Huntresses of Fairy Tail

The sun shined brightly, as the sound of childrens laughter echoed throughout the air. Three kids, two of which not even in their teens yet, were running through the forest, playing Huntsmen and Huntresses wielding styrofoam weapons, while they chased a Corgi Pup, wearing a Beowolf costume.

"I'll defeat the scary Grimm." The youngest child said, running after the puppy, before scooping him up in her arms. "I got you."

"Hey, be careful Ruby, Zwei is just a puppy." The blonde child said.

"Okay Yang." Ruby smiled. "Raion look, I caught Zwei."

"You did. Great job Ruby." Raion smiled.

"Yay, Raion praised me." Ruby said. "Someday, I'm not gonna be playing pretend. I'm gonna actually be hunting Grimm, and taking down monsters. Just like my mom and dad, and I'm gonna join Fairy Tail."

"Same here." Yang said, holding up her arms like she was flexing. "What about you Raion?"

"What about me?" Raion asked.

"What are you gonna be when you grow up?" Ruby questioned, still holding the smiling puppy.

"Huh, I don't know." Raion said, before the scenery began to change as it lit up with a white light.

~Waking World~

"Guess, what I really wanna be, is a hero like my mom!" Raion's fading voice said, as the man woke up form his dream, to the sound of his Scroll going off. "What was with that dream? A memory?"

Raion sat up from the makeshift bed he was sleeping in on the forest floor, while he recovered from completing the first of the S-Class quests he grabbed. Looking at his Scroll, he saw the call had ended, and shrugged his shoulders, before lying back down to keep on sleeping. As he closed his eyes, his Scroll began going off again, and he sat up checking it to see it was Mira calling him.

"Must be important if she's calling me twice in a row." Raion said, before noticing how many times she actually called. "Or five. Oops." He hissed in realization, before answering. "Mira, what's up?"

"We've got a Code Namekian." Mira said.

Raion's eyes widened when Mira said that, groaning as he jumped off his makeshift bed, Raion began packing all his stuff up.

"How many Quests were stolen from the second floor, and which ones?"

"Just one, and it was for lifting the curse on Galuna Island." Mira explained.

"Let me guess, it was Natsu who stole the Quest?" Raion inquired.

"Technically it was Happy, but it's safe to say he stole it for Natsu. An' Lucy's probably joined them on this quest, since the reward included a gold gate key." Mira stated.

"She's a newbie, but that doesn't mean Master's gonna go easy on her when she returns." Raion said. "Did gramps already send someone after them?"

"He sent Grey, but he's pretty sure that won't be enough to force them back here." Mira said.

"Alright, register the job as taken, and I'll get right on it. I'm pretty sure they're gonna be at the island's village, before I arrive, so might as well not get their hopes up." Raion said, throwing his bag over his shoulder.

"Another thing, there are a couple of girls here from Beacon Academy. They say they're friends of yours from when you were little. Do the names, Ruby and Yang ring a bell?" Mira asked.

Raion stopped, realizing he should have seen this coming before he sighed and answered her.

"Yeah, they're friends of mine. I knew them, from before the whole incident that resulted in me joining Fairy Tail in the end." Raion said. "Last time I saw them before that, we were playing Huntsman and Huntresses, and talking about what we'd want to be when we grew up."

"They're members of Fairy Tail now, and are part of the Huntress Team RWBY." Mira said. "Ruby's also the leader."

"Is she now?" Raion asked. "I'll have to give them a proper greeting after I complete the rest of my S-Class Quests. Take care Mirajane, and I'll see you when I return."

"Be safe." Mira said, before ending the call.

"Natsu, you've really screwed the pooch this time." Raion exclaimed, crouching down, before leaping into the air, taking off flying.

~Galuna Island~

"Well, we found the village. Now what?" Grey asked.

"Check out that gate. When they say keep out they mean it." Natsu stated.

"Anyone home?" A blonde young woman shouted. "We came here to help you."

After a moment of silence, there was no sign that anyone had heard her.

"I don't think anyone heard you Lucy." A talking blue cat said.

"Let's bust in." Natsu smiled raising a fist as he sparked a fire around it.

"We're trying to help these people, not destroy their lives!" Lucy exclaimed.

"Who goes there?"

The four Wizards looked up to see two men on the gate looking down at their group. It was clear to them, that these people weren't very trusting of outsiders, and that made sense to them, as they were the only inhabitants of the island, being approached by three strangers, and a talking flying cat, with blue fur and a green bag over his shoulders, claiming to be responding to their request for help.

"We're wizards from Fairy Tail, responding to your request." Lucy called to them.

"Why weren't we notified when you accepted the job?" One of the two guards asked.

"Sorry it was probably just a mix up with the paper work." Grey stated, coming up with a good excuse as to why they hadn't been notified.

"Then let us see your emblems right now."

Natsu showed the emblem on his shoulder, as Happy showed the one on his back. Grey showed the emblem on his chest, Lucy showed the emblem on her hand.

"They're here." The two guards said in unison. "They're really here."

After that, the gate was rising to allow the party of four, entry into the village, and the villagers were gathered around to greet them, dressed in cloaks.

"It's like we're walking into a giant monsters mouth." Happy chimed.

"Are you trying to freak me out? Because it's working." Lucy exclaimed, before they greeted the villagers.

"I'm Moka the village chief. On behalf of everyone here I welcome you." A short man holding a staff said as he stepped up to them. "Pleasantries aside, there's something you need to see."

Moka and the rest of the villagers behind him removed their cloaks, revealing that every one of them had at least one body part that was touched by the curse.

"It's just like what happened to the boat guy." Grey said.

"Yeah." Lucy softly said, feeling sorry for them all.

"Oh wow, your sideburns." Natsu said in shock.

"Not that, I was try to show you what's happened to my arm." Moka exclaimed. "Everyone on the island has suffered horrible disfigurement because of this curse. Not even the animals and Grimm have been spared."

"Please excuse me for asking, but what makes you think it's a curse sir? It could be some kind of infectious disease." Grey theorized.

"Are you trying to freak me out too?" Lucy questioned.

"We've consulted with dozens of doctor's young man." Moka said. "But they all agreed that no such disease exists. You see, our symptoms began around the same time the moon fell under an evil spell."

"What kind of spell?" Lucy asked.

"Since ancient times, this island has absorbed the light of the moon. Causing it to glow almost as beautifully as the moon itself. However, several years ago, the moons color began to change, and an eerie purple glow was cast upon the island." Moka explained.

"So the moon turned purple?" Natsu asked.

"Must be something connected to this island, because it isn't purple in Magnolia, or anywhere else in the Kingdom." Grey said.

"Ah, it's coming out from behind the clouds." Happy exclaimed looking up.

As Moka had said, the moon indeed was purple.

"Oh wow, it really is purple." Lucy gasped.

"Man that's creepy looking." Grey stated.

"It's the curse. Stand back, the change is about to begin." Moka exclaimed.

Natsu and his group looked at the villagers, their bodies wracked with pain as they screamed in agony, many of them trying to suppress it, but inevitably they let it out and cried in sorrow and discomfort, as their bodies began to change even further. Each villagers changes were unique, and it seemed as though they were in agony, as they became demons, before the sounds of their cries stopped once their transformations were complete, as the four of them, were all who remained who hadn't transformed. It was then Grey and Lucy knew, these people needed help, and he couldn't just standby and do nothing about it, not after seeing what they go through every night.

"Why is this happening to them?" Natsu questioned, a look of fear in his eyes.

"I'm sorry if our appearance frightens you." Moka said, sounding ashamed of himself.

"You poor people." Lucy stated.

"Oh man, you guys look so cool." Natsu stated.

"Natsu." Lucy scolded. "These people are suffering, be a little more sympathetic towards their plight."

"Really? My bad, I didn't mean any offense by it." Natsu said.

"As you've witnessed, whenever the purple moon shows its face in the sky, everyone in the village takes on a horrifying demonic form, if it isn't a curse, then what else could it possibly be?" Moka asked. "We'll return to normal once the morning comes and the sun has risen. However, there are some poor souls who can no longer switch back to their human forms for they have lost their minds."

"How sad." Lucy said.

"The fate for them, these unfortunate souls in the grip of madness, we've no choice but to put them to death." Moka explained.

"But they might change back to normal someday." Natsu stated.

"If we wait for that to happen, the monsters would surely kill us all. We've tried capturing them, but they've always broke free. It's no use." Moka explained as he started to cry, staring at a picture of a very familiar face to Natsu, Grey, Lucy, and Happy. "Once it takes hold, there's no way to save them. I should know, I was forced to kill my very own son."

The group all saw the picture and they were shocked at who they saw.

"That's the guy… from the boat…" Lucy stated. "But we just saw him yesterday he…"

"Shush…" Grey silenced Lucy. "Now I understand why he disappeared on us like that, he's dead, but his soul can't rest in peace."

'A ghost?' Lucy thought.

"Please lift the evil curse from our island." Moka pleaded bowing to them. "If this goes on much longer we may all fall victim to it. We'll die…"

"We're not gonna let that happen." Natsu stated interrupting Moka's plea. "We can fix this I promise you."

"There's only one way, this retched curse can be lifted." Moka exclaimed. "The moon, the moon must be wiped from the sky."

"Eh?" The group questioned, as if he'd just asked them to grow a second head.

~Later~

"I never knew the moon could be so creepy." Happy stated, looking out the window of the hut provided to them by the villagers.

"Hurry and close the window. You heard what the chief said, we gotta stay out of the moon light. You may not care but I don't wanna risk turning into some freaky looking monster." Lucy exclaimed.

"I'm not so sure about this job guys." Natsu said.

"Do these people really think we can destroy the moon?" Grey inquired.

"Wonder how many punches it'll take. You think I can handle it?" Natsu asked raising his fist with a smirk.

"Are you kidding me?" Grey asked. "Don't be stupid man. I doubt even Raion could destroy it."

"Of course not. There's not a wizard alive, who's strong enough to do that." Lucy sighed.

"But that's the job we were hired to do, isn't it?" Natsu asked. "We can't take a job and then back out, cause that would make Fairy Tail look bad."

"What they're asking can't be done. How do you think you're gonna get to the moon anyway?" Grey inquired.

"With Happy." Natsu stated pointing upwards.

"Uh, I don't think so." Happy stated.

"Alright, then I'll just learn Raion's flying technique and fly there myself." Natsu said.

"Raion's flying powers come from his cells absorbing Yellow Sunlight, remember?" Grey asked.

"Okay we can't destroy the moon, but if we do some investigating, we might be able to find a different way to lift the curse from the island." Lucy pondered before a shirt was thrown in her face.

"You kids can do what you want, but after the last couple days I've had, I need some shut eye." Grey yawned removing a sock.

"Please don't take off anymore." Lucy wined.

"Okay, our investigation starts tomorrow morning." Natsu smiled.

"Aye Sir." Happy cheered.

Knock! Knock! Knock!

"Who could that be at this hour?" Lucy asked.

"Probably just one of the villagers, wanting to make sure we're nice and comfy." Grey stated.

Natsu went to answer the door, but the moment he opened it, his eyes went wide with fear, before he slammed it shut.

"It's not one of the villagers." Natsu said, shaking in his boots.

"Don't tell me it's Erza." Grey said, his face going pale.

"Worse." Natsu said, his voice barely above a whisper, before the door was thrown open, and he was sent across the room, as Raion stepped through the entrance.

"Natsu, Happy, Lucy." Raion said.

"Oh crap, it's Raion. That is worse." Grey cried out.

"Hey there Grey." Raion said, a tick mark forming on his cheek. "Help me understand something. Why join Natsu and Lucy, when you were supposed to bring them back?"

"I'm sorry, but they knocked me out, and tied me up." Grey said. "Then our ship crashed, and we were stuck on the island."

"So you couldn't have made a bridge leading back to the mainland with your ice?" Raion questioned.

"I… didn't think to do that." Grey said.

"Well, lucky for you three, I officially accepted the request for this mission once Mira told me what you two did." Raion said, looking to Natsu and Happy, as well as Lucy.

"So we're gonna get part of the reward?" Lucy asked.

"Oh hell no." Raion exclaimed. "I'm keeping the entire reward for myself, while you three are gonna sit here patiently, and wait for me to complete this Quest, before I drag your asses back to Magnolia. Do I make myself clear?" He questioned, with his eyes glowing red.

"Crystal." Grey said with a salute, as he got to his feet.

"Good." Raion said.

"Wait, what about the Gate Key?" Lucy questioned.

"You can have the key, once you've earned it." Raion said. "Until then I'll be holding onto it once I get paid."

"Oh man." Lucy cried, comical tears rolling down her cheeks.

"I've already informed the village about what you did, and why I'm here. So there'll be guards posted outside this door, while I handle this job." Raion stated, before turning to leave, and slamming the door shut behind him.

"What was with his eyes?" Lucy asked.

"Heat Vision." Grey said. "One of his Kryptonian abilities, granted to him by the yellow sun radiation his body absorbs."

"It's so unfair, but cool at the same time." Natsu grumbled.

"In addition to his Kryptonian and Saiyan abilities, Raion also has Godslayer Magic, making him practically the strongest Mage in Fairy Tail, right under Gildarts and the Master." Grey sighed as he calmed down, while sitting next to Natsu. "Which is also why he's scarier to face, then Erza."

"What's Godslayer Magic?" Lucy asked. "I heard Weiss say she had it after Yang beat you in their trials the other day."

"Godslayer Magic, is basically the Ultimate Slayer Magic." Natsu said. "Though only one instance of this magic being used in its namesake has ever happened, this magic was developed for slaying deities, hence the name Godslayer."

"Wait, so that means Raion was trained by a God?" Lucy questioned, completely in shock.

"Who can say?" Grey shrugged. "Not even Raion knows how he became a Godslayer. All he knows is he developed this magic, the day Gildarts found him, and brought him to the Guild."

"Gildarts. You mentioned him before." Lucy said.

"He's the strongest S-Class mage we have in Fairy Tail." Natsu said. "An', he along with Gramps, are the only ones who truly know what happened to Raion before he joined Fairy Tail."

"Raion's kept quiet about the whole thing, and hasn't shared his past with anyone outside those two." Happy added. "He apparently joined around the same time Natsu did, before I was born."

"You've seen that belt buckle he has right?" Grey asked. "The 'S' in the diamond shield?"

"What about it?"

"That's his family crest." Natsu said. "In Kryptonian, it means Hope."

"All we really know about his past is he was born and raised on an Island called Patch just a couple miles off the coast from the Kingdom of Vale, and aspired to be a Huntsman like his old man." Grey said. "We don't really know what happened to his family, but given how he doesn't talk about them, it was something bad."

"But with the power he wields, we can't afford to risk disobeying him. When he says we stay put, he means it." Happy stated.

"I just hope he doesn't take too long in trying to find out what's going on with the island." Lucy sighed. "I'll go stir crazy if I have to be in here for a week without anything to do."

~Raion~

"I apologize once again for my comrades disrespect towards the situation." Raion said, bowing to Moka, as he stood in front of the hut he was staying in. "I hope you can forgive their transgressions."

"They came with good intentions, albeit somewhat selfish, but intended on helping us none the less." Moka said. "So you really think there's another way to remove the curse, other then destroying the moon?"

"I do, and once I do some investigating tomorrow morning, I'll be able to confirm my suspicions with any evidence I may find." Raion said.

"Very well. I wish you a good night." Moka said with a bow.

With Moka departing for the night, Raion entered his hut, and instantly rolled out his sleeping bag, and laid back on it.

"Destroy the moon? That's not an option." Raion sighed. "It's strange though; once I got to this island, it felt like something was being pulled from my soul, and has been wanting me to head for the temple at the top of the mountain. I get the feeling whatever's causing these people their misery, is up there, and whoever's behind it, won't be willing to hash things out rationally. Which means, I'm gonna need to bring my tools in case they're needed." He analyzed with a yawn, before closing his eyes. "However, that's future Raion's problem. The present me, is needing some sleep."

~Elsewhere~

Meanwhile, on a pirate ship with either a pumpkin or an orange for a skull and a fork and knife for crossbones, the sea fairing vessel was making its way through the waters, towards Galuna Island. Upon this ship, were the beaten-up crew and a red haired Erza, with four other girls accompanying the armor clad woman. Her expression, enough to make even the wildest of beasts go crying for their mommies in utter fear.

"Um… what are ye wanting to go to the cursed island for anyways Lassies? Arg, it be quite scary." The captain stated steering the helm.

"When rules are broken, then those who did it must face justice." Erza exclaimed, before looking over her shoulder. "You girls ready to see an S-Class Huntress in action?"

"After fighting these pirates, I feel we're prepared to do anything on this mission." Yang smiled.

"Remember Yang, we're only accompanying Erza to learn what it takes to be S-Class, at her request." Blake said. "We're only to take part, if it's required."

"I guess Fairy Tail isn't so bad if the Master allowed Academy Students to shadow their S-Class Huntsmen on jobs, even if it's a retrieval job." Weiss said.

"Team RWBY is ready to learn." Ruby smiled.

"Whoa, so cool." One of the recovered crewmates said.

"We'll follow you anywhere." Another added.

As the crew cheered them on, the captain joined in and fully agreed to take them.

"Set a course for the Cursed Island of Galuna…" The captain shouted.

"Aye-aye sir…"
