I would like to thank my reviewers since on fanfiction I cannot address their comment directly, as far as I know: Thank you Baratta jennifer and Bellxs! I really appreciate your comments. Also I decided to change publishing to both Saturday and Sunday. I'm already on the last two chapters so I don't need that much buffer time.
Part One - Empathy - Chapter 2
Alex saw three figures emerging from the spacecraft. Her heart skipped a beat as she realized who they were. "Wait!" Alex held her hand up, and took a step forward.
"Mon-El?"
Alex lowered her gun, relief flooding through her. "What the hell are you guys doing here?" she asked, shaking her head in disbelief.
"Stand down, everyone." J'onn yelled, turning around and gesturing for them to lower their weapons.
Winn stepped forward, looking sheepish. "Sorry about that, Alex. We were in a hurry."
Alex sighed, her eyes narrowing. "Okay, fine. But you better have a damn good reason for being here."
"We do." Mon-El stepped forward, a serious look on his face.
"While on a mission, we witness a strange time anomaly as we dealt with a 4th dimensional being. However, it wasn't that on account of her. So we ran some tests and found out something or someone has altered Kara's timeline," he said. "We came to help."
Alex felt a lump form in her throat at the sight of Mon-El. She had never thought she would see him again after he left to return to his own time, as Kara described, forever. And now, here he was, standing in front of her. "And James?" Her eyes moved to the side, landing on the taller man.
Winn smiled and high fived James, "Him? We picked him up on the way."
"She's crashing again!" One of the medic yelled.
Mon-El and Winn hurriedly ran after Alex to the DEO medbay, carrying a cylindrical object between them. They had been running the numbers on the ship's computers and had come to the horrifying realization that Kara's condition was far worse than they had initially thought. The damage to her body was severe, and if they didn't act quickly, she would die.
As they burst into the medbay, they were met with a flurry of activity. DEO agents rushed around them, trying to stabilize Kara's rapidly deteriorating condition. But Mon-El and Winn knew that there was only one thing that could save her now: a cryo-chamber.
"Move, move!" Mon-El shouted, pushing past the agents and placing the cylindrical object on the ground. "We need to get her in here now!"
Winn opened the lid of the machine, revealing the icy mist inside. Together, they carefully lifted Kara's limp body and placed her inside. The mist immediately enveloped her, slowing down the processes that were tearing her body apart.
As they stepped back, Mon-El turned to Alex and J'onn. "We need to talk," he said, his voice urgent. "Privately."
J'onn nodded and led Mon-El, Brainy, Alex and Winn to Tower.
"We need to find out what happened, fix it, and then reset time." Mon-El sighed. "We have to go back and undo all of this. We have to make sure Kara never gets hurt in the first place."
Alex took a deep breath, her mind racing. "But how? We can't just go back in time and change things! It doesn't work like that. What if whatever happened to her happens again? How will this solve it?"
"Then we must find a clue and figure out exactly what happened." Mon-El stated grimly.
"Nia has informed us that she does not recall the events leading up to the incident, save for the fact that it took place within Kara's apartment," Brainy explained. "Nevertheless, I am confident in my ability to delve into her subconscious and assist in reconstructing the missing fragments of her memory."
"Try to see if you can get through Kara's as well." Mon-El ordered then looked at Alex, "Winn and I will check Kara's apartment?" He said, asking Alex for permission.
Although Mon-El had been noting but stoic so far, Alex could see the sadness present in his gray eyes.
Alex nodded, "I'm-I'm not sure of the state of it but here, just in case." She gave him her copy of the keys.
Winn and Mon-El arrived at Kara's apartment, determined to find any clues that might lead them to whatever had done this to her.
Their eyes scanned the room for any clues. The place was eerily quiet, and they could feel a sense of foreboding in the air.
As they made their way over to Kara's desk, Mon-El spotted something on the ground. It was a small piece of shrapnel swirled with a mixture of silver and green. He immediately recognized it as Kryptonite.
Winn took the shrapnel from Mon-El's hands and passed some sort of chemical sensor over it, analyzing the strange combination of green and silver. "This is weird," he muttered, his brow furrowed in confusion. "This isn't like any Kryptonite I've ever seen before."
"Someone must be behind this." Winn looked at Mon-El worriedly.
Mon-El's jaw clenched in anger. "Whoever did this is going to pay," he growled.
When Mon-El and Winn returned to Tower, they found all of the Superfriends gathered together, anxiously waiting for news. Nia was sitting beside Kara's cryo-chamber, her hand resting on top of the glass.
"We found something at Kara's apartment," Winn said, holding up the small pile of the bomb fragments. "It's a combination of green and silver Kryptonite. Someone did this on purpose."
Everyone's faces darkened at the news. Lena stepped forward, her expression troubled. "This is bad," she said. "Green Kryptonite weakens Kara, but silver Kryptonite affects her mentally. Whoever did this wanted to hurt her in every way possible."
"Brainy, were you able to figure out more?" Mon-El asked, his rough shield back in place.
"Negative." Brainy explained that when he attempted to jump into Kara's brain after Nia's, he was unable to do so. He tried several times again, but every attempt was met with a block that he couldn't penetrate.
"Grife!" Mon-El muttered.
"We need to figure out who did this," Alex said, her voice firm. "And we need to find a way to get into Kara's mind and wake her up."
Winn turned to Nia, a thought occurred to him. "Nia, have you ever tried dream-walking? Given the silver K, Kara is most likely in a state of dreaming."
Nia nodded, her eyes determined. "I'll try," she said, taking a deep breath.
With the Superfriends gathered around her, Nia closed her eyes and focused all of her energy into reaching Kara's mind. After a few moments, she opened her eyes and looked around at the group.
"I was able to get in," she said, her voice weak. "But it was brief... I-I'm still too weak to sustain it for long."
The team is gathered in the DEO command center, discussing their options for saving Supergirl. Alex suggested altering the Obsidian VR, but Kelly objected, stating they didn't have enough time to address the potential side effects.
Winn then remembers Maxwell Lord's VR headset from when they fought the Black Mercy, but J'onn turned that idea down, stating that the headset had been lost even before the recent destruction of the DEO.
Mon-El then suggested using Vibe's powers, as he had helped Iris and him wake up Barry and Kara before, but this time Alex rejected the idea, reminding him that Vibe no longer has those powers.
J'onn then mentioned Mxy and how helpful he had been with Lena and Nyxly. Mon-El scoffed at the word "helpful," and Alex rolled her eyes at his ability to hold a long-term grudge, just like Kara.
Brainy made a move to agree with J'onn's suggestion of Mxy, when they suddenly heard a powerful voice echoing throughout the room.
"Did someone say my name?"
Everyone turned around, startled, to see a figure materializing out of thin air. It's Music Meister, standing there with a mischievous grin on his face.
The air around him crackled with energy, and the room suddenly felt charged with a strange power. The lights flickered and the temperature dropped, sending shivers down everyone's spines.
Music Meister raised his arms, and the air around him began to pulse with an otherworldly energy. The sound of music filled the room, swelling into a beautiful symphony that seemed to come from nowhere and everywhere all at once.
As the music reached its crescendo, Music Meister's form blurred and distorted, as if he's warping reality itself. The room shook and the team was thrown off balance, struggling to stay on their feet.
When the music finally faded, Music Meister stood there, smiling triumphantly. "I will help, but only one condition." He paused dramatically, "That Mon-El and Kara stop ignoring all of hints that they should be together and just do it."
Alex and Winn tried to stifle their laughter while Mon-El felt uncomfortable. Mon-El cleared his throat, "J'onn yo-you said Mxy was helpful?"
"Oh pshaw my dear Valor," Music Meister said, testing out a new nickname. "Now, let's talk about saving Supergirl, shall we?" he said, his eyes twinkling with a strange light.
