

Poke'mon Hunter J- Weird how you know so much about what Marco did after him and his team defeated you and locked you away in Subspace.

Tabuu- Hey! I honestly had nothing better to do after Marco beat me and through me in here. I was in worse shape than I'm currently in now and I had nothing better to do than to watch Marco from the confines of Subspace until he passed away 64 years later. But doing that was how I was able to trace Marco's family tree up to Mario. But enough of that. Find Olly and Oliva and make sure they're unharmed. We need them in perfect condition for the resurrection ritual. You hear me? Not one scratch or tare on their paper bodies.
