bopdog111: Alright Mir got here.
Ulrich362: True, she's fled Duel Academy and is trying to ally with Declan Akaba but she still needs to work to earn his trust.
bopdog111: How can she earn it?
Ulrich362: Well there's teaching a class so Declan can keep an eye on her… and to let someone else do the same thing.
bopdog111: There's also Julia.
Ulrich362: True, but not quite who I had in mind. Let's see how things go, enjoy the chapter.
Disclaimer: We don't own Yu-Gi-Oh! Arc-V, all we own are the OCs.
It had been a day ever since Mir talked with Declan about her employment in exchange for his trust, and now she is getting ready for her first day at work as Professor Marco's assistant teacher. She is nervous about how this would go while also making sure her Deck is ready for any dueling examples. Marco assured her the students are on there best behavior but she dreads the student that pinched her butt yesterday who is suppose to be a student.
Pausing as she looked through her cards she noticed a small note as she teared up seeing it before gently wiping her eyes as she put her hair up in a ponytail and grabbed her Duel Disk to head down to the class.
Professor Marco who was walking to class notices her tearing up, and walked up out of concern. "What's wrong?"
"A note from my mother, wishing me luck on my first day of school." Mir answered wiping her eyes. "It was... the last note she got to write me."
Professor Marco's look softened before nodding patting her shoulder. "I'm sure she's proud of you as a teacher now."
"I hope she is." Mir nodded in agreement before turning to him. "So, I guess it's time to introduce myself to the class?"
Professor Marco smiled over. "Let me inform them of a new teacher then I'll let you in."
Mir nodded at that. "Alright Marco."
After he entered the room she waited outside for her chance to enter the room wondering what to say. Soon she heard Marco calling for her. Taking a slow deep breath she walked in and before saying anything she looked at the gathered students. "It's nice to meet you all, my name's Mir and I hope I can teach you a few things this year related to Fusion Summoning."
"Oh hey it's that broad from earlier." said the voice of the same student that grabbed her yesterday. "What she doing as a teacher?"
Mir frowned at that only to take a slow breath. "As Marco informed you I'm a new assistant teacher for this course and my name is Mir. If you'd like to ask me something I would appreciate you using it."
"Maybe rechecking your age cause your the same age as us." Jinbei made it clear he doesn't respect her over. "You should leave the teaching for the REAL teachers, broad."
"Tell me, how does age have anything to do my qualifications as a teacher?" Mir inquired calmly as she met his eyes.
"Cause as your younger, your dumb, and as Marco's older, he's right, and also woman should just stick by, and do what people expect from them they have no place in teaching." Jinpei spoke over.
"Excuse me?" Julia questioned glaring at him. "Remind us who failed and had to repeat this course."
"You." Jinbei stated over like it's obvious with a bored look directed towards her despite it being the opposite. "It's simply because people couldn't understand the truth, and punish the right people instead of going after the guilty."
"Jinbei stop this."
"Teach, you should know by now, I don't care about your threats." Jinbei stared bored towards Marco who looked stern. "If your gonna give me detention then spare us the trouble, and just do it, I don't really care you just don't want to admit I'm right."
"Your attitude is gonna get you in trouble one day." a female classmate glared over.
"Then why haven't I?" Jinbei raised an eyebrow before then stating. "Oh I know, it's because people know I'm right, and won't punish me for telling the truth. Just as you are gonna be punished for annoying me. Woman should just stay down at the bottom their frail, and pathetic as they should be."
That ignited a hidden side of Mir that is barely used whenever she's angry. She maybe sweet, and shy however when her buttons are pushed a warrior within her awakens.
"Then why don't you prove that?" Mir questioned glaring at Jinbei before pausing. "Women are weak and inferior are they then it should be easy for you to defeat me in a duel."
"Oh your challenging me?" Jinbei gave a confident smirk over standing up. "Alright, I thought this was gonna get boring with you teaching so please try, and amuse me." He walked down to do the match over while Marco stares figuring this could be a good lesson to show the class Mir's skills.
Mir only took a slow breath before turning to Professor Marco. "Marco, was miss Krystal correct about Jinbei failing and repeating this class?"
"Yes indeed." Marco nodded over.
"In that case I'll be nice and I won't use any Fusion Monsters to defeat you Jinbei." Mir told him calmly. "That should be fair right?"
"Eh? You insult me." Jinbei glared before relaxing shrugging. "Not that it would help you eitherway."
Mir only took a slow breath as the two of them took their positions and activated their Duel Disks.
A few minutes later...
"Now, Witchcrafter Madame Verre's ability is negating the effects of your monsters I can attack Dual Avatar - Empowered Kon-Gyo with Witchcrafter Golem Aruru and that allows me to use the other effect of Madame Verre to reveal three Witchcrafter spell cards in my hand and increase the attack and defense points of my Gollme Aruru by 3000 for a total of 5800 attack points." Mir explained to Jinbei. "Which means you lose."
A spellcaster charged in tackling a large golden armored monster while a shocked Jinbei was watching.
Deciding to take advantage of his shock Mir calmly turned to the class. "Does anyone have any questions about what you just saw? I know I'm a woman and thus 'Weak and inferior' as Jinbei told you all but I can at least try to help Marco's students."
Julia softly raised her hand.
"Yes miss Krystal?" Mir inquired calmly.
"The reason why he lost was completely obvious. He underestimated his opponent which is the biggest mistake anyone can have, and decided that all girls are inherently weak which is one of his biggest mistakes to make." Julia laid down the reasons why Jinbei lost. "It doesn't matter the type of opponent you face, the moment you think you are better then them, you give them an advantage."
"Exactly, well put Julia." Marco smiled nodding as he looked at her. "It doesn't matter if you're a champion or a beginner, if you get overconfident in your abilities that's the first step to losing a duel. Of course, losing can be just as if not more beneficial than winning in most cases, if you take your loss in stride."
Jinbei otherside looked downright outraged at being embarrassed like this, and without Mir using her full strength against him which he looks really sore about but silently went back to his seat to wallow it out which shows he is keeping quiet for today. Seeing that Mir calmly walked back to let Marco start teaching the class. "I'm sorry for the interruption in your lesson plan."
"Actually it was a plan I was thinking of to show everyone how to best use there cards while not having any Fusion Monsters handy." Marco however had decided to tell her about his plan for class, and Mir demonstrated it rather well.
"True, Fusion Summoning is very versatile as it's the only mechanic..." Mir started before pausing and turning to the class. "Actually no, can anyone tell me what other mechanic shares several things in common with Fusion Summoning?"
"Synchro shares the Extra Deck, and sometimes need to have specific monsters to tune them with like Fusion Monsters needing specific monsters to fuse with."
"Xyz also shares the Extra Deck to while they don't require specific named materials like a monster name they need some monsters on the field like Synchro, and sometimes Fusion."
"Ritual itself doesn't use the Extra Deck but it requires monsters on the field or hand like Fusion Summoning except you need to have the monster in your hand to summon it to where sometimes you need a specific monster to summon it."
"That's all true, though I was referring to Ritual in this case as Fusion despite being in the Extra Deck while Ritual is in the Main Deck both are the only mechanics that can utilize monsters in your hand... meaning that unless you have an exception Fusion Summoning is traditionally easier to perform than Synchro or Xyz." Mir nodded smiling.
"Does this mean you use Ritual yourself ma'am?" one female student asked curiously.
"So you don't think Ritual is worthless?" one boy brought up over towards her. "Ritual is not exactly used a lot since lots of people find it useless as it expands your Deck a bit, and most of the time you can't summon what you intend to summon."
"The same could be said for Fusion Summoning." Mir answered calmly completely not noticing that she had somehow gone from assistant teacher to giving an entire lesson on her first day.. "While the Fusion Monster itself is in the Extra Deck you need to use specific monsters that in some cases don't serve any additional purpose to your deck and if you don't have the monsters you need any Fusion Spell becomes unplayable correct? So no, I don't think of Ritual as worthless at all. If you want to specialize in Ritual Summoning then by all means go ahead."
"I think every summon method has there own strengths, and weaknesses." Julia voiced over herself. "Xyz, and Synchro also are harder if you don't have the right monsters on the field either by lack of Tuner, or not the same level. Only difference is that unlike them, Fusion, and Ritual both require a spell to use so it be harder to make any summon you use playable if you don't use it right."
"Exactly, each mechanic has its own strengths and weaknesses." Mir nodded smiling as she chuckled. "Of course we might be getting a little off track, this is the Fusion Course after all."
"Well maybe if you remember your the assistant teacher we start now." one student said jokingly.
Mir blinked at that before her eyes widened turning to Marco. "I am so sorry, I didn't plan on stealing your class from you."
"It's quite alright. I'm sure they like you now." Marco assured her of the bright side.
Mir nodded only to frown as she looked over at Jinbei. "Well, most of them anyway."
Jinbei only glared towards her not saying anything still sore from the loss. Frowning at that Mir looked at the rest of the class before pausing. "Miss Krystal?"
"Yes ma'am?" Julia looked like she's paying attention upon hearing her.
"I'm not sure how much time we have left for this class but what do you say to having a friendly duel... though I'm probably at a disadvantage since you saw how my deck works." Mir pointed out. "So to compensate I'll actually use my Fusion Monsters this time."
Julia smiled over standing up. "Sure. You'll be surprised from what I can do."
Mir took her position again. "I'm looking forward to it."
Julia readied herself with a grin as they watched interested to see how this turns out.
"Let's Duel!" Mir and Julia called together.
(Dueling Theme: The Hunted by Hyperdose)
Mir: 4000

Julia: 4000
Hand: 5

Let the duel commence!
"So who's first?" Julia asked curiously.
"You can go first." Mir offered calmly looking at her hand.
"I am." Smiling Mir nodded calmly. "I'm positive."
Julia 1st Turn:
Looking over Julia grinned over. "Alright, I can summon my best card already!"
"Oh?" Mir inquired hearing that. "Starting with your best card, are you sure that's a good idea?"
"Oh yeah with this! Brilliant Fusion!"
A Continuous Spell appeared on the field showing a Fusion Summon.
(face-up)
Brilliant Fusion
Continuous Spell Card
When this card is activated: Fusion Summon 1 "Gem-Knight" Fusion Monster from your Extra Deck, using monsters from your Deck as Fusion Material, but change its ATK/DEF to 0. If this card leaves the field, destroy that monster. Once per turn: You can discard 1 Spell; the monster Special Summoned by this card's effect gains ATK/DEF equal to its original ATK/DEF, until the end of your opponent's turn. You can only activate 1 "Brilliant Fusion" per turn.
"When this card activates, I can Fusion Summon a Gem-Knight using monsters from my Deck!"
That caught Mir off guard as her eyes widened. "Fusion Summon from your deck, that's incredibly rare. I assume you know the spell Future Fusion? It fuses monsters in your deck but takes multiple turns so this Brilliant Fusion spell must be one of your best cards."
"Oh yeah cause by using cards such as the Gem-Knights Tourmaline, Obsidian, and Lazuli, I can summon this gal!"
The three appeared fusing.
"Gem with facets of day and night! Brilliant emerald of good fortune! Sharp jet-black darkness! In a whirlpool of light, combine to bring forth a new dazzling radiance! Fusion Summon! This is my true ace! Dazzling lady, Gem-Knight Lady Brilliant Diamond!" Julia chanted as her new monster appeared looking like a swordswoman with diamond's on her, and a cape.

Once per turn: You can send 1 face-up "Gem-Knight" monster you control to the Graveyard, and if you do, Special Summon 1 "Gem-Knight" Fusion Monster from your Extra Deck, ignoring its Summoning conditions.
'3400 attack points, and she still have five cards in her hand to back up that monster. That's a strong opening play.' Mir thought only to notice something.
Gem-Knight Lady Brilliant Diamond: (ATK: 0/DEF: 0)
"Your spell reduces your monster's attack and defense points to zero?" she inquired.
"When I use Brilliant Fusion to summon a monster, it's attack and defense points becomes zero." Julia had sorted out why her monster lost it's strength but has another trick. "But by sending a spell from my hand to the graveyard it gets it's points back!"
Mir nodded at that. "Alright then."
"Next as Lazuli is sent to the graveyard, I add Tourmaline back to my hand from the graveyard." Julia added her only normal monster before smirking showing another spell. "Next another Fusion Spell! Gem-Knight Fusion!"
It shows itself as a fusion spell that has two gem knights fusing together.
Gem-Knight Fusion
Normal Spell Card
Fusion Summon 1 "Gem-Knight" Fusion Monster from your Extra Deck, using monsters from your hand or your side of the field as Fusion Materials. If this card is in your Graveyard: You can banish 1 "Gem-Knight" monster from your Graveyard; add this card to your hand.
"With this, I can summon another Gem-Knight by using monsters on my hand or field!"
Mir nodded seeing that as she smiled. "Ok, who are you going to summon?"
"Feast your eyes on this! I fuse Gem-Knight Sapphire, Crystal, and my Garnet!" Julia called as the three monsters fused together
"Gem with facets of day and night! Brilliant emerald of good fortune! Become one with the blue stone and create a new light! Fusion Summon! Supreme radiance who illuminates everything! Level 9! Gem-Knight Master Diamond!"
What rose from behind Julia was a large knight. It was a sliver steel plated knight with a curved horn helmet with a face covering, horned shoulder plates, and a red cape on him. In his hands was a large sword that like his armor has numerous gems that he holds in his hands with the tip in the ground.

Mir's eyes widened seeing the two monsters. "Two powerful Fusion Monsters. Though Julia, your Brilliant Diamond still doesn't have her points back and they you'll only have one card left in your hand."
"Which one is a monster. However, I don't have to worry." Julia still had her grin. "Next I use Gem-Knight Fusion's OTHER effect!"
"It has another effect?" Mir questioned.
"By banishing Lazuli from the graveyard, I add it back to my hand!"
With Lazuli being pocketed Julia shows Gem-Knight Fusion with a grin adding it to her hand.
"Clever." Mir chuckled.
"And I'll discard it!"
Upon it Brilliant Fusion glowed.
Gem-Knight Lady Brilliant Diamond: (ATK: 0 + 3400 = 3400/DEF: 0 + 2000 = 2000)
"Well, it's a good thing I didn't go first because you have quite the powerful pair of monsters." Mir admitted before smiling.
"Oh I will still deal you big damage. Cause I still HAVEN'T Normal Summoned yet!" Julia grinned big. "And taking the charge is Gem-Knight Tourmaline!"
Tourmaline rose up beside Lady Diamond.

Hearing that Mir's eyes widened in shock. "Three Fusion Monsters before I even get a turn?"
Tourmaline entered the graveyard before Julia raised a card. "Say hi to Gem-Knight Lady Lapis Lazuli!"
What rose was a purple robed gem knight woman.

"Oh, don't forget about Master Diamond's ability Julia." mentioned a girl in the middle of the classroom with a smile.
"I already know." Julia stated over though looks annoyed before her grin grew again. "For every Gem in the graveyard, Master Diamond gains 100 points!"
Master Diamond: (ATK: 2900 + (100 * 5) = 3400)
"Next I use Lady Lapis Lazuli's ability! By sending a Gem-Knight from my Deck or Extra Deck to the graveyard you take 500 points of damage for every Special Summoned monster on the field!"
Lapis Lazuli fired a violet blast while Julia sends a second copy of Lapis Lazuli from her Extra Deck to the graveyard. Mir braced herself as the blast hit.
(Mir: 2500/Hand: 5)
"And that's only part one." Julia grinned over before pointing back. "Next Master Diamond's effect activates! By banishing a Gem-Knight Fusion Monster from the graveyard, he gains that monster's effects!"
So with the second Lapis Lazuli's departure from the graveyard Master Diamond looks armed to dish out damage.
Master Diamond: (Name: Gem-Knight Lady Lapis Lazuli/Gains effects of Gem-Knight Lady Lapis Lazuli)
"3000 points of damage before I even play a single card?" Mir questioned before frowning. "Then again, I'm a little disappointed."
"Disappointed?" Marco looked surprised hearing that blinking. "How so?"
"Well, it's true that Julia has three incredibly powerful monsters on her field." Mir admitted looking at Lapis-Lazuli, Master Diamond, and Brilliant Diamond before sighing. "But she has no cards in her hand and no facedown cards... her only spell is Brilliant Fusion but she has no way to protect herself."
Julia however shrugged. "What would I need backups for when I got these three powerful cards in play that cannot be easily defeated, and can take you out next turn?" As she said this she used Master Diamond's new effect sending a third Lapis Lazuli as Master Diamond fired a blast.
Mir braced herself from the blast again before frowning.
(Mir: 1000/Hand: 5)
"Alright your turn now." Julia grinned over confident.

"It does, but I'm not done yet. I use another ability of Genni in my graveyard, by banishing it and a Witchcrafter spell card in my graveyard like my Witchcrafter Confusion Confession I discarded I can use that spell's effect." Mir explained pocketing her two cards. "Confusion Confession lets me use monsters on my hand or field including a Witchcrafter to perform a Fusion Summon so I'll merge Madame Verre with Witchcrafter Potterie in order to Fusion Summon."
Mir's two monsters appeared before entering the Fusion Vortex.

● Add 1 "Witchcrafter" Spell/Trap from your GY to your hand.
"So... is that your Fusion Monster?" Julia looks amazed seeing it in awe.
"One of them." Mir nodded before smiling. "Now, I'll discard one spell to activate Witchcrafter Haine's ability and destroy Gem-Knight Lady Lapis Lazuli."
She discarded a spell before smiling.
"Then, since a non-Fusion Spellcaster is using its ability I can use one of three abilities of Witchcrafter Vice-Madame... in this case I'll return the spell I just discarded back to my hand."
Lapis Lazuli was struck from an attack before shattering which Julia braced herself.
Master Diamond: (ATK: 3500 + 100 = 3600)
"Now, I'll use the spell I discarded. Witchcrafter Draping." Mir continued playing the spell she had just discarded and gotten back from the GY. "This spell targets spell and trap cards you control up to the number of Witchcrafter monsters I have in play and returns them to your hand. So I'll return Brilliant Fusion to your hand."
Witchcrafter Draping

You can only use 1 "Witchcrafter Draping" effect per turn, and only once that turn.
Julia's eyes widen as Brilliant Fusion was forced back to her hand. "When... Brilliant Fusion leaves the field, the monster it summons is destroyed."
Brilliant Lady Diamond groaned before shattering.
Master Diamond: (ATK: 3600 + 100 = 3700)
"Well that's unfortunate for you because my Vice-Madame's ability also triggers when a spell card or effect activates and the second of her three abilities destroys a card on the field which will be your Master Diamond." Mir told Julia as her Fusion Monster fired a blast destroying Master Diamond.
Julia's eyes widen in shock seeing all three of her best monsters are so easily destroyed.
"Take this as a lesson, even if you have to hold back on your offense keep something in reserve to protect yourself." Mir explained. "Haine, Vice-Madame attack Julia directly."
The two charged attacking Julia defeating her in two attacks.

Mir wins!
With the end of the duel Mir walked over to Julia and offered her hand. "How are you feeling?"
Julia was looking down before looking up, and takes her hand.
"You have a lot of potential, keep that up and you might be one of the best duelists here at LID not just in the Fusion Course." Mir smiled.
"But... you destroyed my best cards easily." Julia looked at her. "Even with her points are really low you still turned things around. How?"
"Well like I said you didn't have any cards to defend yourself so I didn't have to worry about any trap cards that could have stopped me, and also... I have a question for you." Mir answered before smiling softly. "How many life points do you need to win a duel?"
Julia blinked from hearing that question looking stumped. "Well I... Uh..."
"Does anyone know the answer?" Mir inquired turning to the class.
They all looked before a voice brought out. "As long as it isn't 0."
Everyone looked over to Jinbei of all people who still looks sore from the loss but was the one to answer. "Don't you morons get it? The Life Points required to win is all but 0. As long as you have just 1 Life Point it's all you need to win, and turn things around."
"Exactly, if you have even a single life point you still can turn a duel around." Mir smiled looking at him. "So until your life points drop to zero you just need to stay calm and keep trying to turn things around."
Meanwhile up in Declan's office...
Declan, and Claude were watching the class through holographic screens watching while Declan's eyes were focused. To earn his trust, Mir would need to prove herself in class, and from watching the two matches earlier with different motives, and examples along with Mir taking charge of the class most of the time he finds this entire thing interesting, and starts to feel that maybe he can trust her but it is still too early to make any hard decisions.
"Should we inform madame chairwoman about this turn of events?" Claude inquired.
Ah now that was the part he was forgetting. His mother would be pretty adamant about this but he was sure that once she sees Mir's potential on there side their wouldn't be any need to worry.
"Put her on the phone." was his simple order.
Claude nodded before pressing a button as a large screen appeared. A ringing was heard before after a few seconds a black haired woman wearing a red dress answered showing she's in a plane answering her phone in face-time.
"Mother." Declan greeted over calmly.
"Declan, is something wrong?" the woman inquired. "I wasn't expecting a call from you."
"It seems we have a visitor from the Fusion Dimension." Declan went straight to the point knowing that his mother isn't the type of games. "That visitor is here right now, and gave us some very beneficial information."
Her eyes narrowed hearing that. "From the Fusion Dimension, and you're certain she isn't a spy attempting to send information back to Leo?"
"She gave to us for her aid against him. I gave her a task to prove herself before we can start trusting her." Declan does know his mother would be suspicious so he assures her that he doesn't trust her yet only when she proves herself a bit can he consider helping Mir. "She said, and I quote 'The truth is, I'm more akin to a traitor than a soldier.' She is the daughter of Duel Academy's head scientist, and wishes to stop Duel Academy like us."
His mother was quiet for a few moments. "I have business with our Arctic campus but when I get back I'll have to speak with her in person. If anything happens inform me immediately."
"Noted." Declan gave an agreed nod from that before hanging up.
Turning back he saw the students were leaving the classroom except for Julia who had walked over to talk with Mir and Marco. Interested he turned up the volume to listen in on there conversation.
"One-on-one tutoring?" Mir asked in shock. "I'm not sure I'm qualified for that."
"Why not? You helped me learn a lot more then what Professor Marco can teach." Julia turned over to said teacher. "No offense."
"None taken."
"I'm barely older than you and this was the first time I've ever tried to teach anyone anything." Mir answered turning to Marco. "I would think you'd be a much better teacher than I am."
"Mir, my dear you've done much more at this lesson then I've ever manage to do." Marco stated over with a soft smile. "Not only had you managed to hold yourself against strong odds, teach Jinbei a lesson he needed, and helped Julia how she needs to have better strategies then relying on brute strength, you also have taught the class about that Life Points are only a part of the game to where even a tiny bit means the game is still on, and about the drawbacks, and strengths every other summon method has to offer. You've done more then what I've ever done before so I think you, and Julia doing one on one tutoring would be an excellent idea."
Mir blinked before blushing slightly. "Well... alright then."
"So you'll do it?" Julia looked hopeful over to her.
"I will... does... once a week Friday after class work?" Mir asked her despite still looking a bit embarrassed over what Marco said.
"Yes! Please come over to my dad's jewelry shop sometime! I'll be sure to give you some beautiful earrings!"
"Huh? Oh... no that's ok." Mir said quickly.
"Oh please, they'll be best! There'll be so good on you!"
"I said no!"
Declan watches the banter on interested. So Mir already gotten both Marco, and Julia's trust handy from this interaction, and can see that Mir knows what she is doing even if she isn't aware of it. Any doubts he have probably vanished but it's still early to decide cause it's only been like 2 days. She needs to prove herself more before Declan can make a decision, and about chatting with his mother will be a test she'll have a hard time to pass.
Overall probably a good first impression from her.
"She seems trustworthy, but what do you think sir?" Claude asked calmly.
"Still too early to decide. Let's give her some more time." Declan voiced over to him.
Claude simply nodded at that.
bopdog111: A good impression indeed.
Ulrich362: Well on Declan and Claude... not so much on the chairwoman of the Leo Corporation though.
bopdog111: Henrietta Akaba... what would the meeting she would get with Mir go into?
Ulrich362: That's a very good question, and one that will probably be answered very soon... of course there are also a few other people for Mir to meet... including someone she may end up growing fairly close to. See you in the next chapter.
bopdog111: Be sure to review!
