Chapter One
("Royalty x completely oblivious" -the dynamic generator I used ONCE
Me: Mmm, Grapevine idea?
Basically, Green and the CG are royalty siblings, Purple is the royal gardener, Mango is their ((rich)) dad, Gold's the chaotic sibling that's always there to walk home with Purple from school, Green is just now realizing his crush is oblivious as shit, Dark and Chosen are the tired King and Ruler, Victim is the chaotic brother of Chosen and likes to try to push Green and Purple together along with the rest of the CG, Alan is a God that likes to make regular trips to the castle because yes, this whole AU is either slow-burn or quick-burn. Also, Purple's oblivious as shit.
Incorrect quote of the month ig:
Purple: I am not touch starved! I do not require any form of touch!
Green: hey wanna share a blanket?
Purple, literally sobbing: Yes…
Lol
Anyways, onward to the slow-burn and fluffy gay with a slight bit of angst!)
(Also, Purple's an (anxiety filled and anti-social) artist on the side of their work at the castle in this au.)
(Also also, Modern au as well.)
Purple loved working in the Royal Garden.
They loved being the only one there except a guard outside the gates. They loved being alone with the flowers and bees and butterflies. They loved watering the plants, pruning bushes, and taking care of the crops under Prince Blue's request. Occasionally they were stuck taking care of Prince Red's pets, but that was fine. They loved animals.
They had been given permission when they started, if they finished their work early, to stay there until they needed to leave, as long as they didn't wreck the place. They usually had a bag of their art supplies, commonly sitting beside the central fountain in the grass and sketching away in a sketchpad. Sometimes they ended up playing their flute, or violin if they felt like it. Sometimes they read, sometimes they wrote nonsense in a notebook Gold had gotten them as a birthday gift.
They usually spent hours there, sometimes playing songs for the animals, sometimes sketching the plants or bees or butterflies, they didn't mind staying there for hours after finishing.
Which is why this particular afternoon, they were shocked to find one of the Prince's when they rounded the corner with the pruner's after having to run and grab them.
The bandanna, the casual clothing and bandaged hands, the smile as he played with a pig Purple recalled as being named Reuben… this had to be Prince Red.
Silently walking over to the bush they needed to prune, they carefully reached under, posed awkwardly to reach a branch they hadn't noticed the day before.
"You must be the royal gardener!"
Accidentally snipping off a twig, Purple jumped severely, proceeding to get poked in the head by several branches, and pulled themself out from underneath, looking over at the source.
Prince Red was looking over, grinning, the pig in his lap looking at Purple almost… angrily, as if it was angry they were taking attention away from it.
"You know, I must thank you for giving the parrots a bath. They've needed one for a while." The Prince said, setting the pig on the grass and standing.
Purple felt themself grow nervous.
"No need! No need to thank me, your Highness." Purple said, bowing.
"Oh rise up, whatever. I hate formalities." The last part was mumbled. "Just call me Red, alright?"
"Yes, your Hi- Red." Purple said, standing up straight.
"Well, you probably have work to do, and Second's probably wondering where I am, so, I have to go. Enjoy your day…" The Prince trailed off, not knowing their name.
"It's Purple." They answered the unspoken question.
"Right, enjoy your day, Purple!" Red said, smiling and leaving through the gate, humming a distorted tune as he walked away.
Purple stood there for a second, holding the pruner's loosely in their hands. Deciding instead to just continue with their work, they knelt down again, finally clipping the branch they'd been going after.
Pulling themself back out, they looked over at the pig still glaring at them.
Purple stood, and slowly walked away, making direct eye-contact the whole time, and when they rounded the corner, flying down the path back to the roses.
(Listening to 'Woman' rn, it's pretty pog-)
Purple looked up from their current sketch, notified of Gold by the sound of them yelling "PURPLE!".
Smiling as their younger sibling ran up, they listened as Gold rambled, packing their sketch supplies into their messenger bag as they listened.
"Yeah, the actual King came in today!" Gold yelled excitedly. "He came in explaining he was there to talk to us about the history of the Kingdom, ya know? He was telling us some stuff that's not even in the history books!"
"You would know if it was." Purple remarked, standing and brushing off the knees of their overalls.
Gold grinned, absolutely beaming. The two began their walk home, Gold excitedly telling Purple about the rest of their day, and Purple listening with a smile on their face.
"You wanna know something?" Purple said as they approached the gates.
"What?" Gold asked.
"I actually met one of the Prince's today." Purple told them, lowering their voice to a whisper.
Gold's eyes shone, basically reflecting stars.
"Really!?" Gold nearly shouted as the gate opened and they crossed through, hearing the metal creak shut behind them and starting to walk up the gravel path.
"Yup. Prince Red, in fact." Purple told them.
"You'll have to tell me about it later!" Gold yelled, their smile somehow growing even wider.
They crossed the threshold, Purple slipping out of their work boots at the door and putting on their flats, and hanging their jacket on the hooks by the front hall.
"DAD!" Gold yelled, running down the hall the minute they had their stuff put away, nearly crashing into one of the butler's.
"Sorry! Sorry! DAD!" Gold apologized hurriedly and continued their run.
Purple chuckled and followed, planning to go change into something much comfier.
"Yes?" The man in question said, poking his head out of a door, raising a brow.
"Two things, why're you in the closet, and I have something to tell you!" Gold exclaimed.
"To answer that question, Sapphire needed my help reaching something-"
"Yeah, you're stupid tall." Purple mumbled, angry that they were only a few inches taller than Gold, and Gold was in 7th grade damnit.
"-and what is it?" Mango finished, handing an item to the maid beside him, who bowed quickly and hurried away.
"The King actually came to my classroom today!" Gold exclaimed.
Purple watched the two walk down the hall, smiling softly at it, before moving up one of the staircases in the front entrance to the second floor, and then moving up another set of stairs, opening one of the doors on the right.
The other side of the door was neatly decorated. A four poster bed with their signature color for the main theme, along with fluffy blankets and a weighted blanket to calm them down at night, along with pillows they could sink into. Curtains drawn open and windows wide open, a walk-in closet, carpeted flooring, such and such. A mahogany desk was pressed against the wall, facing the rest of the room. A large monitor sat atop it, along a PC, and a spinny chair pushed in.
Bookshelves lined on the wall, several shelves dedicated to filled sketchbooks. A drawing tablet was pushed to the side on the desk, the stylist stuck to it. Another wall had paintings decorating it. Portraits of people, landscapes, abstract, and more.
Purple opened the walk-in closet and ducked in, fishing out a hoodie and simple jeans, and going from their slides to a pair of fuzzy socks.
Pulling out the spinny chair and sitting down, they pulled their sketchbook out of their bag they had placed by the desk. Fishing out their pencil and eraser, they opened it to their previous page.
They'd found themself drawing animals, namely birds, since they'd finished work, ever since they'd talked to the Prince. Finishing some of the last details, and finishing one bird they couldn't remember the name of, they pulled their legs up to cross them, pushing their sketchbook to the side, and pulled the drawing tablet close to them. Smacking their keyboard as they fished their glove out of a drawer, shaking loose the dust that collected over the last week.
Speed typing in their password, they powered their tablet on, clicking their stylist aggressively in order to get it working. Sliding their keyboard out of the way, Purple proceeded to realize their mouse wasn't working.
Shaking it aggressively, they grumbled. Checking the battery, they sighed. Standing up again, they proceeded to rummage in several drawer's for fifteen minutes trying to find a battery replacement.
"Purple! Dinner's ready!"
"Coming!" They yelled back. They heard Gold's footsteps thump down the hallway.
Setting their mouse on the desktop, they told themselves to grab some from the closet or something on their way back up. Not bothering to put their slides back on, they exited their room and made their way to the dining hall.
Sliding into their normal chair, they looked over at Mango, and then at Gold, who was utterly bouncing in their seat.
Dinner that night was quite nice. Sapphire's mac 'n' cheese, which Purple was a sucker for, steak cooked at just the right temperature, which Gold memed about across the table, and cooked corn, which Mango nearly choked on, while Gold wheezed and Purple helped him.
"So anyways, as I was saying, I do have a theory that Purple has a crush on at least one of the Prince's-"
"I do not!" Purple yelled defensively, face red.
"It's obvious! You think I haven't seen you whenever they tour around the Kingdom?!" Gold yelled back in common sibling banter fashion.
"You two, quit it." Mango grumbled from the other end of the couch.
Purple sunk into their hoodie, grumbling. Turning back to their sketchpad, they continued on the butterfly on the page.
(Yeehee)
(Quick slice of life, and then a sprinkle of foreshadowing, Red introduction, and a sprinkle of sibling banter. Perfect.
