I

Do you know where you're going to?
Do you like the things that life is showing you?
Where are you going to?
Do you know?

Do you get what you're lookin' for?
When you look behind you there's no open door
What are you hoping for,
Do you know?

Junior Year At Langley College

"Blair, why does it always take you forever to get ready? We're gonna be late for the shindig."

Jo Polniaczek had always been amazed at how long it took her girlfriend Blair Warner to get ready for anything. As much as she loved the blonde debutante, she had never gotten used to all the primping and preening.

"Joey", Blair said from the other side of the bathroom door, "this is a Formal Dinner, put on by the College. I mean, I can't just look like my normally brilliant self", Blair said, Jo able to hear the mirth in her lover's voice, a grin and an eye roll starting on Jo's face. "I have to look absolutely lights-out breathtaking."

"Yeah, yeah, blondie, I've heard all that before", Jo stated, but adding a laugh with it. Looking down at her own dress, she wondered if she looked "formal" enough. She was wearing a full length chiffon turquoise top with a plunging neckline, and matching chiffon pants , a beautiful turquoise necklace that Blair had bought her just for this occasion around her neck. Ever the tomboy, she felt uncomfortable in such a get-up. Although you gotta admit, Polniaczek, she said to herself, Princess is going to have her jaw hit the floor when she sees me.A few minutes later, Jo heard the doorknob turn, the brunette turning toward the door.

Blair came out, Jo's jaw almost hitting the floor.

Blair had on a black soft net evening gown featuring crystal beaded, metallic lace appliques on an a-line silhouette with long sleeves and a wide v-neckline. She topped it off with a diamond necklace that had been given to Blair by her grandmother years earlier. Jo had always felt Blair was the most beautiful and sexiest woman she had ever seen, with curves that didn't quit. But this...she was floored at how incredibly elegant Blair look.

"My God, Princess", Jo said in a whisper, moving toward the blonde, "you look...I've never seen you look more gorgeous. Takes my breath away."

Despite her "snobbo" vernacular, as Jo had always called it, that she had used while in the bathroom, Blair blushed as Jo moved into her personal space, her green eyes shining brightly. "I do all this not for those that will be there tonight, Joey, but for you. I'm gonna be with the most beautiful woman at the Formal, and I want to be worthy of her tonight."

Jo couldn't speak for a moment, instead moving in and giving Blair a soft, deep kiss on the lips, the couple holding it for a long moment. "Well, you're more than worthy of me, babe. I'm the one who worries about not being worthy."

Blair shushed Jo with two fingers to her lips. "You look enthralling, Joanna Marie", Blair said, her chest heaving with emotion as she took in the sight of her lady. "I'm the luckiest girl on the planet, and tonight-finally-the whole world will know it."

"You're not nervous about us coming out tonight?" Jo was a little surprised at Blair's response. Coming from a family that was one of the wealthiest and most powerful business families in New York, image was everything, and for Blair to let the world know, this very night, that she was in a lesbian relationship, was a big deal.

"No, not nervous at all, love", Blair assured her. "You are my life. You will always be my life, and to hell what the world thinks."

Jo actually laughed, Blair looking at her questioningly. "I was just thinkin' how much I've rubbed off on ya since we met, Princess."

"Well", Blair said, with another blush, "we dopartake in quite a bit of rubbing...don't we?"

Now Jo blushed. "Oh, don't go there, blondie, or neither one of us will leave this room with our outfits on. Save that for after the dinner and dancing, okay?"

Blair laughed, kissing Jo again sweetly. "Looking at you in that dress all night is gonna have me so hot and horny by the time we get home..."

"Yeah", Jo smirked, "and then we have all night to be naked. I can't wait."

Blair playfully smacked Jo on her butt. "Always the barbarian, aren't you. Shall we go?"

"Yes we shall." Jo began to move ahead of Blair to get the door, then stopped and turned toward Blair, her face looking tenderly at Blair. She put her arms around Blair's waist. "When's the last time I told you I love you, Warner?"

"Oh, about an hour ago, Polniaczek", Blair said sweetly. "I love you too, Joey. We're gonna knock their socks off tonight, aren't we?"

"We may knock more than their socks off, baby. Langley won't be the same after tonight."

Blair laughed loudly at the remark, as Jo held the door open for her, the two making their way to the Formal event, and announcing to the world that they were in love.
