CHAPTER 3:
At around 11 a.m. that same day, Jessica, Ashley, and Danny arrived at Metropolitan Farm in Closter, New Jersey.
"Okay, we're here," Jessica announced, parking the car.
Ashley got out of the car and unhooked Danny from his car seat before helping him out of the car. Once he was out of the car, Ashley held his hand, and Jessica came around to the passenger side of the car to join the two.
"Isn't this fun, sweetie?" Ashley asked.
"Yeah! I love it here," Danny said, excited.
"Well, is there anything you want to do first before we pick out our pumpkins?" Jessica asked.
"Yeah. Can we go in that house over there first?" Danny asked, pointing at the farm's greenhouse.
"Of course we can," Ashley said, smiling.
"Yay!" Danny said, excited.
The family headed into the greenhouse to look for fall decorations to use at their apartment.
"Okay, Danny. Which one do you think is the best?" Jessica asked, showing him two different possible decorations.
"I like that corn for the door, Mommy." That'd be cool," Danny said, smiling.
"I agree. This will look great at our apartment," Jessica said, nodding.
After Jessica and Ashley picked out some decorations to use, they exited the greenhouse. Danny immediately noticed the many different pumpkins and attempted to get a closer look when Ashley stopped him.
"Whoa, whoa, where do you think you're going, little guy?" Ashley asked, grabbing hold of him.
"I want to pick out a pumpkin," Danny whined.
"You'll get to pick one out, but you've got to stay with us," Ashley told him.
"Yeah, buddy; we don't want you getting lost out here," Jessica added.
"Okay," Danny said.
The family headed towards the many different pumpkins while Ashley held Danny's hand.
Jessica and Ashley each picked two big pumpkins they liked. Danny saw one he liked, but he had trouble lifting it.
"Something wrong, buddy?" Jessica asked.
"It's too heavy," Danny said.
"Is that the one you want?" Jessica asked.
"Yeah," Danny said.
"Well, here; let me give you a hand with that," Jessica said.
She picked up the pumpkin and placed it in the car with the other four pumpkins she and Ashley had picked out.
"Well, there's definitely some great pumpkins we've got here," Jessica said.
"Are you excited about Halloween coming up?" Ashley asked.
"Yeah! I can't wait to wear my bear costume." Danny exclaimed as he and Ashley made their way back to the car while Jessica paid for all the pumpkins and decorations. Once everything was all paid for, Jessica got into the driver's seat of the car, and the family headed back home.
Meanwhile, back at Chloe's apartment, she dialed her cousin's number.
"Hey, Chloe. I was just on my way over to Starbucks to meet you and Aubrey," Kelly said, answering.
"Yeah, about that, Aubrey won't be joining us," Chloe told her.
"Why not?" Kelly asked.
"Her son has chickenpox," Chloe recapped.
"Oh, no. Listen, tell Aubrey I hope her son feels better," Kelly said.
"Will do. I'll see you over at Starbucks in a bit. Later," Chloe said, hanging up.
