Chapter 12: Rebirth of The Origami Empress

In the center of the ceiling of the temple was a large sky light that showed the night sky. Underneath the moonlight shining in the temple, Vaati was drawing symbols around this pentagram with Adeleine's paintbrush, each symbol representing a form of origami. Placed inside the pentagram was Olly and Olivia, only they were tied up in several multicolored streamers. Similar to the ones Olly used in Paper Mario: Origami King. Olly and Olivia were tied back-to-back, but Olly was struggling to attempt to get free with all his might. Yet, it was to no avail.

Dimentio- No use resisting, Origami King. Those streamers have been enchanted with Tabuu's power, making them stronger than steel. Huh…what's up with Olivia's face?

Olivia- What about my face?

Dimentio- It looks all blurry, like someone rubbed it with an eraser.

Poke'mon Hunter J- Actually Dimentio, I think something's wrong with your eyesight. First, you got hit in the face with a tomato, then you got stung in the eye by that bee, and then you got a billiard ball wedged into you socket. I think all that damage done to your eye might have affected your vision. You might want to see Tabuu about fixing that later.

Then Dimentio covered one eye with his hand and realized J was current.

Dimentio- You're right. Your face is looking blurry too. And one of the last things I want is to wear glasses. But better than having a gouged eye like the author.

Vaati- There, finished! And thanks for the paintbrush, little girl.

Then Vaati turned his attention to a corner of the room where they had put the cage Adeleine, Ribbon, and Charmy were still locked in. Adeleine just glared at him from the edge of cage with her face up against the bars.

Adeleine (sarcastic tone)- Well, happy to help, but would you please give my brush back?!

Vaati- Hmm…alright…

Then Vaati flicked the paintbrush and it lightly hit Adeleine in the face before falling to the floor of the cage.

Vaati- Not like you can use it to bring your artwork to life without a canvas.

Suddenly, the light shining through the hole in the ceiling got brighter and shined down over Olly and Olivia.

Vaati- Look! The constellation is happening! The White Origami Lotas!

Dimentio- Really? Because…I can't see anything.

Poke'mon Hunter J- I swear…your damaged eyesight better not turn into an annoyance for me! Or I'll feed you to Salamence!

Then Dimentio pulled out six object and handed two of them to Poke'mon Hunter J and two to Vaati.

Dimentio- Now we just have to place these objects on the symbols that Vaati has drawn around the pentagram than Master Tabuu can take care of the rest.

On the red symbol, Dimentio place a red box of colored pencils and a rubber band ball on the blue symbol. Poke'mon Hunter J placed a yellow hole puncher on the yellow symbol and a tape dispenser on the purple symbol. And Vaati place pair of scissors on the green symbol and a stapler on the black symbol. Then a portal from Subspace opens up and appears above where Olly and Olivia were and we see Tabuu on the other side of that portal.

Tabuu- Well, you boobs finally did something right for once.

Vaati- Master Tabuu!

Dimentio- Where?!

Tabuu got an annoyed look on his face before snapping his fingers. Then a bright light shined over Dimentio's eye for a split second. Then Dimentio's vision was back to normal.

Dimentio- Hey! I can see well again!

Tabuu- I agree with you there, J. I don't want Dimentio's damaged eyesight to turn into an annoyance.

Then Tabuu turned his attention to Olly and Olivia.

Olly- You…

Tabuu- Thought you could get away from me? I'll admit, you made it very difficult, escaping from Subspace, involving the Mario Brothers, hiding Olivia in Smash City, and attempting to fight back. But as you can see, there is no escape from me.

Olly- **** you, Tabuu!

Tabuu- Really? Those are the last words you want your sister to hear? And here I thought you were more civilized than that, Origami King. But now, it's time for the Origami King to abdicate his throne…for the Origami Empress!

Suddenly, the pentagram and the symbols began to light up as Tabuu began chanting in what sounds like a different language as his eyes also began to glow bright red.

Olivia- Brother…I feel…I feel so…

Olivia passed out before she could finish.

Olly- Olivia?! Olivia, speak to…(moan)…

Ribbon- Olivia…Olly…

Vaati- Don't bother worrying about them. They're already dead now.

Suddenly, both Olivia and Olly completely unfolded into two black pieces of paper. Then the stature holding the Origami Empress' soul in a glass sphere shattered into pieces and the soul was now free. Then the soul of the Origami Empress took the two pieces of paper that were once Olly and Olivia and began folding them into her new body. And despite that Olly and Olivia's paper didn't look like how the Origami Empress look, she still managed to make a perfect replica of her original body out of their paper. Even still had the ink stain covering half of her face.

Origami Empress- What the…I'm…alive again?

Charmy- What in the…?

Ribbon- Olivia…Olly…what have you done to them?!

Vaati- Like I said before…they're died. And now their bodies have been refolded into the Origami Empress' new body.

Tabuu- Greeting, Origami Empress.

Origami Empress- Huh…who are you?

Tabuu- How rude of me. Allow me to introduce myself. I am Tabuu, an ancient and all-powerful god. And…I'm the one who brought you back to life. And I was hoping you wouldn't mind doing me a…service…

Origami Empress- And why should I do anything for you?! God or not, you unfolded swine are all the same! Dirty, selfish, and absolutely…

Then Tabuu snapped his fingers and the ink stain covering half of her face instantly vanished. Now, her entire face was visible and it was as if there never was an ink stain on her at all.

Origami Empress- What…

Then Tabuu made a mirror appear in front of her and the Origami Empress saw her face was back to normal.

Tabuu- What do you think? Looking better already?

Origami Empress- How did you…

Tabuu- Like I said before…I'm an all-powerful god. And I have the ability to make many things happen. Some of which you wouldn't even believe. But let's get to the point as to why I went through the trouble of bringing you back. Do you remember the knight, Marco Mario?

Origami Empress- Marco…Mario…

Then the Origami Empress had brief visions of her fight with Marco and his team 1,000 years ago. The memories filled her with rage as she tightened her grip.

Tabuu- I see you do. Well, I too am a victim of Marco Mario. They beat me up and locked me away in this alternate dimension called Subspace. And I've been left to rot away for over a 1,000 years.

Origami Empress- A 1,000 years?!

Tabuu- Yes, Marco's time was over a 1,000 years ago. Marco is no longer with us. However, his decedent is being just as mean to me as Marco was. And like Marco, he too has a group to that keeps ganging up and picking on me. In fact, they are responsible for this nasty wound on my hand.

Then Tabuu shows the Origami Empress his left palm all bandaged up.

Origami Empress- Oh my!

Tabuu- Yeah…that sword Marco once wielded is now wielded by his decedent, Mario Mario. And as you can see, it really did a number on me. But if I recall…that sword couldn't hurt you. So I was hoping you wouldn't mind helping me teach this new Super Mario Brothers' Team a lesson.

Origami Empress- Well…you did fix my face and I do have a score to settle. Sure, I would love to help my new friend.

Tabuu- Splendid! I'm glad to hear that!

Origami Empress- But if I recall, the fight against Marco and his friends was not easy. They were all very strong warriors and were capable of harming me, even if Marco's sword couldn't affect me.

Vaati- Not to worry. Because with Master Tabuu's help, defeating the Mario Brothers will be a snap.

Dimentio- He's right, because Master Tabuu can share his power with others.

Then Dimentio shows the Origami Empress Tabuu's mark on his left palm.

Dimentio- As you can see, he's shared his power with us.

Origami Empress- And you are?

Tabuu- More friends of mine. Like us, they were also…mishandled…by the current Super Mario Brothers' Team. And yes, I have given them access to my power which they can use to make themselves stronger. And I can do the same thing for you.

Charmy- DON'T DO IT!

Then the Origami Empress turned her attention to the cage in the corner of the room and saw Charmy, Ribbon, and Adeleine in the cage.

Charmy- Tabuu's a mad man! He has committed countless horrible things! The reason why he was physically locked away in Subspace is because he was trying to destroy our world! And Tabuu doesn't care about you! Tabuu only wants to use you like a disposable tool he can throw away when it's no longer of use!

Then Tabuu looked at Charmy.

Tabuu- For your information, Charmy…those so-called innocent people of that world…they killed my mother! So why should they take the one person I loved most and not get what they deserve?! GRRRRRRR!

Then Tabuu's eyes were glowing red and sparks of energy was leaking from the bandages around Tabuu's left hand. Then Fawful rushed over to Tabuu and handed him a squeezy stress toy.

Fawful- Here, Master Tabuu! This help calm down!

Then Tabuu grabbed the squeeze toy and squeezed until the eyes on the toy popped out.

Tabuu- Thank you, Fawful…(breathes)…

Then Tabuu moved the portal closer to the cage and looked directly at Charmy.

Tabuu- I'll admit…I've done a lot of things that are what most people would say are…cold…yes, I'm responsible for many unpleasant things that have happened. Yes, I tried to destroy your world several times. Yes, everyone sees me as a monster. But I assure you…it was all justified. Just like how the Origami Empress' actions were justified as well. The history books see her just as much of a monster as they see me. They tell how she tried to destroy the Mushroom Kingdom only to be destroyed by Marco and have her soul locked away in this temple so she could never be revived. But do they say anything about how that Origami Craftsman who folded her abused her both physically and sexually? Or how that Toad callously splashed ink all over her face? And since her body was paper instead of flesh and bone, the ink supposedly would never come off. No, I don't think they do mention any of that at all. In fact, I wonder how many people know that when King Olly was folded, the reason he did all those things during that Origami Festival three years ago was because the Toad that folded him wrote on the paper he was folded from? There are two sides to every story, Charmy. So maybe you should pay better attention before judging someone from one person's perspective.

Then Tabuu returned his attention to the Origami Empress.

Tabuu- But anyway, do we have a deal, Empress?

Then Tabuu extended his hand out to the Origami Empress and the Origami Empress shook Tabuu's hand. Of course, Tabuu branded his mark on the Origami Empress' left hand.

Tabuu- Don't worry about my mark. It doesn't become visible unless you're using my power. Otherwise, my mark becomes invisible to the naked eye.

Before Tabuu or anyone else could say anything more, the sound of several boobytraps being sprung could be heard coming from part of the temple.

Goh's voice- Oh come on! That Poke'mon that looked like Suicune was an awesome looking Poke'mon! I just had to try and catch it!

Ash's voice- Not in a temple filled with deadly traps!

Mario's voice- And besides, we're in a hurry!

Origami Empress- That voice sounded like…

Tabuu- Well…speak of the devil…

Shortly after, the Super Mario Brothers' Team and Bowser's Team entered the room through the same hallway Tabuu's followers entered through earlier. However, they weren't harmed by any of the boobytraps at all. Except for Meowth who had a beartrap biting his tail.

Meowth- OWCH! Get this thing off of me!

Then Link approached Meowth and sliced the beartrap in half with the Master Sword.

James- You know, I didn't think beartraps existed 1,000 years ago.

Mario- What is this place?

Then Mario noticed Tabuu and the Origami Empress in the middle of the room.

Tabuu- If it isn't Mario. Long time no see!
