Chapter 4: Testing the Powers
Harry woke up feeling refreshed, but also a bit nervous. He had a big day ahead of him, and he wasn't sure what to expect. He got dressed quickly and headed to the common area where he was greeted by Cal, Merrin, Kata, Greez, and BD-1. They all sat down for breakfast and discussed the tests that Harry would be going through to assess his force abilities.
"First, we'll start with the basics," Cal said. "We'll test your ability to use the Force push, pull, jump, and sense. Then we'll move on to more advanced tests, such as telekinesis, mind tricks, and lightsaber training."
Merrin added, "We'll also test your ability to use the Night Sister Magic, which is unique to Dathomir. It's different from the Force, but it's still a powerful form of magic that can be useful in certain situations."
Harry nodded, feeling a bit overwhelmed but also excited to see what he was capable of.
After breakfast, they headed to the Jedi Temple Training Arena. It was a large open space with various obstacles and targets set up for training purposes. Cal and Merrin took turns explaining the different Jedi powers that Harry would be learning.
"We'll start with Force push," Cal said. "It's a basic power, but it can be incredibly useful in combat situations. Try to push that target over there."
Harry focused on the target and tried to push it with the Force, but nothing happened. He frowned, feeling frustrated.
Merrin noticed his expression and said, "It's okay, Harry. Your magic is still adapting to the Force. It might take a bit longer for you to get the hang of it."
They moved on to Force pull, jump, and sense, and Harry had varying levels of success with each one. He could feel his magic responding to the Force, but it was still a bit of a struggle.
Cal and Merrin were patient and encouraging, offering tips and advice on how to improve. Finally, they moved on to more advanced tests.
"Let's see how you do with telekinesis," Merrin said. "Try to lift that rock over there."
Harry focused on the rock and concentrated. Suddenly, it lifted into the air, hovering for a moment before gently floating back down to the ground. Harry grinned, feeling a sense of accomplishment.
"Great job, Harry!" Cal said. "Now, let's move on to lightsaber training."
They brought out a training lightsaber and handed it to Harry. He held it gingerly, feeling its weight and balance.
"Remember, Harry," Kata called out from the sidelines. "Use the Force to guide you. Let it flow through you and connect with the lightsaber."
Harry nodded and activated the lightsaber. He could feel the hum of the blade and the weight of it in his hand. He started with some basic moves, trying to get a feel for the weapon.
Cal and Merrin watched closely, offering feedback and advice. Harry could feel himself getting better with each passing moment. His magic was finally adapting to the Force, and it was boosting his abilities and powers.
After a few hours of training, they took a break to rest and discuss Harry's progress. Merrin offered him some water, and Cal patted him on the back.
"You're doing great, Harry," Cal said. "I'm impressed with your progress."
Harry smiled, feeling a sense of pride. He was excited to see what else he was capable of.
They resumed training, and Merrin decided to test Harry's ability to use Night Sister Magic. She explained how it worked and demonstrated a few moves. Harry tried to mimic her, but he couldn't seem to get the hang of it.
As they were discussing, Cal noticed Harry's curiosity towards BD-1. "Hey, Harry, why don't you take BD-1 for a walk and get to know him better? He's been itching to explore the planet and maybe you could show him around."
Harry looked at BD-1 and smiled. "Sure, that sounds great."
As Harry and BD-1 walked out of the room, the others continued discussing their plans for Harry's training. Merrin suggested, "Perhaps we could start with basic lightsaber training, as it would be useful for Harry to defend himself against the dark side."
Call nodded in agreement, "Yes, and we can also introduce him to Force push and pull. I have a feeling Harry will adapt to these powers quite easily."
Kata chimed in, "Maybe we can also test Harry's abilities to sense the Force, like how we can feel the presence of other beings."
Greez added, "And what about his accuracy with a blaster? It could come in handy in certain situations."
After finishing breakfast and their discussion, they headed towards the Temple Training Arena. The Arena was a large open space with a variety of obstacles and droids programmed to mimic combat scenarios. Cal led Harry to the center of the arena and started with the basics of lightsaber combat.
Harry was a quick learner and surprised everyone with his natural talent for swordplay. However, when they moved on to Force push and pull, Harry struggled at first. His magic was adapting to the Force in a unique way, causing a slight delay in his response time.
But as Harry continued to practice, his magic finally adapted to the Force and amplified his abilities. His Force push became stronger, and his Force pull more precise. Cal was impressed and said, "Harry, you're a natural. Your magic is boosting your Force abilities."
Merrin decided to test Harry's abilities with Night Sister magic. She demonstrated the use of the magic to Harry and asked him to try. Harry tried to mimic her movements, but nothing happened.
Merrin explained, "It's okay, Harry. Night Sister magic is different from the Force. However, there is one spell that is quite similar to a magic spell you might know."
She demonstrated the spell for Harry, and he recognized it immediately. "That's just like Apparition! I can do that," Harry exclaimed.
Merrin smiled and said, "Yes, it's very similar. Try it now."
Harry closed his eyes and focused. He pictured where he wanted to go and the next moment he vanished, only to reappear a few meters away.
Kata watched from the sidelines, amazed at Harry's abilities. She had never seen anything like it before. As the training session ended, Cal looked at Harry and said, "You've made great progress, Harry. I have a feeling you're going to be a valuable member of our team."
Harry smiled, feeling grateful for the chance to learn from these experienced Jedi and former Jedi.
As Harry started to concentrate, he noticed that the objects around him began to move slightly. He focused harder, and the objects started to levitate a few inches off the ground. Cal and Merrin were impressed with Harry's natural aptitude for telekinesis. Harry was thrilled that he could use the Force and that his magic was amplifying it.
Next, Cal showed Harry how to use Force push and pull. Harry struggled with these powers at first, but he eventually got the hang of it. As he did, he realized that the Force was different from magic in that it was more about focusing and manipulating energy, rather than directly controlling it. He found it fascinating and exhilarating.
Merrin tested Harry's ability to use the Night Sister Magic, but Harry was unable to perform any of the spells, except for teleportation. Merrin explained that it was because Night Sister Magic was unique to her culture, and it was not something that could be taught easily. However, Harry was able to teleport quickly, as it worked similarly to apparition from the wizarding world.
Kata was impressed with Harry's abilities and excited that he would be joining them in their efforts to protect the force-sensitive individuals and former Jedi from the Empire. They all walked back to the temple, discussing their plans for the future.
As they walked, Harry noticed that he still had the Deathly Hallows in his robes. He took them out to show Cal and Merrin, who were intrigued by their power. Harry explained that they were a powerful magical artifact in his world, and he was surprised to find them in his robes when he arrived on Tanalor.
After lunch, they continued with Harry's training. Cal taught him some basic lightsaber techniques and forms, but Harry struggled with the weapon. He was used to using a wand, and the lightsaber felt heavy and unwieldy in his hands. However, he was determined to learn, and he practiced diligently.
As the sun began to set, they returned to the temple. Harry was exhausted but exhilarated from the day's training. He was excited to continue his training and to learn more about the Force and how he could use it.
After a few hours of intense training, Harry was exhausted but exhilarated. He had never felt such a rush of power before. As he walked back to his room, he couldn't help but think about how his magic had adapted to the Force. He knew that he still had a lot to learn, but he was excited about the journey ahead.
As he walked into his room, he found Kata waiting for him. "Hey, Harry," she said, smiling at him. "How was training?"
"It was intense," Harry replied, collapsing onto his bed. "I'm exhausted."
"I can imagine," Kata said sympathetically. "But I'm sure you'll get used to it. You're a quick learner, after all."
Harry smiled at her compliment. He was glad to have made a friend in Kata. "So, what do you usually do around here?" he asked, curious.
"Well, there's always something to do," Kata replied. "We help maintain the temple, run errands, and of course, train. And sometimes, we just hang out and talk. It's like a big family here."
"I can see that," Harry said, looking around the room. "It's nice to have a place where you feel like you belong."
Kata nodded in agreement. "Yeah, it is. And we're all here for each other. No one gets left behind."
As they talked, Harry felt a sense of comfort and belonging wash over him. He knew that he had found a new home on Tanalorr, and he was excited to see where this journey would take him.
The rest of the day passed by in a blur of training and exploration. Harry was introduced to some of the other members of the Hidden Path, including Greez, who showed him some of his engineering projects, and BD-1, Cal's trusty droid, who followed them around everywhere.
As the sun began to set, they all gathered in the temple's main hall for dinner. Harry was surprised to see how many people were there. There were former Jedi, refugees, and even some non-Force users who had found a home with the Hidden Path.
As they ate, Cal and Merrin talked about the plan to take down the Sith Empire and liberate the galaxy from its tyranny. Harry listened intently, feeling a sense of duty and purpose welling up inside of him.
"We can't do this alone," Cal said, looking around the room. "We need all the help we can get. And with Harry on our side, I believe we have a fighting chance."
The room erupted into cheers and applause, and Harry felt a sense of pride and determination surge through him. He knew that he had found a new family on Tanalorr, and he was ready to do whatever it took to protect them and bring freedom to the galaxy once again.
